Thank you Dr b....I wish our doctors understood withdrawal like u...we tend to be judged harshly if we ask for help.... U are an amazing ..caring...doctor and have helped me understand a lot....
I beat heroin, booze, but am bipolar, adhd, 43, I'm on diazepam quetiapine, seroquel, zopiclone, beprenorphine, and although I'm doing o.k by routine, food exercise etc, my"whole" condition is not being looked at. Any help? Oh and I came off 80mg of meth cold Turkey- that was hell on earth
If I could've just been able to get comfortable for a moment every now and then, I could've handled the misery in between better. That's why childbirth is a piece of cake compared to withdrawals.
@@inthelandofmorethansmall7582 it really is... I've said that before too... And atleast with some child birth I would have the epidural to help with the contractions in the beginning until the end... But withdrawals... Man they are sinister... And I'm scared
@@Messenger4now I never had an epidural, so I wasn't even considering that. 🤔 But that would definitely help too! But I'd gladly have triplets - NATURALLY - over and over and over again every day for a month before I would ever want to go through wds again. 😟😒😕 Heck, I'd be more likely to want an epidural for withdrawals than childbirth. That would at least help the RLS, the Cramp, the "discomfort" of the "genital area" (where it feels like your clitoris has been stimulated for hours and then the skin was ripped off like getting waxed 😳) and several of the other horrible symptoms of wd... 😕😟 But no! They WANT us to suffer. "You need the misery to teach you a lesson." 😢😭🥺
@@inthelandofmorethansmall7582 I know right!?! I have 5 children, and I had one of them "somewhat naturally" because I got the epidural way too late, so I felt everything!! It was painful, but it didn't last forever like withdrawals do. How long have you been clean? I'm in need of a serious detox and I'm scared to death 😭
Opioid addiction actually destroyed my life. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder, got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 4 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.
I'm so very happy for you, Psilocybin is absolutely amazing, the way it shows you things, the way it teaches you things. I can not believe our world and our people shows less interest about it's helpfulness to humanity. It's love. The mushrooms heals people by showing the truth, it would be so beneficial for so many people, especially politicians and the rich who have lost their way and every other persons out there.
Hey mates! Can you help with the source? I suffer severe anxiety, panic and depression and I usually take prescription medicine, but they don't always help. Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Germany don't know much about these. I'm so glad they helped you. I can't wait to get them too. Really need a reliable source 🙏
YES very sure of Dr.alishrooms. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, BPD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!
I am writing this to provide hope. I was addicted to heroin for 5 years smoking only about 3 grams a day. Then went to suboxone 16mg a day for about 5 years and I wanted off the suboxone as it felt similar (money wise and time and chained down feeling) as the heroin. My doc said “that’s not a good idea” that’s when I knew it was about her money! I then started my very own tapering system it was so minuscule that I felt no withdraw symptoms EVER!!’ I created a 12 Month tapering plan (based on strips not tablets) that I would like to share of your interested. The last day I literally forgot to take my tiny spec of suboxone and have never touched it since. 3 years clean.
I was on heroine for 3 years.when I went to rehab they gave me methadone maintenance witch if I knew what it was I would have never got it.I was on for14years from 30 all the way 180mil so 11months ago I got off it took me 7months to get off . My clinic says it would be took 2years but I didn’t want that I was done with it .I had 4 seizure high temperature rash I had everything but I made it I refused all medicines to help me I did it but today my body is still hurting not sleeping they did give serequal for sleep but I still wake up 10 times .what am asking is y am still going through some pain ,no energy.
Hi Freddy, there is a definite art to tapering off Suboxone isn't there and having strips makes it so much easier. Personally, it took me 3 years to taper down from 12 mg to zero and towards the end I was cutting 2 mg strips into 8 equal 0.25 mg pieces. I was absolutely gob smacked at how powerful 0.25 mg was. I went 0.25 mg daily then to 0.25 mg every 2nd day, then every 3rd and so on but it still took a long time before I could go off it entirely. Once off it, I would say it still took a good couple of years to say I felt 'ok' and that was helped along with exercise and nutrition. It was a long, long, long road back…
mark wulff Omg it took that long to feel normal am only at 11 months but I came off 180 mil of methadone from being on it 14 years . I don’t feel no desire to go back not after everything I been through and accomplished in my life am 39 years it was time to get off . I still fell leg pain and can’t sleep. They gave me serequal for sleep but I still wake up at night like 7 times . What do you think might help for no energy no sleep and leg pain .I don’t take nothing but the serequal witch I want it to stay that way . If you could give me some info on it I appreciate it.
mark wulff Forgot to say I did my detox in 7months .The clinic I was going to told me it would of took 3/4years but I choose to do it faster. You think cause I was on for 14 years it’s gonna take a while to get it out my system or is it out and am just being overdramatic lol
@@marilynb9161 Hi Marilyn, I will answer as briefly as I can but at the same time I don't want to over step the mark by hijacking Dr B's post. It is a long and involved answer with many solutions but one of the hardest opiate withdrawal symptoms to deal with is lack of energy, or better said, EXTREME FATIGUE. Whether you’re in the acute or post-acute opiate withdrawal phase, getting energy can feel impossible. Many people have suffered from this debilitating shortage of energy for days, weeks, and even months after stopping the use of opiates. Unfortunately there is no fast track back but there is so much we can do to help the healing process. There are many nutrients, supplements and activities we can engage in to help getting back to normal. In a nutshell, when we take opioids whether prescribed or not, our brains get a surge of neurotransmitters (NT's) mainly dopamine which gives us that euphoria. In as little as 2 to 4 weeks our brains detecting the surge in NT's start to produce less and less of our own NT's which is vital to our normal functioning. It doesn't take long before the brain becomes extremely reliant on the opioid to do that. That is why initially we feel so good on opioids but not to far down the track we find we need the opioid to just feel 'normal'. Opioids and all drugs pretty much destroy your body and brain’s production of it’s own natural feel good chemicals. This creates a neurotransmitter imbalance or chemical deficiency and depending on the deficiency it can cause a wide range of physical, mental and emotional health problems if not treated correctly. When your neurotransmitters are low or imbalanced, like they almost always are after addiction, you will likely feel flat, lifeless, depressed, nervous, anxious, stressed and unable to enjoy the things that use to bring you pleasure and joy in life. It is the deficiency in our neurotransmitter levels which virtually causes all of our withdrawal symptoms. Anyway, that is the extreme short version and once again I don't want to show bad manners by hijacking Dr B's post. I would be happy to email you some helpful information if that is permitted (mark.wulff11@gmail.com). I have absolutely no financial or any kind of vested interest whatsoever in any information I provide and it is all evidence based. Having been there I try to help as many people as I possibly can.
long time opiate user here. I have NEVER heard more accurate information from a doctor speaking online. So much more credit and awareness needs to be brought to this video
I know right! Its almost scary how many Dr's and patients are miss informed and or miss lead to think or believe one subjective to just one another opinion....
Dude when I first got addicted to fentenyl 5 years ago. Right when they first started taking over as the fake blues. I went to my pcp doctor (primary care doctor) I said I need help with opiod addiction and he referred me to another doctors office. I called them asap and the number was to a pain management clinic who prescribed pain pills and physical therapy.. so yes it's disgusting how many doctors out there are oblivious to the real medical info needed to treat patients. This is how exactly the opiod problem started by misinformation from the pharmaceutical companies pushing misinformation from every doctor from Cali to new York
animesaw183 How are you doing? I’ll pray for you and the others, but I want you to reach out to God for yourself as well… I want you to know the One who can help you and break the chains of addiction from your life 🙏
Disgusting let me tell you. Being dope sick has been 1 of the most terrifying challenge ever. Gotta be ready to meet your maker honestly. There's no way to get thru it with out a little pain. God give strength to anyone trying to get clean. 🙏🏽
"Existential angst or sadness about the world". This is absolutely "it". I have not heard one doctor ever verbalize that as a possible driving force in addiction and relapse. This guy doctor is amazing.
I agree, Some people feel this existential angst and sadness, and don't even articulate it - they just know they feel an overwhelming anxiety and no one can understand it or tell them whey they feel this way. Dr B 'gets it'.
@@bigsteppa4649 what happened? We fall off the wagon so it’s better to stay on suboxone and wean off while your mind gets time to recoup. 1. Delete all dealer numbers 2. Delete all contact from users. 3. Eat healthy and drink water 4. Begin on suboxone and taper.
From just listening to this doctor I've deduced that this man absolutely knows what he is talking about, better than any addiction doctors that I've met. I'm going on 13 months clean from opiates, cocaine and meth
Awesome news..I hope to get that time under me. I'm only 7 days cold turkey withdrawal clean though. I know I can't endure sickness like this again. I refuse to do that again.
Who be able to quit from opiates addiction Cold turkey are the strong person and be able to stay away from the drugs are the strongest person. It's hard but remember you are not alone, many people are more worse life than you still keep fighting
The worst is the akathisia..the need to move...restlessness...severe restless leg syndrome...while at the same time ur a exhausted and tired as hell... But u cant sleep
Be PATIENT. If you acknowledge that you most likely won’t sleep at first it gets easier. After a few days you’ll be so exhausted that you’ll start to enter shallow sleep. After about a week you’ll sleep just fine again. Take it easy and I promise it will get better way faster than you think. Then again I’ve gone through it like 5 times so my body can deal with the RLS and recover a bit quicker, that first time I came off only like 2 weeks of semi regular use I don’t think I slept for a whole week.
I have convulsions if I take half a quarter off my dose. Got a Dr to work with me and she almost got me arrested by LYING TO A PHARMACIST saying she didn't know about a refill but my emails prior to that say otherwise! She even wrote a plan to go with my last refill from my old Dr. I don't trust her with my life. Took me five years of begging her and she ALWAYS said "short half life. I can have u off in 5 days or 14 if u wanna take it slow". But this time I brought in a whole presentation. And she listened. But lied!!! And she sometimes is nice and sometimes goes off on me telling me I'm not smart ... What do I do? When I said I MIGHT have found a Dr to take over she said no she'll do it and then tried saying I hoarder my MAT meds when I REALLY CTd them for a benzo wise listed Dr to save my life (she said stop immediately and she'd help me when I tested clean). 6 months went by and I was STILL in full blown withdrawal. So I had extra meds. She threatened me and said I'm Dr shopping when I've never seen any Dr or gotten any different meds from anyone except a dentist wrote me an antibiotic!
At this point? I need a GoFundMe. I need financial help and they're giving it to immigrants and I'm an American citizen single mother who was shot in the head! THE FACE TOO!
Listening to The Word of God : sermons , worship music, scriptures having them on all day and night long is very helpful . And pray, pray , pray . Seek God with All of your heart 💜 Blessings to everybody who is fighting that . The chains ⛓️ can be broken in Jesus Name !

@@eziekkiel5876 I’m trying to get off of oxy 30s I’ve been snorting these for 9 months on & off and when I try to quit It’s literal hell if you have any tips for the withdraws I’ll take some advice
@@joeweeks7191 Man, there's so much to say. It's not going to be easy, but there are ways to make it near tolerable. If you can muster up the willpower, you should start by slowly lowering your daily intake. Do that until you can get the dose as low as possible. Though I'm telling you now that will be very difficult to do that on your own without a trusted person to monitor your intake and provide you with moral and psychological support. You will not be able to quit a severe dependence without SOME form of support from at least one or more persons. There are medications you can use to dampen the effects of some withdrawal symptoms such as benzodiazepines but those are also highly addictive and you don't want to start another addiction. So use with extreme caution. 9 months is not a terribly long addiction. I know the withdrawals will still suck real bad. But you should quit now before it ruins the rest of your life. Oxycodone has a similar half-life to morphine but is almost twice as strong. And because you are snorting them, the drug is absorbed more rapidly. This also means it will leave your body quicker. What this means for you is that your withdrawal will start quicker, but it will also be shorter in duration. After about 7 days of total abstinence, you would be over 80-90% of the withdrawal. You won't feel completely normal, but the vast majority of the pain and anguish that makes it "hell on earth" should be over and you will feel like yourself again soon. Every time during withdrawal when hours feel like days you must remind yourself THAT IT WILL END. Only 7 days to go, 6, 5 et cetera. Do things to distract yourself like taking a walk. Even doing things like taking a hot bath and then immediately taking a cold shower. Doing this will cause your brain to release larger than normal amounts of dopamine. All these things you can do on your own. But your best bet is to go to an actual place that treats addiction. Google will provide ratings for the ones in your area. Of course this is not possible for everyone. I live in Canada and since addiction is a healthcare problem, addiction treatment is free of charge just like going to any other doctor. Anyways I've typed enough for now lol. If you want to talk more about it or have any questions, please just respond to my comment.
Hey man coming from some one who has been through this , I just wanted to say good job explaining this . Usually I can’t stand hearing professionals because they have no clue at all, but you actually made sense. More doctors should be like this guy
Dysphoria, restlessness, and anxiety pretty much sums it up during withdrawal. More so, a sense of helplessness knowing you don't have a safety blanket to wrap yourself in absent your fix. Take it from me, been there, done that.
And how long did it last for you? Honestly...was it weeks or a month or 2 or 3 til you felt like you no longer needed to feel like you had a "blanket " over your world perception.?
Fentanyl stuck with me longer than for most everyone else. 7-9 days before I give in and take something... STILL too soon for subutex! Omg precipitated wds are no joke. I guess I've been through it probably 60 times.
And I like what he said about the difference between craving and doing it just so you can function. I never "craved" it. I never took enough to get "high". Just enough for the symptoms to abate. I just continued doing It to feel normal.
I’m on day 3 of withdrawal and the word ‘dysphoria’ was a word I wasn’t familiar with but exactly describes how I feel. It’s nice to be able to put a name to it. Thank you
Hang in there, I’ve been taking the 80mg green Oxys for like a few years now, on and off, and decided this week to quit cold turkey. I just beat the physical symptoms a few days ago, and now the mental/emotional symptoms are fading as well. God I feel so much better. I literally woke up this morning with no body aches or cravings. I still have 6 pills left, but if I can go another week without touching them, I’ll flush them down the toilet.
Take a long hot shower and make a cup of warm milk to help with sleep tbh when i was using (I did anything i can get my hands on) thats what would help me i take a hot bath and sometimes I would even fall asleep in the bath but I always made a cup of warm milk after cause it helped me sleep and with my body aches try to sleep as much as you can cause sleeping or a bath always helped me

This MD speaking so clearly and compassionately about the entire experience of withdrawal and how the experience of addiction lends to the withdrawal process is seriously beautiful. @@Welovelife614 My friend, a few undervalued strategies: (1) Diet. Avoid sugary and processed foods, as those will give you a shot of quick energy, but you will crash within minutes, making you feel worn out and lazy. Natural is the way to go, things like fruits, vegetables, legumes, and roots. (2) Exercise. Endorphins, the body's natural opioids, are released as you exercise, the reason many people get "addicted" to running, weight lifting, and even stretching. Those chemicals will make you feel fantastic, even after a tiring workout. (3) Faith! Even after five years clean, you may get the occasional craving. However, a positive attitude goes far! "I'm gonna try" is a set-up for failure. Instead, "I'm gonna do it" is better, as the mind follows the body. This is where discipline plays a crucial role! It reminds me of boot camp. At times, I wanted to quit, as those nasty drill sergeants were doing everything possible to break recruits. But, I kept telling myself, "hang in there," this is going away soon, and boot camp will be a bad memory. Likewise, in recovery the first few weeks are hell. Literally!! But as your brain heals, so does your mindset. It's paramount that you keep busy, as doing nothing is = planning a hit. The first few weeks will determine outcomes. You put the same amount of energy (at a minimum) as you did when active.Good luck, my friend. God is with you. Ask Him to DO IT FOR YOU, NOT to help you do it.

Thank you so much for your care and support, I can't express how much I appreciate people's sympathy and efforts to help me and other addicts understand the nature of addiction. Thank you for your time and practical love. I hope I can conquer this awful condition but it really isn't something I can do easily.
I had started taking subscription opioids for a back injury about 10 years ago. I actually needed it for physical pain for maybe 2-3 -days, but I was going through a very Painful divorce and it also killed emotional pain. So I quickly became addicted.
Amazing info! I felt so much empathy from this dr. seems like he really cares. I've ad 6 back surgeries and now waiting for the mother surgery since the previous ones caused more issues and has caused me to become disabled. I've been on opioids for the past 10 years and would love to get off of those but wouldn't be able to walk..;-( That said, I know the feeling of withdrawals and he's right on with the details as I have those every morning because I refuse to take the opioids before going to sleep so that my body can sort of repair itself a little overnight but unfortunately I wake up feeling dysphoria ever morning and it's horrible to a point where going to bed isn't fun anymore. There's no better feeling than hearing someone use the words in our head that no one else seems to understand. Thank you so much for your precious time helping others better understand their condition.
So refreshing to see a doctor who knows what they are not only talking about but has a thorough understanding of opioid addiction. Normally I hear this kind of information from non medically qualified sources e.g. Matt Finch. Sadly, and I am sure these doctors are excellent in every other respect, but when it comes to opioid addiction, and specifically codeine addiction which is so under estimated, many doctors just don't understand and don't seem to have proper training in this area.
R!L!S! Too tired to move, too uncomfortable to stay still. Exhausted but unable to sleep. Nausea, chills, sweats…. But honestly it’s the psychological aspect of it that’s the WORST. You 100% lose control of your inner dialogue.
I can certainly appreciate the laymen approach to describing something so complex and intricate. I won't attempt to dissuade or disagree with any of it. Though, I will add a detail to your discussion that I believe is integral. Everyone has a choice in the beginning. The choice to continue is solely on the individual. BUT, there comes a point in an addict's journey where there is no longer an option. You touched upon, "getting and keeping well." Once you're that far into addiction, there is no more choice. Just to simply function and move about as a typical individual would is only possible through continued use of your drug. The addiction has taken over any and all options the person use to have to put the drug down and function. After using pills for 4 years, smoking heroin for 5 and shooting heroin for one, I'm now 2 years clean. It truly is something that's impossible to describe to an individual whom hasn't experienced it for themselves. But, your descriptions are pretty damn good, I must admit.

Right after the 12 minute mark....i am almost ecstatic you mentioned this because many clinicians i feel do not....you addressed pretty much if i may sum it up quickly...that if you already had depression or any mental health issue or distress prior to use that when a person gets 'clean' the physician needs to address that issue also. People i feel who have mental health distress prior to use who then begin to or do use...use alot to take care of that mental health issue and if not addressed they will relapse. Not sure if i stated what i meant correctly but you nailed this perfectly and happy you as a respected physician stated this!!!
Excellent video that i watched a number of times. I am 1 month off opiods and starting to have good days. The dysphoria is lifting for a few days then returns for a couple. Groups. This is encouraging, 1 month off and starting to have "good days." Are there good moments in the harder days? Do you limit caffeine so your sleep can restore your health? I'm starting along this road now.
@@1_foot_in_the_gravedown in Kitchener we don’t have such limits, it just be your doctor and clinic. I was up to 200mg but am down to 100mg and plan on staying here.
You got a rough first week, usually takes until day 6 or day 7 to stop throwing up and actually be able to hold down only the most docile of foods, like yogurt and such, sweet foods and fruits are best as you crave the sugar. So day 2 thru 6 are the worst. After week one its much more bearable but the whole second week will include some restless legs and jitteryness, goosebumps, trouble with temperature regulation and some trouble sleeping, but by week 2 expect at least some sleep, 4 to 6 hours a night with some trouble falling asleep initially due to tossing and turning. Generally things improve mostly after those 2 weeks. This is assuming IV use of heroin, half a gram or more a day.
Hey good video for sure thx for that. Started tapering from 125mg methadone October 30th 2019 after two years on and 5 years 200mg a day morphine before that. I'm currently at 5 mg today now for 10 days still not sleeping, cramping, bone acking, nausea, and dizziness..... It's been five months of this no rest but I'm still trucking!! Got three kids, lost my job in September havnt been able to work at all really this whole time I'm weak and exhausted when I think I can get asleep kids wake up..... If this doesn't make me quit for good when this is said and done idk what would.... I hope all of you suffering see this message cause our minds are the most powerful thing you will ever encounter if you just push it and stay committed to what you know is right!!!
I'm currently 9 weeks off methadone now June 12 2020. Pain is lower now then when I was on morphine and methadone. Good luck to anyone ready to get your life back. It's such a blessing to have this life don't waste another moment
Thank you for this, you’ve gone in great detail about it all, I’ve been looking everywhere to try and find out how long the actual withdrawals last, the actual pains.. a lot of people are saying a few weeks and a lot a few months. I know it takes a while for the sleeping pattern and other things to get back to normal but I just wanted know how long the acute withdrawals last. So probably about a month? Watched a few videos of yours now and like I said very informative!
The longest withdrawal I had was from suboxone after I got myself kicked off my program like a moron. It was endless weeks and weeks of feeling horrible. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Personally I’d rather end my own life than have to endure that again.
I was a heroin addict when I was 18 years old. I went through a bunch of rehabs for 5 years, but none worked, so I did the most insane thing I've ever done: I quit cold turkey after yo-yoing in and out of rehabs. It was a kamikaze move back at the time, but if I keep living as a drug addict. I will die one way or the other anyway, so why not go crazy? It was 2 weeks of hell: vomiting, muscle cramps, feeling freezing even though it was blazing hot outside, insomnia, etc. Believe me, it was hell. And what's worse is after that (i call it the craving phase). For 3 months, all that was in my mind was drugs. The anxiety was almost unbearable. But after 3.6 months, it got better. I started going to the gym, earning some money, and my life was 1000x better. It was like getting out of jail. And that experience of stopping cold turkey gave me PTSD about drugs. Never again do I want to go through that. No way. Now, I've been sober for 15 years. I go to the gym, work as an Android developer, and work from home, earning a very decent amount of money. Yeah, I rent my dad's home, but it's better than being homeless. Besides, he loves being around his grandkids. 15 years sober. My advice? Don't do what I did. Quitting drugs cold turkey is really hell."
samernhart465 What a story! You went headlong into darkness and came out the other end! You endured such pain, so I take my hat off to you! What an incredible story, with an incredible ending! You’re a true champion! ❤
This is crazy I had a same experience doing this of fyntinal and lasted 4 months had to check myself out of rehab and into a cucú bin because I wasn’t getting the proper help it and just wanted to die seam much easier. But it was the first time I’ve ever detoxes got out and relapsed short after. Second time around I was introduced to soboxen saved my life and gave me lots of hope
Hey Doc B I have questions that I’m sure impact others too... First, thank you for your content and caring! I think this question is worth a go from you. Q- What is the pain relief solution for someone that has had a severe traumatic motorcycle (or any) accident and had no other options back in 2004 other than to accept relief from a cocktail of opioids that has increased over the years! I see a pain management doctor and am a father, husband and regular guy with no other drug history. I want off the meds! Period, because they own me & I hate it! I have been under her care for 15+ years. And worry about being able to manage my pain if she retires or dies due to how vilified opioid uses are... But I have no alternative to manage the pain from my near death injuries. I broadsided a pick up at 60+ MPH and have multiple injuries, though with meds I’m able to function & run a company with employees. HELP, Please! If I get off the opioid cocktail, what will address the pain & how do I manage transitioning? Thank you for your help in advance!
That was the most clear way i’ve heard someone explain it. As someone young that struggles with addiction. Now sober, i think people should first understand people use because they’re in pain. I’ve tried to explain to people close to me why would someone like me that’s seen as a “normal person” use and Why don’t i just stop? It’s simple i’m in pain. I took opioids from 14 cuz of isolation, family issues, being in the system and a complex amount of things and stopped now at 18, hopefully i can continue. Withdrawal is something that’s hard to explain. I want to remake my life and not wait till i’m older but i wish people understood addiction better
So these people have been lying for years to pain Specialize to get their Nac opiate pill to sell and now want to get off , so what happen to the lumbar issue and neck pain , all a lie , so people with body Arthritis and lumber issue are look at like drug addict because of these selfish minded people looking for sex and drug pleasure .
day 5 is what made me a humble man today together we can live!!! talking helps cold turkey locking yourself up in a rest room well only lead to relapse

Thank you! I’m looking forward to it! Thankfully I have been off of opiates for three years (with the use of Suboxone) - and your quotes are spinning in my mind right now bc I want to get off of it but I really don’t want to go back to the alternative. Ce’la Vie.

I am 35 years old and I was a heavy heroin addict. Now on80 ml of methadone. I’m 14 weeks clean off gears for twelve months clean off crack. I feel worthless and that my life isn’t worth living. I have protracted withdrawal. Also off diazepam as well, from 30mg and buying a thousand off the internet at the time. I’m going through schizophrenia and converting to Quetiapine aka seroquel soon. I hope the sweating and anxiety goes away soon
Hi Dr. B!! How would you treat someone in the er who comes in with severe abdominal pain and vomiting? (Person is taking methadone at the clinic and passes drug test except for the methadone). If it ends up appendicitis? Are you allowed to prescribe pain medication while they are there in the hospital?? And what would you prescribe if it needed to be stronger than toradol? Thank you for your time I love your videos!
I been using for bout 7 yrs and lost alot...i want my family and children back,i don't want to wait till im 50 to try and get clean, so today I'm taking the first steps
If you’re patient kratom t is like over the counter suboxone, you’re just not going to be well as long but that’s a good thing since you won’t have to go through a longer withdrawal.
Great video, thank you dr. B.you often reference heroin but Would addiction to so called milder opiates like codeine or tramadol also be grounds for maintenance therapy with suboxone or methadone?
I was getting 120 10/325 lorecets from my family doctor & unbeknownst to him I was going to about 6 or 7 different pill mills a month, all between 2000 & 2015 before the government crack down. I averaged 8 pills a day for 15 years. The good doctor nailed it on the head. It took me about 10 months before I was completely 100% normal. Godspeed to those that are going through this vicious cycle. Never thought I would say this but I think God for the government cracking down on opiates. I did the above cold turkey but I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone
Aside from the stomach pain and sickness, the muscle aches, the chills and restlessness, the depression and anxiety is overwhelming and one of the worst parts for me
I'm day 4 of suboxone. God help me. Its easier when you want too and are not doing it because you need or have too. But today I think the opiads left my body completely. Can't get enough water in me it's comming put me quicker than intake.
The acutes actually keep ones mind busy on those. The protracted symptoms are make or break. As for both, gabapentin is excellent for the acutes. The addict mind often trades one thing for another. The only way other than trading, is to workout, eat healthy, keep busy, get support, all the things to not only heal, but strengthen your mind, keep those goals, motives for quitting at the forefront. Some people take stimulants to get through the days, but just having a solid plan, work, working out, people support, that will be the best way.
Been on codiene for over 6 years so far.. only oral tablets..also sleep aids.. only twice a day.. I use 150mg codiene morning and same at night... I use 200mg dipenhydramine the same... morning and night only as I drive for my job etc I once lasted 9 weeks while still using the sleep aids... kinda helped a bit.. but the withdrawal was quite hard and was effecting me a lot after a week... Iv not tried again since and still use my morning and evening.. I tried to get help from my Dr's.. he said and I quote .... just don't take as many..... yeah seriously.... I asked if there was anything to help symptoms.... nope... he then said we will call once a month see how you are doing...I then walked out and not asked for help since 😮😢❤❤❤
I thought I was quite healthy tbh. But this wd has been going for over 2 months nearly. That's without a tapper. All I feel I was getting from drug workers was interigstion like being in tge police station being hammerd with questions. Good luck to everyone I feel your pain ❤️
Sitting here as long time chronic pain sufferer, and whilst opiods saved my life they've long term begun to Ruin it aswell. I've a months worth of medication and am thinking of trying to go without for a week or 2. It's going to be Hell but like they say,, If your walking thru Hell may aswell keep walking until I get thru it. Dr B is nothing short of an AMAZING Individual. 👏 💯
Opioid withdrawal is honestly hell. It's practically impossible to quit cold turkey without Medication. Even when the physical withdrawal hell is over you have mental side effects that are impossible to deal with. 24/7 suicidal ideation and anxiety. Do not touch opioids.
Definitely the mental will get ya. I kept taken it for about 3-4 years because of what I’m going through now. You just gotta keep going without it and the mental stops. Sweating lol takes forever apparently. Lol I can handle the sweating.. the physical is hard for about a few weeks to a month. Then the mental messes with you for a while but your brain will start to go back to normal and you will start forgetting about it witch makes you feel good and makes you want to keep going without it. (Suboxone) you just gotta keep doing you without the meds. Once a few months go by you will see how much happier you are. Also your body feels so much better. You will start to get excited about not taking it. I’m so happy I decided to kick the doc to the curb and did it all on my own. I weaned myself down from subs the 12-3mg and I PROMISE ITS WORTH NOT TAKING THAT CRAP
Dr. B , you are really cool & your informative videos & your compassion is helping me get through the worst physical &psychological trauma I have ever gone through. In my comments below I gave some background on my situation. I am totally open about it, have nothing to hide. Is my former "DO" allowed to force me off Tramadol against my will while my pain is not otherwise managed, I have other health issues but no knowns side effects or complications from the Tramadol yet he cut me off without going through the proper channels in a totally unethical inhumane manner .
Its unbelievable how unethical doctors have become ,they are the ones that put people on these drugs mostly for the unnecessary surgeries that they profited from ,they mess you up for life physically and then do nothing to help you with pain or withdrawal of drugs they put you on to keep you quiet about the surgeries they fucked you up with . Most doctor have 0 ethics these days . They totally screw you up and do harm for as much money as they can make off you then do not care if you live or die. Actually if they made enough money off you they would rather you die so they can go on to their next victom with out any survivors to out them.
Wow man you know what your talking about, my dr gave me Oxycodone 30mg once a day for a month, I quit it and went through all of this, and the best part of the video was the Disconnection from the real world that weird phyclogical hangover almost, that lasted a few days it was so awkward and it made me so uncomfortable and anxiety was up the roof for another week, 2 weeks later I finally feel normal. Just on and off panic randomly, idk if its lingering effects? That was my first time ever taking that stuff. never again
@@DrBAddictionRecovery Oh yes, completely sober and just have minor anxiety panic attacks and like small triggers . Memories, or movies or people that I saw when I was in the withdrawl stage, bother me now and trigger me to feel sick. Have you ever heard of that? Triggers that remind you of the horror, and then make you feel sick to your stomach and panic. I have to stay home and stuff, Thanks for your video you are so dead on correct on everything.

I can’t believe how much methadone these people put you guys on nobody should be above 80 to 120 mg max even that would be an extreme dose they should put most people on 20 to 30 mg a day
I took oxycodone for 2 week because of an injurie and now i stopped and it's been hell. I feel like its -40 and 5 minutes later it's like burning in the desert. Everything taste bad. Very rough i hope i will feel better soon. Looks like i cant do anything to feel better i just have to wait. My dopamine is probably at - 500 right now 😢 Very difficult thank you for explaining all this its so complex.
I have thought of various opiods and their clearance times from the body etc. I Do believe there's an easier way to Stop opiod Withdrawals ,,But extremely rare to hear about as suffering thru opiod withdrawal seems to be the right of passage. The nurses are like well you took these pills for years now you need to suffer to understand and make sure u don't go back to pills.
I had two surgeries in the last month. It’s 2 weeks out from the last one and I have tapered my dose (5.0 norco 6 hours apart. I soon got down to one or two a day, then I started biting them in half and taking 1-2 times a day. I think one day in the middle there I took a whole pill. So, 5 or 6 days ago got down to 1/2 pill a day. I haven’t had a pill since Sunday. However, my symptoms of constipation started getting pretty bad since last week. Ugh! I’m not addicted by the way. I’m just tired of this. I’ve taken before for other surgeries and it’s always the same. Thanks for listening
@@tinydancer617 Same here, but 30 yrs later, I am on Suboxone from an opioid addiction, am trying to get off Valium, and need to get off my antidepressants. I hate the fact that I never wanted to be on any of these drugs, but was led to believe that coming off them wouldn’t be a problem… I was a migraine sufferer, and went for years without painkillers (don’t know how) as I hated medications. The rest were only meant to be temporary, so now I’m in trouble… I’m coming off them all anyhow, as the side effects are criminal. I have short term memory loss, and can no longer keep up a conversation. I’m forgetting how to spell, and can’t remember words. Can’t sign my name anymore. That would be enough to put them off for life.

I've done methadone maintenance, suboxone maintenance, dosed myself with imodium for months at a time, all of the above. All because I wanted to run away from a feeling of losing my sons mom when I was 18, and picking up heroin. I'm 28 now and I can honestly say the only time I didnt crave heroin and use heroin was when I was on methadone maintenance in Oregon and went to my groups. I want to get back to that. I just dont have the money you have to pay in california before you can switch to medi-cal insurance paying for your maintenance. Its dumb, Portland Oregon does it right I made an appointment had state insurance and they signed me up. Here in California they want you to pay 325$ for the first 21 days or so and then they put you on insurance pay. God bless those who feel they dont have a way...2yrs straight of slamming blk again hopefully I get back before it's too late. But it seems better at times to just be gone, its no way to live. Fuck heroin, oh I'm sick man I cant go, i cant eat, I dont wanna do this or that tell I'm well...etc
30 yrs on methadone. And yes I've stayed on it that long just to feel normal and get through and live day to day. I've tapered down to 7.5mg. We don't have alot of options down here in Oz for support nor is ther a great deal of knowledge from professionals that I've found. I have an opti9n to do a Ketamine withdrawal. Only heard about it recently? Don't k ow much about it. I was a shy child. I started using heroin at age 17 . I had no idea what I was getting myself into. No education on addiction back then.
I was put on a huge dose of endone and OxyContin for years i got tapered down very quickly from my gp in like 2 weeks im day 6 now and havnt slept in 6 days or eaten.I CAN HOUNISTLY SAY I FEEL LIKE IM DYING SLOWLY i have never experienced such pains in my body and everything else that goes with it all because of a small back issue after surgery i was handed stupid amounts of both pain meds for years and i gave it up because i was hooked it took ahold of my life. Now i get told by my gp ohhhh your addicted are you well theres nothing i can help you with goodbye 🤬😡

No one talks about the agony of feeling like your crawling out of your skin. It is by far the worse symptom.
AGREED!!!
But that would definitely help too!
But I'd gladly have triplets - NATURALLY - over and over and over again every day for a month before I would ever want to go through wds again. 😟😒😕
Heck, I'd be more likely to want an epidural for withdrawals than childbirth.
That would at least help the RLS, the Cramp, the "discomfort" of the "genital area" (where it feels like your clitoris has been stimulated for hours and then the skin was ripped off like getting waxed 😳) and several of the other horrible symptoms of wd... 😕😟
But no! They WANT us to suffer.

How do I reach out 🙏? Can I find him on insta
I then started my very own tapering system it was so minuscule that I felt no withdraw symptoms EVER!!’ I created a 12
Month tapering plan (based on strips not tablets) that I would like to share of your interested.
If you could give me some info on it I appreciate it.
mark wulff Forgot to say I did my detox in 7months
.The clinic I was going to told me it would of took 3/4years but I choose to do it faster. You think cause I was on for 14 years it’s gonna take a while to get it out my system or is it out and am just being overdramatic lol
@@marilynb9161 Hi Marilyn,
I will answer as briefly as I can but at the same time I don't want to over step the mark by hijacking Dr B's post.

They say there's no devil, Jim, but I've seen him, right out of hell.

What a story!
Hey Robert, give us a call 1800-779-4715
Nicole will answer & help.
@@DrBAddictionRecovery hey doctor do u have office in New York if yes,can u give me de address please
Iulia Vrsk very insightful young lady. I expect you to do well and go far! Thanks for comment
You really have to go through opiod withdrawal to know what it really feels like .nothing like the flu,I've had the flu,I wish it was that simple
Severe out of this world flu!!! Alot of people made this comment
Great job, haven't seen a single negative comment which means u are tha best. Thank you
day 5 is what made me a humble man today together we can live!!! talking helps cold turkey locking yourself up in a rest room well only lead to relapse
Love hearing from Br. B he has helped me through my suboxone treatment!
I’m on my last 2mg of Suboxone… How are you managing?
I enjoyed your video on Derek’s channel. You’re a straight shooter and I really appreciate that. I wish you were my doctor (but I like my dr too). Anyway, new subscriber here - keep the videos coming!
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it! I certainly will, and if you have any questions at all just let me know and I will do my best to answer them! I will check out your channel as well.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to it! Thankfully I have been off of opiates for three years (with the use of Suboxone) - and your quotes are spinning in my mind right now bc I want to get off of it but I really don’t want to go back to the alternative. Ce’la Vie.

Hello handsome
I am 35 years old and I was a heavy heroin addict. Now on80 ml of methadone. I’m 14 weeks clean off gears for twelve months clean off crack. I feel worthless and that my life isn’t worth living. I have protracted withdrawal. Also off diazepam as well, from 30mg and buying a thousand off the internet at the time. I’m going through schizophrenia and converting to Quetiapine aka seroquel soon. I hope the sweating and anxiety goes away soon
Seroquel helps?
I'm going to beat this..I'm 44 it's time..thanks for your video and timelines on the prolonged effects of withdrawal
Hi Dr.
How are you doing?
Suboxon should be over the counter. People want help. It works. But they won't let it happen.
Peter Northrup I get it but could be putting people at risk out of curiosity
How are you doing?
I use 200mg dipenhydramine the same... morning and night only as I drive for my job etc
I once lasted 9 weeks while still using the sleep aids... kinda helped a bit.. but the withdrawal was quite hard and was effecting me a lot after a week...
Iv not tried again since and still use my morning and evening.. I tried to get help from my Dr's.. he said and I quote .... just don't take as many..... yeah seriously.... I asked if there was anything to help symptoms.... nope... he then said we will call once a month see how you are doing...I then walked out and not asked for help since 😮😢❤❤❤
Oh my gosh!! These Drs really don’t care at all…
Thankyou for doing what you do. You know what you're talking about.
Exactly they are so dangerous ii am struggling with horrible withdrawal right now back pain ,depression, anxiety flu like feeling
In withdraw right now. After 10 years on for crps. God bless you all. Keep on going if you are getting clean you van do this!
Thank you. You encouraged me ❤
Anyone else notice the book fall over without anyone touching it as soon as Dr. B mentions the "Devil"
Lol. Thanks for noting
LMAO YES
Yes and it’s scary
bruhhh wtf,, :( lol scary af
luckily the devil is not allowed near me.
Thats a great observation, now why is it happening around him?
If only I could lay or sit down during the withdrawals it would be so much easier. All that twisting and turning makes me freak out.
That was my first time ever taking that stuff. never again
You clean?
@@DrBAddictionRecovery Oh yes, completely sober and just have minor anxiety panic attacks and like small triggers . Memories, or movies or people that I saw when I was in the withdrawl stage, bother me now and trigger me to feel sick. Have you ever heard of that? Triggers that remind you of the horror, and then make you feel sick to your stomach and panic. I have to stay home and stuff, Thanks for your video you are so dead on correct on everything.
It sucks period, to get clean you have to walk through the fire. If you want it it's there. I went through he'll, I went through Methadone. It took years to step down. I'm clean
Just found Dr.B and glad I did. Very useful information. And tips on helping if you are the junkie. Used my fair share. Been in the clinic for 2 yrs now at 220mg of methadone.
@Zakkthemaniac How are you doing lately! I’ve been documenting my methadone detox from 160mgs and 20 years. I’m now over 11 months clean from methadone. Hit me up and lmk what you think. Positive vibes, love and blessings!💪💪✌️✌️❤️❤️
I use to hate restless leg syndrome it was awful. Thanks to suboxone I'm clean and feel great. 5 years.
Sole reason I can't quit.
Thank you so much , very good video and great job . Thank u all for helping people.
Thank you Lisa!
Methadone withdrawal lasts quite long...It lasted 25days whit me ..
The most painful withdrawal however is Fentanyl...OMG
For the record, I had three children by all natural childbirth. No pain meds before, during or after ❤

Same here, but 30 yrs later, I am on Suboxone from an opioid addiction, am trying to get off Valium, and need to get off my antidepressants.
I hate the fact that I never wanted to be on any of these drugs, but was led to believe that coming off them wouldn’t be a problem…
I was a migraine sufferer, and went for years without painkillers (don’t know how) as I hated medications. This is a brain injury, caused by one or more of the meds that I take.
I would tell anyone who is prescribed these drugs, to look at the long term affects first. That would be enough to put them off for life.
Tried getting off fentynal, was awake for 5 days straight.
Kratom! I hope this doesn’t get erased. It can help and you control the use to what you need. DO N O. t! Use with other drugs. It’s rough but doable.
Have you gotten off yet?! In the same boat
No way smh. Im trien to kick fent also but can't get passed the 3rd day.
East _YaBeezy408 bro I can’t even get past day one
@@elizabethdawe1409 I feel you. I came to the conclusion that I am going to just taper off before stopping completely but it's easier said than done. Good luck don't give up!
Wow finally some answers that make sense
I'm late. But damn you used immodium for months at a time?
On day 3 of withdrawals. Refusing to go to rehab I am taking so much vitamin c I think it helps I don't know what to expect next
Thank you for sharing

What do you think about medical marijuana being used to help people stay sober or like you at definition of sober not taking a drug with an overdose rate.
