Friendly reminder that during the Damocles Crusade, the Tau did not yet possess Ghost Keels, Crisis Suits, Manta's, Tigersharks, or Tau'Nar in their arsenal. They were fighting with Devilfish, Hammerheads, some basic battle suits. Infantry, and some of their smaller bombers and aircraft. Thats it. Still was enough to keep the Imperium from conquering even a single Tau Sept world. The Imperium blasted through a few merchant worlds, resource worlds, and a half baked Tau Orbital defense station. But when they reached their first Tau Sept world where the Tau were amassed in force, and had a much larger fleet waiting for them, they got absolutely pounded. They managed to take a SINGLE city, but then realized they had lost so much strength that they couldn't keep going. The Imperium lost millions of guardsmen, thousands of vehicles, 100's of Space Marines, and dozens of ships. The Commander basically said "man fuck this shit, it ain't worth it. We out of here." And the Tau were gracious enough to let the Imperium retreat through their space, even though they could've flanked them from behind with fleets and wiped them out as they fell back. Now imagine if the Tau had everything available to them today! The Imperium wouldn't have even been able to land forces on the ground of a Tau homeworld, let alone take any major cities. They would've gotten annihilated before they reached that point.
nah GW would've stacked it in the imperium's favor regardless. Face it, there's no way the Tau will ever get a real win on the Imperium. Even their biggest W's are always coped out of by GW's own writing.
That was an awesome battle. I love your narrative and super large and crazy battle reports. Khorne is pleased with the amount of death and destrucition wrought this day.
Large point 40k games are so much better than the apocalypse version of the game.
