How to Replace Sun Damaged, Dried, Cracked Exterior Wood Window Trim with PVC
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 сен 2024
- In this video, I replace my exterior window trim. This window is sun facing and the trim was very dry, brittle, and starting to crack. By replacing it with pvc trim, it will last a lot longer than regular wood. I hope this video helps if you needed to do this project or one like it.

Thanks for watching! 😃
I love the bloopers at the end. Pure comedy gold "This stuff is so clingy, kinda like my wi-" Had me dying, LMAO!
😂 Glad you enjoyed that. Just don't tell my wi
Bloopers are still one of my favorite parts
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your little Tuck, but don't Jab Song. The bloopers are great TOO!!
Always love watching your videos, it makes me feel like I'm at my brother's house helping him work on odds and ends like this. Can't wait to get my first starter home soon so I can turn these videos on while I work on my own projects. Also, I don't blame you for not wanting to scribe the bottom near the sill, that would be a tedious process trying to chip that away haha. Cheers!
Looks great! Bitter sweet seeing these last touches to the old house, certainly put a lot of love into it.
Using PVC, I think it's a great choice and glad you recommended it. I need to have the windows across the front of my house scraped and painted, they face east and get all that morning sun. I'm in Florida, so there's a lot of sun penetration. If any of the trim needs replaced, I'll be using your suggestion of PVC. I learn so much watching your channel. I'm not physically capable of doing the work, but when I hire someone, I know how they should be doing the jobs. Thank you.
I thank God that you are blessed with a great attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. I
Such a good person! Fixing the home for the new owners
Love it. U r teaching me what I need 2 do this summer. THANKS!😅 Your Oregon Viewer.
Great job. Thanks for the great teaching!
Always enjoy your channel! Thanks for sharing!
I like to watch to see how you use tools & what to do with the description of what you did. Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all

Thank you for showing the actual scraping result
I like the paint brush in the can, may use that.
Very thorough good info
Looks awesome 👍
Great job!
Good job. Thanks for posting.
The bloopers are nice to see that the process is never as easy nor does it go as well as many make it seem. haha
Comment to the community. Expensive caulk guns are worth it. I spent too much time fighting mine to dispense that caulk. Then I bought a $20 dollar caulk gun that magically multiplies the force applied. Makes the difference between struggling and doing.
Great video.. did not realize they had pvc trim good to know
Nice job 👍 mate
Love ya videos 😊
Be careful fitting PVC too tight on the measurements as pvc will grow slightly lengthwise when warmed up.
The Fixer 👍
I’m excited to watch
Great job and loved the video 😘👍🏻💕💕
Mercy we’ll just be looking from the road. Thank you for this.
Great job... Now I want to see you build new shutters with PVC.
pretty good wood made from the 60s! mine was made in the 90s and it looks like that! Maybe where i live has a lot of rain and sun!
Are you fixing the house for the new owners?
No thats the new one
Oh wait never mind its the one hes selling
Either fixing for new owners or he filmed it ahead.
Nicely done and great information! Love your content here in Australia!
The outtakes are the best 😂😂
When I caulk something, I have to buy twice as much caulk as I need because about half of it ends up on me or a towel because I have to have it PERFECT. I felt when you said..."leave it alone" lol
nice sharing !!!!!
Always enjoy your videos, but i noticed that you didn't caulk where PVC meets the siding 😮
I'd have removed the shutters BEFORE R/R of trim and taken care of shutters in a separate video as they definitely do require attention. Either way if you were going to take care of shutters in following day all's well 😅
Great video I really like it it might help me get my window fixed
Fantastic video. Question, I need to replace my window, sill, and trim. What order would you recommend? Thanks so much, definitely subscribing!
You can use a spray bottle mist water onto spray foam to stop expansion.
Love the outtakes…😂😂😂
@ 8:39 giving off Bob Ross vibes! lol Give it a little tucky tuck. Happy little insulation clouds.

Cute
Hi from Oklahoma (my mom & I need to do this on a couple of her windows) ✌🏻
I would have painted the sill before putting the trim on. I do not enjoy painting around trim.
Hello,
Does a trim require J Channels around it ?
Im confused. Is this your old house or new one? Take care!
I think you should have left the bottom of the window, where it meets the still, without caulking. That may have allowed any water that managed to get in to also find its way out
I'm looking forward to the slight touch up of your new 90's kitchen in your new house.
Don't you ruin that 90's vibe lol. Unless the wife says so of course. hehe

👏🏻🙌🏻👍🏻
I think I would have plugged the screw holes, don't like seeing the screwheads.
Great job but that stuff is so expensive.
We don’t use alot of pvc in Norway. But the pvc we have has some oil in it. Is the pvc in the States oil free? If not, you should not paint it. The sun will heat up the pvc and the paint will fall off…
Masterful singing
😁🙏🤣
I leave my 4" foam roller in my small bucket of Kilz Primer, lol.
Shutters?👍😅
Tuck, don't jam.....
😀👍
That’s what she said.
Matt, I can't watch this one. Absolutely too much talking 😕. I really enjoy your videos because you don't do a lot of unnecessary talking. God, bless you and your family 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾.
Kinda defeats the point of a how to if he’s mute
I didn’t think there was an abnormal amount of talking but if it’s not to your liking there are plenty of other channels out there. 👍 Thanks for the feedback.
@@TheFixerHomeRepair👍🏾 love your channel 🙂
@@chrisworster4878No,no, I didn't mean he shouldn't talk at all. I just meant there's TOO MUCH talking in this particular video, that's all.Anyway, blessings!
Is this your old house you are working on?
