I was going to buy one for my 2020 gmc at4, when I get it. But I keep hearing these stories on the quality. How can they sell a cover for $1000 and it not last longer than a year? Junk
ChevyLee I think they have upped their warranty to 5 years on their REI-fold covers now. But if they play games like this to avoid covering their warranty, it is a poor reflection of their business.

Everyone seems to be forgetting...they didnt keep the old one. BAK is 100% right. Almost NO ONE replaces broken items without some kind of proof of breakage. These guys didnt even take pics of it... I dont feel sorry for them. Just bought a BAKFlip last night.
I got revolver x2 in 2017 for my 2017 f150. Worked great and had to get a new rail because 1 was bent during delivery. They were easy, pictures of the damaged part/section as proof and got a new one within a week.
Revolver x4s has newer and better improvements. Might get it for 2021 f250 8ft.
I was in the market for one and now I changed my mind because of your experience.

I stay away from those roll ones, I have the MX4 on my XD and absolutely love it. Coming up on a year with it and haven’t had any issues. That’s a shame though that they are giving so much BS, honestly the first I’ve heard of so much run around from them.
They cost a small fortune. The leather only lasts a few years before it cracks. It came delivered with metal shavings. I would recommend a low profile hard top tri fold. Same problem with the glue. Not a big deal to reapply. It comes in a spray can.
I bought a bakflip once returned lt leaks like crazy .extang much better keeps it 99 percent dry

I purchased a bak revolver x2 that was manufactured this year (2021) and it no longer comes with the glued on felt material. Mine instead came with individual rubber pieces that attached at each section of the bed cover. It looks like a good improvement that should last. Overall I am happy with the look and performance. I had to call and ask for a part that arrived broken and they shipped it right away with no issues. I did have the serial number.

I work in the aviation industry and I have seen a decline in the quality of the contact adhesives we use. I have been told that the formulation has changed due to environmental concerns! That may or may not be the case here, many of the new epoxies are excellent but it may be the changing or elimination of the VOC’s in the flexible adhesives that are the problem
Yikes! You basically described another guy's dilemma word for word from their Bakflip experience. You have to destroy your old cover? Hey Bakflip, get over yourselves! Your shit DOES fail. Pics should be enough. This is the third video I've seen of someone explaining how they were done wrong by this company. Gonna start adding up Bakflop!! Watch yourselves.

Thanks for the heads up, I was about to order from Bakflip or whatever they are called, I hate companies that give you the runaround or always look for a way to blame the Customer, just so they don't have to warranty the item. This is exactly why i don't own any Samsung Products.

Watch out who you're buying your cover from. If the company is under the Truck Hero company then you'll get the same customer service and similar material quailty as Bak Industries since Bak is under Truck Hero.

I had a BakFlip MX4 on my 2016 Ram 2500 6' 3" bed truck and it held up fine, no problems with it at all. I just traded that truck for a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic ecodiesel with a 5' 7" bed and I ordered a BakFlip MX4 for it as well. You will find videos against every brand of cover out there if you look hard enough. Keep in mind that people love to piss, bitch and moan on the internet about products.

I’m running a Fold A Cover with the hidden Caddy on my truck. Give them a look. I left BAK as well, the Fold a Cover looks great.
I am looking for a folding, roll-up cover. I saw some negative reviews on line about BAK quality, and though not everyone takes care of their equipment the same way. This video has convinced me to by elsewhere, thanks. Looking at a Leer cover.

I’ve had the Truck Covers USA all metal rolling cover on my Sierra 1500 since day 1, going on 3 years, haven’t had a single problem with it. Has drainage plumbing to keep all water out of the bed, retracts by itself, all aluminum, it’s nice man highly recommended.

You have plenty of evidence and customers to back up your argument with them, as far as me I highly recommend Retrax. I have had them on three trucks and I work in the oilfield. I have had the electric one and the manual ones and definitely worth the price.

Had one on my '16 f150 and after about 5 months the felt came off. Contacted the company and they told me to glue it back on. The reason it's there is the top gets really hot sitting in the sun and the felt protects from the heat when rolling. I pulled mine all off and just wore gloves to roll it up. Didn't buy the same when changing trucks. New truck, new undercover armor flex tri cover. Very nice so far. Let me add one comparison. I thought about Bak tri fold but theirs lay against your cab when open. Not good because the cab and bed are independent of each other so the Bak cover will eventually wear the surface of the cab. The undercover does not touch the cab when open. Check it out on realtruck.com

I had one on my truck. The P.O.S. lasted a year at best. Just like in the video mine did the same thing. Also after sitting in the sun you need to wear gloves so you don't burn your hands when opening or closing. And you can break into it with a coat hanger!
I purchased a RETRAX! The only complaint is the one drain plug did not stay in place. Called customer service they sent out new drain plugs. I've had it for 18 months now and no complaints. I recommend it. It's made in North Dakota by people who under stand the different weather conditions through out the country. Not like the pot heads in southern Cal where BAK is made.
My backflip covers a mess too. Definitely not buying them again. The teeth on my cover snapped and the adhesive doesn’t stick too.

I've done so much research and it's really sad the quality you get for $1k for something that is proudly made in the USA. The revolver 2 has a 3 year warranty now, so I went with that cover. I'll just take a photo of the serial number to be safe. Thanks for the video!
I am the same way. Poor customer service is sometimes more important than the product itself. If Bak Industries had stood behind their product, the flaws of the product itself could possibly be forgiven. But if they play games to try to weasel their way out of their warranty, it’s a deal breaker.
was looking at the BaK and Peragon covers for the ram. Each has pros and cons, went with Peragon and so far over the last 6 months it’s been great. But you can’t run the tool box/fuel in the bed and if your cargo slides forward it’s gotta be pulled back to allow the panels to retract. Put the rubber mat in the truck bed and stuff doesn’t slide around much now
@@Built05STI i only get a small amount of dribbles along the perimeter edges and corners, and occasionally see a few water drops in mid areas. has not gotten worse or better in the last 3 years since installation. peragon cover is not waterproof and they don't claim it is either, but for it being so easy to remove, it does exactly what i need it to do.

@@kdanagger6894 Diamond Back is fantastic, but VERY LIMITED. You can't load anything tall or large in the truck. That's not acceptable for me and a lot of others. Price wouldn't bother me if I could still use my truck like a truck.

They changed the design and fixed this issue. The felt is just to grab ahold of in the heat. I am going to buy the x4s which is the new style.

I bought a BAK revolver cover on 4/29/2016 cloth fell off the underside vinyl peeled off the passenger side and tailgate end. I did not get 899$ worth it still works but it's duck taped where the vinyl peeled. Gonna replace it with a trifold no more BAK for this fella. I sent BAK pics and they offered half price and flat 54 shipping. I chatted with real truck bought a Gator SFX trifold free shipping 251.10 plus 13.31 tax total 264.41. Ten-year warranty vinyle.
Usually people that have issues write bad reviews and most satisfied people don’t. I just ordered mine and don’t regret it… yet.
had the same experience with bak covers, mine has holes in it and they wont warranty it. they tell previous customers to destroy cover to get a new 1 through warranty. guy takes off new cover, trades truck in, i purchase said truck with the destroyed cover on it cant haul nothing in bed because of it
So take the damaged cover off of it, I would have never bought the truck with a damaged cover to begin with. Common sense people common sense.
I have a bakflip MX4 and love it. No problems with seals in 120F Arizona heat. Maybe it's all the Tesla and Prius exhaust in commiefornia fucking your rubber up. My buddy has a distributor account and there's almost ZERO profit to resellers on those things a $950 cover is like $800 cost 15% ain't shit. Hard to keep your doors open especially if you have ANY inventory on hand. They seem to make sales on paid reputation and reviews from magazines instead of real world word of mouth and standing behind their product. No one is going to disagree with your position Eddie.

Got a F1, 9 months ago. Paint faded off now you see these white fibers everywhere throughout the cover. Driver's side rail won't lay flat, allows water to leak in... Looks like crap now on a 2018 Denali. Called bak flip, emailed pictures to a person named Misael and he was absolutely of no help. Thier customer service sucks... You pay 1200 bucks for something you expect it to last. Do yourself a favor and buy another brand

Have a Bak Flip, GARBAGE, light usage, wouldn't even call it recreational, rivets pull out, everything rusted out, plastic for the cable pulls busted off entirely. Will never buy one again.
My bakflip ripped off my truck and damage the outside of my tailgate as it smashed to the highway. I replaced it with a competitor of theirs.

Who wants to be a millionaire? Make a tonneau cover that doesn’t leak!! I tried two on my silverados, two different companies and both leak water. The only cover that didn’t leak was my Escalades, the pick up version. So what does GM do that doesn’t allow them to leak? Copy it and make it happen
There is a chincy lever at the tailgate end that is attached with 2 screws. The lower screw has broke on both sides. I can't remove the damn screw. Im well versed in broken screw extraction as I'm a card carrying journeyman machinist with 18 years of experience.
Now ill have to fabricate a lever piece out of aluminum and wend it in place.
This is a serious engineering flaw in my opinion.
I can understand them not wanting to refund when there is no cover to turn in. You could have been scamming them. I do not understand why they haven't repaired or replaced your covers that the rubber has fallen off. Bad business and nothing like bad mouthing a company to really hurt their business. I won't buy one now for my Gladiator.

Depends. I have had a x4 revolver for over 2 years now and still looks and functions like new. I keep my truck garaged and is not a daily driver. Eddie was selling them at one point so knows the commons issues. Keep in mind he is running a Bak cover on his Rammer, despite the issues.

I bought a cheap ass tyger soft top...it tore...like a 1inch tear towards a clip towards the tailgate after 7 months...and to be honest i prolly had it too tight..had a replacement within 2 weeks...all i had to do was fill out the online warranty form w a pic of damage and the serial # etched into a rail and thats it....best warranty experience ever.

You don’t destroy old one and serial number is at the front underneath. They removed the carpet on new ones and sent me a brand new one with rubber pieces underneath. They come with 5yrbwarranty but my new one came and they put new black caps that pop off when you roll it and the slats are coming apart.

I got the revolver x2 and used to love it.. but then the vinyl started shrinking and wrinkling up. Called the company and they said i must've used an oil based cleaner/ protector and it voids the warranty. The adhesives also failed... and the weather stripping started curling up. Several of the aluminum roll up slats have come loose and the plastic tail clips have fallen off... the cover looks like junk on my 2019 ecodiesel. Gotta find a better replacement now because bak is whack
This is why I saved my 25 year old LEER fiberglass hard lid with shocks that’s the ultimate situation if you want a lid with water tight seal
That piece of fabric fell off mine awhile ago. The whole cover itself is shifting. It’s almost like the outside vinyl is shifting. It’s got all these spots on all over it. The finish is terrible.

Bhahaha I provided them tons of photos and still denied the claim due to not having a serial number, like I said if the serial number is that important they should engrave it and not put a cheap little sticker on there

I just got a brand new cover from them. $1,000 total piece of shit! After hours and hours and hours of trying to get to fit properly I gave up. The tailgate won’t close, you can’t get it to latch with the tailgate closed etc. it’s garbage. Took it off and put it back in the box. I pray they take this shit back and give my $1,000 back. What brand do you recommend? The cover I got was the revolver too. The newest version of it.

I’ve been told I’m crazy for hating my Bak flip F1. Thing leaks like a mofo! Little prop arms fall off constantly. Rubber bumpers that protect the cab if you lean it up are falling off. Company wouldn’t pay for me to ship it back so I just kept it and now I talk shit about it to anyone I can to warn not to buy one!

Ya this cover is junk…. Had one an tossed it in the river. Get a Diamondback cover, way better!
I just bought the cover and already regret it. At $1200.00 it leaks at the rails and gaps in the bed, it doesn't keep dust and dirt out while driving, and I had to fix a few quality issues up I delivery (i.e.: delamination of the rubber seals that needed to be glued back together).

Bak is a garbage company. Tried three covers and none of them fit my truck. Costumer service could care less and even said “whatever” when I said I was concerned for their viability after sending the wrong cover three times. Don’t use BAK industries. I now have a Diamond back and it’s over the moon awesome.
