I love that you shared a real life struggle! 😍 so often we only see the others doing things "perfectly" because we dont see the struggles. That can be really discouraging! But, see another mom share a problem and work through how she is handling that is incredibly inspiring & encouraging!
Thats a great video!! I struggle with my son’s attitude doing school, not because he wants to play video games or watch tv, but to go play outside 😅 we love playing outside but he already plays 3-5h outside at 7 years old. I want him to do other things
I've got nail polish ideas too! finding non toxic nail polish (researching what chemicals make nail polish toxic and why) -making your own nail polish out of natural dyes -designing nail art on a large piece of paper with art supplies -research how to start a nail salon business
I'm from The Bahamas, former classroom teacher, now homeschooler of my 2 boys (interesting in engineering and coding). I was gifted one of your books over a year ago but just 'discovered' your videos last month (Dec. 2024). Your method is what I'd initially envisioned for homeschool but didn't know how to get there. I'm listening to your videos daily and it's totally transforming our homeschooling moving forward. I'm unlearning so many things to welcome the NEW! THANK YOU for sharing your journey with the world!
What if you made her a book about style and body care and it could include pages of fingers (with nails) where she could color and create concept art for the nails? She could design styles even if she's not wearing them herself. Or she could make stick-on stickers (art) for nails? Makes me think how pretty nails must feel so beautiful and fancy to her and maybe that's something that can be leaned into in some other ways!
Thought of something similar, she could also research natural, non-toxic fingernail polish (didn't even know some brands are vegan). It could become a science lesson to create a 'healthier' fingernail polish brand, along with what @bonnie.loveday recommended!
I needed this today! I’ve been stressing so bad about my kids education and how to tick all the boxes but also create a love for learning and exploring! Now to grab some supplies for my momschooling basket!
I love how real you are. You hit so many things that I needed. Last year I was in survival mode I lost my brother and my dog, had an accident and have a concussion as well as my husband had another operation. This year I plan to get everything on track, I want to not only funschool well I want to publish a recipe book. You are such an inspiration, I only have 7 kids so hopefully I can get there.❤
Gosh you're a God-send for me. I've been in such a rut with my 8 year old son and his attitude about learning and doing anything other than video games. I just don't know how to shift his mind set but what you said makes TOTAL sense and I'm going to try it this next week!!! THANK YOU for that perspective and please keep making more videos about how to motivate kids to do their school work and learn new things 🙏 I think it's a hard aspect of homeschooling for a lot of people. ❤️
Loved everything about this video. Love your pleasant and happy demeanor in these also:) I really appreciated you encouraging us moms to not try to do all the things but rather prioritize, and give time for the wants and desires. I had got down prioritizing habits but kinda lost that for a while, so needed to hear that to get back to working smart not hard ;)
I love the advice on getting out of survival mode. I’m definitely there right now. I have six kids, from age 12 to 4 months. It’s our first year homeschooling and I’m still trying to figure it all out. My husband is self-employed and works long hours to take care of his growing company. I feel like I can never keep up! Thanks for the inspiration!
I bet you are so proud of your husband pouring his life into supporting the family like that! It’s a hard season but as the kids get a little older you enter an amazing new stage where life gets easier! You need to start delegating more and more household tasks to the kids and reward them with free time or screen time or whatever works. What a blessing g yo be raising six!!! Can any of them help your husband with his business? Kids love helping dad, and they learn so much.
I love that you shared real some real things you're going through and the practical advice for the overwhelmed mom. I have thought about buying some fun schooling stuff but never have yet... I'm extra interested in the momschooling ones!! :)
Thank you so much for this video! So many helpful tips! I homeschool on an island and it's not so popular here. I often find that I stress about not doing enough. I Tey to overcompensate to prove that homeschooling is OK. Thank you for reminding me to breathe with your 90 days plan.
Loved this video. Very helpful practical advice. Thank you for just telling us and not holding such valuable info behind a pay wall. I will check out your resources. Also, love the new look to your studio.
Incredible video. Thank you for making the time to do this. I am new to Momschooling, as well as funschooling. Hearing the four important things and then four things you have to do rotating each day was eye-opening for me. Thank you again.
Really interesting video My son gets easily tired when I bore him with too many work. He loves to play with his hands and learn by exploring. I’m not capable of meeting that need as a new homeschool mom. I will love to win one of your resources that could help me. Especially to design a curriculum
I just found your videos and this is exactly what I needed to hear and learn about. I’ve been trying to do it all for the past four years and it is exhausting! Thank you for your videos and all your resources! 💗
I am so glad you found us! It’s not too late to make a change, I promise! I think that my other talks will be super helpful, along with a mom-school journal
Wow! This video was so helpful, informative, motivational and inspiring I had to listen to it twice( will also be on my morning playlist for encouragement)!Thank you for being true and honest about the experiences you faced and how you navigated through them. As a mom with 6 kids and definitely in survival mode, I actually feel confident that it is possible to get out of survival mode and start enjoying my passions as well as learning with my kids and knowing it doesn't have to be boring, strict, and most importantly we can have fun and make great memories together. What a great start to a new year. I Can't wait to get the 90 day pocket planner all 8 of them😊.
I do that too! I recently listened to a talk that really motivated me and I put it on repeat during a three hour drive! Having six kids can feel overwhelming, but you are doing the greatest work on earth, and you can have so much joy and peace in the process.
This was such a fantastic video at the perfect time, thank you! I will definitely be looking at adding in a mom fun schooling aspect into my day. There is so much I want to learn, but I try and do it after hours so as not to take any time away from my family. I love the idea of showing them I'm learning alongside them. ❤
What a wonderful suprise to see you post a video this evening! Thank you. Such heartfelt advice I can apply to my kids when we start Fun Schooling this Monday. 🥳 We are so excited to receive our first Journals this Friday and I'm already seeing others we would love! Thankfully, I ordered the one for myself you suggested in this video. Thanks for all your tips, you are such an inspiration and answer to prayer. 🙏🩷
I'm so excited you're ready to start Fun-Schooling! It is such a wonderful journey. Be sure to let go of anything that just isn’t working for you after a good try, stay focused on your vision and keep it fun.
@@funschoolingmomI'm pretty good at trying new things and starting over thank goodness 😂😂 ...a prerequisite for homschooling I believe!! I've never seen a system that has aligned so much with my vision. The kids keep asking when The Journals are arriving. They are SO EXCITED to be in charge of their learning. When we started homeschooling, I always envisioned the kids delving into their passions. But somewhere along the lines, I got busy trying to tick the boxes and there was just no time left over (it felt). We are excited for a fresh start in which will be led by our Godly curiousity. I honestly dont know who's more excited to get their journal, them or me!!! Once again, thank you. You are an angel sent by God!
Thanks for this video! Two things I loved about this video: 1 The tips on how to get out of survival mode- So simple yet so helpful! 2. The idea of learning alongside my children. Showing them rather than telling them. SO many things I want to study, and hearing this has given me the thought that I do actually have some time to give to doing that. Definitely going to try both of these things!
Isn’t it amazing how simple is really is? Don’t be afraid to let go of methods that don’t work, bring stress or anything you are doing because of pressure or obligation- life and learning with your kids was meant to be joyful and fun. I’m excited for you.
Wow, that was so refreshing and encouraging to listen to. I am making myself a note to get out of survival mode and writing down the plan to do 4 necessary things one day and alternate that with doing 4 important things! I am so tired of being in survival mode or ending the school year having felt that way! Im also very much so looking forward to picking out a MomSchooling activity packet!! My girls are going to love this idea!
I appreciated your thorough analysis of the variety of things that challenge our kids in their education journey. I like how clear you are. Definitely going to try and focus on 4 important things a day alternating with the necessary things from now on.
Thanks for sharing this, I was feeling especially scatter brained right before I gave this talk! I almost didn’t go in the studio cause I was having a moment of discouragement with one of my kids who was having trouble following through with what we thought was going to work, and I was like “how can I help others when I’m dealing with this struggle right now!” My oldest son was recording and said to just be honest about where you are at right now, and as you sort through it other’s parents are going to be able to learn from your process. I’ve been through these struggles before, but this kids was especially stubborn, and accused me of not really being a fun-school mom, cause sometimes it’s not fun! But I do try to keep essential things positive even when it’s not the child’s passion.
I found your video in my news feed and watched a few. WOW. First off, thank you for putting such amazing humans into the world! Well done! Second, where do I start? I’m a grandmother fostering her 6-year-old grandson, whom I will adopt in a few months, and who has experienced severe trauma. Because of his health conditions-he has Duchenne muscular dystrophy-he will be homeschooled. With his learning disabilities, he’s just started showing an interest in learning. I believe he's a “friend” learner, yet he has begun doing puzzles independently, coloring in detail, and loves tracing numbers and letters on waterboards and dry eraser books. He's brilliant and self-aware. I’d love to learn and incorporate fun schooling into his life because it’s a perfect solution for him. So, I’d love to know where to start, which books to save for, and which ones I should get sooner. Again, thank you for sharing your story. Your kids are amazing. Side note: my daughter had a passion for polishing nails; it passed, and she could only do so in her room. She later found a love for make-up. As an artist drawing makeup on her face, she showed a beautiful talent she couldn’t quite express on nails, and there was not enough room. She also now paints and draws and is interested in water coloring. ❤️ I hope you can help her shift her interests, or Let it be a pebble and shift her focus on other interests. You’ll figure it out for sure. I was a former manicurist. You’re correct in considering her health. It’s toxic and creates health issues down the line. Women's nails looked great, and it cost me part of my health. I read comments trying to support her polishing desires; she can do something similar with ceramics by dipping them in layers of color or other art. Expand her canvas.🌺🌸🌼
You're an amazing grandma to be so invested in your grandson's learning, and to take him in! He's going to thrive with you. Keep watching my videos! I adopted five kids with trauma and disabilities and I think starting with Dyslexia Games Series A was the best thing for them. It helped them all learn to read, write and spell but was also calming and therapeutic for their trauma.
We have a 17yr old son who works in the mornings and then comes hime and wants to play video games and watch you tube videos till bed time. I love the idea of telling them that once they are through with school then we're going to do a chore and then video games. I always feel like we're in survival mode, praying this year will be different. I love to learn but can't seem to get my children motivated to want to learn.
At 17 he is developing habits around work and life that he will carry I to his future family. If he can come home from work, help with chores, relate to family, work on fixing stuff around the house or pitching in with a meal, and stay fit at the same time, he’s going to be on a great track. It’s got you are switching things up a little. Even if it’s not chores but something family centered, or relaxing with a book before games and RUclips - it will be good for his routine.
I truly appreciate this! I have been trying to get out of survival mode (6 children, one is a newborn) and in the middle of this school year am doing a pivot in my teaching to more of a funschool approach. While i still have them doing some work books, i have also incorporated things they love- like reading more books on their topic of choices. I also have started to sit with the children and do my own "school" which often is working on the book I am trying to publish. I will definitely have to check out your mom's schooling books! I do find it hard with one child who is constantly bouncing passions 😝. How do the funschooling books adjust for this? Also, looking at your curriculum two of my boys asked if you would make one about cars/mechanics and one on hunting/trapping... or if you could give any tips for me to create my own fun schooling journals for them. Thanks so much!
Use the active boys’s journal or creative girl’s journal with your busy and multifaceted child! It’s designed for those kids that switch passions. And watch my talk about the five learning languages - your kid is an “Explorer”.
Love this. I am struggling to inspire my 9 year old son. There were some good tips in the show. I will make an effort to pull out my mum school things everyday to set the example. I love the idea about adding a chore at the end of the 'school day' so he is not just thinking about getting to his technology at 4pm. I would love a copy of the Mom's Homeschooling Handbook. Is that available in pdf because I am all the way in New Zealand.
Maybe she will be an amazing nail tech one day. I would propose maybe it is learning for her passion. There is also tons of non toxic nail polish and nail wraps. Have her start learning to use bubblepop which is a small mom biz of non toxic nail wraps. Maybe motivate her by saying if you put in the effort in your school work then you can start learning to use nail wraps or use non toxic polish
Hi Sarah! With this Fun-schooling approach that your family has, when do you consider your children “graduated”. Is it an age thing or how do you consider them done with their schooling?? Thank you!
They finish the basic academics at around age 14, and start building their businesses until 18. Around 18 the go to the next level of doing their own work or going to school, or going on a mission or they get a job or internship. As long as they are at home they are building their futures so they will be ready for their calling in life.
I had a few who loved painting finger nails and there are some nontoxic options. They are more expensive, the paint doesn’t last as long and the color options are limited, but that was my compromise with them. ❤
I really liked what you said about kids and gaming. I have 2 that I'm homeschooling. One will do his work, but my daughter is so hooked on the screens, she refuses to do her schoolwork. Then she lies to her dad and says that I don't ask her to do the homeschool work. It's getting frustrating. And because they are so into gaming, my husband wants to send them back to public school. It's taking a toll on me. Because I know I'm doing what I can to get them educated, and I know their potential, I just can't get them to see how fun it is to learn and how they are growing in their learning. My son never went to school, he's been homeschooled from the start. He can read and he's great at math, and I see the fruits of my labor in him. My daughter went to school yet had a couple bad experiences with it and I'm wondering if that is why she is pushing back. I don't know, but I think they are better off learning at home than in the public school system.
I can not imagine, how the fun-schooling books are struktured. There are some for some topics. But what, if a child is interested in other topics? How is the Mom-Schooling Book? Are there topics in it? Can I put in whatever I like to learn? How does it work? I'd love you to show us the inside of the books and explain them. by the way: I just looooove, what you are doing. When I heard you the first time, I almost cried, because I would have loved to raise up like that.
I feel like im an artistic person that has lost a lot of creativity in the overwhelm and exhaustion of 6 kids close in age and life as a homeschool mom in general. I’m a homebody and I struggle to leave and go do things with all the kids because of the hassle and headache and sometimes finances involved. I feel like they don’t want to sit and listen they want to go and do and in our small space here at home I’m just struggling to cultivate fun. School is something to get done in order to get to the fun and I hate that because I personally enjoyed being homeschooled and learning. I felt like this video was encouraging and gave me some ideas and somewhere to start as we come back from our holiday break. Thank you so much! And if you have and suggestions for fun in spite of cold and crappy weather, I’d LOVE to hear them!!!
Oooooo....I have a boy who rushes through school to try to play video games! I hate it and wish he would get interested in something else. He liked cooking/ baking for a bit, but that's passed, and now he can't seem to figure out anything else he might like to do, and I'm not sure how/where to help him figure it out.
@@christymiller6350you definitely will be able to reset the routine by saying game time is at 4:30pm after school, chores and time in the great outdoors
My son is 12 and hates to do school work. I keep offering alternatives and trying to find things that he is interested in but he can’t seem to figure it out. How else can I help him?
Have you tried Fun-Schooling Journals? Does he have any hobbies? Dreams? Career Goals? Ask him: If you could fix anything in the world what would it be? Discover his heart. Focus on finding his dream or calling.
@@LeticiaNogaro yes, I have five adopted children from absolutely devastated and broken homes. It’s so hard, but we are learning little by little what helps them thrive.
Good news about my daughter who was struggling with everything but nails and piano. My oldest daughter, Anna. came for Christmas and worked with her to teach her to do digital art, then hired her to color in her animations! My girl is so excited to be learning digital art and helping her big sister! Check out her work: instagram.com/anna_miriam_brown

@ perfect! Thank you❤️
It's a lot of work to be good parent. Great job, awesome mom
Thank you! It's an amazing journey.
I too have a daughter who would love to paint finger nails and play piano. Thank you for sharing
My pleasure 😊
Thanks for reminding me I can’t do it all. The 90 days plan sounds realistic. I will definitely try👍
Yes! Try it! The method has helped so many.
I’m so excited you’re ready to jump in! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Great idea!!!
I recently discovered your channel. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience with us!
You are so welcome!
I had a few who loved painting finger nails and there are some nontoxic options. They are more expensive, the paint doesn’t last as long and the color options are limited, but that was my compromise with them. ❤
There’s a brand called Dazzle Dry that is low-tox and has superior longevity. It’s pricey, but worth it!
Great idea!!!!
@ thank you ❤️
I really liked what you said about kids and gaming.
Thank you for sharing your experience ❤️🔥. Maybe you Child will be a nail artist. There are many people o don't care about chemicals🤗
She is now doing digital art for her older sister who is creating a webtoon and comic book!
Maybe she can create an organic natural nail polish and remover and or offer natural services for nails, like an organic nail salon
That’s brilliant
Appreciate these thoughts
I’m so glad!!! I gave a talk on reviving your passions as as busy mom of many. You would love it.
Thank you for this information
I’m so glad you took the time to listen!
Oooooo....I have a boy who rushes through school to try to play video games! I hate it and wish he would get interested in something else. He liked cooking/ baking for a bit, but that's passed, and now he can't seem to figure out anything else he might like to do, and I'm not sure how/where to help him figure it out.
How old is he? I would definitely unplug him until a certain time, and make chores the first thing after school.
@funschoolingmom he's 9.
Oh goodness, I only have three kiddos to homeschool but I'm drowning...How do you guys do it?!? I really hope your channel helps me! Im desperate.
I think often my problem is seeing a difference between "important" and "necessary."
Yes! We all have that problem.
I let my kiddos paint their nails with non-toxic acrylic paint. It may peal off but at least it's not toxic chemicals!
Love that idea.
Children from broken homes are diferent
@@LeticiaNogaro yes, I have five adopted children from absolutely devastated and broken homes. It’s so hard, but we are learning little by little what helps them thrive.
That's why a good family is so important @@funschoolingmom
Good news about my daughter who was struggling with everything but nails and piano. My oldest daughter, Anna. came for Christmas and worked with her to teach her to do digital art, then hired her to color in her animations! My girl is so excited to be learning digital art and helping her big sister! Check out her work: instagram.com/anna_miriam_brown
