Thanks Steve! I checked with APIKOL they are out of stock and likely going to discontinue their diff mount due to rising costs unless they can secure a group of orders. Apparently there is a much more inexpensive China product. Just an FYI to the masses.
That's too bad but understandable. It's hard to stay profitable serving an aging platform for items like this. Glad I got mine...billet looks nice under the car :D
Looks great! I am using the same set up for my rear differential too. I might have to look into the transmission Mount. The silicon snub mount was a nice upgrade too.
Hey! Nice to see more 25Quattro builds. I currently have my engine out and had it rebuilt, along with some transmission work, mount upgrades (about to do trans mounts) and slave cylinder upgrade. Awesome car, never sell it.
Thanks for tuning in. Which # is yours? FYI, because I haven't posted the update video for it yet, if you plan on doing the trans mount and decide to flip the hardware like I did, double check the bolt doesn't go so far through the top nut that it can touch the trans case. That clearance obviously isn't a consideration of the original design of the mount and intent of the hardware.
I looked at that TINY amount of aftermarket items on the table and thought.. Oh.. Boy!!! Besides being an older Chassis, and him being in Canada. That list of parts is about to get LARGER lol 6:30 minutes in... Now back to the video..
On a side note to the video, I am currently tracking an issue with the SAI pump constantly blowing fuses... which I have found that the wiring inside the harness is known to fray (aka plastic insulation degrade) and short. This also can trigger a fault in the VAGCOM for the engine mount. Going to check my wiring this week and see if that's what my issue is because my pump works. But also wanted to say you inspired me to pull so many after market parts out of storage for another build... such as stern Mounts, intake spacers, etc
One answer to two very different questions: I'm just a run of the mill corporate stooge who's a car enthusiast, but my background is marketing with a heavy dose of analytics.
On my A6 C6, mechanic said he would need to lower the subframe to get the old bolt out for the rear differential mount and to lower the gas tank, does this sound right?
How it goes with the Stern motor mount ? not too harsh NVH ... still good after 2 years ... asking to myself if Stern mount could be the BEST choice for my RS4. Thanks for your help
Personally, I still think they're great and I don't believe there are any signs of degradation since day 1. There's obviously *some* personal preference involved in determining NVH and of course I've got hardened mounts everywhere minus the driveshaft carrier so I can certainly feel the car and road but to me, that is input that's both enjoyable and useful when driving. I've also done some highway driving with the car since install and I wouldn't say any of the mounts have detracted from my experience. I wouldn't do mounts any firmer than what I have, though. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Hello! I am restoring a S4 B6 and i noticed that 2 off the bolts holding the bracket to the Gearbox is missing! Whats the Size and length of the one you removed? :) Maybe its the same, who knows! :)
Hi Tobias - To be certain, checkout this site to determine the factory part number and work backwards from there (this is the manual trans though - there are diagrams for all versions of these cars): bit.ly/3Q4m2iK
Yeah, you won't be able to find them or really any significant amount of aftermarket parts for the platform on a Canadian website. Local shops tend to be able to source most anything but you would have no real benefit ordering through them compared to doing it yourself. For those mounts you'll need to look at Apikol's site or order directly from Pure MS. 034 Motorsport also has a comparable set of motor mounts and you'll be able to order them from FCP Euro.
@@FigureItAudi ok I will look into that. I already have 034 both mounts. It has been 4 years and gets not good now so I would like to see if there is some other taste I can try
@@FigureItAudi By the way, I think the video didn't mention, but does this engine mount need custom work? For example, people say to 034 mount it needs to drill few mm to fit.
There's a hydraulic fluid inside the base of the mounts that work alongside an electromagnetic trigger to create either a stiffer or softer setting, depending on what the ECU asks for. Most people just replace the mounts with an aftermarket one without this feature and use resistors to "delete" the hardness connection. Which is what I did here.
That sucks! It could be a great chance to dive in and do some mods or go for more power though (contingent on budget, of course). Does is slap all the time while the card is running? Cold start? Warm start? Always?
My new B6 S4 ended up having Silver Projects solid mounts...nice little bonus!
Very nice car. Bet you can't wait to start driving it.

Awesome content, thanks for the informative videos on these b7’s.

If you haven't already get the 034 rear anti roll bar, best mod ive done
Yup, it's on there. Did it in the next episode or so of this series.

Hi, rather using jbweld look into Nord lock washer, that could have fix your issue, I'll let you know if it work!
Also, are you a mechanical engineer or an engineer period, by day? Also the music while you speed things up? Must be for your youngsters watching lol

Did you have alignment issues after loosening the subframe?

Hello there, I am curious where did you buy the stern mount? I can't find one at Canada website.

Nope, OE fit. The 034 mount requires drilling? Of the subframe portion that accepts it? Odd that would be needed.
@@FigureItAudi Yes, not the density, just the solid mount needed
Why is that the oem Audi month have a sensor

i got the worst news couple days ago. mh timing chain is slappin. i got to replace the whole timing chain kit

Replace it with rs4 metal guides it’s much much stronger
@@FigureItAudi u wont start to hear it till the car is warmed up and has been driven a little.
