You wrote me some 'inept' comment saying that you didn't 'care', but at the very least be factual and complete your statements to educate those who admire the world of Cars and Design. Your colleague Richard Berry is an amazing motoring journalist who provides clear insights with real facts and evidence. I personally think you try to be funny, but you are more of a 'try-hard' than anything else.
I completely disagree. The M2 is less distinguishable compared to the M140i which has more torque. It’s slower in a quarter mile than it’s rivals. In the rain and spirited driving you can oversteer and hit a pole and end your life. Not everybody is a race driver. The a45 Amg and the rs3 are much more superior for daily driving and for traffic light drags. Who buys bmw now days anyways they look so ugly. Their new z4 m40i tells it all. I would rather drive a mx5.

The thing I don’t like about the BMW’s (pre 2021 facelifts) is that the interiors are just so outdated. Mercs just look and feel a lot more expensive.

AMG vehicles are great, but god forbid if it breaks. As far as the support in Australia goes its a very cruel joke. I find it rather concerning that most anything else made by MB under 100k is pretty average, and that,s being kind. Who pays 75k for a front wheel drive non AMG deal made god knows where. Its painfully obvious that MB is trying to be all things to all people, you just need to look at day to day traffic to witness that. It could be the reason MB is not the quality product it once was, and i certainly wouldn't be commenting this way 15 years ago. A cheap MB is simply that , cheap, but not compared to other cars in that range that do better and are more reliable. In the real world most people want quality and support and don,t feel the need to drop 100k or even half that amount, and this is joyfully happening everyday despite having to put up with a dealer trying to squeeze as much as he can out of you. So it can mean only one thing.....that three pointed star. Sadly these car reviews only focus on how it drives in the moment, but what about the service dept? what about the customer care? It would appear that that three pointed star is a fading one in that respect. Again this is really disappointing as this is not the MB i grew up with. I took the time to do the searches through respectable car governing bodies (AAA etc) and i suggest that everyone does so before making any purchase. I am not out to upset the fanboys ( not that i really care ) but if you want to claim that MB is all that and a bag of chips its simply not, and nothing would make myself and a lot of other owners happier than to see them return to the form that is worthy of that star.
Hi Shano totally agree Mercedes Benz 'sold out' and are no longer the above average quality engineered cars they once were. Now they just pump out poorly built cheap quality cars made in 3rd world countries with above average price tags and below average reliability and quality. its a fact whether people like it or not, another point I personally feel is that they are very ugly and bland cars now....really do not stand out in the crowd like they used to. BMW is a lot better in the quality/reliability department now and personally a lot better looking.
The other thing too is new ones are now just way too common on the roads to be considered exclusive. They have lost the cachet they once had, but this applies to new Audis and BMWs too....
