I agree with this video but wtf is the Phantom Menace effect? People didn't suddenly realise the movie was bad all along, they hated it because red letter media wanted an exact copy of the OT instead of something new, made a BS video that proved absolutely nothing and people just went along with it because people believe everything they read on the internet. Case in point: 11:38
I'll go by which movies I liked/loved, and explain to you on that. 10. Yeah, Life of Brian is a movie satirizing religion (specifically Biblical Religion), and how there could be a sense of extremism in some cases. Like how you're not allowed to say God's actual name outloud, or how people tend to follow the leader and not be thinking like an individual in terms of personality; those I understand can be difficult in modern times. In terms of the latter, I recall that Jesus has gotten into situations like this, but it's more on how they get peeved off when they hear something they don't want to hear. Jesus may be the Son of God, but even he has problems with criticism. And thank goodness you said this film isn't blasphemous, since it does acknowledge that Jesus exists, it's just that the film is similar in theme to "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead". If you wanna see a movie similar to the Hamlet midquel, I recommend "The Lion King 1 ½". 9. Okay, for this movie, I can understand that it has some lowbrow humor, specifically when it comes to this modern day Doctor Dolittle being a detective for animals. I feel the intention for the title character of the movie is that he prefers to be a human animal rather than a human being. If you couldn't stomach Jim Carey pretending that he's an animal... well, I don't know what else to tell you, but I'm also not gonna stop you. 8. Okay, slice of life stories can be something that not everybody can watch from start to finish, if it was a movie, I get that. All I can say on this is be glad you didn't see the TV Series. 7. Okay, I lied, I never saw this movie, but if it makes you feel any better, I'd recommend Pom Poko, a movie from Studio Ghibli that, to me, is what happens when you mix Dr. Seuss' the Lorax with Japanese Folklore. It's a great story done with beautiful visuals and wonderful characters to counterbalance with the message of nature versus modernism. It features a bunch of Bake-Danukis (or Yokai that look like Tanukis, a type of dog that looks similar to a raccoon), defending their home in Tama Hills from construction plans for a city called "New Tama Town". Also, unlike Illumination's Lorax (which if you ask me, they should've made Thneedville desolate to get their point across rather than be all shiny and clean), the damage is already done, but it wasn't a total loss, which is all I can give as a spoiler, you're just gonna have to see the movie for yourself. You can also check out a video by StoryDive, after the movie, as his video talks about various points in the movie about all the Mythology references, the video titled "The Mythology Behind Pom Poko". 6. I know not everybody is gonna like this movie because of the villain, and it's disappointing that a lot of people are like that. I don't blame people for not liking villains that don't think logically; but honestly, not every villain thinks through their own plan. If she's gonna outlaw superheroes just because her father died, so be it, she's no better than any other villain; and the previous movie had a former superhero fan commit super-genocide. Also, this is my honest opinion, but I don't care what Edna Mode thinks about Superhero costumes, or how Elastigirl is not wearing a matching outfit; I'd rather the families have their own outfits that suit their personality. I do like Dash having the red suit (because it reminds me of DC's Flash) but Violet and Jack-Jack don't get their own outfits. 3. I completely ignored everything you said about this film after you said you disagreed, because now you're getting me to defend this one. Look, I know this film has flaws, but you can't insinuate that it's WORSE than Shrek the Third. So what if it made it's own "problem" to make this story. The narrative of this movie goes with the classic "It's a Wonderful Plot" Trope, in which the lead character was given a chance to see the effects of what would happen if the lead character was never born. It gave us a look into what would happen if Shrek never rescued Princess Fiona, which also implies that Prince Charming and Lord Farrquad failed to rescue the Princess by their own methods. Also, according to a Video Game based on the Movie, Fairy Godmother was allowed to be Queen for a week, thanks to Rumpelstiltskin wiping King Harold and Queen Lilian out of existence in the movie; this is in direct connection to Shrek 2, where she wanted to rule Far Far Away after Prince Charming marries Fiona, as part of an arranged marriage forced upon the King and Queen, when the Fairy Godmother cast a spell on their daughter. With that said, this movie was made in response to people who didn't like all the DTV stuff that happens after "Shrek the Third" or even the third movie in general. Shrek may have not liked that he has a routine involving his family, but he should be glad that people knew him better, since that's what made him so miserable to begin with. My point is, it's one thing to hate a movie for existing, it's another that it has to be a good sequel made after a terrible one. 1. I'm not gonna say anything on this, except that besides the film actually being inaccurate to the real person this film is based on, you're the second person I know to say anything about why this film is bad.
I think the video on it by Unlucky Tug explains pretty well everything wrong with that film it's basically just a retread of the first movie but worse in nearly every aspect I cannot believe I gaslit myself into thinking it was good because tbh it really isn't I feel like a lot of people did the same as me and then eventually realized how mediocre and boring it is later on
You should really watch some of the interviews the Pythons did when Life of Brian came out, because they're very serious about how they're *not* making fun of Jesus himself, or his messages, it's a satire that makes fun of the people who interpret him for their own purposes. That's why "blessed are the cheesemakers" is so funny, and the whole Judean People's Front vs the People's Front of Judea. And people like that are *still* like that, even 45 years after the movie came out, I'm surprised you don't like this one.
It was also making fun of the politics of the time. The Monty Python guys are classical scholars and the whole thing with multiple Judean factions spending more time splintering off and bickering with each other instead of uniting to fight against Roman occupation was a real problem back then. Latin scholars have also been able to learn a lot about how it was pronounced back then by looking at misspelled Latin graffiti in Roman ruins.
I'm someone of faith myself and I've always been against those who misinterpret the word of god for their own gain, so to see a film poking fun at the extremists, the idiots and the downright manipulative is hilarious, Jesus himself would probably love this film :)
I actually know some people who didn’t like it all that much but to each their own. The MCU is currently on a decline so that could be part of the reason why people dismissed it.
Im think you and a lot of people dont understand shrek forever after, life goes on after marriage, after having kids, it would make sense that shrek want to slow down in life, i mean living alone for years, then suddenly his life changes, and hes not perfect so it makes sense hed be mad at the beginning, life isn't perfect
Nostalgia critic's review of it is probably his best review really funny and his overtop anger feels more justified compared to other reviews as he gets upset at the movie for the misrepresentation of the real life patch Adams
I was surprise, I see a lot of youtuber bash this film. Heck, I was didn't enjoy the movie because I thought the villain was cheap. Her motivations at her Dad rely too much on Supers when the law was in affect was kinda stupid. It wasn't the Supers that killed her father it was the law.
Nah, the twist is still funny. People have become so politically divided nowadays that even mere jokes can be taken as "offensive stereotypes", which from what I've seen, the Einhorn twist most certainly wasn't. It was just intended to be a comic riff on The Crying Game.
I was going to say, pretty sure Incredibles 2, Patch Adams and Shrek Forever After being disliked was the general opinion. And as someone who's seen the first two, it's not hard to agree.
Don’t feel bad, buddy. Just because the general public likes a movie, doesn’t mean you have to like it. I judge based on my own viewpoints and decide if it’s good. Plus, the Incredibles 2 and Shrek Forever After did kinda suck.
Honestly, what I hate most about Schaffrillas' videos is that they continuously beat Shrek the Third into the ground and treat it as non canon in favor of Shrek Forever After, when frankly, Forever Ever's writing is worse BECAUSE of all of Shrek the Third's progression. Stuff in the previous film like Shrek getting more compassion from others and not being held back by the discourse of being an ogre, gets undone by him throwing an immature fit in the next film about how him being an ogre gives him the right to keep being an asshole.
You got it all wrong its Shrek 3 that gave the Shrek franchise its childish traits something that 4 pokes fun at . Shrek was going through a mid life crises and missed the glory days not being an asshole but to be feared he didn't know what he had till he lost it , 4 is w greatly improvement of 3 especially when nothing in The Third shows up in 4 like Artie .
@@nicholassims9837now I wonder what Shrek 5 will do that 3 or 4 didn’t bring to the table, although 4 is more of a conclusion to the story, where else can you go? I guess we’ll find out in 2 years.
I know this movie wasn’t even on this list, But i have to say Elemental. It’s not really that good, Nothing much happens, And worst of all is that it made PIXAR say “We need more sequels"
To be fair, they actually went to the town that Napoleon Dynamite was filmed in, and interviewed students at the high school Napoleon attended. And most of the students there didn't think the movie was particularly funny. They just found it accurate and true to life. Whereas I, a born and bred New Yorker found the movie hysterical. I had never seen anything like that before in my life. It's one of my favorite movies ever. So many lines I quote all the time. It's the very first movie I had ever watched in theater 5 times. It still holds the record for most times I watched any movie in theaters. And I dont think any movie is ever going to that record, since I barely ever go to the movies anymore. I've gone to the movies maybe twice in the past 5 years. After all the theaters were forced to shut down, I realized how little I cared about them.
I feel like the appeal of Napoleon Dynamite is that it's an 'Anti-Teen Comedy'. It takes all the elements of a typical teen comedy movie, like the head cheerleader, captain of the football team, nerdy protagonist helps best friend run for class president, gets a date for the prom, etc. But then there's just a bunch of random things happening, not some carefully crafted, logical story. Hence some people think it's the funniest thing ever, while others just don't get at all.
@@Sorcerers_Apprentice the movie was good. But the animated show wasn't. And it was such a bummer, because the animated show did something so rare and unheard of. They got the *entire* original cast to come back and reprise their roles. That never happens. Even in Back to the Future, Christopher Lloyd appeared in live action segments. But Doc Brown was voiced by Homer Simpson. Even in direct cartoons. Jackie Chan didn't voice himself in Jackie Chan adventures. Hulk Hogan didn't voice himself in his animated series. However Mister T did actually voice himself in his cartoon. But I can't think of another animated series adapted from a movie, where all of the original cast returned. That's literally unheard of. You're lucky if you get one actor to do it.
Up the top of my head, I don’t care for American Beauty, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Good Will Hunting, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, Once Upon a time in America, Forrest Gump, and City Lights. There’s more, but those are the ones that really spring to mind.
Eraserhead really freaked me out when I first saw it, but over time and with repeat viewings, I've really come to appreciate it, though I totally get why anyone wouldn't like it. As far as other David Lynch films I've seen, I definitely like The Elephant Man and The Straight Story, although Inland Empire was a bit tougher for me to get into. Eraserhead is still definitely my favorite of his films I've seen though.
This is essentially how I feel about Toy Story 4 seriously I've seen numerous people praise it and say it's just as good as the other films and I just don't see it like the ending is so garbage the characters all feel really off Forky's mere existence brings up so many questions that never needed to be asked in the first place Gabby Gabby is not a redeemable character and I don't get why the movie tries to redeem her the movie barely has any good emotional moments the soundtrack is trying so hard to bank on nostalgia and overall it just feels like a very unnecessary addition Toy Story 3 was about as good of an ending as you could possibly get and they went and ruined it
I just wonder what's going to happen with Toy Story 5 ? I wonder if it's going to pick up where Toy Story 4 left off. With Buzz, Jessie, and the gang in the RV thinking of a way to convince Woody to come back. For some reason, I don't think they'll get rid of Woody in Toy Story 5. I guess we'll see what happens when they drop a trailer.
Mines gotta be either Beetlejuice or Ghostbusters, my dad loved those two movies and his tastes kinda influenced mine as a child, but I just never got the mass appeal or need for a sequel for both of them.
I recently watched Beetlejuice and it wasn't really a fun time. Maybe that was because broken subtiltles, but I don't know. Felt not worth my money on Amazon. Effects are really nice though, maybe I'll give sequel a chance.
I love Ghostbusters, but never cared at all for Beetlejuice. Last summer, I read the darker first draft script for the movie, and its superior to the final film in almost every way.
I remember watching Eraserhead when I was 14 after hearing how scary and unsettling it was. Only to be totally disappointed. Was it weird? Hell yes. But Scary? Not at all. I was honestly just bored. Also, one misconception that needs to be cleared up: "Weird" or "Bizzarre" do NOT equal "Scary".
I agree with you on Shrek Forever After but Lord Farquaad, the Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming were killed off because they ran their coarses so they're not coming back even if the timeline gets alternated
The funny thing is that some of his favorite stuff like Drawn Together or Dave the Barbarian are absurdist and slapstick. What can I say? Not everyone has to like the same things.
When seeing the thumbnail for your next video, I agree with you that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a solid film and one that’s brought about some of the worst media analysis I’ve ever seen alongside the Star Wars prequels. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s one of my all time favorite movies.
Barbie. One of the most insufferable movies I've ever seen. And what I hate about the discourse regarding Barbie, is that just like the Ghostbusters 2016 film, anyone who hates Barbie for valid reasons is now suddenly an alt-right Trump supporter, who hates women and minorities. Someone literally called me Ben Shapiro because I didn't like Barbie.
Tru dat yo. The review by MJTanner (god bless their souls) basically turned me away from that shite. And I unironically like fellow toy-to-film translation Transformers, so even I wanted no part of that toxic misandrist sermon masquerading as a toy commercial.
I'm sure you've probably heard this a million times already, but I feel like maybe you misunderstood the intent behind Life of Brian. It very specifically is not satirising Christ or his teachings, it's targeting organised movements in general, though especially religious ones, and how people will cherry pick whatever they like to justify their own ends. There's that infamous 1979 tv debate where John Cleese and Michael Palin defended the movie against Malcolm Muggeridge and the then Bishop of Southwark, and it's clear the latter two did not understand that the movie wasn't mocking Jesus, and they'd supposedly come in 15 minutes late and missed the scenes that established this. The Pythons maintained that the movie was heretical rather than blasphemous and never "sought out to destroy anyone's faith". On a side note, that tv debate is one of the most frustrating things I've ever seen...
Let's see what I have 1. Turning Red (2022) 2. Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) 3. Cocaine Bear (2023) 4. The Heat (2013) 5. Abominable (2019) 6. Despicable Me 3 (2017) 7. The Willoughbys (2020) 8. Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) 9. Mirai (2018) and A Silent Voice (2020) 10. Always Be My Maybe (2019)
I can’t stand how in Guardians 2, Ego straight-up admits that he is responsible for Star Lord’s mother’s passing. It’s like the movie went, “well, the characters are now living in paradise, so now what?” It makes Ego look so stupid because a competent antagonist living comfortably wouldn’t own up to terrible things.
He literally saw nothing wrong with it. He told it so casually and was shocked when Peter fought back. Ego is incapable of understanding or feeling human emotion, that's what caused him to slip up in that scene. He also thought he has Quill under his control at that point. Hence the name, Ego. He often overestimates himself which is his downfall.
@@toganium4175 It sounds bad but to him it isn't. He's been around humans long enough to know how they think. He was trying and failed to manipulate Quill.
Ego thinks he has Quill in the palm of his hands, because to Ego nothing is more important than himself. “I know that sounds bad” is him trying to save face and convince Peter when he seems like he’s upset. Ego doesn’t care.
I'm going to be honest I never really liked Mrs Doubtfire. I was really surprised that I heard that people liked it because I feel like it's one of the more weaker Robin Williams film. I appreciate it and I think it has some good qualities I don't think it's one of the best Robin Williams films.
I really hope Shrek 5 is good. It literally feels like 2010 all over again. Back when Toy Story 3 and Shrek 4 came out. Cause in 2026 each movie series will be released only weeks apart from each other. I do have faith Toy Story 5 will be good given who’s involved but I’m still very optimistic at this point.
@@sofiadominguezleon4106 but puss in boots the last wish came out and that proved to be really successful. Apparently it was based used as a lead in to Shrek 5 instead of rushing straight into it which I think is a very smart move.
For the finale chapter Fiona waited too long in the tower I’m guessing Lord Farquaud sent his knights there ( like he was going to do in the beginning of Shrek one) his knights died by the dragon all of them or maybe some ran away but he probably gave up on her and settled for a different princess or he saw what Fiona looked like by the curse since she appeared different in the last film and decided that was a no go. Just a theory though, a Film theory!!
I honestly can't think of a movie I hate that everybody else loves. Video games would be a different story, though. For what it's worth, Xenogears and Majora's Mask, at least as games, but I do enjoy their stories and worlds

Here's my list Avatar Frozen The Wolverine Birds of Prey Toy Story 4 The Sound of Music The 40 Year Old Virgin Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Eh, the 2011 Winnie The Pooh film was a letdown for me, and this is coming from someone who finds that all the other animated Winnie The Pooh films still hold up. I've seen Coco three times, and I'm always mixed on it. I appreciate the family theme, and the twist villain really works, but as a Christian, I struggle with the afterlife setting for several reasons. I understand it's popularity though.
6:30 and to think I am right in the middle of editing a video all about Incredibles 2 lol and yea I agree with alot of what you're saying there. It was pretty undercooked. I still enjoyed it but it wasn't anywhere near better than the original.
Here's some movies I know a lot of people like while I personally hated (completely random order not ranked by any metric): 1. Joker (2019) 2. Leon: the professional (1994) 3. Alice in Wonderland (2010) 4. Cruella (2021) 5. Boyhood (2014) 6. The greatest showman (2017) 7. The loved ones (2009) 8. Mean girls (2004) 9. Girl (2018) 10. The visit (2015) As for your list, I think you had some pretty interesting takes. Though I'm personally not sure if I would call incredibles 2 a movie everyone liked.
I kinda agree with you on Shrek Forever After, just because it was a good progression for the story doesn’t mean it was executed that well. I always found it paced more poorly than the third and also a bit less funny
When everyone was going crazy over Napoleon Dynamite, I was still riding the lightning in a bottle that was Kung Pow! Enter The Fist, and that came out two years before Napoleon 😂😂😂
I only really have four: Bee Movie Zack Snyder’s Justice League How the Grinch Stole Christmas Thor: Ragnarok These I didn’t really hate, but rather don’t buy into the hype
I think the biggest problem with the Incredibles 2 was its marketing. It literally gave away the funniest scene in the movie with Bob trying to help Dash with maths. “Math is math!” I will admit I got a laugh out of it but considering the fact it was already in the trailers, that’s the only thing it had in terms of comedy for it. Except afterwards when Dash gets given fractions of course. But otherwise a lot of people find this movie forgettable and I don’t blame them at all.
One film I never found myself enjoying is The Death of Stalin. I'd see people say how it's this "hilarious comedy" and "biting satire", but I never really found it funny. Don't get me wrong, characters like Zukov or Vasily are the highlights and it would get an occasionally funny line, but I find the subject matter a bit too grim to poke fun at. Regarding your own picks, I won't fault you for not liking some of these, though some of them perplex me, as I'd see people not particularly caring for Incredibles 2 of Shrek Forever After. However, I will agree with you on Napoleon Dynamite, though to say everyone loves it is a bit of an overstatement. I remember it becoming this pop culture phenomenon at the time, with references to it in other media and text message alert adverts on magazines (Remember those?) with "Gawd" tones available. Those who saw it at Sundance created the hype for it, with others wondering what was even so funny about it? As for me, I find the humour too dry to my liking, with the deadpan acting not helping things. Which is strange since Wes Anderson (A director I usually like) does similar things in his films, yet they feel more layered in the comedy or style.
I’ve watched Shrek Forever After a short while ago… and I agree with almost everything you’ve said about it. I don’t like sequels that regresses characters back to square one for no reason and Shrek Forever After is another example of that. I’d be fine with it if the characters still continue to learn and grow from the regression, but didn’t really do it in a way that felt earned in the narrative.
4:31 I once had to do a project on the theme song of Koyaanisqatsi for my music class in high school, I remember choosing it because I liked how unnerving it sounded to me. We never watched the movie though and I still haven't seen it yet. Also is that Pikmin music I hear?
Oooohhh disagree on the number 2 pick by a long mile, but I actually agree on the number 1 pick and I'm saying it as a lover of Robin Williams (I loved Good will hunting)... I actually do have a movie I hate but everyone I know seems to love and that's the 1999 movie called "The virgins suicides". I found it extremely boring and didn't like how the family dynamic was portrayed, especially since it was completely focused on only one of the sisters (the rebellious one) while leaving all the others out, that way when they (spoiler alert) eventually ended their lives, I didn't feel the emotional impact it should've had. I also don't like the tone of the movie: in my opinion if you take out the suicides, it just feels like every late 90s/early 00s high school movie where there's prom and stuff...
This will probably be a very unpopular list of films I hate that everyone loves. These films are not in any particular order 1. Toy Story 4 2. Back to the Future 3. The original Star Wars trilogy (Yes from 1977-1983) 4. Howl's Moving Castle 5. Karate Kid (the original one) 6. The Birds (the original Alfred Hitchcock one) 7. Gone with the Wind (1939) 8. Unbreakable (with Bruce Willis) 9. Coco 10. Cars 3 edit: I forgot a few others on the list: Black Panther, The first Dark Knight (with Christian Bale, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse. I doubt people won't agree with this list, but I'm curious to have a civil discourse about it. :)
For me the biggest "i hate this but everyone loves it" will always be Batman Returns. Everyone praises it for being dark and having good acting and while i agree with the acting being good, danny devito and michell fifer are some of the best performances in any comic book movie and it still is the best looking batman movie imo, it has such an unfocused story that gets shafted for the sake of Burton having as many people die and get disfigured as he wants. Max shreck is a garbage boring character who's only purpose in the story is to kill Selina yet Burton treats him like the emotional core of the film, Batman is a complete non factor in the story and only serves to punch circus clown and get blue balled by Catwoman, Penguin's plan has no sence or urgency to it unlike the Adam West episode it was based on (why would people in gotham trust a scary emo goblin man from the sewers immediately upon him just showing up and running for mayor to the point he gets to effortlessly ruin the current mayor's image), and there are just so many scenes that have like no purpose in the story and never get brought up again. Bruce getting framed for murder and having his batmobile hijacked to the point it kills more people than Joker could ever dream of INCLUDING THE DEATH OF A COUPLE GCPD OFFICERS?? Nope, we never see how this impacts Batman's mission throughout gotham city and he somehow completely solves it by playing some audio of Penguin laughing at gotham at a rally somehow. Max Shreck has a son he sacrifices himself for? Is never in the movie for more than like a minute and we never see how the stuff happening to his father affects him. Penguin betrays Catwoman? we never see her get revenge on him or mention how he tried to kill her and just shows up because the climax needs her to kill Shreck. IMO it's a disjointed, unsatisfying clusterfuck of a movie that feels more like burton just wanted to have people get killed on the big screen rather than a quality batman story, i can SEE why people like it but i dont think itll ever be my thing tbh.
The Dark Knight. A very tedious up its own backside of a film that had something like three endings one after another. And Batman's voice is just laughable.
I never liked Patch Adams for that reason. I liked Robin Williams, I like Mrs. Doubtfire and, sorry, Dead Poet's Society, but Patch Adams is a sorry excuse for telling the life story of a real life person. I did hear tho that while he hated the movie, Hunter Adams didn't hate Robin himself and even visited his home, so if there's any consulation there's that. As for movies I dislike that everyone likes, Avengers: Endgame. Even when I first saw it I thought it was ok, but now in hindsight I really didn't care for it that much. Not a terrible movie, just one I don't like
I bet the other top 10 list with the opposite will be next. I’m only guessing though. Edit: Speaking of Robin Williams, his 73rd birthday is coming up tomorrow.
People started liking Shrek Forever After? I missed this trend. I didn’t hate it or anything, but I don’t think I’ve seen it since I saw it in the theater a decade and change ago
Shrek The Final Chapter is Underrated Dreamworks Movies with Better Villain, Good Story Telling and I like it Much Better Than Shrek The Third is My Least Favorite Dreamworks Films also Guardians Of The Galaxy First, Second & Third is One of My Favorite Movie Trilogy
The Underminer was supposed to be the main villain in The Incredibles 2 but Disney and Pixar had a thing with twist villains. I hope he's the main villain in The Incredibles 3
Two films that I disliked by alot of people love is Mulan Rouge and Frozen. Mulan Rouge has too many fast editing, meaning the camera moves to fast to enjoy the atmosphere most of the time. The characters say love too many times and what Christian did to Satine felt so mean spirited. Frozen is a terrible adaptation of the Snowqueen. Normally I would forgive that since Disney changes things from the source before, but when hurts this film is that Elsa's Ice powers are not explained. Making it very hard for me to take it seriously.
@@joshuaW5621 As a movie, it's spectacular. The art, score and everything is great. However, for a TMNT movie, it's very lacking in what made the comics and tv shows great. I dislike Splinter as a character, the story is very meh, and some of the weapons are poorly represented. Another thing that bothers me, but isn't that major, is the humans and mutants look too much alike when they shouldn't. The art style is good, but the character designs aren't exactly great. Still a good movie though. Hope I didn't offend you and I hope you have a good day!
9) this film is losing favor because the twist has not age well. 7) Have a similar story in my film class but it was a different film. 6) thought the opinion of the general public was it was ok. 3) Same I wanted more of the other character who were affected by the wish. 1) I always thought people didn’t like this film. Even without the fact it’s a bad retelling of the real person, it comes across as a film the by the books Robin Williams film formula.
The movies I hate are Sixteen Candles (disgusting sleaze involving teenagers is just unacceptable), Dead Poets Society (because it apparently glamorizes suicide and the premise is boring as shit), What Women Want (VERY stupid premise, non-existent character development and it aged poorly considering what Mel Gibson ended up doing) and my biggest choice that will piss you off is... Any of the live-action and animated Disney films Because none of them have gotten over with me, it's always something stupid, boring, forgettable, childish or pathetic and I don't see how any of them are funny. It's always something elementary or for live-action films, very lowbrow. They just feel like shallow generic corporate products that just take and no give. I'm sick and tired of sitting through Disney's crap because I get nothing out of them and I just sit there all stonefaced not caring about the story or characters with many of them being recycled or repeat versions of previous films which feels lazy to me. A lot of the songs I just find annoying or even overrated and I'm so tired of people singing them. After finally cutting Disney out of my life since 2013, it seems they've gotten worse over time which makes me glad I did so.
I know a lot of people to this day that still refuse to watch Shrek 4. Despite how messy the story was I do consider it an improvement over the third movie in some aspects. I mean it did mostly get better reviews and it did have a lot of interesting ideas represented even if the execution was very poor overall.
I still think you should check out Guardians 3! It's easily one of the best films in the MCU. It takes itself seriously and has amazing character development. If you don't cry watching that film, you have no soul. It's been so long since I've cried in a theater.
One of the movies that I seen to love that everyone else hates is chicken little… and the movie that I seem to hate and everyone else loves is the movie holes… which I don’t understand because it is absolutely garbage that movie should not have exist and should be buried deep within the vault never to be seen the light of day or destroyed and evidence buried in a deep dark pits of the ocean along with the banana splits movie…. Screw both of them!
I hate the Matrix. Dull lifeless unlikeable characters and stakes I couldn't give less of a shit about. And that hideous green cinematography. Just excruciating to sit through
I’ll never like The Green Knight. It’s heralded as a great testament of modern indie films, but I loathe it with my entire being. It completely desecrates the original story of Sir Gawain, tries to subvert the concept of chivalry as if it was never a real thing to begin with, has pointless scenes that make no sense narratively just to be “artsy”, and an ending that doesn’t even give a proper resolution. I’ll never understand why people like it- it’s peak “you just don’t get it” film snob fodder
I don't mind stylistic/artsy moments, but I agree that movie either went completely overboard with it, or had no clue how to actually integrate everything... all to the point that by the end the entire story felt meaningless. Now, if you want period movie that actually has a proper story to it and balances its artsy moments a whole lot better, I'd recommend The Northman.
So I recently watched Easy Rider.. I went into it with really no expectations or idea what it was about, all I knew was that it had Jack Nicholson in it and I’ve seen a couple of movies with him that a liked a lot. The first 30min of the movie were soooooo slow and boring, then Jack Nicholson shows up and I thought the movie might get interesting from there, but it really didn’t. Just more meandering on motorcycles until they find mardi gras, and before they even get there Jack’s character is beaten to death (which I don’t know how the other characters didn’t die then bc the all looked to have been beaten within an inch of their lives.) Then the characters who lived make it to mardi gras (which the whole scene must’ve been filmed on a backup camera bc I watched the 4k of it and then it dipped in quality for like a solid 3 minutes). And then they get super drugged w these two prostitutes in a cemetery and the whole scene is so jarring and so much spinning around while they’re all yelling and screaming while they’re having sex (and they’re like this Hail Mary chant looping over and over) and that was like 5 minutes i think, but it felt like years. Then after the orgy in the cemetery scene ends the main characters get back on their motorcycles and ride back to L.A. I’m assuming (don’t really remember) and then these two incredibly stereotypical hicks shoot them off the motorcycles and then credits. Now after watching this a went on Reddit to see if anyone else shared my thoughts on the movie, and I found out why the movie was culturally significant at the time and how it brought about the “new Hollywood” era, and it was like the first movie to use a 35mm HD dsl camera and stuff. Like sure cultural relevance is important but like cmon that shouldn’t be the only reason the movie has “held up” for this long. And im not some kid who thinks every movie has to be at a quicker pace, I like lots of slower old movies, but it just didn’t click with me. Sorry the comment was sooo long I just needed to vent my confusion lol.
Gee. My top 10 list: 10. Puss in Boots (the sequel is better) 9. Cars 3 8. Despicable Me 3 7. Monsters University 6. Toy Story 4 5. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water 4. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 3. Disenchanted 2. The Breadwinner 1. Pom Poko.
I've never seen 1&2 but ever other movie is a sequel. And it's normal to not care for sequels. They rarely ever live up to the first ones. Like The Hangover 2 was awful.
First, last, and all else in between and related!
showoff
@@JOKERLIQUIDWALL_yt why do you think he’s a show off?
3:13 same here buddy
nah I think a lot of people didn’t like incredibles 2
I liked it
I think the video on it by Unlucky Tug explains pretty well everything wrong with that film
it's basically just a retread of the first movie but worse in nearly every aspect
I cannot believe I gaslit myself into thinking it was good because tbh it really isn't
I feel like a lot of people did the same as me and then eventually realized how mediocre and boring it is later on
I liked it in First viewing. But now I don't. It's just a poor retreat of the first movie, the more I think about it.
I'm one of those people I was so excited to see it and when I finally did I was so disappointed.
yes i hate i wasted my money seeing it in theaters
If you listen to the commentary, they clarify that it’s not blasphemous at all. It’s heretical.
I'm someone of faith myself and I've always been against those who misinterpret the word of god for their own gain, so to see a film poking fun at the extremists, the idiots and the downright manipulative is hilarious, Jesus himself would probably love this film :)
How does he dislike Life of Brian but love Moral Orel, that show is way more sacrilegious
Tbh I think GOTG 3 is worth a watch. It’s easily the darkest of the 3 and it definitely takes itself more seriously.
I actually know some people who didn’t like it all that much but to each their own. The MCU is currently on a decline so that could be part of the reason why people dismissed it.

To me, I have this weird "love/hate" relationship with the movie.
Nostalgia critic's review of it is probably his best review really funny and his overtop anger feels more justified compared to other reviews as he gets upset at the movie for the misrepresentation of the real life patch Adams
Boomers and gen x'ers do.
It's news to me too because that movie is bilge.

I do. I think it's just as good as the first one and I love the more modern animation.

Can't you at least understand their perspective? Being mocked for one's belief is not something anybody likes.
Wait... people actually like Patch Adams? I mean no judging of course, but I didn't realize it was the majority opinion for this bad movie.
Negative reception to the movie was part of the reason Robin Williams killed himself, so I guess in light of that people changed their opinions on it.

Nah, "Einhorn's a MAN!" is still pretty funny. You're just a snowflake.
Yeah Ace is a movie that has definitely down losing favor over the years
Nah, the twist is still funny. People have become so politically divided nowadays that even mere jokes can be taken as "offensive stereotypes", which from what I've seen, the Einhorn twist most certainly wasn't. It was just intended to be a comic riff on The Crying Game.
Ace Ventura 2 was always the better movie anyways.

While I disagree with Eraserhead one, I think your criticisms are valid. I actually enjoy it a lot, although I don’t think it’s his greatest either.
This is essentially how I feel about Toy Story 4

Gabby Gabby is not a redeemable character and I don't get why the movie tries to redeem her
the movie barely has any good emotional moments
the soundtrack is trying so hard to bank on nostalgia
and overall it just feels like a very unnecessary addition

I totally agree. There is a huge 6-hour video that goes over every scene in the movie and comes to the same conclusion.
For me Star Wars in general, I can see the appeal, but can't bring myself to see them as perfect and peak cinema

I definitely thought number 2 and number 1 were overrated. Not my favorites. I do like Robin Williams but not all of his movies were great.
1) Toy Story 4 (2019)
2) The Social Dilemma (2020)
3) Turning Red (2022)
4) The Aristocats (1970)
5) Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
6) No Hard Feelings (2023)
7) A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
8) The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
9) Turner and Hooch (1989)
10) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
I'd love to see you talk about why you don't like these movies in a video
Finally someone else who doesn’t get Napoleon Dynamite or find it funny.
I was in high school when it came out and everyone thought it was stupid.
I hated that movie. I watched it with 3 other friends & halfway thru we all looked at each other and said "this movie sucks!!" and were pissed at our other friend for telling us to watch it cuz it was "sooooo funny!!"
We turned it off & played some tiger woods golf instead. 😅
Here's my list
Avatar
Frozen
The Wolverine
Birds of Prey
Toy Story 4
The Sound of Music
The 40 Year Old Virgin
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
The one film I hate that everyone else seems to Live is The Chipmunk Adventure from 1987.
I'm probably not gonna get a lot of friends for this, but two films that fit that for me are Winnie the Pooh (2011) and Coco.
@camdencoblentz3245 I'm an Atheist, but the way Imelda was ticked me off.
6:30 and to think I am right in the middle of editing a video all about Incredibles 2 lol and yea I agree with alot of what you're saying there. It was pretty undercooked. I still enjoyed it but it wasn't anywhere near better than the original.
Here's some movies I know a lot of people like while I personally hated (completely random order not ranked by any metric):
1. Joker (2019)
2. Leon: the professional (1994)
3. Alice in Wonderland (2010)
4. Cruella (2021)
5. Boyhood (2014)
6. The greatest showman (2017)
7. The loved ones (2009)
8. Mean girls (2004)
9. Girl (2018)
10. The visit (2015)
As for your list, I think you had some pretty interesting takes. Though I'm personally not sure if I would call incredibles 2 a movie everyone liked.
2004 Mean Girls is a wild take. I can understand hating the 2024 Mean Girls. But not the classic.
I agree, Holy Grail is a near masterpiece
I kinda agree with you on Shrek Forever After, just because it was a good progression for the story doesn’t mean it was executed that well. I always found it paced more poorly than the third and also a bit less funny
Okay, now you have to do a top 10 movies you love that everyone seems to hate.
When everyone was going crazy over Napoleon Dynamite, I was still riding the lightning in a bottle that was Kung Pow! Enter The Fist, and that came out two years before Napoleon 😂😂😂
I only really have four:
Bee Movie
Zack Snyder’s Justice League
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Thor: Ragnarok
These I didn’t really hate, but rather don’t buy into the hype
I actually agree with you on Ace Ventura and Napoleon Dynamite
Feeling so seen with the shrek forever after hate right now. I 100% agree it felt sort of OOC.
I have never like napoleon dynamite even when I was supposed to I just never understood why people liked it 😂
This will probably be a very unpopular list of films I hate that everyone loves. These films are not in any particular order
1. Toy Story 4
2. Back to the Future
3. The original Star Wars trilogy (Yes from 1977-1983)
4. Howl's Moving Castle
5. Karate Kid (the original one)
6. The Birds (the original Alfred Hitchcock one)
7. Gone with the Wind (1939)
8. Unbreakable (with Bruce Willis)
9. Coco
10. Cars 3
edit: I forgot a few others on the list: Black Panther, The first Dark Knight (with Christian Bale, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse.
Not a terrible movie, just one I don't like
Schrafrillas just controls everything
One movie that i dont like but everyone love is wolf children
The only thing I disagree with shrek 4 I loved that Movie
I bet the other top 10 list with the opposite will be next. I’m only guessing though.
Edit: Speaking of Robin Williams, his 73rd birthday is coming up tomorrow.
Happy heavenly birthday to him.
I didn't like Napoleon Dynamite either. I just thought it was boring.
People started liking Shrek Forever After? I missed this trend. I didn’t hate it or anything, but I don’t think I’ve seen it since I saw it in the theater a decade and change ago
The Truman Show is by far my favorite Jim Carrrey movie. It's just so good and show's his acting chops past just pure comedy.
Someone having a different opinion. Me seething over in a corner.
Thanks for the video. I'm super excited for next months! 😁
I dont like TMNT: Mutant Mayhem. I like it as a movie, just not a TMNT movie, y'know?
How come?
I haaaaate How to Train Your Dragon 2 so much
That's one of the few films I've seen that legitimately made me angry.
I like Napoleon Dynamite, but not for the comedy. It’s charming. Same with One Hour Photo.
I love Shrek.
Another list remake huh? Interesting...
1. Fantasia (1940)
2. Turning Red (2022)
3. The Mitchells Vs. The Machines (2021)
4. Frozen (2013)
5. Love Simon (2018)
Any of the live-action and animated Disney films
Because none of them have gotten over with me, it's always something stupid, boring, forgettable, childish or pathetic and I don't see how any of them are funny.
Everyone who commented Incredibles 2 are just bitter that Media Mementos told the truth!
Alright man, not liking pretty much ANY Monty Python movie is pretty much not allowed.
At least you love the Holy Grail.
At least he acknowledged it’s objectively good?
It's just ain't his thing, which is fine (the pythons have made/been apart of some absolute shit).
Oh dear. How sad. Nevermind.
Well what about Eric Idle in The Secret of Nim 2
@@generalstaal7075 I’ve been meaning to watch that, actually. Thanks for the recommendation!
Gee. My top 10 list:
10. Puss in Boots (the sequel is better)
9. Cars 3
8. Despicable Me 3
7. Monsters University
6. Toy Story 4
5. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water
4. Guardians of the Galaxy 3
3. Disenchanted
2. The Breadwinner
1. Pom Poko.
I've never seen 1&2 but ever other movie is a sequel. And it's normal to not care for sequels. They rarely ever live up to the first ones. Like The Hangover 2 was awful.
(Sees Eight Crazy Nights at the end) Uh-oh. We’re really going back there?
I'm betting that his list of movies he likes that everyone else hates is gonna have at least one video game movie on there.
Personally, the reason I’m not for Incredibles 2 and that no one talks about, is that Bob and Helen aren’t as loving as they were in the first movie
I went to school with a kid that for years literally dressed and behaved like Ace Ventura down to the hair and tropical shirts...kids are weird
