I always thought it was looking at Matt,but we never saw footage of his face straight on while driving. Today he pulls it off TURNS IT AROUND and shows us the telemetry time. So it's used to film the instrument cluster on the move 👍 Every day is a skool day.
I reviewed and drove the 2020 AMG CLA 45 and it was impressive. The all-new steering wheel makes the car feel very planted, stiffer and agile. Launch 🚀 control is spectacular and it’s drives way better than the AMG CLA 35. I think a section of the video is repeated 😁. Great 👍🏾 video Matt!

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's and he ordered three T66 turbos with NOS... and a Motec system exhaust.

It's nothing new...Evos and STis have been tuning to 600-700whp and a 0-60 time under 3.5s tuned for a long time now, while retaining the 2L displacement and 4 cylinders.

I really like these new designs incomparison to even the S class and even C class. I like how the front nose has an angle that goes down to the front fascia and has the right length from the driver seat area or cockpit area. The front wheels just sit in between in the center between the front and windshield. It just looks nice. Compared to the really enlongated nose generally that Mercedes has on former Sedans. I hope they further use this design on other models. What do you guys think?
Same I really like this design, but most aren’t like this because they have V8 engines and they’re larger which makes them have to increase the size of the front
@@aao7785 sadly you are right. They are missing out then. A lot of fun, no matter what car it is. Even a slow momentum car can be fun. And a lot of good learnings made on the track that can be helpful even in normal driving for the average driver. In my case as an average driver, my wife gave me a first track experience for a 40th birthday present. Opened up a can of whoop ass. Good safe adrenaline on a modest budget.
Amg really knows how to make a good car.... This one perfect for car enthusiasts.. I agree with matt... People should buy it... If ur not a guy car thing its a really practical car left a side the headroom at the back.... But its still a the best car in market... Congratulations AMG!

@@eventusvantos2770 The exhaust you see aren't connected to the whole system, are just a peace of metal. The sound you hear inside is intensifyed from the speakers. The mini-rear spoiler is ridicolous to be functional (the same with the little difuser). Many air intakes aren't functional, only aesthetics, and the "AWD" system may work well but i personally prefer the sensation from a rwd. But for me the worst part is that weights as much as a 2010s Sedan. Same conclusion. A "wanabe" petrolhead car.

Bmw on the other hand fakes sound through speakers. And they are functional. On the track they will make significant difference. And their main function is for styling to make it look more sporty "Aren't functional, only aesthetics" Way to contradict yourself! Aesthetics IS the function! And you can send most of the power to the rear wheels so that it behaves like a rwd car. That doesn't make it fake. That makes ti variable not fake. And so what if it weighs a lot. It makes up for it in its power and clever tech to help it feel agile and fun to drive and that's all that matters So it is a petrolhead car. No wannabe at all.

1:42 I don't want a C63 for the performance, a 4 cylinder can do better than a V8, especially with AWD. The only reason I want a V8 is purely for the sound of a V8 and its thunderous exhaust rumble... Cross-plane, flat-plane, DOHC, OHV, forced induction, N/A, long tube or shorty header, H or X pipe, etc. 4 cylinder for the daily commuter, V8 for nights and weekends. But if I could, I would daily a 1960s/1970s domestic restomod all day, everyday.
Remember when the amg gtr’s front end, especially with the panamericana grille was exclusive to the amg gtr? Good times, now it’s practically on any new mercedes.
Mr Guy ah, but when the amg gtr came out, it was the first street car to bear that grille. Then the year after they start slapping it on every other amg car. And now, not only did they make the grille common, but they also took the whole front end design and slapped it on other inferior cars such as this one here. The new e 53 coupe is basically a copy and paste of the amg gtr’s front end.
I got gla45 hatch not boy racer but for the massive room in the back when I fold my seats down . If your 5.6 you can sleep in back on an angle . Can't do that with 4 door car . Carry longer bigger loads . Great for shopping as well . way more practical for me .

Arguably the upgraded brakes actually don't make the car stop any faster(shorter braking distance) but rather helps with brake fade. Modern brakes today are already so good even on most normal cars. Maybe there's an idea for a "challenge" video here?
@John Gilroy so the first aerodynamics pack has canards and a little spoiler in the pictures but the improved aerodynamics pack only has a wing🤷♂️. I dont know if they forgot to edit it in or you have to combine them
This second generation AMG CLA looks like it has gotten feedback from the first gen customers and made this car really fun. The drift mode isn't just a gimmick, it appears they have spend a bit of time tuning the car's behavior so it is actually great fun to drive in the twisties. The engine loves to rev, that's a welcoming feature especially in the turbo era. The interior quality is vastly improved. I think this car just looks really sharp even the normal CLA looks pretty good. It's gonna steal sales away from both Audi and BMW that's for sure. Now, i think the model 3 can be an even faster car... but should I cross shop a Tesla with Mercedes?

Its not confusing at all if you look into. Cars have 5 core models, ABCES. SUVs fall under the G line and all start with GL, after that comes the model line, for example the GLA Class (GL for SUV and the A for its model line). Coupes are CL and roadsters are SL.

@@aao7785 sadly you are right. They are missing out then. A lot of fun, no matter what car it is. Even a slow momentum car can be fun. And a lot of good learnings made on the track that can be helpful even in normal driving for the average driver.
In my case as an average driver, my wife gave me a first track experience for a 40th birthday present. Opened up a can of whoop ass. Good safe adrenaline on a modest budget.

Amg really knows how to make a good car.... This one perfect for car enthusiasts.. I agree with matt... People should buy it... If ur not a guy car thing its a really practical car left a side the headroom at the back.... But its still a the best car in market... Congratulations AMG!

@@eventusvantos2770 The exhaust you see aren't connected to the whole system, are just a peace of metal. The sound you hear inside is intensifyed from the speakers. The mini-rear spoiler is ridicolous to be functional (the same with the little difuser). Many air intakes aren't functional, only aesthetics, and the "AWD" system may work well but i personally prefer the sensation from a rwd. But for me the worst part is that weights as much as a 2010s Sedan.

Its there for one design since you can't really curve the exhaust pipe itself into that curvy shape and two so that it acts as protection for the main exhaust pipe. That's like saying the metal lid of a led pencil that covers the eraser lid is fake.
And again amplification isn't fake. Its making it louder. Its not making a fake sound. So that's not fake. Bmw on the other hand fakes sound through speakers.
And they are functional. On the track they will make significant difference. And their main function is for styling to make it look more sporty

And you can send most of the power to the rear wheels so that it behaves like a rwd car. That doesn't make it fake. That makes ti variable not fake.
And so what if it weighs a lot. It makes up for it in its power and clever tech to help it feel agile and fun to drive and that's all that matters
So it is a petrolhead car. No wannabe at all.
@@eventusvantos2770 That's the point, the function of many parts that use to be there to improve the performance are only to seem like a sportscar, and needs a lot of tech to feel like one. I don't like this car becouse represents the end of the analogic sportscar. I'm sure ir perfoms pretty well, but would not be my way if i had the cash and i would go for a sportscar. A lightweigt machine under the control of the driver vs a powerfull mole that calculates all for you and goes brum. Thanks, i won't keep it.

1:42 I don't want a C63 for the performance, a 4 cylinder can do better than a V8, especially with AWD. The only reason I want a V8 is purely for the sound of a V8 and its thunderous exhaust rumble... Cross-plane, flat-plane, DOHC, OHV, forced induction, N/A, long tube or shorty header, H or X pipe, etc. 4 cylinder for the daily commuter, V8 for nights and weekends. But if I could, I would daily a 1960s/1970s domestic restomod all day, everyday.

Mr Guy ah, but when the amg gtr came out, it was the first street car to bear that grille. Then the year after they start slapping it on every other amg car. And now, not only did they make the grille common, but they also took the whole front end design and slapped it on other inferior cars such as this one here. The new e 53 coupe is basically a copy and paste of the amg gtr’s front end.

I got gla45 hatch not boy racer but for the massive room in the back when I fold my seats down . If your 5.6 you can sleep in back on an angle . Can't do that with 4 door car . Carry longer bigger loads . Great for shopping as well . way more practical for me .

Arguably the upgraded brakes actually don't make the car stop any faster(shorter braking distance) but rather helps with brake fade.
Modern brakes today are already so good even on most normal cars.
Maybe there's an idea for a "challenge" video here?

@John Gilroy so the first aerodynamics pack has canards and a little spoiler in the pictures but the improved aerodynamics pack only has a wing🤷♂️. I dont know if they forgot to edit it in or you have to combine them
This second generation AMG CLA looks like it has gotten feedback from the first gen customers and made this car really fun.
The drift mode isn't just a gimmick, it appears they have spend a bit of time tuning the car's behavior so it is actually great fun to drive in the twisties.
The engine loves to rev, that's a welcoming feature especially in the turbo era.
The interior quality is vastly improved.
I think this car just looks really sharp even the normal CLA looks pretty good.
It's gonna steal sales away from both Audi and BMW that's for sure.
Now, i think the model 3 can be an even faster car... but should I cross shop a Tesla with Mercedes?

Mercedes models really confuse me. I started having a look at their range and there are so many trims and versions I got lost.

Its not confusing at all if you look into. Cars have 5 core models, ABCES. SUVs fall under the G line and all start with GL, after that comes the model line, for example the GLA Class (GL for SUV and the A for its model line). Coupes are CL and roadsters are SL.
@@godlyweirdo Still confusing. This CLA from the video comes from A-class but is bigger so it should be B- or C-class.
@@StrangerHappened its really not confusing. The CLA is the coupe version of the A Class, idk whats hard about that. The GLA Is the SUV version of the A Class and so on and so forth.
@@godlyweirdo It's confusing because they have their own cars competing in categories, specifically sedans. Like this car competes with AMG C63. Or for example, you have the E class coupe that has a starting price like the CLS coupe. To a normal consumer who wants a Mercedes I think it'd be a little confusing. IMO I think having C, E, S, & maybe CLS for sedans makes sense, they all start farther apart in price and the different upgrades closes the gap

Looks great. Really surprised the quad-exhausts are actually fake. What the hell AMG?! Anyway I hope they make a A45 saloon - that would be wicked. Oh and personally I am really intrigued by the new Arteon R. Can't wait for Matt to give that a go! Sad to see less people going for the saloon cars these days. They have always been the best looking.
