Build a set is a big challenge, more A than B and more B's than C's. The B's and C's are toughest, but the C's are the most scarcest. Murray is from "C".
What a find! I had never heard of these errors before on 1982 Topps. Definitely worth getting it graded. I look forward to hearing how it all turns out out for you.
So cool! Congrats. I remember when I was a kid they talked about the Pascal Perez as having this feature and that was a very valuable error card. Didn’t know there were others.
I just ran across three of those cards last night as I clean a card box out.I have about 9 boxes in my attic full of cards I bought starting 1970's to present.
Dude...that is crazy awesome!!! I honestly didn't even know that was a thing!!! If it were me, I'd definitely send it into PSA the you will without a doubt know!!! Either way, crazy awesome PC pickups my guy!!!👊🏻❤️💯
The 2017 Topps Archives set had Blackless for the 82 cards (Murray is card #181). Pulled a few of them in that set. I have to dig thru my old cards to see if I had any 82 in there. Cool find!
Pretty cool! The denny's holo is rad too, I've never seen that motion one before, Denny's was way ahead of the time there ... matter of fact, come to think of it, Denny's always had great baseball promo cards & I still eat there when I'm on the road, they have a great breakfast value meal ... haha
I only see one recent sale of that, Eddie Murray card which did sell for 1000 dollars. Hard to say how much you would get though due to like you said, there's just so few sales over the past 5 or 7 years. I guess a lot of it, will also depend on demand for it. Hope it works out. Even a couple hundred dollars off of just .22 cents would be an incredible profit for a 1982 Topps card. Best wishes.
WOW! I thought you got a steal on those Ryan cards and then that Murray card! I'm hoping it's the real deal, I collect everything Ryan I can get my hands on. I also collect J. R. Richards cards as I was a big Astros fan when I was young. Thanks I enjoyed watching.
I note the Murray card dont have the Position but note have faint signature(Ghosting). If the card have residue of black in the signature is a semi-blackless, but if gray ghosting and dont have the thin black line around the player picture and complete missing Position is a Blackless. I have the 95% of the set and i have 1/3 Murrays Blackless graded by PSA. Congratulations for this great finding!!
First off, that's a tremendous find. Congrats. Here I was floating on Cloud 9 b/c I found (and sold) a $30 card from a dollar bin (HA). That being said, I'm curious what a more recent, post bubble, value would be. I see a Carew PSA 7 in early 2023 went for ~$130, and a Reggie PSA 6 in APR 2023 went for ~$100. I don't think you have a $1,000 card, but definitely one worth authenticating at PSA and very likely three digits in value.
Turning $1 into $30 is always a win! Not sure what this card is going to be worth. This is from sheet C, which is much rarer (apparently) than sheets A or B with probably fewer than 20 copies in existence. That’s why they don’t come up for sale too often.
Yes this is a black list card I also have one I got at the start of the 82 cards being sold I did not know what it was till yeas later but i did notice the 2 missing prints right away no position and no signature great find get it graded mine came back at a 8 that looks to be around a 6 or 7 grade --/- Anthony
The other thing that is missing (and likely most talking) is the black border around the player Definitely looks like a black less to me, great find man!
Me too! I hadn't heard of the 1982 Blackless before your video. I'd been chasing 1990 Blackless for years with no luck, and then this just happened! What do you think - should I grade it to confirm it's Blackless?
Nice catch on the Blackless Murray, most people don’t know about them. You should get in contact with Junk Wax Hero, he’d love to hear your story especially because his video helped piqued your curiosity!
Hmmmm 🤔 that's a tough one... The Frank Thomas is more famous, but the Henderson is so cool! And it's one of those "if you know, you know" cards. I guess I'd take that one.
That's the Blackless Card My Friend!! AWESOME SAUCE FIND!! GREAT VIDEO!!!
Thanks!! It’s so exciting to just stumble upon it.
Incredible!! I'm going to check my '82 TOPPS cards. Awesome pick up, my friend, thanks for sharing!!
Supposedly there's 396 cards that ended up blackless from the set and approximately around 100 copies of each exist.
That's what I was seeing as well, though the number of each cut sheet varies. Sheet A, ~100, Sheet B ~50, Sheet C ~20. But those are all estimates.
Thanks, Al! This will likely turn out to be my first grading submission. 😬
Great find on the 82 Murray.
Learned about blackless today. Great find dude.
Wow, i gotta check my Murray collection out now . Great score, congratulations
DUDE. That sent chills down my spine. I noticed it IMMEDIATELY. '82 was one of my favorite set s growing up and I know it VERY WELL. NICE FIND!
Thanks for the confirmation! I was so unsure when I bought it, but was willing to risk a quarter to be wrong. 😁
awesome find great video thanks for sharing
Cool! Have to go check my '82s, too...
What is up my brotha 😎✌🏽 very nice cards and congrats on the Cali Great Eddie Murray card 🥳👍🏽
Love the JR Richard rookie. Interesting variation on the Murray - never saw the blackless variation, great find.
Nice! Can’t wait to see how the story unfolds!
🤞
Wow! Great finds! Grace and Sandberg, Nolan!! I don’t know about the Eddie Murray, but I hope it works out for you!!🤞🏻🤯😁⚾️
One of the all- time great switch hitters multiple times hit Homer's from both sides in same game .
@@carystorm1863 Veryvtrue! He is also the most under rated too, he was sooo good!
That’s awesome! I’m going through my 82 Topps as we speak!
So cool! Congrats. I remember when I was a kid they talked about the Pascal Perez as having this feature and that was a very valuable error card. Didn’t know there were others.
It's been fun to research it and learn more about it, for sure.
Pascual is no Position, but not a Blackless card.
NICE find on the Murray!!!
Awesome. Congrats!🎉
Great luck! Hope it works out very well for you.
Yep good eye, l love finding cards like this I have some modern topps without name printed errors 😮
I just ran across three of those cards last night as I clean a card box out.I have about 9 boxes in my attic full of cards I bought starting 1970's to present.
great find, kudos to your 'eye'!
Dude...that is crazy awesome!!! I honestly didn't even know that was a thing!!! If it were me, I'd definitely send it into PSA the you will without a doubt know!!! Either way, crazy awesome PC pickups my guy!!!👊🏻❤️💯
Very exciting! I think I'll probably send it for grading just to confirm that it is Blackless.
Congrats on that Eddie for sure!! Sent that in and do a follow vidoe of it when it comes back
In the mail to PSA right now!
2 of those sales were the same card. Great find!!
Looks like the real deal! Great job recognizing that, wow, it's a huge find!
Thanks! 99 times out of 100, I probably would have just passed it over. I just happened to notice it!
Wow what a find really nice congrats
Great find! I hope it works out for you...all for the cost of a postage stamp from 1982!
So fun!
Plus the high fee of grading
@@barrywainwright3391 REALLY high grading fees... It's $20 for PSA to ship it back to me?? Total cost is going to be $50...🙃
I will have to chrck my 82 topps out. I have maybe 5,000 to go thru. Thanks for the heads up
I had no idea this was a thing. Just checked mine, the black ink was there haha! Sweet find!
It's funny - I've been actively hunting for 1990 Topps Blackless cards for a couple of years...then this 1982 just falls into my lap! 🤷♂
The 2017 Topps Archives set had Blackless for the 82 cards (Murray is card #181). Pulled a few of them in that set. I have to dig thru my old cards to see if I had any 82 in there. Cool find!
What does Blackless mean?
Good eye finding that Murray
Amazing pickup!
I’m really surprised I had never heard of these. Guess I better go digging!
Yes! Who knows where one will turn up!
Learned something new today! Great find and you earned a sub. Thanks for sharing!
That's what's so fun about this hobby - always something new to learn. Thanks for the sub!
You’re right JR Richards was the most underrated pitcher I think ever❤️ great video. Keep up the good work.
J.R. Richard --wow I have not thought about him since I was little chubby guy. Great Video.
Haha! Such a tragic story of a talented pitcher.
Can't wait for the follow up when it comes back from PSA. Huge find!
Me too! 🤞
Awesome! Nice score on the Murray!
Thanks!
Congrats on an awesome find!!! Dave
Thanks, Dave!
Good eye! Definitely looks like a score. Id grade it & see what happens!
nice find!
Didn't see any of those murray cards on ebay . I think u found a great card
That's pretty cool ⚾️😁
Yeah, it's made it pretty hard to get pricing comps... What I show in the video is the only thing I could find!
Pretty cool! The denny's holo is rad too, I've never seen that motion one before, Denny's was way ahead of the time there ... matter of fact, come to think of it, Denny's always had great baseball promo cards & I still eat there when I'm on the road, they have a great breakfast value meal ... haha
Totally agree! Those Dennys cards are 🔥
What an awesome find. Definitely get it graded and share the results of the Eddie Murray card. All thanks to the RUclips collecting community.
Absolutely! I didn't even know about these printing errors a few months ago until I saw a video about them. We'll see what PSA says... 🤞
That’s a sick find man!!
I’d definitely message baseball card collector investor dealer and he would definitely put that on his card bargain episodes!
Good call! I did email him, asking if he had thoughts on comps. It's hard to tell what a comp would be on this without many similar sales.
After watching this, I remembered a Carlton Fisk card I bought when I was a kid at a flea market. Just found it! Looks practically mint!
Get it graded for sure will make for a good story.
I only see one recent sale of that, Eddie Murray card which did sell for 1000 dollars. Just wow bro…heck of a find
That's a crazy find!! It almost looks like someone tried to write his name in pencil and it faded. Just subscribed 🤝 -Red
That's what made me question it a bit. But I guess that depends on when in the process it was printed. I guess it just ran out of black ink gradually.
Great thats awesome 💯
Great score!
WOW! I thought you got a steal on those Ryan cards and then that Murray card! I'm hoping it's the real deal, I collect everything Ryan I can get my hands on. I also collect J. R. Richards cards as I was a big Astros fan when I was young. Thanks I enjoyed watching.
Wow! I knew there were other people who collect JR Richards!
I have a S--tload of 1982 Topps that i bought as a kid , in 82😂, and i never knew this. Thanks brother 🤘🤘❤🙏
Go check them out for any blackless!!
I have the Rickey Henderson Blackless. Have found the Fernando AS as well in a common box.
😳 WOW!!!
I note the Murray card dont have the Position but note have faint signature(Ghosting). I have the 95% of the set and i have 1/3 Murrays Blackless graded by PSA. Congratulations for this great finding!!
Thanks for the info!
very cool. sometimes you get lucky
Looks like the real thing! The thin black border around the image & Topps logo is missing too. Amazing find.
Thanks! I was in disbelief!
That card is phenomenal. I love it. Get it graded just for the confirmation of what it is.
Thanks! That’s the plan!
Congrats
Very interesting. Concerning the Murray; Not a recognized variation/error by PSA or BGS. 🤔
Awesome cards and video my friend
Glad you enjoyed it!

Hey, great buy on the 82' Murray. Blacklist in full effect. Your card has some border issues. But you have a rare card there, sir.
Thanks! Yeah, I'm hoping for a PSA 4 in this condition, but either way, it was SO FUN to find this!
I watched your vid again. So, yeah your card is a blackless Murray. I think it will grade better than a 4. BTW just subscribed@@waxpacks
Congratulations 👏
Thank you 🙌
Didn't know about these blackless cards! 😮
I was 2 in 1982. 👶
That's a heck of a find!
That’s news to me! Get that Puppy graded!
Planning to!
That is cool
Another thing to look for is that the black line frame around player picture is missing. Looks like it might be real.
Yes! For the In Action cards, I think that's the only way to tell.
Great find but it'll grade no higher than a 3 with those corners
Yes this is a black list card I also have one I got at the start of the 82 cards being sold I did not know what it was till yeas later but i did notice the 2 missing prints right away no position and no signature great find get it graded mine came back at a 8 that looks to be around a 6 or 7 grade --/- Anthony
That’s awesome!
The other thing that is missing (and likely most talking) is the black border around the player Definitely looks like a black less to me, great find man!
Thanks!
The black trim around the picture is missing also
Havent been to a card show in Boston since the canseco/ mcgwire / greenwell signing.
Cardboard Connections is doing them pretty much every month in the Boston metro area now. It's been great!
Yooooo this is awesome! I hope it’s real!

Agreed! He saw it and sent a note. 👍
Nice !
Did you send it in to PSA yet? If so did u get the card back and a verdict?
Yep! It came back and it is indeed a blackless card! Graded at 3.5
Speaking of weird cards. I found a 1985 topps card with the wrong player on the back. Not sure how common it is.
Sweet find man! Probably not better than a 5. Faded and off center. Still definitely worth your 22 cents I think.
Agreed. I was thinking probably a 4, but we’ll find out! The faded part is because of the lack of black ink. Not sun fading.
@@waxpacks maybe, but looking at the other one you showed. Looks much better than yours.
Nice that’s a blacklist card
Nice Buys! New Subscriber!
Thanks for the sub!
@@waxpacks 👍
I just sold a complete set of the 1982 Topps baseball. Too bad I didn't see this video before I sold them.
Eddie Murphy wow.
Great, now i have to pull out the 82's again 😂.
Is this specific to Eddie Murray?
I believe there are ~350 blackless cards in the set. But they’re pretty rare.
Why not send it in, nothing to lose, everything to gain.
Hope you get the money
🤞
❤
Blackless Hendo or NNOF Big Hurt which would you rather?
Hmmmm 🤔 that's a tough one... The Frank Thomas is more famous, but the Henderson is so cool! And it's one of those "if you know, you know" cards. I guess I'd take that one.
Looks like it's faded from sunlight or artificial light in a showcase....Mine is much more defined. The yellow tone just looks questionable.
Came back from PSA as blackless! 🙌
It looks legit to me. I've never heard of them being counterfeited either.
Good luck, man! Stories like this why, I’m in the hobby! Let me know what happens. I have no idea what to think about that other than it looks legit.
It certainly keeps it fun!
That's a cool card...no autograph
Noyce one bruva!
That is awesome! What do you think the grade is?
Looks well off center and looks like a 3 maybe..
I'm thinking a 4 would be reasonable. But who knows. 🤷♂ Depends on how hangry the PSA grader is when they look at it! 🤣
I hate it when the cartridge runs out of ink
Please send that Eddie Murray to PSA - I need to know. I'm hitting the sub
Sent it yesterday!
@@waxpacks Nooice! 😃
It seems to be an extremely rare card. Hopefully you can grade it and sell it
That’s the plan! We’ll see how it goes. It’s a fun journey!
