I’ve watched numerous videos on RUclips on how to install car parts motorcycle parts, etc. I just wanted to say yours was probably one of the most informative and step-by-step. What a great job you did.
RUclips need more videos like this. If all RUclips videos would be so easy to understand life would be more simple. Thanks for all the advices and tips.
Greetings from Australia. Thank you very much for your informative videos, I was able to setup my Denali CanSmart, D3, B6, Innovv K3 and Third Eye perfectly on my 2023 BMW triple black. Saved 700£ on labour, took me 10 hours as it was my first time.
I am watching this video and so far, so good. I have a set of Denali D3s that I have already mounted to the bike( HD Electra Glide 2017) I purchase the Camsmart that calls for direct Plug and Play. I will not be doing any other steps but straight plug and play for complete install. I will hook the device up to all the lights I can. Love your videos very much.
I am loving the obsessive perfection of this installation. I've ordered the D7 bundle with a B6 rear light and having it fitted by Steve the Maestro. Can't wait!
Your videos are excellent! I had heard that it was necessary to remove the tank on the GSA to fit a Cansmart and Denali D3 lights and mounting bracket, but your videos showed it was not necessary. I have now fitted my bundle along with the B6 rear light to my GSA and I am very happy with the installation, and much of that is down to your videos and the great help they provided.
I bought over $1000 in Denali stuff eager to put it on my 1250. D7 pros, cansmart, tail light , and horn. After watching this and other videos I have determined that I have neither the time nor patience to do this install well, so my OEM lights will have to do.
Thanks Steve. In the process of this install now on my 1250GS (not adventure) and this and this and the 1250GS screw by screw videos are the reason I bought my D4 bundle from you. Just found your video on installs with the Wunderlich upper crash bars but unfortunately not the same as the Touratech. Keep up the good work. (btw, DHL ships to the USA faster than I can get from FedEx one state over. They've been great for your shipments.)
Hi Steve, S4 bundle, and rear light all fitted today. Your video was really helpful (although I passed on shortening the cables). F! that horn is LLLOOOUUUDDDD!!!!
I fitted the Ezcan, D4’s and soundbomb this weekend - just as you describe. Ezcan is a great piece of kit. Always phaffy getting a neat wiring solution but very much worth it. Thank you for your help and support.
All of your videos to install the D4 package from you has worked out really well. The only gap is seeing how you would install the B6 lights on the rear. Not sure how you’d recommend running the wires into the rear.
Hi Steve. Just a quick thought for you maybe. I purchased a Denali bundle from you and already had my own DVR camera system to fit to my 1250GS. I struggled with (good) access for the CanSmart and DVR module under the seat(s). As there is a reasonable amount of room ‘behind’ the BMW tyre pressure module my solution was to move this to a much more rearward position effectively under the rack carrier (not difficult in any way) The net benefit of making the aforementioned move was to create a better space and easy daily access for my CanSmart and DVR module under the rear seat. Love the video(s) and my bundle and just sharing an idea. All the best.
@@ABIKETHING I fabricated a screw fix mounting out of plastic so that the TPM was securely mounted but just much further back. Like a great deal of ideas it’s not new but it worked for me. All the best.
Hi Steeve. Thanks for the vid. Just installed yesterday my set of Denali D4 Lights , together with Compact SoundBomb and rear B6 Light. All ordered from you of course 😉. I was really interested in this new way of doing things with cutting and soldering but really I think it’s too much work and hassle. Following some of your previous (and from others) video you can tuck out all the wires in excess beneath fairing and the visible result is perfect. And for the positive to the battery I go directly for the + on the battery itself (and not the big red plug beneath the battery front panel). The length os the CANSMART wire is then just right and the fuse is not in the way when you access the battery. In this manner and with some electrical cable sleeve everything is neat and looks OEM.
This install sits well with my obsessive attention to detail when installing accessories. Got my heart set on a GS1250 for the next bike and these videos are adding to the upcoming cost 🤣
Love the install, yes a lot of additional work snipping and reconnecting connectors..... but well worth it. Fantastic job. If bike has no TPMS I'm assuming the connector is used on the (S1000XR - 2019) available connector that is in situ of where the TPMS should be located?
Hi Steve…this video is amazing, thanks! Short question. Could I use just one harness and then use one terminal to connect the left D4 and the other terminal for the right D4. Since it comes with 2 terminals at the end I thought maybe I could save the fuzz of running two harness, but I don’t know if it won’t recognize the left and right pods and the cansmart will assume both pods are on the same side of the motorcycle Thanks!!
Great video steve shame you only just put it up as I got my bundle about 3/4 weeks ago and had to figure it all out for myself would have loved the outer sheath to keek it all looking so net cheers Drew
not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend recently =)
Hi! Thank you for all the great content of your videos! I hope my question is not too offensive due to the obvious BMW biased. So, here I go!!.... I am getting delivery next Monday of a new 2021 Honda Africa Twin ADV DCT and was looking at the Denali site for light system, unfortunately there is no Honda dedicated CANsmart controllers, so I would like to know if you have any suggestion? Cheers from Mexico City!!
Good evening. Really liking your video's and your sheer selflessness when it comes to demonstrating the installation of the Denali bundles. Q. Do you install the Denali system to KTM's.
Thanks mark. Not entirely true......I get a lot of supportive subscribers buy their Denali gear from me on my website so there a little bit of profit in there for me and it’s certainly better than what RUclips pay 😅. KTM, yes absolutely!
Very clean install. Only thing I would say is don't move the fuse, you want the fuse as close to the battery as you can since you are going through more areas of the bike. prob won't be an issue but better safe then sorry :)
great video. very informative and easy to follow. btw, what is the brand of the soldering iron you were using. really looks good and easy to use. thanks
Excellent video. I have the R2019GS HP edition. I’m running the D4’s with the yellow lens on 2 circuits. I like the modulation feature during the day since it draws more attention to me from the other cars. I’ll be adding a single B6 under the license plate and a split sound bomb since I’ve got the Wunderlich upper and lower crash bars. (I learned I needed the split version from one of your previous videos.)
great video, although I don't think i would attempt it myself due to the soldering/crimping necessary (no tools). How can you manually adjust the light power when riding?
Excellent well presented video, will this cansmart plug into and control genuine BMW spot lights, and also control centre brake light to be a side light aswell (so 3 tail lights) 2022 1250GS , cheers .
Hello there inmate greetings from Sunny Diego CA, I wanted to know if you have a installation video with 2 sets of lights running in one circuit? Thank you.
Hello, Great Channel ... Thank you for creating it, I have bought you the 70 mm emblems for BMW R1250 GS, I have installed the Can Smart I am using them with some Denali lights and the horn. I will need some more cable to connect this what I just bought from you and that has already arrived. Thank you very much, I hope for a prompt response.
If we buy into the CanSMART ecosystem, can we add *switches* that will be recognised by the CanSMART/Hex module? We're wavering between a basic power distribution module and the CanSMART ... there are four switch blanks on the R1200RT nearside fairing we could use for controlling DRLs and other lights in due course and it seems sensible to use these rather than remember additional key action combinations for the existing switches (so a plus for the PDM). What do you think?
Hi Steve…. What is the size of the extension cable you used to the battery please… trying to order some cable for a neat and tidy installation but not sure of the cable diameter… cheers Phil
Mate. I have a gen one Cansmart and want to run a pair of D4 and a pair of D3, can it be done of will it not have the amps on the other channel ? Cheers
Just wondering about showing install of the cansmart. I have just ordered on your website about 2 hours ago for my S1000 XR 2017, S4x2 , cansmart and crashbar holders as I have SWMotec ones. Later I will get another set of lights using the Cymarc bracket have save up again.😉 Can you tell me where the cansmart plugs into on the XR? Is it the where it has the plug for the alarm but the XR does not have it fitted?🤔 you convinced me they are alot better than others and thought as you are putting the time in with the video's you deserved the business. Hi Steve, good morning. I'm Marcos and I'm speaking from Chile. Thank you very much for your video, the reality is that I really liked your passion and dedication to make the video very professionally and it left me with many of my doubts clarified to install my CANsmart and my D4 spotlights myself. I only have one big and unique question... Can I install the CANsmart GenII on a BMW G310GS motorcycle??... this is my motorcycle, I don't have a GS1250 :( like many but I do want to install these headlights and I don't know if I Can the CANsmart work for my model. I hope you can answer my question or at least know what controller model I can install to control the lights on my G310 GS. Thank you very much in advance and many greetings from CHILE, SOUTH OF THE WORLD
Hi Steeve, Thanx for the information. I have installed Denali D7 with Cansmart in my BMW K1600GT/2012. Everything went fine and the lights are working perfectly but the issue now I got is that the Radio/multimedia disappeared completely. All the multimedia (radio, bluetooth and communication ) have been disappeared and been stopped. Did you have such issue before? Many thanx for your feedback in advance.
I understand the video very much. I have question. Can I change the horn cicuit to a pair of light circuit and install it to my D7? How many amperes will use for that? This is my set up plan. 1 circuit for B6, 1 circuit for right D4, 1 circuit for left D4 and planning to use the horn circuit to a pair of D7. Will it work?
Very good descriptive video !! Question. Are there any Can-bus nodes in the front of the bike, where you can loop in the can-smart module? Seems like alot of wiring work to get all the wires from the back to the front. I work in the industri, and I'm used to place I/O-nodes closer to the actuators :-)
Hello. Is it possible to make the main beam work on the standard switch for the bike? All main beam sets I have come across always have an extra switch where you turn the main beam on and off. I would rather not have this switch. Thank you for your answer
Good day Steve, A friend of mine had issues with his gen-2 cansmart . He’ had a pair of D4s (wired to BLUE and YELLOW circuits respectively), D7s wired to the WHITE circuit, and brake lights wired to the RED circuit. Under this setup, he constantly experienced malfunctioning of the D7s (under the white circuit) ie, the shortest plug (from the cansmart) which would otherwise be used for brake lights. After setting up the connections differently, ie D7s to the RED circuit, D4s to YELLOW and BLUE circuits (separately), and brake lights to WHITE circuit..., We noticed that all light pods functioned properly. Under normal circumstances, the gen-2 cansmart should accept any load, under any circuit, provided that the amperage is set correctly. But it seems that the WHITE circuit on the gen-2 cansmart is set to only handle low-draw accessories. NOTE! Under the setup mentioned at first, The malfunction only occurred after a period of use. We have altered the connections (as mentioned subsequently) and the functionality of all light pods seem to be normal. Please, would you be kind enough to help with any further information. Does anyone have both D4s and D7s (with the D7s in the WHITE circuit) ? Kindly reply with your experience. Thanks 🙏🏽
Thanks for short and sweet question 😅. Hmm, welll this is not suppose to happen but let’s see if we can get to bottom of this.......what model and year is the bike?
@@ABIKETHINGI’m so sorry I had to present an epistle 😂. But, I just had to give precise details. The bike in question, is a 2021 model GSA HP. Thank you once again for your prompt response.🙏🏽 Your channel does more good than ever imagined 😁
Hi, just a bit of advice, I have a 2008 gs Adv with No TPMS, ABS or ESA modules, I’ve just spec’s it that way from the factory, where would the connection from the Denali connect too in this situation. Thanks.
Thanks Steve for your great videos. I would like to know if the Denali CANsmart and the HEX ezCAN are the same controllers, both being manufactured by HEX in South Africa, but one is marketed by Denali, the other by HEX?
I wish to fit a set of 'T3 Denali' lights to the front and the back of my Suzuki GSXS1000F (2021). Is the bike fitted with a CAN Bus system that I can use to assist me, or can I just add them in?
Is there an aftermarket Can Bus complete with its own SJB that can be installed parallel with OE Can, with its own software and GUI? That would truly be a Modder's dream.
I'm thinking about buying the cansmart for my r1200gs. Is it possible to add a switch between the cansmart? Power Off means default factory settings for lights and so on, power On means all the options set. In some cases (example police control) you don't want to have a flashing brakelight and so on. Thx in advance
What happens If you use the cansmart software and set light intensities for day and night and then you change them on the bike with the BMW controller? When you restart the bike does the cansmart remember the last setting or does it revert back to what the software is set at?
Bit confused. Does each light have its own wire going to the cansmart? On another video it was just one wire from the cansmart which then split into two and then went to each light. I’m getting bogged down with wires and circuits.... I’m guessing it depends on how you want to figure the lights ??
Hi Phil. You’re confusing gen1 with gen2. You can run a gen2 like a gen1 but one of the main selling points of the gen 2 is the ability to switch respective right or left light off when indicating. To do this you have to use 2 circuits and programme them in the software to a pair.
Hi great videos i must say.. i am running the D7 on the gen 2 cansmart on the red circuit along with the brake lights and the sound bomb on other two circuits. Blue circuit remains vacant .. need advice on the amps for the D7 on the red circuit pls.. on diagnosis the d7 show peak amps at around 16 amps.. shuld i make it 20 amps on the red circuit?
So just one circuit for your D7’s then? I’m having a brain block right this moment. I can’t remember the draw on the D7’s but I’m sure they’re 10amps combined on one circuit. If the circuit isn’t tripping then no need to amend.
What if we fit a additional fuse box directly to battery? And use it to connect accessories? It should work . And not interfere with canbus , and work as normal … am I wrong ?
My denali cansmart gen 2 interferes with the tpms module on the bike and throws up a fault on the tft about tire pressure limited functionality and take to BMW service department! There's nothing connected to the cansmart and it does this, when I unplug the cansmart the error goes away so its definitely the cansmart causing this issue
Everything on my CamSmart set up is Dymo labelled on male & female connectors and all harnesses are neatly laced in place. All loose cable runs which are out of sight are securely laced to prevent movement / vibration.
Yes you’re right but there are other places plus the back of the din doesn’t take up all the room down there. I just wanted to point out that it’s ok to extend/shorten to suit your own requirements.
Yes absolutely. I have customers bikes here every week. I don’t advertise it as I’m not set up yet for high volume installations and there’s more than. enough bikes coming in every month to keep me busy as well as run the mail order side of the business. Email me at steve@abikething.com for me details.
Thanks for the great videos. Why buy new plugs? Its a lot cheaper to just buy new pins and replace the pins or re use the original plugs you cut off and solder them back on at the right length like you did with the fuse.
@@corneferreira7691 good point! However new pins will not fit the plug. I know, it doesn’t make sense but somewhere along the line denali have had the plug internals made differently between the ones on the devices to the spares we can buy. But you’re bang on, Can just resolder. Save money but reduce my sales 😂
Can I suggest a minor change to the cansmart. I am 69 with the dexterity of a 69 year old. I connect the cansmart easily, however when I connected the laptop, I fumbled and the cap fell into the bowls of the machine, never to be seen again. Could you suggest to the manufacturer that the cap be tethered to the device. Also could you do more clips about the f850/f900.
Hello. Did you not buy your cansmart from us? We give a tethered cap to every customer who buys a cansmart or ezcan. abikething.com/product/denali-cansmart-hex-ezcan-dust-cap/

Thank you once again for your prompt response.🙏🏽
Your channel does more good than ever imagined 😁
Hi, just a bit of advice, I have a 2008 gs Adv with No TPMS, ABS or ESA modules, I’ve just spec’s it that way from the factory, where would the connection from the Denali connect too in this situation. Thanks.
I just purchased my 2023 GS1250 here in Texas. Do you have a detailed list of parts to order for the installation plus rear brake light and horn.
Yes, go to the website and use the filter to search for your bike and then select abikething bundles
Brilliant greet video. Thank you.
Any cansmart over heating issues?
Thanks Steve for your great videos. I would like to know if the Denali CANsmart and the HEX ezCAN are the same controllers, both being manufactured by HEX in South Africa, but one is marketed by Denali, the other by HEX?
yes same product but denali include all the connection harnesses to connect up your accessories.
Can the r1200rt panels be installed after the D4's are installed or to I test, then move the lights out of the way to reinstall the panels?
8:41 lol I was about to comment that you forgot heatshrink on the other connection. Official BMW tape? Must be very fancy-pantsy.
Can i use a seperate key for Stock horn , and Denali Horn?
......but on bikes with little space under the seat having a shortened harness will make the job look even better.😁😁
Well done, but being new at this, why would i need this? You have excellent taste in caps, hats, headwear, whatever they're called in England.
I'm thinking about buying the cansmart for my r1200gs. Is it possible to add a switch between the cansmart? Power Off means default factory settings for lights and so on, power On means all the options set. In some cases (example police control) you don't want to have a flashing brakelight and so on. Thx in advance
I have a 2016 BMW R1200R. Do you have a Denali Cansmart Kit bundle for my R1200R? I think need a mini soundbomb and D2 and B6 and necessarily bracket.
Can you tell me what driver you are using please?
can i use a 2 wire LEDs? not denali but a third party, UPDATE: yes i can , its works like a charm , just locate the + and - from the stock harness
Is it the same simple installation of Cansmart on a bmw 2022?
is there a way to have one of the circuit as always live?
Hi Steve, What wire cutter/Stripper are you using in this Video?
@@ABIKETHING great thanks. Starting to make sense. 👍👍
Amazing video
What thickness cable is the power line for the ezcan?
Thanks
if you go to the web site called WISH you can buy a box set for around £8 so they can be handy
Great.. Pro Sir 👍
12:00 Do you get engine errors that need clearing after disconnecting the battery to attach the cansmart terminals?
What if we fit a additional fuse box directly to battery? And use it to connect accessories? It should work . And not interfere with canbus , and work as normal … am I wrong ?
Trigger wires????
hey, is the software and the userguide for cansmart also in german available?
My denali cansmart gen 2 interferes with the tpms module on the bike and throws up a fault on the tft about tire pressure limited functionality and take to BMW service department! There's nothing connected to the cansmart and it does this, when I unplug the cansmart the error goes away so its definitely the cansmart causing this issue
You are the best!
Can use for S1000XR?
With a Dymo label everything makes sense - even next year or for another person😂
Everything on my CamSmart set up is Dymo labelled on male & female connectors and all harnesses are neatly laced in place. All loose cable runs which are out of sight are securely laced to prevent movement / vibration.
Fuse location on a 2021 GSA clashes with the relocated din power / cigarette lighter socket is under the left thigh (when seated)
Yes you’re right but there are other places plus the back of the din doesn’t take up all the room down there. I just wanted to point out that it’s ok to extend/shorten to suit your own requirements.
Do you fit them to customers bikes
@@ABIKETHING better keep my mouth shut then aye? You need money to make more videos to educate us.
you are awesome!
Great videos. Better camera focus would be appreciated. 👀
Is it possible to install more than one camsmart?
Yes I have videos on this
The fuse NEEDS to be near the battery to perform the best. Its risky to place it far away .
Thanks
I need help? How can I contact you?
That is CRAZY complicated. Not once have I ever been able to successfully splice wires. Never works. Looks so easy but it’s like a black art.
New viewer here, and alot of your videos are out of focus often 1:32
Why buy a product where you have to cut and solder when it could just be designed as a plug n play?
Great videos but you need to sort your autofocus out dude :-)
@@ABIKETHING I am in Australia. I can not find anyone here who has them. I looked at your site and the AU$50 shipping for a 1oz part put me off. I have found replacement plugs here, however I do agree that your solution would be better. I have not put my 2021 f850 gs down in the water yet, but I know it will happen someday..
