Just a little comment out of respect and partially to save my own backside… the community police were mostly worried about littering. The Netherlands is probably the cleanest country I’ve visited. Their pothole maintenance is second to none. The amount of bird life is immense, it’s just a shame they poop on everything. I’ve so many good things to say about this amazing country
Yeah, The Nederlands police are always incredibly polite. They do their job well.
Take your Dutch friend along and have a chat with them .... Its better to have them watching out for you and the boat ⛵ rather than watching you.
Is lovely to live here and in summer is amazing on the water. We have so many places you can sail.
Wich Village are you staying in??
Greetings from the Netherlands, Daniëlle 🙋
The roads are a dream compared to the UK, drove back in December and January, and couldn't believe how bad the UK roads are. After living in the Netherlands for 19 years, I took the roads for granted , not anymore. Good luck with your outboard engines.
I love the effort you are making in filming and building. What a changed boat compared to last week 😊
It must be the UK plates on the car that got there attention, the same happened twice to me in Switzerland.
The Swiss are so clean, at home and in nature.
(In the Netherlands we have a problem with littering, people throw their trash around at popular spots)
We all need to take amount and appreciate how hard he's working. Filming and editing on top of the rebuild is a tremendous task.
Ahhh thanks, mate!
Agree
@@WildlingSailing That's what got me subbed to this channel in the first place. He's done a great job with the filming and editing. I love all the attention to detail with camera angles, drone shots, time lapses, good audio, good pacing, ect.
Those outboards will come in handy in the near future , they have worth and trade possibilities. You’d be crazy not to have full accommodations on the topside , galy and sitting room and helm in my opinion !
This channel is getting better and better. I just love this impro and creative non standard boat like solutions you come up with. Also how nice to have people coming and helping you, giving you things. It’s because of your heart that goes to this boat. ❤
The channel also illustrates how someone can live with very little. No 9-5 job, etc.
Much respect to you guys for taking the long way.For this you have now a loyal supporter of the channel. A lot of people could have disregarded the birds.Ggood on you guys.
Get some threaded bar, large washers and locknuts for all those pivot points and then replace with fitted bar when you haul out. Just moving the boat in that condition could mean trouble!
I fear for her structure if she is lifted without those cross spars being properly fastened!
Shot out to Thomas for all the help. Such a legend!
Great progress Mark. It is a daunting job by yourself. Bless Thomas for being so very helpful. Things are moving forward. You are doing a great job with all the things you are doing at one time. Many people have no idea how much you have on your plate. Keep looking forward, you are getting there. ⛵
Awwww Mark,,,you are obviously in your element with the new "lady" in your life ⛵️,,,,& everything you're doing no matter how small is adding to her beauty⛵️,,,,what a star Thomas is by helping you too. Mark, you deserve every happiness,,,,you're working so hard,,,literally can't wait to see her sailing the high seas 🌊 ,,,love love love as always,,🌈🌻Momma🌻🌈
He is certainly happy on his new Boat and sure it will be good when completed.
@westrex5000 ,,,isnt it a joy to watch?⛵️🤗⛵️
I appreciate the fact that there are real good people where you are! Seems like a very friendly country. I know the police being nosey is a pain but at least they are looking out for everyone. I’m from the United States and honestly it’s a mess here. There are good people here but just much harder to find. Too many egos. Keep on my friend excited to see you sail this thing! I think you should name her mission possible!
Yeah. I feel bad commenting on the nosey guys, they’re part of the reason why the Netherlands is so clean. They were mostly worried about littering
@@WildlingSailing you've luckily not come to the usa because the cops would lock you up... destroy the boat and many other horrible creatures would prey on you....
You're like a Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn story in a beautiful country.
If you are looking to involve yourself with good people, Try Boy Scouts of America. Lots of good folks doing good work.
Our country runs on ego, and greed.
Ask me how I know.... if I wasn't dependent on my social (insecurities) monies I would love to be in Europe sailing....
Very good of Thomas to help.
That canoe journey looked very precarious!
They should have towed it over with the other dinghy to be safe. But whatever.
Your channel is an eye opener of optimism mixed with grit and determination. I’m not sure fixing that half baked rotting raft is a good idea, but if anyone can do it, it’s you!
Well you could put the rig up, finish everything and button down the rigging while you're on land and then take it off when the times cones for the crane job. Thomas is a hero!
So good to have help and when it is help that has good knowledge to share in tie down and local ways. Happy to see the progress.
Good drone footage and respect for the geese well done.
Did you keep raising and lowering the drone as you built the deck or will it hover hands free?
Did you keep raising and lowering the drone as you built the deck, or will it hover hands free?
Mark you are "THE MAN" you are doing great, you have made a good job of cleaning the inside of the boat and I can not believe you did it all by your self. Put some
oil on them planks.
Good one Mark. 'Hope the travel to UK went well. That temporary deck will help a lot. I reckon you don't need a long haulout period, because I think you will find the hull completely sound. The rudders definitely need attention, and daggerboard slots may need attention.
Yep! I think if there’s rot below the waterline, it will be at the daggerboard slots
Those goose nests were a PITA but I'm pleased you made the decision to go the long way around. I'd have done the same as you and also been very p'ed off with them.
Thomas is a bluddi great guy! Well done for helping so much, and with such a fun attitude, Thomas!
Wow, you guys are brave paddling the canoe like that. LOL. I was waiting for the splash! I think I would have towed the canoe with the dingy.
I'm so glad someone else thought that too!
looking good Mark you now have an out door platform to for more work, and less risk of taking an unintended plunge. Glad to see you are already getting some help and followers dropping off stuff..good luck getting the motors back to England.....maybe you should price what it might cost to get a tow across the channel to Blighty...cheers Mark
It was good hearing the plans for the deck area. Safe travels.
Yes! It was. It’s nice to have an idea what’s happening instead of guessing. 👍
I don't really gaf about boats if I'm honest with myself. I just support Mark because he is a man of integrity and ingenuity. Keep winning 🤙
You’re far too kind, good sir
You need to get the mast up so you have somewhere to hang the glitterball over your new dance floor!! 😂 Keep up the good work, this is really enjoyable watching 👍
Look at you 81.2 thousand subscribers. Really enjoying the process. Looking forward to seeing you and your Dad working on the engines and other boat things. Go Mark...Having Blokes like Thomas as friends is one of the very best things about the cruising life. They take the words real friends to a new and lovely dimension. Cheers
83.7 and counting. I freakin love it! Especially after all the hate he got for buying an old boat. Hope he hits 100k soon!
What a treasure Thomas is. You are doing so well Mark. Loving your channel mate. Keep on keeping on 👍
Mate you are so fortunate to have Thomas... he is a legend. The boat is looking amazing already. I cant wait to see the progress once you are in a proper boatyard!
Thank goodness for Thomas. Seems like a very nice guy.
I think it would be worthwhile painting your temporary planking with danish woodoil so that they will last until the final job on the boat is proper decking
I can imagine that wood going to be part of the deck house... rustic and wonderful creation as Mark says "comfy and cozy".
Its Douglas Fir, it will easily last for 10 - 15 years untreated.
@@sail4life Maybe, but the weather here can really help the rot accelerate 😉
@@umvhu That's exactly what I was thinking.
Hi Couple of things of Note !!! Firstly the Paraffin Lamps in the boat make sure there is plenty of ventilation as the Carbon Monoxide will fall to the lower levels and if you are sleeping with your head lower this could be a problem or even fatal. Also do not put your Dinghy bungs on the outside if the boat bottoms out it will remove them and you will have a lovely water feature Spring up from the floor of your Dinghy.
Great advice👏⛵️👏⛵️👏
Solid mission, fair play. I initially didnt like this style of boat at all but it's really starting to be something I can get behind.
Great job Mark, must say the boat is growing me.Future plans sound good.Hats off to Thomas for helping. Enjoy your time in the UK with the family.
I hated it when you were in the med and you bought that hideously expensive brand new tender for Minke. It represented everything naff about most RUclips Sailing Channels. But your exuberance and delight as you knock old wine bottle corks into the bottom of your new donated fibreglass tender and paddle away using an old shovel as a paddle fill my heart with warmth. No matter how successful your channel gets Mark, please don't ever stop being you. 😊
Hi Mark, next time fold down the front passenger seat, load the timber on that side. You will get a lot more length into the car. Sit your passenger behind you.
Thanks for posting and sharing. Very kind of Thomas to provide the assistance.
On ya Mark your going alright mate. Missing Yoshi. 🐟 😁
Excellent progress. Yippee, always like it when your Mum and Dad are around. Lovely people like your kind self!!!
Omgoodness, Mark,
I've been watching your vlogs for a few years, and you never cease to amaze .e how you're prepared to go forward with boat life!
Have a wonderful UK visit, and may hugs to Yoshi!
😘😘😘
Mark you are rocking it! Good job on the deck. It’s coming together so well. Fingers crossed you’ll be in a marina/yard in no time. You’ll be flying through the work by then!
All the best,
Daria, Chris & the team! 😊
Great video Mark
Hope you’re trip to the UK goes well and without drama!
You are doing an amazing job on the boat and I am so impressed that you are doing this project. You are also so fortunate to have your parents support in this project. I was very dubious at the beginning and you are proving me wrong. I genuinely wish you all the best of luck and will stick with you until the end 👍. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, RESPECT!👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Find myself eagerly anticipating each of your videos! You doing an amazing job in a very timeous manner. Also growing fonder of the wharram designs through your videos! Keep it up.
I’m finding it really hard to understand why anyone would want one of these wharram’s. Really cramped down below and a bit DIY on top with a garden shed basically plonked on it.
@camillexx rossi I initially had the same thoughts , however after doing some research , most wharram catmarans are hand built by their owners. This I find inspiring as it is more about the journey and the new experiences and not just the luxuries that these owners consider. It could be financial constraints that make you choose a boat of this design or maybe some purely like the design. But each to their own.
Definitely each to their own. Maybe back in the distant past when I remember seeing a huge yacht being built in someone’s back garden when glass Fiber was in its infancy, I was on my paper round then!! This reminds me of that era.
Will be very interesting to see how the actual boat building works out rather than just cleaning. And also the costs of the finished product.
I must say I do like Tomas’s cat.
Of course one of those does have considerable outlay.
Fanbloodytastic. Every week you make me smile. It's the little bits like the wine corks as much as the size of the project that makes it entertaining.
West System and Total Boat should start fighting to have you use their resin. 805,000 subscribers and counting, I never doubted the sense in this boat.
Videos with your dad will be great doing motors and mounts ... he is so smart with motors ... will be looking out for next videos ...😊
I knew I recognized Thomas from somewhere. Watched the videos on his channel just a few days ago. Seems like a really nice guy.
Great vid Mark. Huge respect for avoiding the goose nests even though it was a great inconvenience. Thomas is such a great friend what a treasure.
J love your calm demeanour. Best wishes on your UK trip 👍👍👍
Wooooow. I can’t wait.. pls keep it coming.. I’ll be with you on your journey.. hard work makes the dream work..
So lucky to have a good friend like Tom to help out
I saw on several utube videos where they They had a Wherren canoe catamaran. The area where you just tied the wood deck they had built and installed a helm pod with a bunk in it! Was very nice looking and functional.
Everyone needs a pal like Thomas...
Great project👍 At least its floating and has some nice space to inside now as i saw on a previous video. I have a Harryproa laying in the pieces far from touching water as its just in the woods on Ibiza. Very inspiring to watch your build🤩Keep on😉 Cheers Nic/Germany
You’ve got a lot of work ahead , but on the good side it will make a lot of content 🎉 .. it’s very interesting and fun to watch the progress. Can’t wait to see what you and your dad can make out of those engines. Cheers Mark ! Love your channel.🎉
@Wildling Sailing. Your wharram will have even more soul and spirit after the work you contribute to her!
That canoe ride was so sketchy I virtually felt it. All the more impressive that during the trip and unloading you remained dry.
Looks great and will be so useful, besides being a bridge it can be the floor of a temporary work shop with close and direct access to all.
Good job, glad to hear you're able to head to your folks, gran, etc. I look forward to seeing and hearing all of them, especially you and you dad tinkering in his shop. If they can be I'm sure those engines will be renewed and given a second life.
Cheers from Vancouver, Canada
Your dad is a magician with engines. I have every faith both of you will get those engines working like new.
,,,now THAT is a great definition of our Steve👏⛵️👏⛵️👏
Coming right along with your boat...One step at a time.
You sure footed thing you look liked Nadia Comăneci @2:07 😘👌 Gazelle like almost🤣😂 I subscribed to Thoma's channel. Great update 2x👍
Well done Mark and big up for Thomas the likeminded gent that he is.
The Netherlands is a lovely clean country and everyone I’ve met each time I’ve visited on my motorbike since the 90’s have been very polite and welcoming.
Sadly it shows how much the UK has degenerated over the last few decades and our councils would rather use asphalt to build speed bumps than fill in potholes.
if you put the missing mantle in your kerosene light you will find it puts out a surprising amount of heat and no soot as the mantle finishes the combustion.
The mini-sink would also make a good reflector.
The Jumbo bag on the back...😂😂😂 Get them to fork out Mark!!!!
Looking much better after all the hours of cleaning! The deck will be super handy. Keep up the good work!
Terrific video Mark; good man Thomas. Well done you two! Godspeed.
Cant wait to see this boat finished. The building process is really interesting. I'am restoring my 1968 31ft amel alisio. I thought i have lots to do,but man, looking at work aheaf of you.....i'am fine and almost finished 😂 respect!
Yes , I’m looking forward to seeing the restoration of the motors. Thx for bringing us along. 😊😊😊 Ken
Thanks
I am on board for this trip and excited, can't wait to see more.
Good looking boat, she looks really sound despite the visual condition, go for it!! One thought: maybe check with Hanneke about the lashings from the beams to the hull at some point, theres kind of less loops of rope than I would have imagined? (I'm not a wharram owner but I have experience of boats and boat design and engineering knowledge.)
If those screw drivers break it will be very hard to get the items that fall into the water back on board. Would fix that asap
This series is blowing up, and for good reason too. Really enjoying it. Keep up the great work!!!
haha i instantly recognized the spot were youre ankered, didnt know this was possible in our small country, gives me some inspiration
I am envious of you getting all that wood. The temporary deck looks good and gives a good idea of the actual deck area you get with a Wharram.
Love the bag on the timber a bit stand in the park ish😂❤
Hey good on ya bud, looks like you have a cozy new home in the works
Soooo totally awesome!!!! You are doing such a superb refit!!!!! ⛵
Thomas was a Canoe Zen Master balancing & paddling his way to your Boat
Mark, love the community you pull in around you, a testament to your own genuine and earnest approach. Still missing Yoshi!
Hang in there, gets better every week.
Good stuff mark ... Be warned you need to fix those beams with proper bolts and lashings before you try lifting it... Even moving it as if one hull came detached then 😬... well you'd have two unstable canoes.
Take a look at this guy lashing things down.

Been living in Netherlands for about 15 years, so much cleaner and safer than the UK, but I still miss pie and proper chips. I'm subbing and will keep watching, maybe I can even lend a hand when the weather's a bit better😅
I just recently found your channel and I am hooked I will follow your adventure on this project and I hope you will make it through with a minimal of obstacles and then in a near future get to sail the world. All the best to you!!
Thomas is a freaking legend! Absolute lifesaver.
All the best with you boat. Its great to watch.
No cup holder this week, very disappointing, looking forward to next week, thanks
If you already haven't I'd move in to one of those hulls. Probably the one with the heater. Don't know if I would film much of the material hauling though. For us there is always the ability to fast forward. Good to see the progress. I am beginning to be a Wharam fan, but I don't know crap about boats. It would be great to knock off about 40 years and have a project like that.
Can't wait to see your pop wrenching on those motors.
You're killing it, Mark.
Big thanks to Thomas!
Still the best show on the Tube.
Nice to have a local accomplice whenever engaging in illegal activity, I like Tomas more and more every time he shows up lol.
It looks like you’ve been putting in overtime on the interior, looking good man. Good luck with that pesky UK customs, serves you guys right for being out there alone on your island 😅
Thank you for the video señor!!!❤😊
Slowly but surely it's coming together..! Except for the kitchen sink.. 😜 I said before your life will be all the richer when this project is all completed and then you sail it around the world.. Hope the British customs don't give you earache with your engines.. Till your next upload. 👏👍✌️💯🇬🇧
,,,Soo true George👏⛵️👏
Respect your decision to take the extra time to not disturb the nests!
Enjoy your return Home and good luck with the engines.
i admire your efforts to make the most of this project, want to do something similar myself now lol
So glad you got planks don't for get those planks could be used for other things too. Looking so much better getting interesting with engines again.
Enjoyed the episode Mark, loved the way you guy's work together. I can see your point of having the platform, makes sense to me. Actually looking more like a sailing Vessel. Take care my friend and two thumbs up.👍👍😎
You need a ladder/ walkway at the bow that lowers down for when you beach in shallow waters.
Totally support you mate and have huge amounts of admiration for you and the project! Please get to a boatyard as soon as is humanly possible for your own wellbeing and safety! Appreciate things aren’t always straightforward but I personally hate seeing you struggle! Keep safe and well mate!
Love the new build. It will be a little sad when to leave the quaint spot you’re in now.
James Wharram would thoroughly approve of your methods! I am 5ft 11 & struggle to find a boat I can fit in the berths. I dread to think how anyone who is taller manages, let alone 6ft 5!
Great job Mark , I thought I would just throw this out to all the people who think mark should just go to the boat yard . Cost where I haul my boat for bottom work it costs me $60 dollars a day . Most boatyards won't let you do your own work. I think Mark has the right idea, maybe move to a more accessible Anchorage or affordable moorage.
Excellent adventure this week. Loved the off book use of the bag as over sized load flag🎉😂👊🤙🖖🖖🖖🖖👍
Welcome to the world of boat builders! A good basis for your project. For me, I've finished Kaahua and in one or two months it's time to launch. Like you, I tied the floor between the hulls except that for me it's final.
Epic story telling and there’s no feeling like getting first deck on your boat 🎉🎉🎉
so glad you've got a proper mate like Thomas. You're on a solid path. Lovin' the story. Thanks!!!
I have a stainless round sink that was delivered to me years ago by mistake when I had new kitchen fitted!! I’ll dig it out of the garage and measure it!
