I think the unfair call made the drama. When even the fans see the error from the court side but the umpire right in front of it makes the wrong call 2 or 3 times, that’s drama. IMO that is. It begins to look like the umpire is calling what he wants to not what he sees.

It is ridiculous that they are not using Hawk eye technology at Cincinnati. I don't think Tennis needs Umpires and Linesman any more when technology can take care of all the requirements of modern sport. Human judgement is always prone to errors and Draper as a British should have shown more magnanimity in conceding the point when the ball has already bounced in his part of court.

I think most everyone agrees that having more widespread video review in pro tennis is a good idea and long overdue, especially with the big prize money at stake in today's game and the large viewership numbers. The fans and players want and deserve to "get it right" when it comes to close calls and important points. The technology is available and fans have become used to and accepted video review/VAR in the major sports leagues now so why not have it in tennis also. With that said, one challenge for tennis is that unlike the major pro sports leagues where games are held on a single field of play, tennis tournaments have multiple fields of play and it's likely not practical to have each (court) set up with the necessary cameras to have different views & angles etc. So they have to figure out when and for which matches the video replay will be used. The US Open did a pilot last year with video review on 5 courts and this year they are expanding to 9 which they say will cover "almost 75-80%" of singles matches. Good news indeed.

Well, you should ask Djokovic what he requested a Chair Umpire Aurelie Tourte in Paris playing with another player during Roland- Garros match. That was also a problem Djokovic cause. The ball was in, and he requested the referee to review it because he saw it out, and she followed Djokovic instead of reviewing it on replay, but all the viewers on TV could see it was still in and the referee made a mistake and Djokovic know. Therefore , both are needed by the Chair Empirer and a visual review, a camera way like the hockey or football referee has.

To all the boneheads going after Draper and falling at the feet of Djokovic, go watch his match against Murray at Miami 2014. First set 5-6 Murray serving. Opening point Djokovic puts his racquet over the net to put away a volley. Umpire missed it and awarded the point to Djokovic. I didn’t see Djokovic giving the point to Murray. Murray subsequently lost serve and the first set. Video replays showed what happened and Murray attributed no blame to Djokovic and instead directed his anger at the umpire.
Context here is that even Felix acknowledged it was for the umpire to get the call right and do what was right and not Draper.
I am not pouring shade on Djokovic and I am in agreement 100% with what he said. I am fed up with casuals thinking Draper needed to “concede” match point when I have highlighted an example of Djokovic getting the break of a bad call even when he knew his racquet was over the net. Don’t recall the outrage at Djokovic. Bad calls happen, but crikey tennis has had the technology in place for years and can eliminate most of these bad calls.

Players are such divas lol i can see them abusing this system and every match having ten minutes of nothing just do video refereeing and then all the arguments and everything to come.
Its a noce idea but things are never implemented well enough

Not very nice from Nole, he should just keep quiet and stay in his lane like Roger and Rafa. Not his job to have an opinion or even more so if it’s actually correct, his job is to just play tennis, make millions and make it out like the ATP does a perfect job……and then everyone will love him unanimously 🤪

I don't see any problems with what he has said or anything, that can steer any controversy whatsoever...you are pulling straws here...and everyone in the comment section other than yourself is supportive of what he has said and reacted positively, so it's just you, sorry to tell you that...
