I have been watching this video over and over again and again, I really fall in love with this boat, it's design and the functionality, specially that it's really fit solo sailing and one person could be capable of handling all sailing while feeling protected in the cookpit or inside the deck saloon, well there is a long list that's make it my favorite boat, and if I'm going to buy a boat it will be definitely this one. Thank you Torsten Schmidt and your team for making such a great boat.

Torsten and the Sirius family have created a master piece regarding layout on these sailboats. I've seen much bigger boats that "have less space" due to bad planning. When I buy my new sailboat, it'll be a Sirius. Well done Meister!

So right, I've been watching hundreds of boat reviews and have to say that this presentation makes you feel involved within the first second of watching. As Kazooka said above, My wife and I have a new dream and challenge now ! Any feedback from owners sailing in warm waters ?
@@DavidTaylorGlobal Thank you so much for the nice words! Building boats since 49 years now we have about 25% of or boats in very hot and sunny areas and most of the recent built 40s as well as some of the smaller models are in particular chosen to circumnavigate also through a lot of warm areas. This has been taking in account when developing them. The good thing here is that everything good against cold works also against heat. She has a very sound insulation through the whole boat (up to 80mm in the roof alone, and including 30mm Divinycell foam in deck and hull). The deck saloon windows are double glassed, UV protecting tinted and toughed away partly under up to 400mm of roof overhangs. But most important to understand is that a deck saloon is much easier to air through as you do not have to “convince” the air to go down through a hatch, below through the boat and up again out of the companionway. You can just open both side windows (and there could be more to open if really needed) and let the air blow through. Same goes for the many hatches up front on exactly the same level than the huge door and sliding hatch in the back. Biminis and - for being on anchorages and in harbors - additional sun shades are also available. The most effective: a simple L-shaped cover between roof and railing mounted vertically in no time which keeps you all visibility from inside out but stops the sun shining in from above (except of exactly midday only needed on one side). Of cause air conditions are an option but very seldom chosen by people living on board all year round or for extended times
This has to be one of the best designed, engineered, thought out, considerate, well-executed boats I have ever seen. Kudos to the Sirius team for such an amazing achievement.
Great boat. Really good choices in terms of layout the boat. No big open spaces like on Jeanneau, Hanse or Beneteau. This is how it should be done. Safety is here on #1. Im wondering if there wil be a Sirius 45 DS version of this boat in the future.

I just found my dreamboat ! A wonderful boat with a huge amount of good details! No wonder Your boats has won all the prizes they have! And the presentations of Your boats are the Best I've ever seen. Very sympathetic, thorough, full of relevant information and showing all the fine details in a perfect Way. Thanks!

This is how all boats should be designed. In my eyes a normal boat is a floating basement. Everytime you want to go inside, you have to walk into a basement. Imagine buying a summerhouse with only a terasse on top and the rest of the house being underground.... I happened to see one of your boats up close in Aaroesund in Denmark last year. The quality and thought that has gone into all the details (hidden ropes etc.) is simply amazing. A Sirius boat is definitely at the very top of my wishlist😍
Jesus. I don't now which is better, your presentation or the boat. Anyway, this boat, like all your others are amazing. It's as if you thought of all the shortcomings in boats this size and FIXED it. I can't believe what you've been able to do with that space. Well done.

This is just amazing! Have been sailing for 30 years and would choose this one or Moody 45 DS if I could afford a high-end boat like this. I remember first time I saw a Sirius 35 in Sweden; I had to admire it for a long time before I could go on doing something else. These boats make you drool and itch: you just wanna sail it out to a nice anchorage and stay there and enjoy life.
Wow! I thought I have seen the pinnacle of effective space usage and livavility on the 31DS, but oh man, this still surprised me! How to have the advantages of having a two wheel setup... with one wheel. Smart.
Thanks a lot. I am glad you like it! ...and yes, it´s a great feature, offered by Jefa-Steering. I always wonder why we do not see it more often. We are also using it on the Sirius 35 DS
@@SiriusYachts Yes, I don't know, maybe some fear about being less reliable than a single fixed o twin fixed wheels? I personaly feel that having two wheels in a boat of less than, let's say, 55 feet, where both wheels are very near one to the other (often almost at the reach of your arm) is somewhat unneccesary.
There’s a lot I like about these boats; pretty much everything really. But the work room is the most ballingest shit ever. Having a tucked away space with a work table and space to mount extra systems in is genius on a boat this size.
perfect boat in my eyes! there is simply nothing I would expect more. Beautiful design, perfect use of space and many, many very intelligent detail-solutions. I am deeply impressed. A boat of my dreams! Congratulation.

Sirius have produced the Swiss Army Knife of boats - amazing to fit 3 double berths, a work room (amazing) and all that deep under floor food storage in the kitchen, ceramic lined shower - in a 40 foot boat - unbelievable. Ingenuous and innovative. Seems like every cubic centimeter of space has been utilized - feels like a bigger boat.
Your videos are by far the best I have ever seen on any you tube channel...and the same goes for your lovely boats. I watched all three videos now and superbly impressed. Well done !

Hallo liebes Sirius Team!
Once again , awesome ! I was already so impressed by the 35 DS but this blows everything else away out of the water in the 40 foot class from other manufacturers. The fact that you design many versions of that hull to customize for the customer what they really need for cruising and shorter sailing trips . The design of this yacht is a kind of a super vision for the individuality of sailors needs and requirements before the sailor has even thought about what they need for real . How many times have sailors liked items seen at boat shows and been told that it couldnt be made in the model . So Sirius Engineering is able to think out side the box . Well Done ! Keep up the good work !

Amazing yacht Torsten!! This is the evolution of yacht design that the sailing world needs. Experiencing the beauty of the outdoors while in the cockpit or in the protection of the salon in less than 45 feet LOA. Not easy!👌👌
on the 31 presentations, I had a hard time with this guy but I have come to realize he is genuinely excited about his creation and rightfully so its a wonderful vessel

One of my favorite things about yacht design is the clever use of both negative and positive spaces created by a shape. Something about maximising the efficiency of a space really satisfies my desire to get the most value out of something I guess.. That said, I just really love this layout. You've done some really cool things with the raised saloon.
Perfect tour, thank you. I'd love to see one video like this for the version with swing keel, I like the idea of entering shallow rivers. Could you do one and explain the pros and cons of this version? I appreciate your attention.

@@SiriusYachts She was beautiful, sleek, and solid. I loved that all the hatches were flush to the deck and that the beds were not too high. It is important to visit boats to understand how your own body will fit into the space and how your own lifestyle will fit into the space. She is a good fit. :)
@@annabarendt1598 Thanks to let me know and glad you liked it. Totally agree to the experience side. One have to see boats in the flesh…and of cause: bet try them on the water ;-)
Thank you very much and thanks for sharing! For me it´s the interconnection between inside saloon/galley/navi - area with the cockpit, with the all-around-visibility really, which makes sailing so much more sociable and safer as you always stay connected and see if help is needed… and you spare yourself some tiring and getting cold as you can be on full alert and safe watch, even from the inside......and you do get the funniest blank looks if you try to tell a random not-sailor that the special thing on this boat is - that you can actually look out of it - if you are inside -?- ;-)
Omg such a clever and functional solutions with high quality finish can only be done by Gemans! Thank you dear God for German people, just dont lose your country ans spirit! Great boat,SIRIUS is my favorit brand now!

Hallo Torsten Schmidt! Torsten builds amazing boats to be sure. The stuff dreams are made of. That said, it's clear his second passion is dip manufacturing and distribution. Every Sirius is optimized for the making of dips. Every Sirius should come with Torsten's own cookbook: "Ships and Dips."
Yes, indeed. They were developed for this! There have been an number of curcumin-navigations on older yachts even. Some Atlantic crossings. Recently a 40 DS was collected by the owners in Germany and sailed straight back to Vancouver via Canary islands, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Micronesia, Hawaii. A second one just arrived in Barbados. I personally can´t imagine a better concept than a deck saloon for blue water and extended cruises
I´d love a Sirius 48 DS as well, please :-), but if we believe the many testing magazines she already offers the equivalent interior space of a 47-48. But honestly, there will be a larger Sirius once...maybe sooner than later, we already had some meetings about it and are working on first studies...but we do still wonder (why and) where you will need more space. The 40 already features 3 spacious double staterooms, two heads and the workshop. Apart from waterline length for more hull speed we are still searching for additional rectifications for going bigger. Maybe a dingy garage instead of the davits, but this will waiver the possibility of a luxurious aft cabin? … or three instead of 2 of the 3 cabins big enough to be master cabins? …more ideas anybody???
@@SiriusYachts While increasing length its time for Sirius to work on a narrower boats. Less beamy boats, more seaworthy and speedy. As we all know contemporary boats below 45 feets are all too fat due to constraints led by 3 cabin and big "living room space". Cause its still a sailing boat.
@@alexeykozakevich5643 Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Gaining passage speed by increasing the waterline length is the one point, there was no question about. This comes automatically on any bigger boat and if we are talking comfortable cruising boats with good performance and not planing light weight racing cruisers (which would have to be tremendously wide to surf) she will have to be slightly wider for this as well but I am with you that this should be moderate, if you like to keep the good all-round performance. Were as a plus in overall cruising speed is nice, its usually not agued as that an important point on a long distance cruise and going places…
With a bit more beam (say 30cm, 1 feet) one could turn the entrance to the aft cabin, as well as the stb heads, into a real luxury solution and keep the mid ships cabin full-on-luxury on our swing keel designs as well, but this are small gains and optimisations to an already vast interior. Is there more space needed?
Mr. Schmidt, your design team has done wonders with ergonomics, lighting, sight lines, storage, versatility--on and on. My only suggestion is that you replace the outer cockpit swing door with some type of pocket door, as the cockpit footprint is rather small forward of the binnacle. Some designers avoid the horizontal sweep by using a vertically traveling panel.
I never sailed but it is obvious from your naration, this is very functional boat. I watched Island packet, Bavaria and Elan impression before: The missing point here is flow of lines. When you catch up this perfection function-wise, it is time to beautify it. May be you can rethink cabin windows with some oval corners or mold a single organic formed cabin ceiling unified window jambs. Some ovals in furniture may be more pleasing to eye also.
I recently saw a review of a boat made by a yard in Croatia, that has a twin electric saildrive setup, which I found fascinating. A suggestion for a similar setup for a Sirius, either 35ds or 40ds: Saildrive power regeneration together with a wind turbine and a sufficent number of solar panels for charging the battery bank(s), perhaps with a gasoline powered generator for backup (maybe dual function like an air compressor for the scuba tanks too ;) ). Space is saved in the aft for the diesel engine and fittings and fuel tank, though some of that space will obviously go to the added battery capacity and the considerably smaller electric motors. The extra available space could be used to extend the workshop, perhaps moving some of the food stores (like a freezer or a larger fridge) in there. I might suggest a bunk bed but the room is not readily accessible at all time, so ... maybe not ;) With twin screws, bow thruster is not needed = one less complexity element and we're freeing up more space :)
Thanks a lot. I am glad you like it! There has gone a lot of thought and work in the design, but behind this stands a big team who all work with love and passion and thousands of owners ideas from all over the world. Lots of credit to them as well!

Amazing boat and extremely well designed. It’s impressive that we can have 3 cabins, separate shower space, and a hidden workshop in a 40 footer monohull. However, I’d like to see an option with a lighter wood. Is it possible?
This is the one dream sailing yacht to buy when you win the lottery. 😉 It'd be mine for sure, because I just prefer the deck saloon design over that traditional "living in the cellar" design. ❤
thank you. This is my plan to…if time comes. We do already have a number of customers living all year long on board…some as their only home. Some even in very cold countries. ;-) ...I might be a bit biased, but I do always wonder who would build ...or buy ...or even rent a holiday cottage …..overlooking a nice lake .................. with no windows???

Thanks a lot. I am glad you like it! There has gone a lot of thought and work in the design, but behind this stands a big team who all work with love and passion and thousands of owners ideas. Lots of credit to them as well!
I like it too
I just found my dreamboat ! A wonderful boat with a huge amount of good details! No wonder Your boats has won all the prizes they have! And the presentations of Your boats are the Best I've ever seen. Very sympathetic, thorough, full of relevant information and showing all the fine details in a perfect Way. Thanks!
Thanks you very much! This is a great compliment and motivation! it´s my pleasure and very easy to get enthusiastic about ;-) I just love what I do. I am glad you can notice it. On top of this, I am in the lovely position to have our boats built in the exact way I would do it for myself...and I do work for a company with 49 years of tradition and experience in doing just that. If than that many owners bringing in so many ideas and experiences ...something like this could be the result
Well done.
Wow, thanks a lot for this generous vote and sharing your thoughts. I am glad you like it! Have you seen the latest one here?: ruclips.net/video/U7Qby0MZ6m4/видео.html
@@SiriusYachts I did Torsten. I watched it again too. Just an absolute gem of a vessel with all the 'what ifs' figured out.
What a spectacular yacht. I would like more information if that is possible. Thank you Andrew Campbell
Thank you very much! Glad you like it! You will find a lot of additional information and articles to many points on our website www.sirius-yachts.com. There you will also find the contact form for any other questions you might have. We are looking very much forward to learn more about your requirements!
Wow!! So many feature, I had to take a break a few times in watching the video to be able to take it all in!

Amazing how much this ship has to offer in 40ft !! Absolute gem.
This has to be the most interesting design I've ever seen. Absolutely wonderful ideas everywhere!
Fantastic boat and an incredible walkthrough. Excellent information well paced and well thought out.
Glad you liked it!
VERY impressive use of space ... beautiful boat!
There’s a lot I like about these boats; pretty much everything really. But the work room is the most ballingest shit ever. Having a tucked away space with a work table and space to mount extra systems in is genius on a boat this size.
this boat is absolutely fantastic, wow.
Thanks a lot. I am glad you like it! There goes lot of thought and craftsmanship form a big team, who all work with love and passion, into it
perfect boat in my eyes! there is simply nothing I would expect more. Beautiful design, perfect use of space and many, many very intelligent detail-solutions. I am deeply impressed. A boat of my dreams! Congratulation.

This boat is utter, utter genius. 30 years in the trade and never seen anything this good in any size. Make a 45 DS!
This man could sell freezers to Eskimos. The boat is a genius of design. Were I twenty years younger, I would
buy one. This video was very much fun to watch. Kudos!

A wonderful vessel. I am looking at catamarans and center cockpits. Your firm is pointing me more towards your product! Cheers!
Awesome, nothing left to chance, thoroughly thought out in every aspect. Well done!
Ergonomically perfect and good area usage, neat and clean. Thanks.
Thank you for a fine, informative review. Many thanks for leaving out the useless, annoying music so often found in RUclips reviews.
You are very welcome! It was my pleasure!

Beautiful and extremely cleverly designed sailboat!
Hallo liebes Sirius Team!
Incredible boat with much thought with all facets of build and use. I give five strs to the tool box organizer!!
Amazing! ... all that, plus a dance pole!

Not easy!👌👌
Thanks a lot Brain!
KKKK here I am again! I've lost time how many times I've seen these videos! I believe the boat will, at the end, materialize for me!
on the 31 presentations, I had a hard time with this guy but I have come to realize he is genuinely excited about his creation and rightfully so its a wonderful vessel

This is a really good video.
hats off to the team who designed and built it!
Thanks a lot. I am glad you like it! There had been a design competition and a lot of owners input in the lines at the beginning. That was an exciting time…short nights, thought. One of my favorite things about yacht design is the clever use of both negative and positive spaces created by a shape. Something about maximising the efficiency of a space really satisfies my desire to get the most value out of something I guess.. That said, I just really love this layout. You've done some really cool things with the raised saloon.
Thank you, for your kind words
Perfect tour, thank you. I'd love to see one video like this for the version with swing keel, I like the idea of entering shallow rivers.
Could you do one and explain the pros and cons of this version? I appreciate your attention.
Extremely nice boat. Good presentation as well. Thanks.

Just beautiful.
This boat is perfect.
What a nice comment! Thanks a lot!
I am driving to Seattle to see her. So excited!
Hi Anna, and how was your feel seeing her in the flesh?
@@SiriusYachts She was beautiful, sleek, and solid. I loved that all the hatches were flush to the deck and that the beds were not too high. It is important to visit boats to understand how your own body will fit into the space and how your own lifestyle will fit into the space. She is a good fit. :)
@@annabarendt1598 Thanks to let me know and glad you liked it. Totally agree to the experience side. One have to see boats in the flesh…and of cause: bet try them on the water ;-)
A magnificent vessel. Thank you for the comprehensive video.
Already ons of the best design i have seen.
Brilliant layout. Actually thinking about living efficiently as well as sailing in comfort.

This is a really well thought thru boat. Have been on various other sailing vessels but this one tops them all! Definitely a boat I would buy if I had the money :-)

Hallo Torsten Schmidt!
Torsten builds amazing boats to be sure. The stuff dreams are made of.
That said, it's clear his second passion is dip manufacturing and distribution. Every Sirius is optimized for the making of dips.
Every Sirius should come with Torsten's own cookbook: "Ships and Dips."
;-)
genius thought for the workshop space allways good to have a little space wirh a vice and a bench
Incredible use of space. To fit that much in is amazing. Its a TARDIS.
Beautiful boat! Thanks for sharing
You are very welcome! Was fun doing it
seem like a great blue water yacht
Yes, indeed. They were developed for this! There have been an number of curcumin-navigations on older yachts even. Some Atlantic crossings. Recently a 40 DS was collected by the owners in Germany and sailed straight back to Vancouver via Canary islands, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Micronesia, Hawaii. A second one just arrived in Barbados. I personally can´t imagine a better concept than a deck saloon for blue water and extended cruises
Great boat! Looking forward to a larger boats!
What a brilliant boat.
A suggestion for a similar setup for a Sirius, either 35ds or 40ds:
Saildrive power regeneration together with a wind turbine and a sufficent number of solar panels for charging the battery bank(s), perhaps with a gasoline powered generator for backup (maybe dual function like an air compressor for the scuba tanks too ;) ).
I might suggest a bunk bed but the room is not readily accessible at all time, so ... maybe not ;)
With twin screws, bow thruster is not needed = one less complexity element and we're freeing up more space :)
That has some very smart features.
Thanks a lot. I am glad you like it! There has gone a lot of thought and work in the design, but behind this stands a big team who all work with love and passion and thousands of owners ideas from all over the world. Lots of credit to them as well!

Very innovative! Wauquiez makes a comparable boat but this looks more comfortable. Seems a safe boat but also heavy.
Flying to Seattle from California just to see the boat!
It was nice having you on board theses days! hope to see you over Germany soon!
Amazing boat and extremely well designed. It’s impressive that we can have 3 cabins, separate shower space, and a hidden workshop in a 40 footer monohull. However, I’d like to see an option with a lighter wood. Is it possible?
sure, all our boats are made to meassure and built according to your individual prefferences! You are most welcome!
This is the one dream sailing yacht to buy when you win the lottery. 😉
It'd be mine for sure, because I just prefer the deck saloon design over that traditional "living in the cellar" design. ❤
Awesome yacht

WOW Much as iI love multihulls for accomodation and speed this is a brilliant design Id love to live on.Gracious living indeed!
Terrific boat! but "Man-Shed" has not aged well.... but fantastic layout. I am also impressed with your presentation. You seem genuinely enthused about your boats. If i could afford my dream boat..it would a Sirius. Seriously!

@@SiriusYachts Thank you for the presentation, I am a coach potato sailing bathtubes mostly but I really like the joy you show when presenting the result of that hard work. I can really relate to that being an engineer I know how much thought must be put even to determine simple dimensions, distances, angles... when something is thought out well sometimes you don't even notice, only when someone tries to imitate or modify just a little bit - and the whole thing starts kinda fall apart :) Solid job, congratulations! :)
too bad I have a hard time find out at least a ballpark price level, neither on the website nor elsewhere. But I guess since you don't build a lot and you can sell them all it does not bother you too much :)
Keep it up, fair winds
