  • Big thanks to the Adams overland company for getting me to tag along to fix this awesome motor and get a full interview and tour with Ollie Ollerton
    What a rare vehicle to camper convert.
    This originally was a 6x6 ambulance that is now a campervan that the whole family can get fully off grid in.

    Wonder if it's running the multi fuel engine? The Pinz I used to drive in Afghanistan ran on pretty much anything and everything. Mainly we fueled ours with AVTUR which I think is aviation fuel. As for off road capability I think I've taken a 4x4 Pinz across worse terrain than I would dare to take a Land Rover!

    • @BenVeenstra
      @BenVeenstra 3 месяца назад

      @@Bugoutvehiclesuk Yeah, subchassis is quite an important choice to make! And if you don't get or know what you want it's not an easy fix after the fact. How much travel you need to have on the springs of the subchassis and how to attach the fixed point where it pivots... You need someone with experience. I'm from the Netherlands so that makes the DAF even cooler! Here I would know who to send you to for that subchassis (even on a budget). I've helped on a Mercedes 1120 4x4 (German fire truck)
      If you need inspiration there is this massive meet in Germany. Willys Fernreisemobiltreffen. It's mainly truck based overland vehicles but If it has wheels and is meant to travel with, you will find one there!
      Nice to see you doing well. You will get to it. I'm sure!

    I like it. I really do like it. Personally, I would like to have a private toilet space inside. That space would ideally also be able to wash one's body if no facilities were close by. For legal reasons of registering as a leisure vehicle, I would also need to have (but not necessarily want) a sink and a fixed cooker of some kind. An onboard toilet is something that I don't have in my caravan, but having stayed somewhere last year where there was a bear alert and bear fireworks being set off not 5 metres from my caravan, the trek to the toilet in the middle of the night was done with much caution! The bear problem has become quite an issue with 'urban bears' now part of everyday vocabulary. (Country is Japan)

    • @Bugoutvehiclesuk

    • @simonblooddevay
      @simonblooddevay 10 дней назад

      Absolutely, to get it reclassified as a motorhome (for UK legal reasons), they (the Man) expect - in addition to the awning this one has - a fixed toilet/bathroom & kitchen else they can push back and you're in the world of invalid insurance and more frequent/stringent checks than just an annual MOT, etc.

It's not about using/having or building something with a 240v hook-up, shower, toilet, microwave, fully functioning kitchen, vanity mirror and hairdryer, it's about having something that can get you from A to B, over any terrain and you can live in/out of as long as needed. Otherwise, you'd buy a Caravan or Winnebago. This vehicle was built to be minimalistic, meaning less to go wrong. Or maybe I just totally misread the statement.🤔

      @@Bugoutvehiclesuk How you interpret it is up to you, it's not meant negatively. Criticism can also be meant to point out something in a neutral or joking way. I can point out a glaring issue and still think a build can look cool which yours does. There I also gave you something positive now :)
