Timmmburrrr!! Echo makes good equipment.
Looks like you have quite a project ahead of you!
Thanks - lots of work in prep for 2025 hay season… 👍
It sounds like the Echo CS-620PW can really produce some nice power to move through those larger trees. Nice job, good luck with the rest of the clearing, stay safe.
Thanks!
Hey Humble- get a bandsaw in there and mill up some native lumber! That will fix up your wagons!!
That would be great…👍
How much did you pay for it
Sorry that I'm behind on my video watching and commenting. I'll be interested to see how this turns out.
Thanks! Don’t watch to many of my videos, it might make your head hurt… 😎
@@HumbleHaymakers I enjoy hearing about what's going on with hay down there, as you know hay is part of what I do here on this farm, along with oats, corn, and beans. I picked up a new customer who is into harness racing and said that with his contacts at the track, he can sell all the hay I ever have, which is comforting to know.
@@pagrainfarmer Thanks! Best of luck haying and farming in 2025… 👍
Good to still be able to bale hay this time of the year!
Really enjoyed the video! Having someone to film really helps out, wish I had that available more often myself. How many hours are on your Deere?
Thanks! I believe it has around 1,100ish hours. BTW - I was traveling through Lewisburg WV, stopped at Boone Tractor and they have a 2023 year MF 1745D round baler with the deluxe monitor for around $23K if you were interested. It is used, but looks new.
@ I appreciate the info. I’d like a D series but will probably just keep mine and piece it together as it ages. I’m expecting some bearing replacement in the near future. It’s rolled 3,000+ rolls now.
Does your 348 have a hydraulic bale tensioner ?
@@mikerolfe1643 Yes
@@HumbleHaymakers Thank you,I have a 348 with a kicker that's done a lot of bales and thinking of upgrading and getting hydraulic bale tensioner on the next one.
The back of the wagon held! And you found a good camera operator. Double win.
@@farmerpete Yes!!!
Yes it is a nice bale of hay, the JD 348 is doing an awesome job. Congrats on the way your equipment ran along with how the hay you've done and gotten accomplished. Have a good night!
Thanks!
Beautiful little stream. That’s a great valley for farming. Nothing a little rope won’t fix, and now it’s time for a winter rebuild.
Thanks - the round 2 it list is at an all time high!
We can definitely relate to the struggle of finding customers! It's tough to break into any market, especially when you're competing with established businesses
Oh boy, a cliffhanger! Will the back of the wagon fall off the first time a bale hits it?
Ha ha! It’s farming - anything is possible… 😎🙂👍
I get a kick out of that baler slinging them bales 😂 can’t wait til I can do some farming myself. Yours is a good road map for for regular career people to start!
Thanks!
No question about it, the Vermeer TR90 fluffs up hay up nicely. We used the roller bar rake to flip the windrows, just catching it on the nose. I haven't had any trouble with the roping either, all the ones that I seen do that was one cut with a sickle bar. Your hays looking good, I hope it all worked out good for you. Have a good day!
Thanks!
I’ve never seen a 3pt rake up close but they look handy.
They are a nice rake to have in the haying fleet. The New Holland variant was the model 57.
I have 2 Huskies and 2 Stihls , including an MS 250. I'm one of the only people I know who actually likes the flippy caps on the 250. When it's cold out and when I'm wearing gloves, I find the flippy cap much easier to work with. Anyway, great saw. My go to for smaller stuff. A little cold natured but I keep my saws indoors in winter for easier starts. These saws are going on Ebay for about what I paid retail about 5 years ago. Says alot.
A roll-o-bar rake certainly has it's place. It's the right tool in some situations.
There are a ton of New Holland rollabar rakes around here. They just keep going somehow.
My 5055e has a steel strainer behind that cap. That filter you pulled out looks eerily similar to the inner air filter?
I like the 3 point JD 350 rake, would love to have one myself. The hay looks nice, good luck on completing it!
Thanks!
I think it's nice to get this late hay, make some good hay there.
Thanks!
It looks like we actually have 2025 to look forward to! Here's hopin'! 🍻
Fingers crossed…👍
Good to get the last cutting of the season behind you.
Yea - way to late in the season though… 🤨
Your hay is looking good, the tractor and cutter are doing a great job. I hope your week goes well.
Thanks!
Nice hay. Good idea on the side compressors on the baler. The short hay seems to be a pickup problem on the balers l had same thing happen. This year
Thanks!
Good to see your getting the 4th hay crop wrapped up, nice looking hay. Have a good night.
@@Dan-qy1rg Thanks!
Love those big rounds
There will be more of them in 2025…👍
@ It’s like I said before- small squares are handy and more profitable, but big rounds are just much easier to make. You know, I make 4 x3 bales when I roll bedding because they are easier to handle & spread. Would your horse customers like smaller rounds to feed? Would that help sales? Just a thought
Always nice to have a barn full of hay before winter.
Money in the bank… 😎
@@HumbleHaymakers Yes sir.
I hear what your saying about the rain, we usually get 4 inches of rain a month and went 3 months with only about 7 inches or so. A fellow has to plan those things out for storage or he can get in a jam, literally. Sounds like you have a plan in action, good luck, have a good evening!
Thanks!
I have an Echo saw similar to that one. It's a good saw and works very well. The outboard clutch on an Echo is a pain in the tail to work around compared to the inboard clutch on a Stihl.
I always like to hear someone refer to the original version as the 025. I've owned two MS-250's and referred to both of them as the 025. Fine, hard-working saw.
The Vermeer TR90 did a great job, did just what you wanted it to do!
Thanks!
We had a JD 350 rake growing up and we welded the rear swivel wheels into a fixed position and ran it using the conventional A-frame hitch.
My granddaddy had this massey and the bush hog and me and my brother would ride on the back n hold on. Gotta love the late 70s.... I drove family trucks, rode to stores in the back, knew how to shift, climbed fences to ride the horses bareback.... and had to outsmart the neighbors bull to get to a fishing spot.... run the beagles for rabbits and milk the goats. Settle in for heehaw while snapping peas. Priceless. Thanks for the memories.
Glad you got some hay.
Thanks!
I never done a 4th cutting or a 3rd that I can remember, but yours looks good.
Thanks!
Nice hay! Don't think I've ever made 4th cutting. Our growing season is shorter.
Thanks! As far as I know, there has never been a 4th cutting of hay on this farm - even 3rd cuttings are rare.
great video and 149! I have a 1450 and a 982 and love them
Yeah, being retired has it's good and bad points. Good that that you have more time to do things like the hay, but the body is not quite as durable as it once was, so it takes longer to recuperate from little bumps and bruises. We always leave our outside windrow until after we have done at least several or until last. When I was younger my brother would be instructed by our dad to cut the outside first, he felt it needed the most time for curing, but I don't think that matters, if you plan accordingly. Enjoy watching the MF and Krone working as a unit, nice!
Thanks!
I have in the past made Holloween hay but this year l had every thing done early You are doing a good job
Thanks!
I get that it is actually a fair amount of work, but being able to spend a day out in the nice weather and nature is a wonderful thing.
It is…👍
Nice job! Definitely need you a little bigger trailer though if you start doing it much.
Thanks! A wagon is on the list… 👍
Put a 3pt spear on the back of the MF50 and haul two bales from the field to the barn without a second tractor and wagon. I think you had a heavy duty round bale chassis in a prior video you planned to retrofit. As far as round bale storage, Greg Judy channel puts a pair of logs on the ground to keep the bales up out of the dirt and retain feed value.
If you noticed in the video, the rear tires are in very bad shape - I pointed it out. The less revolutions, the better until they are replaced, hence the other tractor. The 3pt spear I have is ineffective in these tight 4x4 bales, it’s diameter is to large vs the bale weight and tends to push the bales over. We plan to put the round bales in our barn vs outdoor storage where as much as 1/3rd of the bale is lost to the elements and may even wrap them in the future if space is limited. While I appreciate the comments, I have a pretty good idea what I’m doing. Question - do you farm? Have you got a RUclips channel I can reference like Greg Judy?
Get two power poles extend the reach hall 6 plus bales with one wagon works great
Did good with the MF 50, I'd keep it and just fix it up as much as you feel like doing. Bales look nice there.
Thanks!
It's well worth having the magnesium case if it is to ever be overhauled. Glad I got the 620 because I would have spent a bunch of time/money modding a 590 to be more like a 620 (and still wouldn't have the mag case. Now I can hop up the 620 when I get tired of how it runs. Didn't get a full wrap as they're not that popular in this area. I've only had one and it was on a big saw from out west. Traded it off the other day. 99cc's! The 620 is the best pro 60-class saw for the bucks and features.
Get creative and put a cross bar. On the lift arms with a ball pull the trailer with the Massey drop and load trailer pull back to barn repeat. Only need one tractor maybe easier on you
Thought of that, but the tires on the MF 50 are in critical condition, hence the JD…
@ just one of my crazy ideas. I have been at hay making in a small way for many years tried a lot of things some good some not so good. I like your methods
You're getting to be an old hand at moving round bales! I might be wrong, but I would think for potential customers there are plenty of people out there with those small, compact tractors that are popular now, that can handle a 4X4 bale.
Ha ha! Much easier without a camera in hand…. Yes - horse customers prefer the 4x4’s and some cattle customers too. I’ve been watching some videos and it is impressive how some of these compact tractors can handle a 4x4 bale.
You're getting a hang of it, just a few little things that can give you problems with plugs. We did one guys field that had cut some small cedars down and left them in the field that caused a lot of plugs for us. Our first round baler was a New Holland 654 and it plugged up much much more than the John Deere 450E, but the NH picked the windrows up better and left less in the field.
