DENALI SoundBomb Horn Comparison and Decibel Sound Test - What Horn is Best for my Vehicle?

- There's no doubt that our SoundBomb Horns are the loudest in the game, but how loud are they really and which is the best horn for my vehicle? In this video we beak down the differences between our SoundBomb Original Horn, SoundBomb Split Horn, and SoundBomb Mini horn to help you decide which on is right for you. We also demo the horns to give a side by side sound comparison between each DENALI horn and a typical motorcycle horn (Sound Test at 6:39).

Defensive motorcycle riding sometimes is not enough. My Denali horn has saved me a few times now. Money well spent for sure. Just ordered another one for my new bike as the old one got traded in for a new bike. Five years with no issues. This sucker is LOUD!
We are so glad that you are enjoying your SoundBomb!
Great video!
One thing to mention is that, the Decibels scale is non linear, meaning, a 10db increment is different from where you measure that increment from. These things are loud!
It's a winner. Mounted one on my V-Strom 1050XT and it sounds more or less like a Mercedes. Gives you an equal footing on the street when car drivers get out of line.
We love to hear it! Stay safe out there!
Great Video! I have the Sound Bomb original on my 2021Yamaha Super Tenere mounted with the bike specific bracket. It is really LOUD alerting other motorists when needed!
We love to hear this! Stay safe out there and thanks for the support!
Great video! Very helpful. I am trying to decide which Sound Bomb to put on my Indian Pursuit
It's hard to beat the SoundBomb classic!
Great sound... really needed in today's crazy roads ! 😊😊😊
You are not wrong! We are always trying to help riders stand out!
This is perfect, plan on getting this for my bobber
You will love it! Be sure and check out our horn with cover kit too: denalielectronics.com/collections/soundbomb-horns/products/soundbomb%E2%84%A2-compact-horn-cover?variant=30468218191972
I know what i need now. Thanks!
Happy to help!
I would love to see you create a dual "original" set up, tuned to work as 4 total tuned horns! Because if one Denali Soundbomb is awesome, two tuned to work together would be epic!
Thanks for the feedback! I will pass on your input to our design team!
Love from DeKalb Mississippi USA 🇺🇸
Thanks! 🤘
Glad to hear how it sounds. I bought the sound bomb 1 piece for my 2021 street bob, it came with no instruction manual at all so now i can see how to wire it up.
Would love to see how to mount it on my bike. I was thinking to put it right where the stock horn goes but been told the opening for the horn should not be dacing forward, so not sure where or how to mount it.
We have the installation manual accessible on our site: d1l4i7f87txqmq.cloudfront.net/Installation%20Instructions/Denali/DENALI%202.0/Instructions_TT-SB.10000.B_rev02.pdf
If there is even a small chance that you will experience rain on your ride, make sure the trumpet is mounted facing down. If you are struggling to find a home for your SoundBomb, give our customer service team a call and we might be able to walk you through it. A SoundBomb Split might be a more appropriate horn for your application.

@@DENALIElectronics what about a bracket for installing on a 2021 Harley Davidson Street Bob FXBBS
Great demonstration! The driving lights on the Indian flashed when used that split. Is that a feature to help be seen? Or because the bike wasn't on and the extra draw on the battery?
amazing guys
Thanks!
Great Video. You should create kits to purchase for the Challenger/Pursuit and for the 2020-current Chieftain Limited/Dark Horse. Would love to get that for my Chieftain. Also, I assume you used a Dialdim controller for the D4's? what mount is that as well? Another thing I would love to add to my Chieftain instead of buying Indian lights.
We will feature the Indian setup in a future video giving all of the details of the install. We used the DialDim with the D4s on our crash bar mount. Keep an eye out for that video in the coming weeks!
I ride a Triumph Rocket GT 22 and I think the standard horn is pretty limp. I was going to buy the Danali Sound bomb mini, but the test in this video made the difference between it and a standard horn seem minor. Thank you for the vid none the less, because I learnt more about power requirements for different units, and that a power relay must be some sort of booster/amplifier.
I have a ‘22 rocket as well. I’m curious to what you ultimately landed on.
@@andrewscarlett2225 I did end up with the Denali mini sound bomb. I installed it myself, but it's really squashed in, and the echo chamber should be facing out. Mines facing in. Sound is louder but not obnoxious, and there's a screw on the side that might make a difference. Safe riding.
is the universal wiring harness included in the sound bomb split kit? or do i have to buy it separatley?
I think the SoundBomb Original would be a good replacement in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'll definitely look in to it, because it will be close to twice as loud as what the Jeep came with for a horn..
You will love this horn on your Jeep. We have installed SoundBombs on Jeeps, Lexus GX470s, Ford F-series and more! The sound is unbelievable!
Please tell me which flat bracket you used to mount the compressor that's on your website for ordering? Also, so you have a bracket available for the horn section? I have a 2023 Indian Pursuit, which is set up just like the Challenger in this video.
Do you have any suggestions for a "21 Ultra limited that has a Jims Forced air Fan installed at the original horn location?
Which model of Denali would you recommend for Kawasaki Z900RS?
What if I connect directly with out suing the wiring harness.
I want to replace the sound bomb compact with the split horn as I was advised by my mechanic. The compact version has been giving me headache whenever it rains it stops working.
Now it has stopping working completely. So my mechanic advised me to get a split horn but told me that a wiring harness will still be useless.
Do you have a vehicle specific for my 2019 VStrom 650 XT ABS?
Hi, could you tell me where is it possible to get police horn for my BMW R18 ?
These are great horns. I had the split horn fitted to my 2011 kawasaki Z1000. Finding a place for the compressor was a pain but managed to fit it behind the tall screen i fitted. The smaller horn I fitted to my 2021 husky 701. I also have a 2020 Gen 3 KTM 1290 superduke r which I'd like to fit the split horn some where descrete. I'm not keen on where you fitted the soundbomb on the KTM adventure in your video. Any idea's for my superduke r would be greatly appreciated. I'd also happily do an install video on my channel.
This is a helpful thread on ADVRIDER: www.advrider.com/f/threads/1290-horn-replacement-question.1210466/
Will heat be a deterrent to the sound bomb?
Greetings - thanks for the video - very helpful. The Original/Compact vs the Split - it appears as if they sound slightly different to each other in the video. Is this purely filming/handling, or does the tube make any difference to the output in any way? If you're in the room in the side by side test would you tell the difference? Thanks again.
Great question! Side by side in the shop or in our trade show booth, you can hear a slight difference between the two. I personally ride a bike with the split and a 4x4 with the original and I can't tell much difference in practice.
@@DENALIElectronics thanks very much. Much appreciated.
I am hoping a SoundBomb Mini will fit as a direct replacement on a 2022 H-D Pan America. I am not sure about a good mounting location for the original or the split.
This is what you are looking for to mount the original on the PanAm: denalielectronics.com/collections/horn-mounts/products/horn-mount-harley-davidson-pan-america-1250?variant=41067547951288

What kind of Denali is best for BMW F750 GS?
This is what I would recommend: denalielectronics.com/apps/cart-loader?cff_crt=acca541fdeed958840ee324a3cb8e032_1657023542707
100% plug and play!
Greetings. I have the same featured KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2020 featured in the video. my question is will the unit fit nicely while there is a KTM oem skid plate installed?
It will interfere with the OEM skid plate. You could make some minor adjustments to the mount to make it fit, but that's not something we can recommend.
For a 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport SV, what one would you recommend? I know I will need a relay and that would take the place of the existing horn so that it can allow power to the horn without overloading the vehicle's horn circuit. I can even tell that some low strength LocTite (the weakest one) would be helpful to keep any horn from vibrating off. Just make sure that it doesn't interfere with the ground of the horn or it might not work. It is like a glue or plastic.
Depending on where you mount it, the Original or Split would be a good choice. If you you have the room to mount it, the original is less complex and produces the same sound.

I like the soundbomb original. I'll have to look it up. Were the mounts universal or do i need to specify which bike i have?
Depending on the bike model, we might have a vehicle specific mount. If not, we have universal mounts that work in most applications.
Wow they are much more audible !
Is like to get a Sound Bomb Split for my 2022 Triumph Street Triple. Where can I mount it? It’s challenging without fairings to tuck it under.
I don't have any experience with that particular bike, but found this page helpful: www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/horn-relocation.9221/
These can be an alternative to a full horn and compressor set like the truck dudes use!
We have a ton of customers use their SoundBombs on cars and trucks and love them!
I’m hoping the sound bomb original will fit on a 2004 Harley softail without much problems or do I need to get a mount that you sell?!?! Thanks
At a minimum, you will likely need a universal horn mount: denalielectronics.com/collections/horn-mounts/products/hmt-00-10100-b?variant=15068507078756
Hi, I have a 2019 Honda XADV, which horn do you recommend to me?
The SoundBomb Mini is the one you need! The mini should fit in the stock location and not require any additional wiring.

Can you buy 2 compressors and hook them up to one horn to make it 2x as loud?
No, the horns are designed to be used with 1 compressor for 1 horn. SoundBomb horns are affordable enough, you could easily mount two horns!
Do you make it for a Harley Davidson Road glide Limited or Unlimited
Absolutely. Depending on the bike, there are a ton of different configurations that will work. We even sell a more "Harley-friendly" horn cover: denalielectronics.com/collections/all-horns
I have one on my bike and want to install one on my car aswell.
I have one on my bike and my 4x4 and it is a worthwhile investment in traffic!
Does it last as I had the wolo horn and it wasn’t lasting very long(maybe a year) it looks just like the sound bomb original
They last! If they don't they carry a 5 year warranty!
Where can I get those brackets for those LED cubes
All of the mounts in this video are universal and available here: denalielectronics.com/collections/types?q=Universal%20Light%20Mount
I assume I could put one or 2 of these on my Van. I can't find anything better for vehicles.
1 is likely plenty and we have installed these on all kinds of trucks, 4x4s, and vans. All that is needed is a 12V source!
I would say the sound bomb original is the ideal horn for a John Deere 12 wheeled articulated tractor or any large ag tractor over the factory Hella disc horn because of the monstrous size of the big machine. It beats screaming any day.
We agree and you might consider a couple for such a beast!
7:10 if you came here for the sound comparison
I really want an extremely loud horn for my subaru. You have anything for me?
Check out @Troytdesigns on Instagram, he just installed a SoundBomb on his Subaru. He seemed pretty stoked about it!

Could use the air compressor from Denali to inflate a tire ?(in case of emergency )
No, that would not be a use for the DENALI horn compressor.
@@DENALIElectronics why not? is not able to increase the pressure up to 2 bar? Active duration of operation should be less than ....sec/min ?
If you install an array of horns will the sum of their sound be louder?
We like the way you think, but not quite. It would take a large array of horns to notice a difference in loudness. My math might be rusty, but something like 8 or 9 horns would be required to increase the decibels enough to notice.
@@DENALIElectronics Thank you. I suspected that when I ran two lawn mowers together to test the idea, but did not have any instruments to make sure.
So from the test it looks like your soundbombs are really only 20db louder than a factory horn. Is it really worth the price and install for 20db? I am debating.
As mentioned by @Vvoltz a 10db increase equates to a ten times increase in sound pressure level (SPL) so 20db increase is equal to a 2000% increase in perceived sound, not a 20% increase. Hope that helps in your decision! Cheers
This is the way,
Have you put it on a vrod?
I don't think anyone in our shop has, but there is no reason to think it wouldn't work!
Are these waterproof?
They are not submersible like our lighting products, but they are designed to withstand rain, harsh weather, and wet road conditions. Remember to always mount air horns upright so water can not collect in the acoustics.
I have one of this installed in front of my car.... nice and loud....
We have several employees with Soundbombs on their vehicles with great success! We are glad yours is performing well for you!
I would love 1 of these for my 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic Luxury!
Even tho this is on a bike would it work on a car
Absolutely! We have installed SoundBombs and SoundBomb Minis on many cars from commuters to big off-road 4x4s.
Do they come in chrome?
We do not offer the soundbomb in chrome, but the black blends in pretty well on most bikes.
Ok thanks
How mant watts does it take?
It draws 20 amps when in use.
@@DENALIElectronics 240W!!
the last one sounds best
It's funny how each has their own unique sound. There is a SoundBomb for everyone!
Would like to see it in chrome finish! 👍🏼
We have a chrome cover specifically for the SoundBomb: denalielectronics.com/collections/soundbomb-horns/products/soundbomb%E2%84%A2-compact-horn-cover
I preferred sound bomb origional Horn
Can I mount this on My car
Absolutely! You can mount a SoundBomb anywhere it fits with a 12V battery!
Have the original, Sunday cyclists luv it!
It blends in with all the other plastic parts on the Indian.
We think it looks great on the Indian and most vtwins, to be honest!
Sound bomb mini is nowhere near the claimed db output, 115db claimed, 93bd output measured at your recommended distance, these snail horns aren't suitable for most bikes as they're just too big to install in the OEM location ... your snail horns are a copy of Mitsuba that have been fitted as OEM to Honda cars for yrs, which are a way louder horn than any Denali.
The mini denali bolt was to short to go thru the grommet on my Kawasaki z 400 2022!!!!! FIX THE LENGTH. Otherwise I couldn't get the nut on.
I will pass on your feedback to the Design Team to try and correct for that bike. Thanks for letting us know.
This is just a stebel nautilus?
It's not. We own our design and manufacturing.
@@DENALIElectronics lol, no.. its a stebel nautilus
Ouch. No love for the Can-Am Spyder RT. Too bad.
If your CanAm has a 12v battery, we have a wiring harness and a horn for your SxS. You will simply need to find a place to mount it and we have universal mounts for that as well.
YOu could have shown the bike before the install and showed how the actual install is instead of finished product.. :(:(
The purpose of this video was to compare the sounds of the different horns that we offer. We will work on an install video for you!
I wired up 2 model T arooga style horns on my old Volvo, it makes people jump out of their skin ....lol
Good one!
My god get on with it already
Thanks for watching!
Ktm 1290 mounting position is bad.
Thanks for your feedback!
TL:DR soundbombs are LOUD AS F% lol
Accurate!
A deaf person would be able to hear you now!
I bought two of these horns and they both failed within the year. I do NOT recommend these horns.
Please contact our customer service team for a warranty claim!
Horrendous horn. Far too loud and the bracket is a shocking and dangerous design. Almost killed me when it fell out from bracket(after following instructions given) and James my steering. Please don’t buy this. It’s just not good.
We have never heard anyone complain that our horn is too loud, that's almost a compliment.
What bike did you install your horn on and what mount was used?
@@DENALIElectronics really? Well, I guess you would say that. If you go on many of the motorcycle forums it does come up. What about your bracket for holding the horn in place?an inverted U and not a drilled hole. It’s your bracket that you would buy from somewhere like nippy Norman’s. I had to epoxy with Hysol, the screw as the nylon failed and it dropped out from the bracket. It was shocking. I followed the instructions implicitly
Pointed at the Motor .... Outlet should be aimed at Traffic ....
Doh .
For maximum decibels, the trumpet should be turned open to traffic. However, with an install that is 100% exposed to the elements, we opted to turn the trumpet inward to avoid any splash up of rain or puddles.
