You both have such an artistic eye in everything you take on, including your videos and music. You’re the best chateau site out there!
What I love the most is how you bring life to every corner of your property … nothing goes unnoticed or neglected … everything is just breathing harmoniously … GOOD JOB GUYS keep up the good work 🫶🏻🌸
I am in absolute agreement!
Doing a beautiful job. Love the sitting area and what you have done with the out building . Lovely
This has become my absolute favorite chateau vlog! I love your decorating and gardening style. And the humor between you two is entertaining! ❤
Amanda when you have the time I would love to see more of your cooking skills I know you were a chef back in the day😊
I agree and was thinking that when I saw the cookies and then forgot after the finale. Please, please do some baking/cooking demos!
I sense a cookbook in the future. 😁🎉
You have made my Saturday !!! Your videos are so artistically and verbally pleasing and a delight to view. Your banter with Lincoln and interaction with dogs and cats never fails to bring a warmth and genuine feeling of respect and kindness YOU ARE THE BEST.
I love the realism of what you do and how you approach things. We see the animals performing, buildings being fixed up , cookies being baked...real everyday stuff and that's what we need these days! All of that mixed with some humour, perfect!!!
Wow, great Saturday surprise! I was wondering how you are going to do this??? Not a one man show I’m afraid! They are magnificent beams! Your cottage is going to be so charming. It’s a beautiful building. Put some climbing roses out and it will be spectacular 💖
Waffle is just a mess! Adore that kitty 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
You are creating some little spots for day drinking! Enjoy, you’re in Brittany!!
And hydrangeas to! They fit so well with this architecture.
@@clairetremblay3023 oh yes! Would be perfect 👍
You do have lovely out buildings. Very special!
You have done a beautiful mixture of old with modern. Love you view shots of the clouds and all your outside birds sounds. Thank you❤
I seem to always say this, but I love your style. The new table area is simple and elegant. I love watching your videos and it was a happy treat to find you on Saturday. Those beams are amazing and installing them will not be easy. Lincoln, please don’t get hurt. xx
Waffle is hilarious! Love your sense of humor.
The building behind the table is such a pretty backdrop. Your out buildings are the nicest of any other chateaus.
They truly are. Chateau Honfleur is in Normandy and was in horrible condition. Surprised Anna and Phillip obtained a mortgage to renovate. As in Chateau La Lande in the Centre-Val de Loire région. Is used as a bed and breakfast, in the middle of Northern France. It's origins which dates back 600 years. Chateau renovations is not for the faint of heart.
What a nice surprise today!!! You always make me laugh. ❤😂
Love your choice of pots with the table. They look lovely together.
I’m hoping sometime you might incorporate some of your cooking talents in your videos. The Chateau is really starting to shine. 😍
Yes! Do a meal each month showing the produce in season.
J’adore votre décoration intérieure comme extérieure. Tout est fait avec beaucoup de goût et de simplicité. Well I guess it’s time to roll up your sleeves again! ❤️
Loved the video. The chocolate chip cookies looked fantastic. My life can be a little chaotic and I just love all the scenery in your videos which include the animals and the plant life, etc. it brings me an incredible amount of peace.
Kudos on having logs turned into good usable beams. That's a much cheaper way of getting what you need. Just a cursory glance at lumber prices in San Antonio, Texas showed a 1-3/4X9-3/4X24 at $225 dollars. Certainly much thinner than what you received from the mill. The beams showing on the outside wall looks great.
Great ideas for your drinking spots. You guys are amazing at the amount of work you both do.
Nice appearances by the dogs, donkeys and of course Waffle doing what she does best.
Thank you for the wonderful surprise on a Saturday!
Your new dining area is beautiful all the white flowers make it so peaceful.
Just want to also applaud you for your music choices.
Wow the place is looking stunning on camera! Well done to both of you.
The garden is really coming on.
Through the wall is what first popped into my head, then I got a head ache…😵💫☺️Please be careful..you can do it!
You two make me gleefully smile. Just WOW, WOW, WOW and thank you for sharing all that you do.
I love your place! And watching all the new projects! May I suggest that you fill that gap between the outside wall and the wood of your herb garden with gravel, because it seems there is a downspout for the gutter system right there. That should help with drainage.
It’s starting to look fantastic your hard work is starting to show
You have some nice "fiddleheads" on those ferns. I am from Nova Scotia, Canada and a spring treat is "fiddleheads". Delicious!
The dining area looks gorgeous. You really have such a talent for interior/outdoor design. The gardens and the grounds are stunning! So lovely! Cheers
Plant mint for your ground cover, it multiplies so you have to keep it in check. Insects hate mint as do the mice/rats and snakes.
Oh my dear!! You are SO cheeky!! I hardly start looking, not really realising whom I'm watching, and you abruptly woke me up to "silly requests for food and water". - therefore the renovation of the cottage for the friends and family right???......Silly things like that let me really enjoy your videos. I really enjoyed this video. Amidst of the fact that I should've actually concentrated on my very complicated task for the day. Have a great week.
So many thinks on the go, when you are finished it will be amazing. ❤❤
You guys have such beautiful videos of flowers and your landscapes! Can't wait to see the army you invite over to put the beams in; take it easy, you two!
You might check out Dan on Escape to rural France. He's rebuilding a burned out chateau and had been lifting I beams up and putting them in place with a dandy lifting machine he pushes around on its wheels and cranks up and down. Its made lifting pretty simple.
A new video! Yeah! I haven’t even watched it yet, but you made my day!
Yes, me too!
So I've noticed Lincoln has a favorite pair of work pants. My hubs and I are the owners of several rental properties, so I have to chuckle at Lincoln's pants because my husband has his favorite "work clothes" that he wears when he goes to do maintenance work at a property. You are both such hard workers and If I were 10 years younger I'd like to do a big reno project, but I just don;t have it in me any more.
Look, Lincoln logs!
Love Lincoln the Laidback gardening with a pickaxe. The new eating area is brilliant hope you have room for a fridge in the outbuilding! When everything is a haul from the house it can be a ****** Best idea is a separate cottage for guests so they don’t need food and water. Strange what people expect. A friend gave us a guest book when we moved here. ´All our guests give pleasure, some by coming and some by going.´ Didn’t realise how true that would be
🤣🤣😫
Love your new outdoor dining space ❤ beautifully decorated ❤
Me too. I love that outdoor dining set. They are beautiful. I love her choice of pots and plants too.
Lincoln as a Gnome would be pretty funny. Maybe Amanda you could make a utube video on the many faces of Lincoln like you did with the cats. I know I would watch it more then once!!!!!!😊
Yay a new video 👍🏻 waffle lounging on the sunny sill 🥰 Guava and Enzo playing 🥰 Lincoln the Garden Gnome 😂 He’d probably prefer to be known as the Action Figure 🦸♂️ (which, in my humble opinion he is!) The donkeys! 😊 The great music 🎵 ❤ and another example of your good taste with the new placement of table, chairs and pots 🪴 I can’t wait to see you tackle the cottage beams. It will be epic! Bon weekend les amis. Reposez-vous avant les gros travaux. And thank you for another superb video
I’m jealous. I want to live
In a chateau
I much appreciate the pace of your daily life. I breathe deeper and slow down. I thank you.
Hi Amanda, just love Waffle lying in the sunshine, you have made lots of garden improvements. The garden is looking a lot cosy with the planters around and some ready for the tulip season.
Here's how to lift the beams. When a house is jacked up , they make a Zenga- type pile of pieces of wood, say 4x6's, called a crib. The beams can be lifted 6" at a time with a crow bar (lever/fulcrum), and you'll put the first 2 foot long pieces of wood down, the lift again and put the second pair of 2 footers across. So on and so forth till you get up to the height you need.
We love staying updated on all of your projects and your lives. Thank you for sharing this with us and we are mightily impressed with all the work you two do and have done since you moved in. WOWSER! Very Impressive! We live in Gig Harbor in Washington state and we love the donkeys and wish we could have one or two also but alas we live in a neighborhood that probably would balk at the sight of donkeys! We will enjoy Uvea and Dominic instead! Thank you again!
On our property (which includes an orchard and vineyard) we have 'created' several outdoor rooms. It's OK to have to use little shims under the table legs to level it. We have a lot of wind here too and move the lighter-weight dining furniture around as necessary to avoid the wind and/or too much sun (or shade 😉) depending on the time of day. I'm loving your channel more and more! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Everything is looking so nice! A labor of love. You are really making the gardens & seating areas work for you. Take a bow or better yet a break once in awhile & enjoy your surroundings! It is beautiful.🌸🌱🌲🌳
We had a beam installed in our kitchen after taking a wall down. The maçon made a hole in the wall just big enough for the beam. Then he lifted it onto his manitou and “ posted” it through the hole into place. Then filled the hole in ! The manitou made it fairly easy.
Your outdoor living spaces are just beautiful! Looking forward to seeing the kitchen herb garden.
I’d love for you to give us tips on cooking and baking from a professionals point of view.
Great place for your table, it’s such a lively court!
Idea: move the potted topiaries (outside of the front door) one step down and back against the building so they look like they flank the front door. Just a thought :)
Good idea!
Greetings, Mother's Day is just about coming to an end here in the USA and I was enjoying your video, as I always do, just don't always comment. I do hope you had a lovely Mother's Day Amanda! The grounds are looking so beautiful this Spring at the French Chateau! Great good luck installing those oak beams😊
Thanks 😊
Love the new seating area - i too am tweaking a few things in the garden but finding my to do list growing daily - love to see more kitties and donkeys thanks for sharing ❤
As I was watching you trim the boxwoods(?) in the planters and I thought: I wonder if Amanda ever just stops and thinks: OMG I live in a chateau in France!
The new outdoor eating area is beautiful. I was admiring the wall and plants before I realized that it was part of the new area and the candle lantern was the perfect touch. Such a neat old building beside it. What was the donkey doing by the front door? 🤣 The sleeping cat made me smile and the dogs wrestling 😂was hilarious. Thanks for another wonderful vlog. You are so fortunate to get rain. At my house in Montana we had no rain in all of April and now it has shot into the ‘80s. 😢
You are going to need some hunky, strong friends to come & help you put the new beams in.
I definitely will be watching for that video! You could sell tickets!
Amando máte úžasný cit pro aranžmá ,jste opravdu skvělá oba jste skvělí. Moc držím palce.
I’d love to see your artfully disguised kitty again another day… That was hilarious! Thanks for another vlog full of inspiration!
Thanks for sharing your different projects on tge vlog. The dining area is lovely and very welcoming. I also like the herb garden close to the chateau. Looking forward always to your charming vlogs!
Beautiful work. It’s amazing what you two have accomplished . Love the sitting area and the bar b q area. Lively plants and pots👏🏻👏🏻
I would have thought those huge beams would be more too. Interesting!
I asked Google Gemini for a price for a rough sawn 8x10 oak beam, 24' long and it said:
Based on the information from Wood Boards and Beams, the current price for a 24' rough oak beam that is 8"x10" is $28.34 per linear foot. Since the beam is 24 feet long, the total price would be $680.16.
Nice work.👌❤️🇳🇱
Thanks ✌️
Totally understand about the wind. Here in SSF or South City where we are, we seem to be in a wind tunnel. I have a lovey back yard now, but the wind can be quite much to the point it makes my eyes water.
We tried to make a protégé garden, but between the wind and how much sun was in an area we had to plant things in different places. But I at least planted a Tangerine, lemon, lime and apple tree.
With all the trees that were falling its good some could be used for you cottage. Trees are expensive to cut down I was shocked how much. And then cutting them to a specific size, I agree you guys got a good deal. So interesting about the beams and the different ways each building was done?
I love the eating area. Beautiful there with the flowers all around.
You can't renovate all the time so I'm glad you're tweaking some spaces where you can enjoy this wonderful place you live. Your raised beds in the walled garden look fantastic!
Just a thought...
If those beams are "green", meaning not dried to a low moisture level, they will warp and twist left in the sun for any length of time.
Love your vids and the way you are light hearted. Great job and good luck setting the beams. You need some manpower!
Graham-Orlando
I'm having container garden envy. The outdoor dining area looks fab!
Hey guys, Make sure you treat the beams for wood worm and also paint the ends 👍
I always look forward to your videos. It's my little getaway to France. Your videos are never boring in fact they are informative. Your chateau is lovely! Keep smiling you two. 😁
The new dining area looks lovely.
An absolutely beautiful video…enjoyed every aspect of it! ❤️
You're doing a fantastic job and your castle is beautiful. If I may just give a little suggestion, the new beams would have look nicer if they would've been squarred by hand, with an ax.
That was one relaxed cat! Hopefully some day you will be able to be that relaxed! Your property looks wonderful...I just wish I had a little of your energy!😅😊
On one of the other Château channels, the guy is building multiple floors and an old burnt out château “ escape to rural France” he has a machine that lift the wood because he’s building it by himself! You might want to check out that channel because he has to lift these large beams also! Maybe you could rent the machine
Amanda, I absolutely LOVE your sense of humor. I never understood “dry” humor until I was in my 50’s. Love it. Your garden is spectacular. About your bench(es), I hope you paint the metal faux wood pieces to look like real wood pieces. JMHO. ❤
I thought beams were thousands! But I'm only an armchair "expert" 😀
I do know that if you leave bulbs in the ground, they multiply, Amanda but I'm sure you knew that😊
It's all looking wonderful 😊
Topiary is much easier to cut with shears. Nice trimmed balls always look good.
I like those benches rustic. Maybe just brushed with a metal brush?
We just turned a garden bed next to the house into perennial herbs & we plant our annual herbs in pots that I winter over or one of our Greenstalks. It is so much nicer to walk out the door to grab fresh herbs when cooking or canning.
Couldn't tell you how much those oak beams would be in the USA but i think you got a deal! Looks like you guys are going to have your hands full the rest of the year gonna make for some great RUclips footage can't wait. Thanks for Sharing...
Everything is looking lovely
Wish the videos were longer! And you funny. LOVE that you don’t blab during the whole video like many other chateau or garden shows.
I really enjoy the classical music you select.
Another fantastic video ❤
The view down the driveway is beautiful. Love the new eating area, looks great with all the plants etc.
You and Lincoln are a great team ! Hard work and a little humor 😂 Things are really looking so nice. Roll on summer😂❤️❤️
Your gardens are coming along so nice. It will be quite an endeavor to get those beams in. Happy Mother's Day, Amanda.❤
Thank you :)
Michael Petherick replaced a beam in his cottage, “Doing It Ourselves” admittedly his beam isn’t as long as what you’ve just recently had delivered. Best of luck.
Those really are beautiful stairs . Someone put a lot of thought into designing them.
Glad you are fixing up places to relax just like Waffle 😹😹😹😹😹Love all the projects and looking forward to seeing how the beams get installed 😍😘
LOVE your style!
The new outdoor space for dining is beautiful!
The new outdoor dining area is lovely and welcoming. I love seeing your pups and cats. Hope the donkeys are doing well. ❤
You have such a great aesthetic at the chateau. I just love the new table area.
A bonus video how lovely❤
Excellent video. The new outdoor eating area is fab
Here in the States, we wouldn't use wood. We'd use steel beams cause, you know...merika. Oak beams would be astronomical. One 8" x10" x 24' beam in pine or fir is around $800. Oak? Can't find them without a deeper search but usually, what is done here, if you want that look, is to wrap the steel beams with whatever wood you want. Much less expensive.
I do have a design idea you might think about with the stone planters at the entry door. What if you put the longer one on the landing and the two round ones below? I just think, to the eye, it might be more appealing?
Happy Mother’s Day Amanda!💐🌸🌼🌷🌻🌺💐
Your videos are a little jewels that make you smile.
