I'm down to 38 mgs from 150 mgs and it's getting a little tough at the end of the day. I was down to 22 mgs a few years back and that was really hard. Over how long did it take you. What amount per week drop? Can you give details???

Been off for 57 days after 10+ years.
2001 to 2015 , for 14 years. I was on it. I was 25 when i got on it and 39 when i got off it. Never went above 80 mg per day and halfway thru those years i reduced down to 40 mg per day. Finally around October 2015 i was completely free of it. Leading up to the very end of it i was chipping a single 10 mg tablet to where i was maybe taking 3 mg per day, then i went cold turkey. I remember it still being around 5 weeks of withdrawal. Maybe 3 hours of sleep per night for 4 weeks waking up with a sweaty shirt. Going between fever and chills. I lost around almost 15 lbs from not being hungry.The body aches and pains were unreal during those weeks.
After about 30 days i noticed that the worst of it was over and i started sleeping longer, maybe 5 hours a night and the sweating was gone. At around 40 days i was sleeping 7 hours and i knew then it was all over. Never again. Once was enough. I've read where people relapsed and done it again and again, not me. It's something i never want to experience again. I've been free since 2015 and i'll stay free.

I’m at 6 ml a day. Been in for 10 years. Going down 1 ml every month. I plan on jumping off at 1mg! Wish me luck. Either way I’ll be done. It’s been a rough year and a half to get where I am now. I won’t be looking back

@@rahimayim2840 I’m at 3 ml right now. So far I’m fine. Sleep is a little off but other then that I’ve had more energy then I’ve had in 10 years from being on this shit. Lost weight and feel 10 times better. I’ll probably be off in about 4 months. Give or take. Slow and steady wins the race

I used to drop 10ml when I was on a high dose, say 70ml.
And this is why I refuse to get on Suboxone or methadone, i’m doing it cold, turkey off of opiates.
Yeah me too I've been addicted to heroin for ten years now so I gave up live or die the last hit of heroin I got was on Saturday . Sunday Monday Tuesday I haven't touched it's sheer hell hell brother I have seen pains and my heart stopped I've seen my soul come out of my body I face the devil himself putting the breaks on is not a good Idea 72 hours gone and I haven't touched I can use methadone beause is available but I choose not too the only time I used med it was 48 hours after the last heroin use physptone helped it's a replacement drug and it worked because 48 hours gone I'm still in hell week but I decided that's it live or die I saw the devil it's sheeer horror the pain is merciless but today Tuesday I decided to reduce after 72 hours I chased the dragon now I'll go for another 72 hours and I won't touch any I'm trying I will tell you this I know it's gonna kill me so be it I'll keep going I won't stop fighting I'll keep going

Been on methadone since 1994. Iv struggle with detoxing but now I'm finally on my last 10 mills. I now reduce 2 Mills every 2 mths and can finally see an end to this. Iv been clean of drugs for 14 years apart from my medication.

@@myothernameisnana7188 I was on it for 20 plus years and have been off it for years now. I would say almost all my withdrawal symptoms were gone 3 months into it, and definitely by 6. It seems liked forever to me and it was torture. I also went cold turkey which was hell on earth. Exercise and diet helped me a lot. I'm huge into working out again now. Good luck, you got this.
There is an escape someway somehow doctors or people know how to beat this
I feel like blowing my head off. I turned into an alcoholic while being on methadone for 8 years. I drink a 40 of spiced rum a day and I take 110 milligrams of methadone daily. I was completely sober, other then methadone, for 8 years and had a bad break up. I turned to drinking spiced rum straight from the bottle. Someone please help me. I’m dying and need a friend desperately.
And please for those that are saying it took them 2 years or 4 years you ain't helping no one here

If you need help I'll tell you I was surrounded by 20 university students to study I was made an example I fought I kept fighting and decided it's rather they say he died trying to quit than to say he died of overdose it's a shame to us

Been on methadone for 24 years, dose was 270mg/day for 18 of those years, decided to slowly reduce (5mg every 2 weeks) until I reached 100mg then 2mg/month & now I’m at 38mg. So far absolutely zero discomfort but will that continue & what’ll happen when I hit the big ZERO??? Definitely 1 day @ a time for me & no looking back!

Slowly getting myself back… at this point now im only experiencing insomnia, restless legs, major lack of energy( just pushing through, a daily small work out helps) and still how do i say this,,,, some watery stools.. but im so happy to be free of waking up trying to make it to the clinic before 12pm….. thanks for asking
I'm on 20mg and even tapering 1mg fucks me up mentally. Insane depression/apathy, brain fog, de-realization etc.
Take it easy ,take your time methadone its the worst drug to detox i get detox a year ago after 19 0lus years and i stil feel like crap ,its bad i still have chills ,diarrheas ,i mind all the F simptoms...and the worst part its your brain so depress, its hard for real.
Drs know nothing. They don't understand the difference between this and other opiods.2 yrs after I. Got on methadone I had a liver transplant a then other surgeries. So much pain. Methadone got me through. I have pain issues still. But I doing know what is real. I didn't know withdraw was a killer. I had 10 mgs 16 hrs ago. Now every part of me hurts. I won't make til morning. Another 5 will help. I never take more than 15mgs A day. Usually 10. I don't know what to do. I am 70 and getting old is hard, too. My spine is in bad shape. No one to talk to who understands.
I tried 2 mls every 3 weeks and on the 9 week i was fucked up and had to go back up again. Now i go down 1 ml every 3 weeks. Im at 45 from 75. I want off but slowly . I dont want to hurt myself and get a heart attack or sumthing from not having it for afew days. 1 ml gets me messed up for a week then i adjust. S ucks but its better than going up a ml every time.

been taking methadone from a clinic for 14 years and i’m almost done i’m at 4mg today. i don’t regret going there and it worked for me but i don’t want to be controlled by clinic.
@@jmr6117 Well who cares if it already happened? I mean when you're on medication you're being controlled by your doctor and the pharmacy, but who cares? People need to decide what they want to do. Dwelling on the past is just stupid. As long as they're getting off, that's what's of value.

Missing a day methadone isn't a problem because the methadone you took the day before is still in your body you get little uncomfortable but it be OK
If only it were that simple. I’ve been on ‘done 45 years. Started on 80 came off for a year, (after a looooong taper), but went back on as was still craving. Now on 100. I am a fast metaboliser and still have to to split my dose to make it through the night. I have tried not splitting but it’s way too uncomfortable. All different I guess. Get 6 t/a a week so very fortunate really.

I was on 100 mls of methadone now I am Chilling out on 60 mls. I get dropped every 2 weeks it's 2.5mls.
Didnt sleep for a month worst brutal withdrawls i ever experienced. Was wishing after 2 weeks i had just cold turkey heroin instead. Methadone is no joke to kick
He's talking about buprenorphine more so, bcuz it also acts as an antagonist which last longer than agonists. Methadone is a protein bound opioid that means in your tissue or fat. It builds a reservoir in your tissue. I believe it's treated with a diethyl ether since it's fully synthetic, right ??
Everyone's different. So much depends on length of use, dose, mindset and how you taper. I was on methadone for 30 years (now opioid free 4 years). Even with a long, slow taper (which helped minimize AWS) the PAWS was brutal and lasted over 1.5 years. If you count the lack of energy/motivation, you could say my PAWS continues to this day. Then again it could just be that I'm getting old!

@@popsomniferum Thank you and yeah it was miserable. Even with a strong will, it's tough to fight when you have no energy. I try to tell anyone looking to quit methadone to be prepared for a brawl. But in the end it was clearly worth the fight as I feel better now than I ever did on methadone.
Very happy for you. I did opiates during my twenties. Spent the first half of thirties on this junk. The second half recovering from it. I did it long and slow also. PAWS is a bitch! Takes the body and mind a long time to heal
Ummm i was on it for 19 years get out finally 9 months ago and man its feel like the first month yet. This shit take for ever to get out of your body...up date its been 15 months and i still feel like shit.

Been off 15 months. Still yawning, teary eyed and sore. Not too sore but the psychological crap is exhausting. If there’s one thing it’s the extreme yawning. I expect WAY more progress by now. It’s disheartening for sure. Worth it in the end but when the hell does this end? Detox yourself. Methadone is too hard to get off. The progress is far too slow. You can’t map it because of this. Super frustrated.

I went through it in the summer of 2008 I quit 40mgs cold turkey because i had been taking it daily for 18 months without a prescription and was never documented.I had been through oxy and hydrocodone withdrawal before but methadone withdrawal is the only thing that made me shake uncontrollably and the discomfort was 10 times worse like burning alive except you don't get to die.One of if the hardest things ive been through and seemed like it was never gonna end but after about 3 or 4 months it slowly started to get better and 6 to fully recover..I'll never get on it again unless i find out im dying a certain death from a disease or somthing because then I wont have to worry about going through the hellish withdrawal again.Dont believe all the literature about it either withdrawal might be a little delayed but it damn sure aint mild and lasts a helluva lot longer than 14 days its more like 114 days.
9 months out still not normal. 6 months of pure hell. Went 6 days no sleep than naybe an hour a night for a long time. 11 years on it. So thankful for it. Yet i hate what it has done too me.
Its hard 8 was on methadone for 19 years and its been 18 months since i get out and I still feel like garbage ,can't sleep 3 hours diarrheas etc...i go to the gym 6 days a week and still don't feel normal ,i wish i never touch that shit but its what its it.

I’ve been on methadone for over 30 years and still use a couple of times a week does anyone think it would be possible to stop the done and just use the heroin till done is out of system and then reduce heroin bit by bit then jump off what do people think about that ?

On lower doses,
Every 2 week is way to fast ( for me )
You drop in dose then take 2 weeks for you body to adjust. Then your dropping again so your not get a rest before dropping again.
How do you get 1 mg? I take 5 mg tablets. I'm down to 10 mg in the morning and occasionally 5 mg at night for pain.I don't know if my pain is real or caused by the methadone wearing off. I've tried many times to get off of it, getting down to 5 mgs, but my body goes into spasms. I've been knit for 18 yrs. I'm 70 years old. I had a problem with pain pills starting in 1990. My Dr is clueless.
@sonniquickpianoimprov2231 yeh that what happened to me. Remember it your detox not there's say to them your feelings terrible and want to do slow detox. Tell them you want come down 1 Mill every 3 weeks that way you won't feel terrible. My worst thing was restless leg syndrome it was terrible but reducing slowly dose help with withdrawal. You could even ask to come down 1 Mill a mth.
@sonniquickpianoimprov2231 or ask to go on buprenorphine tablets they come in. 2mills 1 Mill half Mill. My friend just switched over to them an finds it better than methadone an they can reduce it to half Mill. Each reduction. I'm going on to them once I reach 3 Mills.
@sonniquickpianoimprov2231 problem with methadone tablets or methadone is once you reach 2 Mills they don't do down any further so buprenorphine would be great for you

I highly recommend never getting on methadone prolly the worst decision i ever made in life. Was on it for 10 years and just got stuck there now im 6 months clean and still battling everyday feels like it will never end.

Take it very slow. There is no rush when tapering. If you're on a high dose, 1mg a week until you reach 50mg, then drop 1mg every 2 weeks until you are off. You should have very minimal, if any, withdrawals if you follow that taper schedule

Not even the physical that's the worst it's the crushing depression that comes with it.
My dose dont last 24 hrs so I wake up depressed and in withdrawals but because I had a lapse and was honest I got to daily pick up it's just like scoring without the needle.
Alot better off on meth than heroin though.
I’m on 13mg right now from 189 mg. I’ve been on methadone for 7 LONG years. I’m going down 1mg a month and besides depression and ALWAYS being tired I will occasionally get restless leg syndrome and prickly skin. I take an otc sleep aid every night and that helps me sleep. I’m scared of how bad withdrawals will get when I get lower. I haven’t experienced full blown withdrawal since I decided to drop my dose just the random rls and prickly skin every few weeks. Is it the same for everyone? Will I feel really bad even if I taper to 1mg? Not gonna lie.. these comments are scaring me.
Same. I’m at 61mg from 120mg. I’ve been on for 6 years. It has flown by, I never thought I’d still be on it. I’m doing 1-3mg per month. These comments are scaring the ever living shit out of me. I haven’t had any withdrawals yet except maybe some depression while I’ve now cut my dose in half it’s taken 2 years and will be another 2 before I’m done. But I was sincerely hoping this is how I will be able to come off without any serious withdrawal because I just don’t handle withdrawal well in any serious capacity.

Hey wanted to speak with you. I was on 170MG for 11 years. Went from 170 down to 14 and back up to 30 because of the RLS and sleep. Went from 30 down 2.5 every two days and got to 15 and went 5 a day, on the 19 th was my last dose, it's now the 29th and the symptoms aren't even close to what I thought it was going to be, although not comfortable, they are completely manageable, I have two months to get better Im lucky enough to have a father who's letting me get my shit together, you can do it, I'm the weakest person I know ND IT'S been 9 days and I thought it was going to b so brutal and it's not, do WHAT I did and your no longer a slave, you womt feel great but In a few months you'll be glad you did it.

My boyfriend is about to go through withdrawals. He’s very scared. The clinic said his urine shows no traces . This is the second time that has happened. I watch him take it every day. He’s on 105 ml and the said they drop him to 10 ml so he is panicking over the withdrawal. What should he do
I feel for him and you! I went into detox when I finally got down to 30mg from 120mg it was the hardest drug I ever came off of! I've been off only 5 months but you couldn't pay me to even take one now! It's the worst of the worst when it comes to withdrawal!! I'd say he should go into detox!! The panic is part of opiate withdrawal. He'll be terrified before he gets any symptoms. He can do this though. It's absolutely torture, especially on a high dose like that, but it's doable at the same time. He needs to just stick with it. Make sure you support him a ton. Most people are extremely anxious and unhappy when they aren't on their dose any more. Not just physical, but extremely mentally messed up. It's really tough to deal with, but he can do it.

I was always told how bad it would be. I completely disagree on my behalf. I have taken them all and off 140 mg cold turkey it was very mild compared to heroin fentanyl and even hydros or percs. I have been through every cold turkey withdrawal there is and Xanax is the only one I should've died from. For what it's worth.

I have 23 years of liquid methadone addiction to back me up and the only way i got off it was to be either on speed or loads of benzos like xanax I went 11 days without it and on the 12 I folded and wemt back on it mad thing is ypu have use first (do heroin) before they will put you back on it.

That's what I detoxed from, of course tapering down for 3 months first, maybe 4. It was pretty rough for me for about 90 days and then the paws but everyday is not bad

I've been on it for 10 years and I never found it addicting. It's taken me 5 years to go from 110 to 2mgs that I'm on now. The only thing I ever felt was EXTREME tiredness, which I absolutely hated! And the first year I felt nothing at all, just less cravings. The only thing that makes it addicting is just simply HAVING to take it everyday to avoid the pain of withdraw

I've tried and tried. When I get too low, 5 mgs My body goes into spasms my legs kick and my arms want to hit something. I can't make it. I take some to make it stop. Drs have no clue about M withdraw. Today I read the summary from my last Dr visit. He says I'm stable on methadone for LOW BACK PAIN. I don't have low back pain, but I guess he needs a reason to prescribe it. I do have pain issues. In in a wheelchair from a broken leg that heal right. I have osteoporosis from liver cirrhosis from hep C ( liver transplant) and have broken quite a few bones. I don't know what my real pain level is. Maybe I can't stop now. Too late to have better quality of life without it.

It absolutely will be a lot tougher at an older age, and you seem to have a lot of serious health problems, all of which will make it a lot harder to come off, and the withdrawals will be worse. You can always stop, but you have to want it. You likely need to come down real slow, especially when it gets bad. I hope you can get there though.

@@nyk3334 fentanyl injection was given to me didn't work bro the only med that worked was physptone after 48 hours it worked felt good but all I'm trying to say if methadone can work my doctor told me if you want we will put you on methadone it's a replacement drug so I rejected it's like from fry pan to fire . @@jmr6117wow!!!! That's a really long time. Post acute withdrawal is exactly what you are feeling. It's after the initial stage of the drug leaving your system. The post acute lasts months into years . I too am at a year and still have trouble sleeping and not 100% yet. I totally understand what you mean. Symptoms include insomnia, brain fog, fatigue, irritability, etc.
Oh yes you do go into withdrawals after missing one day!!!! Its horrible.
