      I have a Mirror dinghy and I'm doing the final set up for doing some over nighting in the Pacific NW. Anchor is an 8lb Danforth with 10ft 5/16" chain and 120ft of 3/8" nylon 3 strand. Have played with it for days and finally found a 'logical?' position for the anchor. I will see in 2 weeks when I do my first overnighter. Gathering up my gear over the next few days to find 'logical?' positions for it. Reefs set up in the main and with 110 and 80% jibs ready to go. Sold my 24ft Bristol Corsair 4 years ago and am very excited for my first short cruise on my Mirror.

    Excellent video Paul! Terry is a hoot too! I picked up a couple of really smart ideas he used in his boat which will of course go in my new boat. I did find it humorous however that 30knot winds kept ya'll on land, we here in Texas especially on our Texas 200 raid have to "suck it up" and just go with it. Keep up the good work! Buddy.

    Crikey Paul you just get better and better. In fact so good that I'd be too ashamed to use the new vid camera I bought about a couple of years ago. Have not even learnt how to switch it on after seeing your excellent work. I've just come back from 26 days sailing the Turkey Beach to the top of Curtis Island area first and then towed down to Urangan/sandy straits/Frazer Island area for the last half. Was out in some heavy stuff and nearly got around to take a bit of video from the phone, but too busy with the boat rounding up every now and then in the big chop. Tiller Pilot not a chance of steering. Keep up your excellent work please-------

    Very fun video. Glad you shared the outboard drag. I was considering building a boat with that well design and now I'm sure to avoid it. The electric outboard looks more convenient. Might add a Jackery inverter and folding solar panels for backup. $$$ Like the idea of a cooking competition or just sharing more ideas on cooking on the boats. What are others cooking?

    Didn’t see anyone other ask … I believe you were at Johnson’s beach (last morning) Gary camping with his tent ⛺️ in the beach. There were some strange whistles (bird calls) n you panned up n there was a strange (to me) white headed bird n then a scene with a pair. I’m curious 🤨??? What are they..?? I know what the Bell Birds are but what were these ?? I’m eagerly trying to learn your Aussie bird Paul.
    It was an amazing Raid n filming. Also liked the interviews with boat owners about their vessels. Very interesting bro.
    Looking forward to the next. Our summer n gardening season about done n your running near the end of your flip/flap winter.
    Cheers 🥂 Nick.

    Sold my boat because I didn’t like the humidity in the cabin when we woke up. Does it bother you as well? Is there a secret how to avoid it? Love your adventures. Cheers from Belgium. 😊

    • @SailingKateLouise
      @SailingKateLouise  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, well being a timber boat and the Australian climate, I don't really get too much humidity in the cabin. There is always a through breeze which is nice especially in summer. However I do get condensation on the inside of the boom tent if there is no wind overnight...but that soon evaporates when the sun comes up. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul

    Brilliant videos Paul at the moment my sailing experience is limited to your productions and a few others. This may sound a little crazy as I have recently bought a Lune whammel! After many hours in the garden the rigging is almost second nature to me, almost. My query to you with a lifetime knowledge and based on Kate Louise being a similar sail configuration (with the exeption of my whammel has a second jib) which is easier to control a mainsail on a boom or without like Kate Louise? Mine càme with two mainsails The larger one requires the removal of the mizzen and quite frankly is so big I think it not for a begginer and as mizzens seem a low maintanance sail I get the feeling that is my starting point the cutter rig I think requires experience! Any advice would be welcome ?

    • @SailingKateLouise
      @SailingKateLouise  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Andrew, Kate Louise is the first boat I've owned with a lugsail (no boom) and it's incredibly simple to sail and rig. A lugsail won't point as well as a main with a boom, but I have a main, whisker pole which in essence is a temporary boom, increasing the sail area presented to the wind when running downwind. Otherwise the main tends to collapse a bit( as there is no boom). I find the mizzen is easy to use, pretty much self tacking. I have a couple of times in light winds rigged my storm sail as a second headsail (like your cutter rig) and it works well. I would stick with the smaller main and cutter rig as it would be easy for you to furl one of the headsails if it gets a bit breezy. Thanks for watching and send me a photo of you on the water (sailingkatelouise@gmail.com), cheers Paul

    • @SailingKateLouise
      @SailingKateLouise  10 месяцев назад

      No I haven't but I will in the next one. I don't know where you are in the world but here in the lake systems we sail in there is very little tidal range unlike the U.K. or France....so anchoring is relatively strait forward as long as you don't drag, thanks for watching, cheers Paul

    If you fellas are putting up with wives who are inclined to spoil your fun, and who for that reason are deceived into not knowing your plans? You really should get divorced and get on with your lives. Or are you afraid of the financial cost of such a venture? Don’t let them spoil it for you mate, they won’t have benevolent considerations for you , when they meet some trendy fella with more money than sense. I didn’t see any women with their own boats there? Such a shame, inclusivity is often more fun. Isn’t it? Thanks for the vid.
