To bypass just restart the iphone. As soon as it loads, it will load into the language screen bypassing the "Press Home Button" screen.. Again.. thanks a ton Nèvek
I made this silent video as I was googling how to activate an iphone with a broken home button.
Long story short you'll need a mac/PC with itunes.
1) Hookup your phone to the computer
2) When it loads, in itunes press the iphone icon and scroll down.
3) Under Options click on Configure Accessibility
4) Now press VoiceOver radio button
5) Go back to your iphone, and now you can use touch screen to press the text that says "Home" button.

Very useful video, a bit dated now since iTunes is no longer supported, but you can still do the same using Finder, selecting the iPhone on the left of the screen where the connected devices are. (The first time you will have to press the sync button before seeing the menu.)
Thanks for letting know it's possible through finder. I think the reboot trick might work too. Some people say the reboot trick doesn't work with older phones

Just turn it completely off. And turn it back on once it is on that screen. It should carry you to the next screen .
If your in a bootloop and you reset to get to the hello screen and you turn it off it will go back in a bootloop so if your coming from a bootloop dont do this
you put me back into bootloop dont listen to this guy i did it and i lost all my progress to this screen

glad to help. Wish apple would make it more obvious... good thing is that eventually they might only have iphone x type phones (ones without home buttons)... so this might not be a problem anymore.. (forgot though.. there's still ipads)

EASY way ... > Turn iPhone OFF, >Turn iPhone back ON,> Select Language, > Select Your Country > "Click (top right corner) on the blue accessibility logo ,> select TOUCH ,> turn AssistiveTouch on.....TADA...... (if this doesn’t work try the same step with iPhone plugged in the charger)
resetting the iphone works now with newer Ios's... guess apple listened eventually.. sorta

Easy way is to power off your phone (after resetting the iPhone) then once the white screen with the apple logo comes on press the volume up button and the power of button and it will ask you the usual questions like language and etc…

I have my daughters. It’s telling me to put her passcode in first before it can be used with iTunes. But we have no way to put the passcode in. We replaced the screen, when we turned it back on it said it was disable for 59 min. Then when that’s ent away it said press home, doesn’t work. Hooked up to iTunes, says put in passcode. The phone doesn’t even show up on iTunes

Hi, I have the same problem. I have changed my home button and bought external home button but sadly not working. Try to restart couple of times, doesn't solve the problem. Can't even connect with iTunes. Took my phone to nearest local store and the suggested to change the home button instead when I already changed it. If anyone can help, appreciate it :)

How do you get to this screen? When I go to iTunes I am only able to download music
Hi Tovayla, You can get to this screen when your PC/Mac/Itunes finally recognizes your iphone.
At the top left of your itunes, you will see a very small icon that looks like a phone (right next to the "Music" drop down list box. Click on that.
If that doesn't work. Try closing itunes and opening it up again. Or unplugging the iphone and plugging it back in.

I'm glad it's helpful. I've seen people post on ebay that they can't get their phone to work and selling it at discounts because of the broken home button. It's annoying that apple just doesn't fix this at the software side and forces us to use these methods. but I'm hoping you're all up and running (or selling your phone now).

Sorry to hear your stuck at the apple icon with your phone.
Unfortunately,.. I'm not aware of an easy way to get passed this... Here are some options I'm aware of:
1) Wait until the battery dies.. and then you can plug it back in to turn on again.
2) Open up your iphone and unhook the battery (probably not something you can do unfortunately).
3) Try to press and hold the power button for 15-30secs. This is a long shot..since it's better to do a hard reset using the power + home button.
4) try hooking it up to a computer with itunes,.. what does it say?
5) go to an apple store to have it looked at.
6) take it to a phone repair shop to see if they can do anything.

In the comments section. Someone mentioned resetting your iPhone a few times. When it loads up it loads past the 1st step. I tried and it worked for me on ios 13

this is tricky... usually associated to passcode with itunes account. you need the passcode to go any further... and probably itunes account password

i have no idea what i did but basically i held the power button then hit cancelled and then it asked me for my password and it brought me to the next page so boom

So. Ive been researching everywhere and i just cant get it figured out. AFTER you do this process the phone restarts and loads. after that theres a blank white screen that says "press home to upgrade" as well. what do i do from there?? its like the voice over thing goes off when the phone restarts into the apple loading screen. Any advice?????
Hello David,
1. After you click "Configure Accessibility" and click "Use VoiceOver" checkbox.
2. Then click "OK"
voiceover will now work...
just press "Press the home to open" or... "Press the home to upgrade"...
then follow the steps to setup the phone.
Voiceover changes takes effect after you click OK in itunes.
I'm not sure why the phone is restarting for you. Please make sure you're not clicking to restore the phone.
