    Just got done watching the D3 beam comparison video you made a year ago. It definitely helped me hone in on which D3 I would like (hybrid) for my RT. However, one opportunity I feel not addressed in the video was light comparison with the yellow and amber filters installed. It is an option provided with the lights and it would have been helpful to have that comparison done especially if a rider is considering any D3 with those filters installed.

    I've got a 2008 Goldwing and I'm planning on a trip and want some light when driving at night thru the Hill country, desert and mountains. It looks like the D3's are the ones for me. Probably in Hybrid mode. I'd probably run them at 10-20% day and night for visibility and seeing a bit extra at night, until I get to no lights and traffic, then it's up to 100%.

    60mph equals 88 feet per second, so 750 feet away is 8.5 seconds down the road, nice. I hate strong light bounce back from road signs and we have a lot of them in eastern Penna. I love having a D7 on the right side that is angled ever so slightly left and misses much of the road side signs. On the left I have an LED light that scatters light in all directions for Conspicuity, like 2 lane 75 mph roads out west in the daytime when you don't want an oncoming car to pull out at you and start passing the RV and line of cars following. My old bike has a Lightforce Halogen 6" spot and the newer bike has the D7, both light up all kinds of animal eyes straight ahead on the road 7, 8, 9 and even 10 seconds down the road at night. I slow in turns or when using low beam.

    Why the dark/unlit horizontal band in the middle of the light pattern with the D3 fogs?

    • @DENALIElectronics
      @DENALIElectronics  2 года назад +1

      That is the nature of the fog pattern to meet DOT/ECE certification as a fog light. Many "fogs" on the market with less thoughtfully designed optics will spill/waster light into oncoming traffic which can distract other drivers. The light "cutoff" of the D3 Fog is ideal for street legal and safe illumination down low and pairs perfectly with our driving lights!

    Nate
    It was my intention to install 2 D7’s with Selective Yellow Lenses WITH a Data Dim Controller on my X-ADV750.
    I wanted to use the D7’s as Daytime & Nighttime running lights - setting the appropriate brightness (maybe 30 - 20%) via the Data Dim controller for Day & Night riding in trafficked or urban areas.
    …but I wanted to switch the D7’s to 100% by flicking on the high beam/low beam via the Honda OEM handlebar switch when in dark, untrafficked conditions - but NOT by dialling the Data Dim switch up to 100% & back to a lower percentage brightness which I perceive as an ’awkward’ (not instant) procedure.
    My expert dealer - possibly the biggest installer of Denali & PIAA lights in Thailand (Touring Edition, Bangkok) tells me he will not attempt to install (ANY lights) to switch High/Low beam from the Honda X-ADV750 OEM handlebar switch - because of ‘deficiencies’ on the Honda X-ADV OEM wiring loom - specifically tapping in to the high/low beam circuit.
    So, until you have a plug & play kit for the X-ADV750, Denali lights will not give me what I need.
    That’s a shame!
    You lose a sale, I don’t get Denali lights.
    The X-ADV is a huge seller for Honda - more global sales than the Africa Twin!!
    How difficult would it be to produce a plug & play loom for the X-ADV750?
    Would appreciate a reply!

As a primarily US-based company, we are somewhat limited when it comes to developing products on non-US bikes. Hopefully Honda will bring this model to the US in 2024 so we can develop some products.

  • @pvkappel

    Hi Guys, Question. The D3, street legal for high beam.(Hybrid model) Do you think it could be used with the Dual Intensity Controller to run them full with high beam, and low intensity with low beam? I wonder if this would blind the oncoming traffic or not? (considering the yellow lenses)

    • @DENALIElectronics
      @DENALIElectronics  2 года назад +2

      The D3 driving light is only street legal as a high beam. The D3 driving light at full power with any lens combination is likely going to blind oncoming traffic, if aimed for correct high beam usage. The proper way to accomplish your goal is to install a set of D3 Driving Lights and a set of D3 fog lights with a DialDim or CANsmart controller. This way you can set the D3 to full power with brights (highbeam) and low power when in traffic. And you can run the fogs as a proper fog light, street legal in oncoming traffic, at whatever power rating you would like.

      I will let our design/video team know and see what they can come up with. I can help you a bit if you are considering one over the other. The DR1 is best described as a pencil beam- the pattern is extremely tight and it not only lights up a specific spot well into the distance, the beam is actually quite visible as a conspicuity light as it waves or swings while you turn. The D3 spot is simply a beast with more usable light down-trail than the DR1 and a wider pattern.
      One of our dealers in the UK put together a video that shows the DR1 and the D3 in the same comparison around the 34 minute mark: ruclips.net/video/nKioaoLubLA/видео.html

    Thank you in advanced 🙏🏻

      Technically speaking, yes. The D7 was designed to be a light set that could do it all with plenty of reach for 99% of situations and enough width for a normal road or trail. The D3 Driving Light with the spot beam is more the same style as the DR1, a purpose built spot beam with maximum distance and a relatively small beam in the distance.
      We are releasing the D7Pro in January 2024 and while it will have a longer throw and significant bump in output, the D3 stands alone for a long distance spot beam.

      I think our design team is in contact with you about your options, but you will not be disappointed in either setup. The D7's are seriously impressive and look great on the front of most any big bike. The D3 fog and spot combo is also a killer combination with a smaller footprint.

    In the video you refer to ‘D3 Spot Lights’, D3 ‘Fog Lights’ & D3 ‘Hybrid Lights’ - suggesting there are 3 variants of D3.
    I assume there are also three D3 lens colour options (white, amber & yellow).
    But, your website does NOT show 3 variants of the D3 lights & the descriptions of the D3 lights are either’Driving Lights’ or ‘Fog Lights’.
    Are ’Driving Lights’ (on the website) the same as the ‘Spot Lights’ in your video?
    Where are the D3 ‘Hybrid Lights’ on your website?
    I think your website is a bit of a mess. You have ‘Driving Lights‘ & ‘Fog Lights’ tabs from the hamburger menu but if I tap ‘Driving Lights’, I’m shown Denali ‘Driving Lights’ & ‘Fog Lights’.
    I’m want to buy a set of D3 lights with ’Selective Yellow Hybrid Lenses’.
    Please confirm what the product number is for this variant of D3?

      The D3 has two variants: the D3 Driving Light (diamond beam arrangement- DNL.D3.050) and the D3 Fog Light (2 over 2 arrangement- DNL.D3.051). The D3 Driving light includes a spot lens and a hybrid lens (when used together with one on each light we call this a combo beam).

    • @DENALIElectronics

      Two different lights: driving and fog.
      Fog has only one lens available in white, yellow, and amber.
      Driving has two lens options: spot and hybrid (both included) in the color of choice.

    Is there any option to adjust them to get 5000k or just a bit below?

    • @DENALIElectronics
      @DENALIElectronics  10 месяцев назад

      Somewhere between 5000-5500 is right for the D3. There is not currently any way to adjust production models beyond changing out the lens for yellow or amber.

    • @1JRW1
      @1JRW1 10 месяцев назад

      @@DENALIElectronics in any quality light, the color temperature needs to be published as part of the specs. If it is a quality product, the color should be very specific.
      If you say it is between 5000k and 5500k, it seems your quality control is pretty low.
      I really like the functionality and power of Denali lights, but the most important aspect for a confortable and safe driving is getting the right color.
      It seems Baja Designs is far superior on this.

    I really wish you guys started putting a small strip of LEDs on the side of your lights so you can see them 180*. Maybe a small reflective hole on the side of the lenses would work.
    DRLs work great on the front forks but I'm sure you guys can do better.

      By looking at this video and reviewing our certifications for driving lights, the oncoming traffic is fairly straight forward. The D3 Fog light (when aimed properly) can be run at 100% all of the time without blinding other motorists. All of the rest of the lights in this video will need to be dimmed and most are certified for high-beam street legal use. Hope that helps clear up any confusion!
