Amanda’s dry wit and Lincoln becoming a debonair Francophone is such a joy to watch and I must admit I am addicted to your channel, especially since in every room there is a cat showing up, whom clearly are the real owners of your chateau. I am a cat mum of 7 as well, so this is like watching what my life looks like on a daily basis! 😂

Those winding stairs are lovely and dramatic! I would put a large pot on the floor, filled with tall dried grasses/flowers from your garden 😊. That way, you could draw the eye to the stairs without adding something heavy, or too much clutter. Also gives you the ability to change out the dried flowers with the seasons, in your copious spare time!

One suggestion for under stairs is a series of drawers, built in to look like a wall, but suitable for storage. Perhaps cookware, electrical appliances, pots and pans, dishes etc, or stuff that you don't want on show. Part could also include an electrical cupboard for using the toaster, food mixer, etc. If painted a neutral colour to match the walls then the structure of the stairs is still a focal point in the room. Good luck!

Architect of 75 kitchens here. May I suggest, from the door end to the stairs: Fridge (tuck it right into that wall at the right and it will disappear), 54" of counter, sink, 54" counter, stove. Continue the counter under the stairs - that will be a great spot for some wonderful "feature" item and some lighting - you do that so well - even a little Christmas tree. The spot next to the stair will likely be your "landing strip" for things when you come hoe or are readying things to leave the next day. Also, get a regular size dishwasher, you have the room and you will use this for more than 2 people like for events. And YES = display shelves across the counter for plates. All the base cabinets should be drawers - 27" wide cabinets are the perfect size for all needs, plates as well as pans. If I had some measurements, I'd draw it up for you.

You can use the building rubble to create the stable under layer for the area you want to gravel. It helps with drainage and will save some euros on the amount of gravel you will need to put on top.
I did it with my building rubble and a small pond that accumulates after rain us gone after 1 hour. Also saves fuel ant trips to the dump...
Carry on and make a list regardless😂😢 sorry its never ending or done❤

When my kids were growing up, lots of their friends had party barns. They amounted to a reno’d barn that was a whole other house on the property. It was used for all social events, adult dinner parties and kid sleepovers, etc. It’s also where the pool and tennis court was located. That way, the main house didn’t have to accommodate guests when there are sick or noisy kids and pets, special objects remain in their place, and a sense of privacy was in tact even when someone brought home a friend. The party barn was an extravagant, but very useful guest house. -The cottage could serve that purpose for you!

Kitchen - Where are you going to keep the vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, coats, boots etc, etc. Makes sense to think about the understairs space. Construct panels for the outside of the staircast so that it matches the cabinets. The washer and dryer can be part of the little room upstairs or maybe put in the bathroom. We have a heat pump in our NY upstate house. We have had it run all winter and it is keeping our four bedroom house warm. In the summer it is an air conditioner. Good luck!

As far as the bathroom goes, you have plenty of room to enlarge it to include a bath and a shower both. You may not eat a bath, but others staying in it may like to have a soak from traveling or visiting. Hugs from Texas!

oh, God, I come from St-Petersburg, Russia - and I'm the one, who can truly appreciate having an umbrella, a beach chair, a sweater, a sunblock and a heater all at once. And using them on the same day)) the weather sucks here!
I can also relate to trying to move the ruble... it's hard, guys. It's really hard😎

When you get the gravel for the driveway, just put it where the tires go, no need to gravel the entire 5' width. Also, grass can still grow in there so the lawn will look consistent if that's a concern.

I find your videos both entertaining and relaxing. How do you and Lincoln have seemingly an endless amount of energy with your projects! The rubble clean up would’ve taken me days with a lot of icy hot and pain relievers. I am amazed and impressed. Please keep giving us these great videos.

You could put a roll top bath tub in the bedroom in the cottage! Make it a feature! The room is big enough for it and you can keep the shower in the bathroom area!

10:06 The space under the stair looks ideal for some kind of small pantry, at least for things you don't use all that often. But I agree about not having it open to view. Alternatively, frame up the space under the lower run of stairs and slip a drawer cabinet into it.
