In this Warhammer 40k in 40 minutes we focus on gameplay and you will get a bit more insight into strategy and what is going on in the minds of the players. Nick has his newer shiny T'au codex and Tak will have to use tricks and tactics to try and dance around some very big guns. What happens when Ultramarine hubris marches into a heavily fortified T'au Space Fortress? What is mightier? The Emperor's Sword or a Railgun?

Outcomes be damned. I would watch Tak over and over again. a great strategist and a tremendous sport. Even with the terrain stacked against him he was a champ in my book. Am I the only one who literally cheered when Roboute rose again? My kids thought I lost my mind.
Humbled we could illicit such a response!
They
Nick: That was the most exciting deployment phase ever.
Tak: Yeah, let's do it again.
That’s a great idea! I’d love to see a more in depth battle report where I can learn some finer strategic points. I’m an Ultramarine player and rooting for Tak but the Tau are still very strong. Good luck to both generals!
there are a few channels devoted to talking about the strategy meta you should check out
Oh i see you are a man of culture as well! Good luck fellow brother, 40k will be affordable again

Man, I love watching Tak play! Cool as ice even with his back against the wall.
Thank you!
The additional tokens, small visual editing additions, new music and especially the in-game commentary by players add that final polish to make this my favourite PlayOn game to date!
That truly means a lot coming from a long time fan and contributor to Play On. Thank you and we hope we can continue to impress with every show.
The way Tak played with Nick's mind with saying he might do mistakes and just saying ''mistake two'' and seeing nick's panic on his face, priceless X D
After 25 years of absence, I started collecting Warhammer again 4 months ago and proudly showcasing my first Ultramarines army. Call me cheesy, but I fucking love 'em!
We march for Macragge!
It's cheesy but if you're happy, the rest of the (sane) Warhammer community is happy :) That said, the only good (Ultra)Marine is the one being experimented on by my Drukhari :D
We *float* for Macragge!
Oi! Anotha blue beakie to krump?! WAAAAAAAGH!
You asked for it...
Your cheesy ^_^
Nick and Tak are my favourit players to watch and especially Tak played so well given the difference in codex-strength.
I am disappointed in the lack of explosions.
Great video though, and a great demonstration of Tau firepower. I wonder how differently it would have gone post-dataslate.
Nick would have appreciated more explosions too!
Love the battle report, but I really believe armor of contempt would’ve changed this game dramatically, especially against tau
Yeah, I was thinking that through the entire watch through.
Spent today as Salamanders vs Iron Warriors, we both wound up slugging to Turn 5 because that -1 to AP as a global rule is absolutely a factor. Both of us in previous games often got tabled on turn 2 or so. Sallies get it a bit better cus that replacement to their take on it, the reroll wound block, also can be quite crippling, especially if, say, you rely on reroll 1s to make your big hitter units perform better like oblits/Master of Possession combos that basically are omnipresent in CSM lists right now
Ehhh. AOC’s biggest help it provides is when you can sit in cover, something that’s not really in this table.
Does AoC effect wound rolls, or does it carry to saving throws as well?
@@bait4sale9001 AoC is strictly a boon to the saving throw, reducing whatever the weapon's AP is by 1. A -1 AP weapon like a heavy bolter or most breeds of autocannon are treated as AP 0 as a pretty common example (more ironic considering the heavy bolter was hyped to be a 2 wound marine counter at the start of 9th by GW itself)
I collect both space marines and tau and it's fun to watch them battle against each other. Tak breaking down his strategies is interesting too - gives me a puretide feel haha
The vibe between Nick and Tak in-game is great. I especially like the tactical commentary by each of them explaining how they think through their plays. Keep it going and thanks guys - very entertaining!
The red and blue Breachers better be assigned to Blood Gulch.
"How about a tasty pulse sandwich with a side of Shas'ui? Hold the life. And the mayo."
“I think it looks like a Manta.”
“Stop making’ up animals, Gri’ff!”
“Sorry, Shas’o…”
Great to see Tak, Strategos Maestro,.play some more games.
And thank you Steve for Narrating, you did a good job.
Nick: it seems that it's feast or famine with Tau. You lost with grace for so long with a useless codex, don't feel bad about the rail guns.
Great battle and strategy on display here. Love to see Nick's Tau and Tak's Ultramarines are cool too, so this was a pretty dope battle! Still holding out hope to see the Hive Mind put in an appearance on Play on Table Top. Would love to see a Starship Trooper-esque narrative battle or to see Chaos Knights stomping out.
Starship Troopers guard horde vs Nids narrative sounds dope as hell, ngl.
This episode was a total nail biter. Tak did a LOT better than I thought he did. Gives me a lot of hope as a marines player!!
83-45 is a nail biter?😂
Love watching tak play ultramarines! Looking forward to this. I just started the hobby and have went for ultramarines! We are steel, we are wrath, we are doom!!
We march for Macragge!
Started myself two months ago after bingewatchin 2 of the Play on tournaments and I have also started with the ULTRAS!
Tau Nick really has the spirit of an Ork player. Watching him get so gleefully excited about all the weapons he was gonna get to use in the second round was like watching a kid on a Christmas morning
Battle reports like this one is what really got me hooked on the channel, great job with this one!
Great game, and what an awesome table set up BTW. The layout of the terrain and use of the lighting effects look great. Had to feel awesome to play on.
It was an experience!
it feels good to see nick happy
At first I'm afraid with how scary Tau guns are. But since Tak the one take the helms on I believe he can bring down the Tau
Post match edit:
Tak really really facing an uphill battle, but he showcase ultramarines mindset here, eradicators underperformed but Guilliman really the MVP for the ultramarines
In the Eradicators' defense, Nick was smart enough to target them early. He did his damnednest to take them out ASAP-and for good reason. Total Annihilation, even at reduced Strength, might have still posed a huge threat.
Imagine Bobby G with Dorn battling on a field together?
Both are insignificant compared to the might of the Lasgun.
Which is, in turn, insignificant compared to the might of the shovel.
Do you lack faith?! Do you lack a SPINE, brother?!?
@@duckstuffer2152 i like pineapple on pizza, so no chaplain bald, i have faith.
@@comradechad7378 I heard the Iron Warriors don't like pineapple on their pizza.
@@user-rx2ur5el9p at least kriegers actually canonically use their Lasguns in combat.
Absolutely love the intro and a great game! The army lists were super quick and cool, only hard part was having to pause to read what unit it was and check out the paint job!
This is a great game! Wonderful competitors as always but really showcased such passion and sportsmanship.
Always happy to set time watching!
The narative being made while the game is being played gives insight in what is being done.... valuable material!!!
Fantastic video as always, really liked the small strategic pointers from Tak :D
This RUclips is the best for Warhammer battles. No doubt, it’s new user friendly, the outtakes explaining what happened, the added effects and the beautifully painted models. Best of the best
That Tau terrain is awesome!
It was an amazing spectacle to play on!
I really enjoyed this battle report. The terrain was gorgeous. I like the pace on how you went through things. The camera angles were well done. The insight from the coaches was great as well. Well done and I have subscribed just for how well this was done.
Great effort from Tak and some excellent plays made, great game all around
Favourite part of tau is Nick's sound effects 😂 give so much more character to the game! 😆😆
Amazing delivery, I had never managed to stay to the end of a tabletop match. You guys really put the fun in it.
The detail in their battlefields is amazing, love the smoke and lights.
I feel like making the most out of a bad situation is a skill that takes a long time to learn. It was great watching Tak and hearing him walk through what he was thinking. Much appreciated.
probably autocorrect but it is spelled tak
@@acetyl3977 yep, autocorrect. I didn't even notice.
That is one beautiful battlefield!
We love revisiting our sky base set. We've used it for some of our prettiest games.
this looks so fun to play, I have watched a game but never understood the game, that was around 15 years ago. Thank you all for putting this on youtube.
My two favorite armies in one video, love it!
Fantastic channel, one of my favourites. Go Ultramarines! My only challenge is following the game with all fancy special effects after a few beers but that's on me lol. great vid lads
Excellent as always!
Wonderful match! I really thought Tak was about to stage a game winning comeback come turn 3!
This terrain set up is so cool!!
It's really good to see Nick and Tak going head on again in another 40k in 40 minutes
awesome game, love the production and enthusiasm
Love the battle report. Mabey one day Tak will play with ATVs
Just picked up my first swathe of T'au so it was awesome to see Nick run Bork'an this time around, not so niche afterall by the looks of it!
T'au Gunner: "Wait a second...did that thing just get up from being shot with a railgun? Oh well, this is why we load extra ammo..."
Man, I really like how you guys edit the videos! It is a high level production and it is alsovery enjoyable to watch. And please, do more star wars legion too.
All of the Taktics go out of the window when you let Tak get into your head. And he does it in such a Takticool way.
So keen for this!
Very good one! Thanks
Great Play, great Video!
That map thoughhhhh. Holy crap man, literally foaming at the mouth, its both beautiful and seems very interesting to play on.
Great job doing what you could there Tak, but man was that an uphill battle. Loved seeing a more varied T'au list though!
I enjoyed this one a lot
Great video, love from macragge!
Thanks for the video
Can't wait to see the story for this one
The Greater Good
Vs
The Emperors Wrath
Nice job!!
Spoiler......
Happy to see Nick get a win, but that stuff with Bobby G in the middle was cool. Great game from my favorite t-shirt company.
This is the place to not only watch a great batrep, but a wonderful display of sportsmanship. Win or lose, always staying positive, playful, and polite. Thanks y’all for a wonderful video.
Well done Nick!!!!! with the TAUUUUU!
nick falling back with the crisis suit commander from guilliman and blowing his face off with a railgun from across the board is the most tau thing i've ever seen
wow. this map looks amazing
I agree with Nick, the Deployment phase was fun and really cagey from both men.
This videos makes my days
I just used my tau sept tau (with a Farsight enclaves theme shadow sun) against my buddy who plays Ultramarines, hoo boy was it an amazing match, those auto hits are pretty scary on a dreadnought, broadsided my 2 broadsides
39:55 Guilliman opens his eyes like a Street Fighter character on the continue screen and then leaps up, grabs the commander’s suit and sheaths the Emperor’s sword into its chassis, wrenching it violently before ripping it free and falling into a ready stance.
Just recently found this channel. Sooo good.
Thanks! We have been trying hard.
@@PlayOnTabletop You can be really proud of what you have achieved. I am glad to be able to tell you that you have rekindled my love for 40k again. I dropped it after 4th edition ended (been playing since 2nd, CSM, Tyranids, CSM and Necrons) because of GW und private stuff. Your videos.. Well and Majorkill rekindled the sweet Necron...radiation. Love it... Keep it up! Maybe someday I can drop in with my Tau and Necron Army ;)
Great vid.
Still super jealous of your Tau terrain, really want some of my own/wish there were actual model kits of xenos terrain
WOW, this game is a perfect showcase of Tak's tactical prowess. Blew me away.
God I love P.O.T.'s batreps...The production value alone both in the videos and in the game with the "animated tables" and exquisite terrain makes all others pretenders to the throne. I can't go back to watching your competitors anymore because quite frankly, they no longer compete. Oh and also you're fellow countrymen! BONUS!
Yep, Tak is my favorite to watch play.
That was closer than the end score showed though I think Tak made a big mistake at end there choosing keep Gulliman in the middle, should have taken the chance and rushed the Hammerhead while he had the chance and deleted the damn thing, Gulliman might well have survived without that horrible railgun around ;) Might have been too little too late to be fair but you know, nothing ventured and all that ;)
(I get Taks rationale in that staying put is guarenteed 4 points vs a potential -5 to Nick but the thing I feel he undervalued was there is more at stake there than the points, staying put in the middle gets you those 4 points but your as good as guarenteeing Gulliman dies next turn (3+ to hit then 2+ to basically auto kill with the railgun with rerolls youre on some pretty slim numbers for that NOT to happen ;)
@@locutus9956 completely see what you mean. I must admit I would likely have done the same thing as Tak. Guaranteed points is 9/10 the better option I reckon
In hindsight it may have taken 5 points away from Nick however as I said in the video, it was a decision made in the moment based on how the game was going. My dice were not great and Guilliman had already failed to kill the Commander earlier in the game. Where I put him I was hoping the only shot Nick would reliability get was the railgun versus charging the Hammerhead, failing to kill it, and then becoming exposed to all the other T'au guns and not scoring any points. I admit, not the most heroic or fun action on the table, but I was hoping that the dice would go my way and Nick could have missed with the Hammerhead. He did in the previous game.
can't wait to see the manta in a 40k in 40 minutes episode! if that is coming of course.
For the greater good!
Great job everyone!!! Thank you so much!
nice win tau
The battlefield is amazing
Very good game
As a new player and lover of tau im a huge nick fanboy, but damnnnnn I've never wanted to see space marines clutch it as much as then.
Hell yeah, you gotta use dice with Tau symbols on the 6's!
A Play on Tabletop episode featuring Tau? No way.
Taks gilliman is spectacularly painted
My too favorite guys awesome!!
WE NEED MORE TAK 🙌
wow great games :)
If it were me I would've gone after the Hammerhead with Guilliman for three reasons.
1) It takes the railgun out of the game.
2) It takes a TTL unit down, denying Nick 5 points.
3) It kicks Nick off his home objective, further denying another 4 points. It might not have decided the game but it would've slowed down Nick's scoring and forced him to send another unit to get Guilliman.
Regardless, well played game by both sides, it would be interesting to see how this game would've gone with Armour of Contempt.
Not to mention, with railgun dead, any other unit would have harder time killing Guilliman.
Sweet. Blueberries vs Ultra Smurfs. This should be good
Nick not shotting with his stealth suits the entire game very stealthy.
Damn and stupid OP new codexes :D
It's painful to see the dice fail so bad on one side. But it's always amazing to see Nick play things that can explode
Ok, I know I'm late to the party here, but this table looks fantastic. Are there construction instructions or anything for those terrain pieces? Love them.
I loved the battlefield can I ask where you got all those terrian stuff
This is the coolest board ever
Finally, more Tau! Tau were my first 40k army. Hoping for Tau vs Tau.
Also hoping for space marine Steve vs chaos marine Steve narrated by steve. If we could work in storm trooper steve I'll take it.
*Weeps in this game coming out before Armor of Contempt*.
Good to see Nick forget about Kauyon and the exploding 6’s 🤣
