I LOVE my portable B&D unit. It keeps a 650 sq room very cold. And yes I would put a wall unit in if I had widows for it on this room . I love this unit!!!
I have an LG. Had it almost 10 years. Works great. Takes up about a 1foot x 1 foot space. Easy to install. Almost 0 maintenance and no heavy lifting to get it in a window. I am handicapped so this works great.
LG. Takes up about a 1foot x 1 foot space..........I'm curious about this LG, especially about its size and its capability, seems like it'can be used in a tent! Would U kindly give me its model? Thanks in advance.
@@dawnmurphy7488 I don't live in a tent neither (I do when I go camping)! But the size is so small that I thought it should be able to be powered by Big power bank (Jackery, Big Blue...etc that have 200 watt +) in a tent. Thanks anyway, I'm sure I can find out of this particular model when I research at LG.
We are first time home buyers and our 1929 home has no central ac. We are using one of these on each floor and keeps things comfortable! This video was super helpful for installing! We probably would get window units going forward but I do love these!!
window units are more for small sliding windows, if you got ones that you push outwards to open, you probably have to remove that window, if you have that window abit elevated from the wall, where glass in under the window, i would feel it would crush it and that supports wont b easy
I wish I had found your video sooner! I bought an LG 6000, but your instructions are better for my unit than what I found from LG. Your adapters look just like mine. I found the hardest part was threading the adapters onto the flexible hose at both ends. I really wanted to watch someone do this, and that is what I value the most about your video, but it is all excellent. I'm a 68-year-old woman, so lifting a window style A/C in and out for the seasons was not an option for me. The LG I bought does come with security latches. I loved what you did with the foam insulation. My central air outside fan stopped spinning, so I replaced the capacitor, but that did not fix it, so this was an affordable alternative. It will be nice to have a backup, even after I get the central air fixed. Thanks for this! Great job!
Do these cool a room well. My central ac has a refrigerant leak in its suction hose and won't hold any refrigerant at all and the ac tech said that they would need to run a new suction line through attic and they want 1200 dollars to do that. So I'm asking you if these kinds of a portable acs do actually cool a room well? Thanks in advance
@@AaronHatcher Yes they do cool a room and they are a lot cheaper to run. Go to Big Lots and buy the sun blocking curtains they have two pair in a package for $20-$25 which work great to shield the sun. I have these curtains throughout and I have a fan blowing from the living room where the window unit is into the hallway which keeps the first floor nice and cool.
@@AaronHatcher Portables are the least efficient a/c units. Window ones are a step up and split systems are the most efficient plus they give zone control and are super quiet.
I’m with you. I’m a 74 year old woman and couldn’t do a window one. Also I couldn’t get on end threaded do just put it out of window. My windows open outwards so it was all a bit tricky. So worth it though. UK.
My unit is a Black and Decker 12,000BTU and I love it! I have central AC but use this to save electricity (1000w vs 2300w). Portability is the main MAIN reason I bought a...portable unit. I could run mine in a tent if I needed to. I have a small house (1200sqf) and this makes most of the house comfortable, with the living room getting cold. Fans do the job and use 120w combined. My goal is also to use this when they play shenanigans this coming summer here in Kalifornia with power. I have 7200 w of battery storage so I can run this 3/4 of the day, allowing for recharging via sun and duel-fuel generator.
surely the central system would get down to temperature quicker, so you'd be running it for a shorter period of time and therefore use less electricity?
@@darrenbrooks7108 For sure likely if you wanted to get to a fairly cold level. My central AC stays on for hours due to poor insulation in this pre-1975 house. This portable unit stays on much of the day to maintain a comfortable level of coolness when the outside temp is below 85 degrees. My main use is for power outages. Kalifornia will have more brown outs and blackouts this year.
I'm in the same boat! 1960's house in central FL, my poor central air just can't keep up. And frankly I'm tired of cooling the entire house at night just to keep the bedroom at a tolerable sleeping temp. Just took delivery of this 12,000BTU and looking forward to installing tonight!
I bought one in April '22 as well because I knew this year was going to be HOT. Mine is a Toshiba, and the Black and Decker appears to be a rebadged Toshiba. Everything is the same including the remote, except the control buttons on the unit are colored differently for the B&D branding. It cools a room well enough, but forget about sleeping in that room when its on. Its LOUD.
remember, the fan and compressors are LOUD, when i was at this house tent place for 2 days it had an ac, it didnt cool the tent well enough, because no insulation, the air handler is quiet but the evaporater is buzzy, whenever my parents ac is on the outside unit is super quiet, Samsung, if there ever a samsung portable ac, maybe its compressor will be more quiet
I’ve had Toshiba, Black&Decker, and Midea. The Midea wins out by far. Something about that hose, it intakes from the outside instead of the room. Keeps our 400sq ft master room at 63degrees all night in the Texas heat. My central air was costing too much for the entire upper floor. This works faster and costs less.
I have the two hose unit so it doesn't suffer like the single hose models. Also, I only use mine for power loss and I can tell you it keeps a 400 square foot room very cool. Go for the two hose unit.
if the power goes out what do u plug it into to use it. i was looking for something for a hurricane for wks. maybe a powerstation battery to go with it
@@marksmith5468 I have a portable generator that I plug into the house wiring with a generator outlet and lockout switch that disconnects the main outside power first. This is the only safe and legal way to do it. With LED lights your home draws very little once the A/C, stove, water heater and dryer are not running. You can be very comfortable, use the microwave and refrigerator too. a battery unit would run for an hour or two max and a generator can be had for the same money or less. Mine would use less than 5 gallons a day and five, five gallon cans are plenty for any events.
@@mrgoggles1963 Just trying to help. You don't live in South Florida without a hurricane plan. A few random power outages spoils a lot of food when you think it will never go out. One other thing the video said was he never empties the water. Down here I have it attached to a five gallon bucket which after a few days starts to get really full.
@Jay Lakhani I use a Arctic King AKPD-12ER4 12,000 BTU unit. The two hoses are 6" round each. I'm sure you could use it every day but mine is just used for power outage or Main A/C problems (none yet.) With hurricanes it's just when not if.
I've had one of these in my garage for two years, a garage with no windows. I bought it used and it works great. Recently when the AC in the camper broke down I put this in it temporarily and it worked great. I love these things, especially for spaces with either no windows or no "traditional" windows. I recently bought a second one.
Is it possible to use it without a window? Someone told me that I had to put it out a window or it wasn’t safe? Inclement come to RUclips for answers I hope you can help 🙏 what is the consequences of not having it vent outside?
@@VioletHeyoka No. The vent sends out hot air so if it wasn't vented to the outside the machine would be blowing cold air out the front and hot air out the back, defeating the purpose of cooling a space. It doesn't have to be a window. I cut a hole in a wall and put mine in the garage and I cut a hole in the floor and to vent one I put in a camper. Good luck with yours.
You might want to wrap some reflectix around the big exhaust hose to cutdown on the heat it projects. These units are great for basements with the smaller windows
Good unbiased comments... Of course a pro for the portable unit is that it`s portable . I would create a window attachment for another room like a bedroom at night so it would be easy to move the unit to another room as needed.
I have a LG portable air conditioner and it does okay but I think window ac units are really probably the better choice for more efficient cooling a room. I've noticed when the temperature and humidity are really high the portable ac units struggle to cool off a room.
I like the 12000btu window ones by GE or Fridgidaire. Those things are heavy but like you said all of the heat is all on the outside of the window. I have a Portable Toshiba 12000 btu AC unit that i just bought and it works great as of right now. Gets the room from 80 or maybe 81 all the way down to 70. Next year i will probably buy a window AC unit like i previously mentioned. A 12000btu window AC unit would turn my room into a fridge which would be great👍
The compressor in mine stopped turning on after a month of getting it...just in time for the 30 day return window to close up. All it does is blow out warm air. When it did work it was amazing.
Toshiba makes one identical to that but the tube you do not have to thread in its already got a ring attachment that Clips on to the attachment that Clips onto the air conditioner and when you want to take it down or out it dismantles very quick and easy by just pushing on the clips with a hose connection in hose dismantles everything comes off and you can put it up for the season and comes with remote timer sleep mode and you can't angle your vent electronically with the remote or why it runs it remotely goes back and forth on its own so it's not just facing the one direct Direction it goes up and down towards the ceiling back towards waist level so you can either have it on one set angle or you can let it run on its own and it blows back and forth from the ceiling all the way down to waist level check it out it's a really good machine
Those units also create a draft on your home since they only have an out hose, this draft will constantly being in warm moist outside air into the house/structure.
We purchased the exact same unit here for out bedroom in SoCal (Anaheim). Have had it for three years and it’s worked quite well on all but, this most recent heatwave in 2022. I concur with the cons but, in our circumstances I’d be willing to purchase it again.
The #1 best thing you can do to improve one of these units is to Insulate the heck out of that exhaust hose. Ours was reading 170 degrees uninsulated and 98 degrees with the insulation.
I've had this unit for about a year and it's held up well for me. Mine is 14000 BTU heat pump that provides heat in the winter. If you only want AC though I agree, a window unit is better for you. I've gone off of fossil fuels for heat so I love this unit that can both cool and heat for me.
one guy in the comments said he got a free double hose on craigslist for 100 dollars cuz he didnt know how to use it and thought it was broken, some people will lie to you about it to get something expensive for free!
I have this same unit. Going on a few years now. Mine is 8k btu. It works as the first day I had it. It cools a 600 sq foot room. During 100 plus days it gets the room down to mid 70’s fairly easy. I wrapped the exhaust hose up with an insulated cover. You do not feel any heat coming from the unit any longer. It was a great investment. If I bought again I would invest in a 10 or 12k btu bc I like moving it around to larger rooms. Fans do the trick in the meantime. Good review.
first they cool the air than they such it out the window 👎every Crack your house has worm air will get suck in because of the horrible vacuum this fuckers created 👎👎👎
No I got rid of it If you have the window space for a window one they are much better A 800 BTU air conditioning will do the same area as one of these 1500 BTU And you will save a lot on hydro Here's a RUclips video that explains it a bit better of how these units work ruclips.net/video/AELtJfDvkuc/видео.html
@@zenozero913 OK ok hope you're not paying your hydro bills I'm not sure if you're considering buying one but if you do the ones with 2 hoses are much more efficient
On my Polo Cool just cut a considerable length off that hose so it takes up less room and you can push the unit closer to the window. It means there is less hose to heat up.
I got one of these for my birthday for my hot master bedroom. It cools like a freezer, but is so loud when it somes on, and pops the circuit if there are other fans on that circuit. Otherwise I will enjoy the summer more knowing I have a freezer in my room that cools within a few minutes.
When heat vawes are couple of weeks in summer and you can storage it under your table, most of its problems are solvet. Removing moisture can be just as important as cooling the air.
I wonder why this guy is complaining about not having a window unit when this portable unit is specifically made to move around! The window units are stationary… They are completely different categories of machines. It’s almost like eating an apple and complaining that you’re not eating an orange… Get the orange if you want it! These units are almost perfect for what they do. The maker of this video was complaining about this portable unit with its compressor inside which make the unit work harder because of the extra heat…so? Bottom line: if taken care of these machines will last 5 to 10+ years without any problems. These are absolutely solid machines and they’re work horses! They will run forever. And the best part is they will quickly cool a 500-700 square foot room (depending on BTU model) with a comparable quality of a modern luxury hotel room. And that’s not an exaggeration!
We put the weather strip on the window then shut it. Also put the attachments on the hose before attaching to the ac first. I don't like our window unit because it hangs out the window.
I have a Danby 12000 BTU dual hose. my 4th year owned it and works great, i close all bedroom doors then it keeps my whole top floor of my house cool. paid $100 for it off craigslist guy did not know how to use it he thought it was broke.
no ways he sold it for 100 dollars, didnt know how to use it and thought it was broke, thats hilarious!! I guess some people who dont know how to use something expensive have those kind of people who would start lying to them about that hmm, it doesnt work, you can give it to me if you dont want it, like that, i dont know what im saying, its hard for me to make sense
Great Video What I don't like about them is the Noise level makes it hard to sleep. I've been told a more expensive inverter portable air conditioner is much quieter
yeah, they have speeds set, not buzzing, im guessing thats why that tent house ac was loud because it was a non inverter, getting an inverter portable is very expensive, rather get a window unit tho, i heard of the u shaped midea window unit, its so affordable! i feel you must get it since its an inverter and more efficient,
I recommend cutting two 1x1 inch pieces of wood to for in the window frame from the top of the open sash to the top of the window opening. Just a little security.
Have the same one. This thing produces so much water we had to add a hose a giant bin to collect all the water. Of we dont't, it literally spits water out of the vents
You can also control your tent I didn't hear mention being able to control your temp on the Toshiba you can take it down to like 59 I think maybe lower but even so 59 is very cold
i dont know why you cant go colder on a unit, a fridge can go to the negatives, im guessing it freezes the coils and blows the air out, or just continously runs
Is it compatible with swivel windows than open from the bottom, outwards? Most videos show people with sliding windows, but I'm finding this to be difficult as ours aren't like that.
Im using the same one for supplemental ac, our house ac is too small and when its over 100 degrees f it cant keep the back room cool. So i just have to maintain the balance. Perfect for this purpose
So we have an option to collect the water or not? Because I thought we must put the tube and collect the water and dump it, would you please explain that please and thank you! I have some issues on that as I collect the water, it’s keep wetting my carpet and I’m not happy with that, I would appreciate if you be able to explain for me how I can avoid that, thank you!
This unit only comes with 1 hose. It only dumps hot air and creates low pressure. So it sucks hot air into the room through any crevice to replace the air dumped. Extremely inefficient, not worth it IMO.
@@iair-conditiontheoutsideai3076 problem is, its hard, the hose has to be much much bigger, AND at times, it will actually, not cool better if outside air is much hotter, yes you can but it can also sometimes just still create neg pressure a lil bit. go search up a video on where a guy experiments with 2 portable acs, turning one into dual, and other just single, he will have test results on turning it on for 30 mins, showing outside and indoor temp,
@@peppermeat8059 I'm an HVAC tech if it's not a dual hose you are Cooling your condenser with indoor air creating a negative pressure gradient. No matter how much hotter outside it is it will always be most efficient to use outside air to cool your condenser.
I had one similar and I don't like it for one reason. The exhaust hose gets very hot and all the heat gets sucked back into the AC make it very inefficient. I wrapped some tick towels around the hose and held with some elastics. I was able to reduced the exhaust heat by 90%. Also, I put the AC on a stand where the exhaust hose is completely horizontal and short with no bends at all, this makes the heat to escape quickly. I'm puzzle the manufacture can't think of this problem and do something about it.
I always feel the spinning part of anything like a fan does nothing! it always make the room hotter when it does spin left to right but if you put it at just an angle on a partcular spot than it can cool the room a lot easier than having it move left to right, let say a corner.
I have the DeLonghi version of this unit. As a matter of fact I have 2 of them. I'd never buy anything (anymore) from Black and decker, they suck asz. I bought quite a few things from them and learned the hard way. Never again. I've had my Delonghi's for 8 yrs now, they still work like the 1st day. AS for convenience: to each their own. We have an RV. When you take the RV and it's 100+ out side, The RV AC's are not enough so you Hook this bad boy up and it helps A LOT.
I have one thank you you've really helped me so much question can a remote be ordered. I think it fell inside while I was fighting to get it aligned. Thank you just saying Later gator
There's really only one thing to consider when buying these, and that is the SACC rating, or Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity rating. For best results, divide the BTU's by 30, and this gives you the square footage for best results. I install flex duct over the hose, or hoses, to eliminate heat radiating back into the room.
@@dh2392 But the calculation of SACC doesn't apply to dual tube AC's. SACC also doesn't calculate the warm air it attract from outside or other room which is only an issue in single tube AC.
@@hanakogane2234 SACC ratings apply to all portable AC's. Maybe the problem for some is the belief in the common myth that dual hose models always outperform single hose models. Dual hose models have their own inefficiencies. You have 2 hoses radiating heat into the space you're trying to cool instead of just one. You're also using much hotter outside air to cool the condenser than the cooled air inside the room. And two hoses has the potential for more air gaps, or leaks in the block off plate.
@@dh2392 I honestly can't stop laughing. Have you ever bothered at reading the comments on the video you got your information from? It is all false information. It is a fact that a dual hose will always out-perform a single hose, the reason to why is, is because a dual hose simulates what an actual window AC does. It uses outside air to it self, That it is less effective to cool itself doesn't really effect to keeping your room cold, only 1 tube still gets warm and the other tube is room temp. Leaks and gabs doesn't effect a lot. Also a single tube is flawed since the hot air it blows out comes back into the room. A dual hose SACC rating is almost always equal to ASHRAE rating. Also a single hose AC uses more than two times the WATT/Energy of a Dual hose AC, therefore a Dual Hose AC is always and always better.
I spent almost $500.00 on a similar toshiba unit and the hot exhaust vent hose made it worse. Best bang for ur buck is a WINDOW UNIT...... Plus they come with a dehumidifier now a days that freshens up ur place
dehum are expensive, just for that?? but yeah buy a window unit, but their more ugly, theyre more expensive to buy and install, and have fewer features, but if you only use it for cooling , yes!
Does it have to be plugged into window? Just got one of Facebook marketplace that didn’t come with those connections. Will some sort of bad gas leak into room?
Why would you use a portable unit when the right kind of window for A/C mounted unit? The other thing with these crappy hoses is to buy metal tape for all connections and use insulation around the hose for less heat loss.
Thank you very much ..This is a really good instruction video ..I have no choice ..have to use this kind ..id rather take up space than sweat and not be able to sleep this summer ...:)
How is the vapour pushed out of the box when the humidistat controller decides to swtich on the humidfying system but not the inline fan as it isnt within the time frame but the humdity is so low that it forces the controller to switch it on, does it switch it on with the fan?

I have a 1 week old of this exact unit. (Basically brand new)!! I let it run on 70 and it goes great for 2 minutes and then just shuts off. Please help!!
What are you talking about? The hose is exhausting hot humid air. The AC pulls air from inside to cool it and the hose spits out the humid air outside. Man people are dumb....you being one of them. Delete your comment.
The biggest problem with these single-exhaust units is that whatever air is blowing out, the same amount of air is being sucked in from elsewhere in the house. So during summer you are sucking in hot outside air somewhere else in the house. Other parts of the house will get warmer from the outside air being sucked in. Get a dual-hose system that has intake and exhaust hoses.
This would be awesome if they made this for a 2 car garage door. I do not have windows in my garage but if it could be adapted to a garage door like it does for the window would be awesome.
If you are a DIYer, you can run a vent to the outside of the home like a clothes dryer has, and connect the AC exhaust directly to that. Otherwise I'm sure you can get a handyman to install one for you cheap enough.
They are no good for cooling a whole room they are only good to sleep in front of during a short heatwave. The main 2 problems is they also suck cold air out of the room and the extraction tube is not insulated causing heat to come back into the room. The twin duct ones are better which suck in air over the evap and suck out air from the condenser, but surprisingly there is not many of them. You could technically insulate the tube which would make it a little more efficient. They also tend to overflow and leak condensate but some have the option for an external condensate drain.
And you do want to drain the water in this video is says not to but humidity is not what your trying to gain and a house you don't want a humid house you want cold dry air plus buy not draining water you can actually grow bacteria from house dust and whatnot collecting in that water it's not properly drain it will start to turn the mold so you can do whatever you like but I suggest using a hose the little ice chest you don't have to cuddle on your screen or nothing like that it takes several days to even get the ice chest half full avoid the humidity in the mold
I purchase this unit. It’s power cord is extremely Short! I plugged it in to 2 different outlets on my room that are on 2 different circuit Breakers and it blew them both within 10 minutes. I have not been able to use this unit. Very disappointed.
HEY! the manual WARNS YOU TO NOT USE EXTENDERS!! the extender has to have a rated input and output thats very high for air cons. you will have to just get a window unit, that hopefully has a long cord. return your ac
That little plastic screw is only to hold the panels together for shipping. it comes with the metal screws to lock them in place for installation... It mentions them in the installation directions, but I missed them too until I read that... :-)
The biggest problem with a lot of these portable air conditioners (including the one shown in this video) is that they are "single-hose" units, which means that they suck in (relatively cool) indoor air to BOTH expel heat (through the single hose) and to send cooled air into the room. That's inefficient because some amount of the relatively cool indoor air is being lost by being pumped outside through that single hose. If you want a more efficient design, look for a so-called "dual hose" portable air conditioner which works more like a conventional window-mounted air conditioner does. A "dual hose" portable air conditioner sucks in both (relatively cool) indoor air AND (relatively hot) outdoor air, but keeps them separate and uses them differently: The indoor air is cooled further and then expelled indoors, while the outdoor air absorbs the waste heat from the air conditioner and is then expelled outdoors. This is a much more efficient setup than using indoor air for both cooling the room air and getting rid of waste heat.
Absolutely correct. Another disadvantage of single hose portable AC is, it pumps air out of the room, creating low pressure, which sucks in outsode hot air.
I recently bought one made by Toshiba. Works great as of right now. The hoses are right next to each other in one big hose. I put an extension on the one that blows out the heat so i dont get heat brought in by the hose that sucks in the cool air👍👍

One thing not covered which I wish you would have is, monthly cost. What size of room is this cooling? What is the behavior of this portable AC unit within that room? For example, is it running a lot, or does it run maybe say, 8 to 10 minus 2x or 3x an hour, as an example. What additional cost has this added to your utility bill?
do NOT buy one....trust me,it's worth the extra time and work to install a regular window unit besides that 12000 btu is probly around $1000 I just had a friend pay almost $500 for an 8000 btu...loud...leaks on floor, you have to sit in front of it to feel anything & it's only "portable" if each room or wherever you want to move it has a window to hook that jelopy thing to it & like he said all the components are on it inside so it get hot.....really hot...biggest rip-off ...hope this helps 👍
This thing is awful. I cannot believe you lasted 1 whole year with this. I bought one and returned it a week after. I live in a small bedroom with a bed and a tv that barely fit there. The summer was long and hot, 95 degrees Fahrenheit average on the week. I bought this small unit and guess what this thing was warming up my room even more. It leaks water and makes a lot of noise. Takes a ton of space and that tube in the back is the biggest pain ever. I bought the 10k BTU. I ended up just buying the window unit. This was a good review props to you for not being bias. Just buy a window unit and buy a stand.
Has anyone had theirs for over 2 years. Mine is having trouble cooling. Only use it from May-Sept each year then it's off until next year. I clean the filter after each use but this summer it just stopped cooling.
Is that both a/c and heater? If both then do you disconnect the window attachment during winter and just use the machine as it is meaning you can plug it anywhere inside your house for heating?

@@winstonsmiths2449 ah I see :)
I'm in the same boat! 1960's house in central FL, my poor central air just can't keep up. And frankly I'm tired of cooling the entire house at night just to keep the bedroom at a tolerable sleeping temp. Just took delivery of this 12,000BTU and looking forward to installing tonight!
I'm in SoCal and we're just coming out of a heatwave that was brutal. I don't have ac but will never be without it again. I'll buy a portable ac.

Good
Is it possible to use it without a window? Someone told me that I had to put it out a window or it wasn’t safe? Inclement come to RUclips for answers I hope you can help 🙏 what is the consequences of not having it vent outside?
@@VioletHeyoka No. The vent sends out hot air so if it wasn't vented to the outside the machine would be blowing cold air out the front and hot air out the back, defeating the purpose of cooling a space. It doesn't have to be a window. I cut a hole in a wall and put mine in the garage and I cut a hole in the floor and to vent one I put in a camper. Good luck with yours.

I have a Portable Toshiba 12000 btu AC unit that i just bought and it works great as of right now. Gets the room from 80 or maybe 81 all the way down to 70. I have one just like this. Got 2 months ago and I love it. Thank you!
How cold does it keep your room please
Does it cool in 100 degrees weather
The compressor in mine stopped turning on after a month of getting it...just in time for the 30 day return window to close up. All it does is blow out warm air. When it did work it was amazing.
I have a Hunter and that portable A/C runs like a champ!
@3:00 - actually the tubing that is included is for the dehumidifier function of the unit.
You mean a negative pressure?
We purchased the exact same unit here for out bedroom in SoCal (Anaheim). Have had it for three years and it’s worked quite well on all but, this most recent heatwave in 2022. I concur with the cons but, in our circumstances I’d be willing to purchase it again.
The #1 best thing you can do to improve one of these units is to Insulate the heck out of that exhaust hose.
Ours was reading 170 degrees uninsulated and 98 degrees with the insulation.
170 degrees?? Shoot you could slow roast a pork in that hose
I've had this unit for about a year and it's held up well for me. Mine is 14000 BTU heat pump that provides heat in the winter. If you only want AC though I agree, a window unit is better for you. I've gone off of fossil fuels for heat so I love this unit that can both cool and heat for me.

On my Polo Cool just cut a considerable length off that hose so it takes up less room and you can push the unit closer to the window.

I have one when my ac went out. The thing I can’t put an ac window unit thanks to HOA so this worked great for me.
@0:36 - a lot of people make the mistake of threading it turning clockwise when it needs to be threaded counter-clockwise.

Great Video What I don't like about them is the Noise level makes it hard to sleep. I've been told a more expensive inverter portable air conditioner is much quieter

I had to get one for my camper. Window is a crank and I have to Jimmy rig a contraption to stick in the window so it will stay.
I recommend cutting two 1x1 inch pieces of wood to for in the window frame from the top of the open sash to the top of the window opening. Just a little security.
@1:43 - I would have used that weatherstripping for the window itself and not cut in half for the window plate.
Have the same one. This thing produces so much water we had to add a hose a giant bin to collect all the water. Of we dont't, it literally spits water out of the vents
geez it really overfills?
Bro wrap the tubing in reflectix. The bubble foil wrap stuff. It will help greatly!

Can you explain ?
You can also control your tent I didn't hear mention being able to control your temp on the Toshiba you can take it down to like 59 I think maybe lower but even so 59 is very cold
i dont know why you cant go colder on a unit, a fridge can go to the negatives, im guessing it freezes the coils and blows the air out, or just continously runs
Good video. It would have been nice if you had mentioned if this unit effectively cooled down your room or not though.
Not enough for sure
Heads up they make them with heat as well so you don't have to take it in and out of the window.
Last but not least gray video was not trying to knock the video at all I was very happy to see a video on this type of unit thumbs up good job
Biggest problem with one-tube portable AC is that it suck hot air from outside as replacement for the air it pushes out..
I would add a second hose it would make this unit actually cool the room because right now you're creating a negative pressure gradient
This unit only comes with 1 hose. It only dumps hot air and creates low pressure. So it sucks hot air into the room through any crevice to replace the air dumped. Extremely inefficient, not worth it IMO.
@@WhiskeyCharged correct. But if you DIY a second hose to the condenser and cool it via outside air it will not create low pressure

Wow dude, great review, thank you!
Imma try this, cause I’ve had 2 LG window ac and they both went out.
I HAVE ONE AND THIS WORKS GREAT. JUST LIKE ANY AIR
Your feelings are wrong.
I have the DeLonghi version of this unit. As a matter of fact I have 2 of them. I'd never buy anything (anymore) from Black and decker, they suck asz. I wanna now buy so nice for two bedroom how’s colder
You can explain about that 🙏
There's really only one thing to consider when buying these, and that is the SACC rating, or Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity rating. For best results, divide the BTU's by 30, and this gives you the square footage for best results.
I install flex duct over the hose, or hoses, to eliminate heat radiating back into the room.
SACC rating doesn't really matter.
@@hanakogane2234 it's the only thing that matters as it's the most accurate BTU rating.

The return air for the condensation should be fresh air fro outside the window not from the room...
The hose doesn’t pull air from outside it dumps the hot air outside
What are you talking about? The hose is exhausting hot humid air. The AC pulls air from inside to cool it and the hose spits out the humid air outside. Man people are dumb....you being one of them. Delete your comment.
The biggest problem with these single-exhaust units is that whatever air is blowing out, the same amount of air is being sucked in from elsewhere in the house.
So during summer you are sucking in hot outside air somewhere else in the house. Other parts of the house will get warmer from the outside air being sucked in. Get a dual-hose system that has intake and exhaust hoses.
good luck finding one thats affordable and in stock!

This would be awesome if they made this for a 2 car garage door. I do not have windows in my garage but if it could be adapted to a garage door like it does for the window would be awesome.
I bought this for hubby, hoping this would work in the garage. Dang this sucks
If you are a DIYer, you can run a vent to the outside of the home like a clothes dryer has, and connect the AC exhaust directly to that. Otherwise I'm sure you can get a handyman to install one for you cheap enough.
sadly, you gotta go for an mini split,
So you made the portable aircon stable?
If possibly use a regular window unit. they are more efficient at cooling.
as yo ucan see, it be more inconvenient, and would work as well because of that lip on his window
And you do want to drain the water in this video is says not to but humidity is not what your trying to gain and a house you don't want a humid house you want cold dry air plus buy not draining water you can actually grow bacteria from house dust and whatnot collecting in that water it's not properly drain it will start to turn the mold so you can do whatever you like but I suggest using a hose the little ice chest you don't have to cuddle on your screen or nothing like that it takes several days to even get the ice chest half full avoid the humidity in the mold
but you still need some humidity, since it dries out your nose and its horrible
Very intuitive ❤
I am curious though if the Black Decker model is quiet compared to the LG version of the same unit.
Thank u
Great explanation
Absolutely correct. Another disadvantage of single hose portable AC is, it pumps air out of the room, creating low pressure, which sucks in outsode hot air.
@Jay Lakhani I don't have any specific AC model recommendations. I was just curious about how they are engineered and so I looked into that.
I recently bought one made by Toshiba. Works great as of right now. The hoses are right next to each other in one big hose. I put an extension on the one that blows out the heat so i dont get heat brought in by the hose that sucks in the cool air👍👍

Yea, something going on there.

Have u thot about having it upstairs? Or highest point in the house? Cold sinks. Heat rises.
It's not a house AC unit. It's for small rooms.
Is that both a/c and heater? If both then do you disconnect the window attachment during winter and just use the machine as it is meaning you can plug it anywhere inside your house for heating?
no, you can change modes, to heating mode,
