    Love it! Topping my list of what I am considering is the fully loaded 2023 Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum Diesel or the fully loaded 2023 Audi Q8 or SQ8 Prestige. Might consider the fully loaded GMC Yukon Denali, Reserve or Ultimate, though I don't like the brown leather seats color of the Ultimate, but the massaging seats don't come with the next level down, the Reserve. So likely the Cadillac or Audi. Great review, very thorough, as always! Since I will likely not buy until mid 2023 or so, I wonder what changes might be instore for the 2024 models. Either way, what a beaut!

    The 2023 Escalade looks stunning and I am a firm believer that a diesel engine is the way to go with huge American SUV's. A Diesel mild hybrid would be even better for the future and would get great mileage.

    would the diesel be the right choice if I do more, short trips, in-town type driving with occasional highway? I thought i heard somewhere that the diesel was not the best choice for in-town, short trips .. this driving was hard on diesels.

    • @BenHardyCars
      @BenHardyCars  Год назад +2

      6.2 would probably be better in that case

    • @pervertfudge

      short term nothing changes. long term (60k mile) possibly you will be faced dpf (cloging) or egr (rough idle) malufunctions. less than 13 mile (20km) trips causing this kind of malufunciton. also diesel engines became more efficient when they are hot. cold engine short trips causing more consumption.

    • @bradleyrotterman3052
      @bradleyrotterman3052 Год назад

      These diesels are to be used on interstate use or long range to get the maxium mpg's outta these things! I have a 2022 3500HD Duramax 4x4 Crew Cab High Country & when I start it up.I drive it for at least an hour or two.

    • @evans4you
      @evans4you 9 месяцев назад

      For city driving I would opt for a hybrid or electric like say the hummer

    • @hajjdawood
      @hajjdawood 7 месяцев назад

      I have the 3.0L duramax in my Tahoe. The first 5-10 minutes of warmup you will get awful milage. Once the engine is warm youll get 25-35 easy if you drive well.
      So if your just driving a few short miles def get a hybrid or something else. If you drive city but enough to warm it up fully get it.
      GM has a smart auto heat thing to clean out the filter and if you arent driving enough to clean it, it will tell you to keep driving to finish cleaning it out.
      Ive never seen it because i always drive 20-30 minutes each trip

    For the money, those rear seats look REALLY uncomfortable. Just flat slabs with some fancy stitching. If I wanted overpriced, cheap, uncomfortable seating, I'd buy a minivan. Shouldn't be the case in a "luxury" truck like this. It's also a shame to see they installed a BMW shifter in the center console. Guess they couldn't come up with something nice on their own. I'm not sure I'd say this out-does the Lincoln Navigator in pretty much any sense. It's a little different, but...meh. The diesel was an interesting addition to this truck, and the fuel economy numbers are pretty good, but it definitely wasn't quiet. It sounded like a tractor going down the road. Despite the numbers, I suspect it's underpowered for the task at hand and the 6.2 would be the better option.

    • @hajjdawood
      @hajjdawood 7 месяцев назад

      Its dead quiet on the inside and very smooth. I also regularly get better then the government estimates with my combined city/hwy over the last 450 miles being 28.3 mpg

      Diesel is better for towing, smooth and balanced delivery. Inline 6 is a super smooth configuration. I have the same torque at 1500 rpm that the 6.2L needs to be screaming at 6000 rpm. Diesel is luxury, it isnt just about the fuel. Not to mention a lot more reliable

    Outside of Escalade and diesel 100% awesome but inside sucks big time compared to navigator interior comfort. Push button trans engagement keeps console uncluttered for other uses. Then there is the 1000 way adjustable seats but standard are comfy. Moving to second row Cadillac stiff uncomfortable and heated option and that’s it! Navigator much more comfortable heated & cooled and massage! Console for storage and armrest plus easy to reach climate control as well as AUDIO CONTROLS! There is just no comparison on the inside! GM HUGE FAIL! Complete redesign and they don’t even match or beat their biggest competitor!!! Oh only other Cadillac option that’s awesome is the front console fridge/freezer option
