I'd schedule the drywall delivery for day before window install. Get that drywall 10 ft + back from the window openings and being paranoid... cover it with plastic just in case the window installation is delayed. Fewest problems to overcome.
They probably don't know exact day of window delivery and trying to have drywall scheduled the day before wont work. It will go through that side opening no problem.
Before I retired about two years ago, I was a professional window cleaner. I recommend that you remove the stickers before you install the big windows. Hopefully, they just peel right off. If not, be >>extremely careful
@@kaseyc5078that was one of my questions. I’m going to go meet with the county officials that will approve and inspect my project. Way ahead of pulling my permits. I’m using a lot of unique methods and reusing windows is one part of that.
What an awesome collaboration. It's great to see Matt at the Stud Pack Project. So many great tips and techniques discussed. Those are beautiful windows with fiberglass frame and texture. Great job, Jordan on picking and buying the great windows. Nice lexel caulking, Paul. "Think like a rain drop" Pressure sensitive adhesive "PSA" Have an awesome trip back to Austin, Matt! GRK Cabinet Screws - who knew? Those are awesome! Too bad not black, not that it would make any difference, cuz you won't see them. Backing rod is an awesome tip. Look forward to seeing those massive windows get installed. Awesome video Stud Pack Team 👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰
This collaboration is EPIC !!!!! Two of my favorite builders in one show, this is a good day, Many Thanks to Paul and Jordan to invite Mr. Build Show himself to your dreamhouse build, many thanks too Matt for assisting our boys from stud pack. I've been a fan of these two builders for years now and they have taught me a lot, I mean a lot. Thanks again, and as Joe Dirt would say, KEEP ON, KEEPING ON guys don't ever stop building.
Seeing the quality and craftsmanship that Stud Pack puts into each job, has made a stamp on all carpenters of better knowledge. Having Stud Pack shows the right way the job should be done right. Learning different skills and products to make carpentry a word and not abuse or short-cut corners. While his family learns from building inspectors about shoring up a wall and meeting the challenge head-on. While getting the bracing to do it right without the walls falling down. Then bringing other people on the show to understand their skills too. As a carpenter, each time I watch your shows, it brings excitement to me. I want to be a part of your building of this house in Theory, but watching your shows is still the best treatment. Keep up the Best Work. Thank You
Great job having Matt on your build, I've been following him for 5 or 6 years and I started following you guys late last year, keep up the great work and we'll be looking for you on Matt's channel.
4:28 I like how they make you use a calculator to figure things out. The factory could just print "R-3.5" or "22%" on the label, but no, they have to be cryptic. 😂
I remember some of pauls first videos and how shy and quiet he was. Amazing to see the growth from 5k subscribers to where you are now. proud of you guys. keep up the good work!
Sweet! You guys have hit the big time. Build Show approved! I installed Impervia's in my house up in Mass. Not sure those screws were available then and I definitely caused some slight damage on a couple. Thankfully on the 2nd story. Fiberglass is great cuz the welds stay strong - unlike vinyl. They'll keep their stats as they age. You could start with a vinyl window that has a better rating and after the first year or 2 it's performing worse. The other thing I like is they're not flimsy. Didn't struggle as much with them racking or bowing. They did a little, but we just dialed it in. No regrets other than double-pane. I think I would have done triple if I did it again. Probably code now with 2023 IECC released and adopted.
I was the shop foreman at Pella of Georgia for 14 years having left them in 1996. When I left there ALL of their windows were stain grade wood on the inside and only had wood or aluminum clad exterior. Plus all products left our shop with jamb extensions applied to suit its installation location. Seeing these fiberglass units makes me feel the need to check them out, even though I am not going to be doing more windows in my lifetime, too old for that now. But I have 43 windows and 9 exterior doors ( employee discount ) in my house built in '86 and no issues with them at all.
Nicely done. I used Pella years ago for my garage/recording studio and was happy with the soundproofing provided by the double-glaze using differing thicknesses of glass. Best windows I ever saw were in Amsterdam where I lived for six years -- triple-glazed tilt and turn. They could open every which way and since I'd been raised strictly with double-hung, it was quite an eye opener.
Ha ha! I don’t think Matt would ever do that. Drywall AKA sheetrock all is very heavy and Paul mentioned in previous videos that they bought 5/8 drywall for all the exterior walls which is 25% heavier than 1/2” drywall.
Seeing you guys with Matt made gave me goosebumps. His channel and yours, as well as Scott Brown Carpentry are the best on RUclips. Keep up the great work!

Man, you guys have come such a long way since I first started watching your channel. Glad to see a family working and learning together. Also glad to see all of the content creators working together. My wife and I are glued to the TV every time you release a new video. Keep up the amazing work.
I love me Pella windows and Doors. After installing hundreds of cheap vinyl builder grade windows in other peoples homes, I went with Pella in my house. Never been happier with a window.
I like to use a piece of beveled cedar siding on the sill before I put the tape on the rough opening. It provides a slope to direct the water to the outside. I do the same for doors as well.
Oh wow these two fellas mess so good !! Matt’s show is great as well ! Honestly I never even thought about this team-up but what a great surprise !! Thanks guys for your time and devotion to skilled trade . I’ve been first time renovating way above my pay grade for the last year and half . Watching both channels . I’m a mechanical fella . Those tempered windows are looking sweet, can't wait to see how you do the big ones and what your plan is for the patio door! I'd love to see more collabs with Matt as well, you guys work great together.
It was great seeing Matt Risinger on the Studpack show!…I’ve watched him for more than 5 years and learned a ton of stuff from him. It helped me when I had my house built in 2020. He’s the best home builder around!…I also love watching your channel, I’ve learned a lot, I enjoy how honest and hard working you guys are. Paul is actually smarter than he takes credit for. Most window tint companies carry an almost fully transparant film that will cut around 80% of the UV and heat. I had it installed on my truck but it is also installed in homes. My truck used to burn me up here in the south until I installed the film. 3M makes it just search for "window tint anti heat" and the link to 3M will come up. This added to the Pella rating will make that house easy-easy to cool, and lower your cooling costs.
Very true, but some films are not diy, or require a specific gap between edge of window and film. I installed some Gila Film on my sun porch windows. It had to be applied in a specific direction, with a minimum gap on the double pane glass window to act as a thermal break. It was a job. Took all day to do 2 4' x 4' slider windows, and a set of 6' patio doors. Sometimes its easier to have a pro do somethings. 😊
I have that 3M film on my home windows, as the builder installed ones are not good. There was definitely a difference after we did it, especially on our giant south facing windows. They also cut down on fading of woods, carpet and fabrics.
when ordering Pella Impervia, you have different insulation glass options, one of which being blocking 95% UV. they simply chose to go with the cheaper option of 86% since it's like $300 cheaper per window.
On my previous house I was the owner builder. I put a 4x8 stationary window from the floor up in the master bedroom. It was facing east in So. Fl. You couldn't be within 4ft of that window. It was blazing every morning. I had a friend tint it and it made all the difference in the world.
Love the technique here! I'd personally wipe the squeeze-out of the adhesive away before applying the ZIP tape but it really does not matter. Keep up the good work!
I've been watching Matt for many years and not once did he pick up a screw gun........ Matt must really like stud pack! Great collaboration guys. I love both of your channels
When I started having more carpel tunnel symptoms, I got myself an electric caulk gun. My god, I should have gotten it so much earlier. I know you can't feel the caulk the same way, but once you get the hang of it, it's the most uniform application of caulk. It gets to the point where running with a finger barely adjusts the shape and I have very little I wipe/waste. Worth a shot in my opinion.
I second this. I love my battery powered Ryobi caulk gun. It’s especially good for PL3 and that kind of two part epoxy that mixes in the nozzle. Squeezing that stuff by hand wrecks my wrists.
If the lift is low enough to go through the garage doors, why not drive all the way through the garage then lift the drywall through the doorway to the deck in the back? Love the channel! Y’all do exceptional work!! You inspire us all to be particular about the details!!! Keep up the great work!!
Hey StudPack! Enjoyed the latest video! The guest appearance by Matt R from the BuildShow was a pleasure. It was really neat to see these two channels "join forces" and put the window(s) in! The combined amount of experience is always good to see! A quality learning experience watch the windows going in! Wish I could offer some thoughts on the drywall delivery - I'd normally say: Absolutely! BUT, going out over the roof *might* be a challenge. You'll find out!
Pro tip when using shims. Instead of forcing it up the way u did you could of slipped the 3rd shim in between the other two and tapped it in gently with a hammer until you got it where u wanted
I have installed windows for a few decades. I always leave shims in and cut them flush or rip some small blocks to fit. I have seen more window frames sag either due to size or heat over time. Especially vinyl and fiberglass. Or some guys fill with a low expansive spray foam. I started typing this before I saw the backer rod going in ... so that's nice to see. I also check the vertical plumb with a level and check for square by pulling a tape corner to corner. I have seen my share of Pella windows a bit on the trapezoid side. And Pella is my favorite windows period.
What did Matt think of your eaves? He was the first guy I saw talking about air barriers and conditioning the entire interior space. He build his house without eaves and then added a second set of roof framing that added more insulation to the roof and provided the rafter tails for the eaves.
i was hoping it was going to be matt risinger...i found his channel thanks to stud pack via the algo. love you both...big ass smile on my face watching the first window get fitted
@@ericpeters6691what are you taking about? You install the drywall last after the Windows install and applying the big stretch or foam in between the windows and the framing just like Paul did in the video. Also Paul, Rad and his sons need to install the stud bay or stud cavity insulation mineral wool insulation before you install the drywall. Also we don’t know if they’re installing drywall on the inside the window framing or using wood. Wood is considered old school but having wood is easy to clean vs drywall.
@@Nonsense62365Far easier to deliver the Sheetrock thru the window openings before they are closed up with windows. The Sheetrock stacks sit on the floor decking until ready for install. Can’t see trying to bring 12’ sheets up the garage stairs.
As a person that works at Lowe’s Millwork dept, wish I had that sale! I am a huge Pella fan, and I always try to get people to understand that advantages of the fiberglass. Great call Jordan!
30:31 A good Boom Truck driver should be able to do it in a breeze (I would come in straight and once he gets to the opening you pivot the load and slide it in halfway in the opening)
Great video guys. I vote to have the drywall delivered before the front windows are installed. Glad you also went with a fiberglass frame window. Great windows & doors by Pella.
The proper knuckle picker boom trucks should have no problem getting at that bridge opening. They can handle a ton of weight on a straight lift but if they have to reach fairly far they might just load say 4 sheets at a time as opposed to 8.
Stud Pack wins the internet today... Matt Risinger is the bomb... So good to see him doing a site visit! Great job on the windows... textbook install and then some! If the drywall crane can get lined up right at the corner, he can likely articulate the boom right around the corner, and drop the leading edge of the rock right into that bridge opening. As long as the ground is solid enough, and he can get lined up right. It'll be fine. That one tree might be in the way of the truck to get him lined up though. I do think he will need to have the front of the crane in plane with the side wall of the garage.
Long time fans of both, but 30 plus years in custom home building. I do not agree with the screws being used. I back cut the flange on the nail strip and thickness of fastener used to keep window trim as flush to wall as possible. Roofing nails work the best in my opinion. Usually 1 blade width of back cut on a table saw takes care of that otherwise great job and well sealed.
It was really cool seeing Matt R humping that first window up the stairs. Great show guys! I learned a lot and had some good laughs too! I can’t wait to see the house finished, and I know you guys do too. 👊💪👍
best part of my week is definitely stud pack episodes. love the collab. if jordan needs any help with some online grunt work i'd love to help anyway i can.
backer rod is essential for any joint over 1/8. Both silicone and urethane are only rated for a depth of up to 1/4 inch, otherwise they will not keep a seal with expansion/contraction.
Nice to see those windows boys! And yes they are nice. Im in Canada but ordered Pella for 15 years of custom home building. I started patronizing a Canadian company one their quality met the quality of the homes. Thanks for all the real life situations on this build series! I've been through them all lol. GO STUD PACK!
I love this series, watching the house go from nothing to something so nice looking has been amazing to see. also I work with deliveries at a building supply store, I've seen a boom truck get drywall into weirder places than that door you were thinking so it shouldn't be an issue
Very nice window installing. At 1 point U guys said...it will be a roof on top of the window....meaning, won't be any water issue in this window. But some contractors take advantage of this....& just drop the window in, a few screws, no silicone or taping. Here, U guys show the right way....& it's the way I like it. Good team work.....& I know I can learn from U, watching more Videos. Thank U...!
I dont doubt they could fork the dry wall on to the old houses roof but can the old houses roof actually support all that dry wall is another question.
Great show Stud Pack To get your Sheetrock in easier it would be better to go straight through to the back of the garage and go through the back door on the back deck then trying to make the turn and go through the side over the roof, hope it will work better for you.
@@StudPackAsk the delivery company the clearance on their boom trucks / loaders. They should be able to tell you how wide and tall you need to help with planning. If I had to guess clearance I'd guess around 9' 3" but I'm no authority.
The boom trucks I’ve seen aren’t any bigger than a 1500 pickup truck, and as for your floor for the amount of concrete you put in I’m sure it would handle it, but I think it’s worth a ask from the delivery company, good luck and love and can’t wait to see your next and future videos 👍🏽
How about get the drywall in there before you put the windows in. Maybe stack it on something to keep it off the floor. Throw a tarp over it just so you know it won’t get wet while you’re getting it totally dried in.
Nice work guys. Several others who post videos on this subject can learn from you. Notably: No calk on the bottom and use backer rod. So glad I watched this.

I'm glad you guys went with Pella, I sold them for year and have them in my house. I always loved them.
Matt is a true professional. Smart and Practical. His content is always top shelf. Great to see you teaming up.
Absolutely! He will showcase every product who pays him the most!
This is one of the cleanest installs I've seen while perusing videos today. Kudos for your professionalism.
This is the one colab I was really wanting to happen! Great job guys! Keep it up
Been watching you for years, you are just the best!
Thx for the support Margaret 👍
Two well spoken, highly competent experts. Bob Villa started build eduction TV decades ago. These gentlemen carry on that tradition well.
Certainly looks like a snow fall. Definitely informative stuff today as usual . Thanx to Pack & Matt
When Matt walked up the stairs, it made me smile! Great idea having him on!
may god bless your new home. keep it up gents
Yeah man. I am all smiles. Love you guys. Your channel is legendary.
What did Matt think of your eaves? He was the first guy I saw talking about air barriers and conditioning the entire interior space. He build his house without eaves and then added a second set of roof framing that added more insulation to the roof and provided the rafter tails for the eaves.
Matt made 2 videos for his channel also. Look for them in couple weeks. We discuss the monopoly frame
i was hoping it was going to be matt risinger...i found his channel thanks to stud pack via the algo. love you both...big ass smile on my face watching the first window get fitted
I vote for getting the drywall delivered before you put in the windows.
I agree. Have it delivered before the window install. Why do all that extra work if it’s not necessary?
@@ericpeters6691what are you taking about? You install the drywall last after the Windows install and applying the big stretch or foam in between the windows and the framing just like Paul did in the video. Also Paul, Rad and his sons need to install the stud bay or stud cavity insulation mineral wool insulation before you install the drywall. Also we don’t know if they’re installing drywall on the inside the window framing or using wood. Wood is considered old school but having wood is easy to clean vs drywall.
@@Nonsense62365he said delivery not installation of drywall
@@Nonsense62365Far easier to deliver the Sheetrock thru the window openings before they are closed up with windows. The Sheetrock stacks sit on the floor decking until ready for install. Can’t see trying to bring 12’ sheets up the garage stairs.
@@Nonsense62365And the drywall can sit there until they are done with the windows and insulation rains isnt going to get to it
It's great to see two of my favorite RUclips personality filling together Matt & Paul rock!
Excellent idea on the drywall delivery. Shouldn't be a problem loading from that location.
As a person that works at Lowe’s Millwork dept, wish I had that sale!
I am a huge Pella fan, and I always try to get people to understand that advantages of the fiberglass.
Great call Jordan!
Great looking windows, have you tried suction cups for glass, for lifting & installing the windows ? They even make battery pumped ones now.
It is awesome to watch you guys using premium stuff installed in the most premium way.
Zip , Advantech, pella, Big Stretch, GRK’s top notch
Carrying that window for a few seconds and helping install it is the most labor work Matt has done all year.
Hey...Matt's a RUclips star, not a laborer. Bob Villa always wore a 20K Rolex watch- do you really think he swung a hammer?
30:31 A good Boom Truck driver should be able to do it in a breeze
(I would come in straight and once he gets to the opening you pivot the load and slide it in halfway in the opening)
One idea is to move the drywall to the back yard, then to the deck, then inside. Love the vids good job :)
Great idea since you can drive all the way through the garage. I'd probably rather do that than opening up the walkway before you're ready.
Awesome endorsement!!! The Build Show!!!
Props to Matt, Paul, and jordan for still filming in the rain. The show must go on!!!
If you plan to air-gap the siding/surface treatment, those screw heads will make no difference. And Risinger is a big fan of that detail.
Best video ever with the surprise visit from Matt Risinger! Absolutely loved it!
It was really cool seeing Matt R humping that first window up the stairs. Great show guys! I learned a lot and had some good laughs too! I can’t wait to see the house finished, and I know you guys do too. 👊💪👍
Somehow I just knew Matt was gonna show up eventually!!!
best part of my week is definitely stud pack episodes. love the collab. if jordan needs any help with some online grunt work i'd love to help anyway i can.
I've had a tough day. I needed this little ray of sunshine.
I'll even tolerate Matt.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm loving these RUclips collaborations. The gang is killing it!
backer rod is essential for any joint over 1/8. Both silicone and urethane are only rated for a depth of up to 1/4 inch, otherwise they will not keep a seal with expansion/contraction.
Its not an actual collab unless matt gets to start off by saying "leeettts get goin".
Good work guys. This is the perfect flavor of collab!
I think I saw this right, but I love Paul's face when Matt drove in one of the window screws on an angle...😂
I saw it too.
Fiberglass windows have been my go to window for over 25 years. In my experience Marvin was slightly less expensive.
Put marvin fiberglass in back in 2010…have not had a single issue. All double hung widows operate great, stable and durable. Look nice too.
Great video!, and you got Matt to help you out in the rain !!
I think you can open up the bridge door as an access port just fine
two of my favorite builder channels come together! love it!
Thank U...!
I dont doubt they could fork the dry wall on to the old houses roof but can the old houses roof actually support all that dry wall is another question.
the current roof can't even support a stick.
Thats awesome! I replaced all my windows with Pella fiberglass down in Richmond (SW Houston) 18 yrs ago. Best decision ever!
Great show Stud Pack
To get your Sheetrock in easier it would be better to go straight through to the back of the garage and go through the back door on the back deck then trying to make the turn and go through the side over the roof, hope it will work better for you.
true but can the boom truck get through the drive through garage..?
@@StudPackAsk the delivery company the clearance on their boom trucks / loaders. They should be able to tell you how wide and tall you need to help with planning. If I had to guess clearance I'd guess around 9' 3" but I'm no authority.
@@StudPack Even if they could fit, they won't for liability reasons driving on your garage floor.
My 2 fav guys in utube..big fan for years . Hey stud packers in this epos. u got d best guy: the builder.
How about get the drywall in there before you put the windows in. Maybe stack it on something to keep it off the floor. Throw a tarp over it just so you know it won’t get wet while you’re getting it totally dried in.
That is my question too 😊
Nice work guys. Several others who post videos on this subject can learn from you. Notably: No calk on the bottom and use backer rod. So glad I watched this.
These guys, doing true craftsman work, AND making awesome videos to share it with everyone. The world needs more like them.
Matt is great! I knew you guys would eventually make a video together, great job guys!!
"Hey, are those windows tempered glass? Make sure they are!"
🤣
