I have 2 149 Cub cadets. They are great machines. In my opinion one of the best IH cubs ever made. Very reliable, easy to work on, and do a ton of work.

Nice tractor! An International garden tractor is on my bucket list.

I grew up as a kid in the 70's operating a 1971 model 149 IH Cub. It had ag tires, wheel weights, hydraulic lift with the 1 point arm in the back for plow, cultivator, disk etc. It was the M1 Abrams tank of garden tractors. The old K series Kohler engines were tough too.

I like those Cub Cadets, I have a Troy-Bilt right now, but I may look at the Cub Cadet closely for my next. That model 149 sure does have a lot of nice features on it, good buy, if you got it for the right price of course. Good one, thanks for sharing, have a nice weekend.

I've always like the wide frame cub cadets. I have a 129 that's been fitted with a 16hp kohler along with hydraulic lift and 128 that have the older style decks and not the rounded style. There both a good tractor

Hello From Mark In Kentucky. I have a 107 IH Cub and a 682 and a 1710 Cub Cadet that I think are some of the best small tractors ever made just like the Cubs that you own.
I purchased the 1710 about a week ago in which I will probably have to go through the wiring and find an electric PTO clutch for.
The engine and transmission are still pretty strong from what I can tell. From seeing your 149, I think that the PTO clutch is more similar to my 107 narrow frame.
A few years ago,, I had a 72 with a bad PTO and a 147 with a bad engine that I sold off and have always regretted my decision thinking back.
Thanks for your great video showing your Cubs.

The pto on yours is the “brake style” pto. My ‘74 149 has it, International started putting them on in September of ‘73. Some people say its better, some say its worse. In my opinion, its worse because its more expensive to rebuild, but better design because it has a brake on it. My poor tractor is in pieces in the barn, but hopefully I’ll be getting it back together soon. Hope to see more of your Cub Cadets!

I believe there was also a 16hp 169 in that series. Nice tractor!

You are correct. The 169 was made near the end of the 1x9 production.

That small lever on the right side of the driveline console between your legs is the hydrostatic transmission valve relief and when you pull it up you should be able to very slowly push or pull the tractor like in "nuetral"; however, that lever on yours looks disconnected or broke because it went up a lot higher on yours when you lifted it than it should.

They make a 169. 16 horsepower version like the 149, hydrolic lift also.

Nice but! I've always wanted a cub cadet, but haven't gotten it yet.
