No one will ever "copy" Karen. Harriet resisted recording Carpenters songs, but was asked so many times by her fans to do Carpenters covers, that she finally did some. She didn't want to be just another "Karen copier". That's just her voice and she said when she started performing at age 13, people started making the Karen comparison. Her voice has similarities, but has it's own uniqueness. She is very sweet and humble .She also writes and records her own music and has many earlier songs posted on RUclips. Find her on RUclips, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok as well as her own website. Richard Carpenter has heard her and commented on her low register being even lower than Karen's. Interesting voice. She has a VERY low register with the similar warmth of Karen Carpenter and VERY similar vibrato. Her higher notes sound more like herself, if that makes sense. I'd like to hear some of her originals. Beautiful vocal fry's which seem to come naturally to her singing. What's more scary is her similar facial features to Karen Carpenter. She could be her granddaughter.
Hi Harri, Harriet is from the UK and has been singing for over ten years. She has a lot of originals and non-Carpenters songs. That was her natural voice and she’s pretty good. The third ”Karen” singer is Chloe and she does have a tribute act, in the Philippines, I believe. She’s also very good. You already heard one fully realized song from Tori Holub, and I wanted you to hear another song. One that was meant for Karen but she died before even hearing it. The song is Something In Your Eyes. Written by Richard Carpenter and Cynthia Weil. It was recorded on Richard’s solo album, Time, in 1987. The lead vocalist on that was Dusty Springfield, with Richard. Tori, the youngest invitee to The Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration in April, sang it on the Acoustic Night Concert. She was the only singer, one of eight invitees, to sing a non-Carpenters song. She drew the loudest applause of the night. The concert was held at the church where Karen had her funeral and where Richard married Mary. A lot of history there and the audience had a lot of people who knew Karen personally. Tori hoped to “give the song some justice.” By the applause that night, she did. The sound at the church was boomy and there was crowd noise.
