  • After some modifications, time to rebuild the frame.
The question is to buy or build, I chose build. Building an overland pop-up truck camper or a pickup pop up as I like to call it. The plan is to have it act like a wedge camper as well as a full pop up. Not doing the vanlife or trucklife so the camper needs to be able to come on and off. It also needs come apart to store in a small space.
    More info will be here:

List of all dimensions and materials coming later with the same link
If you need a link to anything about the build, just leave a comment and I will get it added.

Take the whole setup to the landfill and drive over their scale. Get your weight. Then weigh again without it. Or vice versa. Truck stops and scrap yards will also have scales but will cost a little bit to weigh.

I use 80/20 along with tube/plate and mig weld all of the permanent connections now.

How strong is the sleeping area? Does the 80/20 have enough support over that cantilevered length?

Still working on it. I am using 1"x2" which can't support the weight. Planning to add some support but haven't tested it out yet. Also it is going to have a hard-side popup so that should add additional support. I think that is all going to work but if not I have other solutions in mind.

Isn't the special connection fitting bad? Why not?

No plans yet. Still trying to figure everything out first. I'll probably put something together when I get closer to done.
