I didn't see you torque the end link bolts while there was a load applied. Any concern about premature bushing failure?
Wow I forgot to mention that! Thank you for pointing that out. I put the rear on ramps after but camera was out of juice so I didn’t record it.
What exactly do you mean by this? What is the torque spec? Just installed my bar, brackets and new end links today. That bolt blocked by the fuel tank took 5 hours, 3 improvised tools and a lot of swearing to get home 😅
Just an FYI when ever you are tightning anything subframe and swaybar related front or rear its suppose to be done at ride height either vehicle on ground or 4 post lift or you can jack the knuckle on either side with a floor jack to replicate ride height. if done in a hanging position it will cause an great deal of added stress to the bushings once vehicle is at ride height after being tighted in a hanging slack position.
Neither billet nor aluminum is a solution for corrosion. Billet is just an indication of the stock it was machined from.
Aluminum will corrode and can corrode quickly in salt environments i.e. coastal or any place salting roads during the winter. This is especially true when aluminum is in contact with a ferrous metal which from the gold appearance of the bolts are likely a yellow zinc plating over carbon steel. These will corrode together due to galvanic corrosion. You can combat this with a good copper anti seize which has sacrificial copper mixed in that will react with the steel first preventing the steel/aluminum from corroding together.
Thanks for the info!
Very informative video. Well presented, filmed and edited.
Thank you!
This is one mod I want to do for my B5 A4! Thanks for the video
Definitely recommend it!
These are awesome. Definitely have to check them for a future build I'm doing
You should!
Enjoyed how you took the time in the beginning with the jacking and stand safety. Great video.
Thanks! And yeah don’t need anyone getting hurt
I’m always un sure where to jack.
Thanks for the very detail information Sir.
I also agree, the 034 rear sway was one of the best mods I put on my car, helps the car rotate much better.
Yeah it’s crazy how much of a difference it makes
Great video, explained very well thank you!
Thanks!
Looking forward to your rear subframe replacement video! keep it up!
That makes one of us lol
@@CIPGAS i have everything for mine on the shelf and have just bought a half height lift so just need some guidance and courage
I mounted the H&R rear sway bar and the 034 subframe supports. On the front axle I mounted the 034 end links but stock sway bar.I have a KW step 1 coilcovers suspension set up.I will change that to a bilstein B16 pss 9,change the front end link kit upper and lower arms (meyle HD) and a set of better tires(Michelin).keep your channel up,very nice work👍🏻
Sound like a vey solid suspension setup! Thank you!
I'm on the market for coilovers. How are the Bilstein coilovers fwlling for you so far compared to KW?
I have had this setup minus the end links on my car for a while now and I couldn't be happier with it. But as for that one bolt that you had to make a wrench for, I simply just pulled down the subframe and it made it a bit easier to torque that one bolt down.
Yeah lowering the subframe would have helped.
@Casey J Key it has been a long time since I have done the upgrade but as far as I remember I left everything connected and just unbolted the four bolts that held up the rear subframe and still had to pry down on it to get the clearance to install that one top bolt on the fuel tank side.
@Casey J Key not if you have the jack stands on the pinch welds of the body
Nice install. I still have mine sitting in the box waiting for my subframe and control arms to go back in. Should be a nice addition with the powerflex control arm bushings and 034 billet subframe bushings.
Should definitely tie things up back there, how do you feel about the subframe bushings?
@@CIPGAS unlike the fronts, a pain in the ass to install by yourself, seems like a good 2 person job. Fronts were easy.
I’ve put the H&R ones on mine, much thicker than the standard ones and work well 👍🏻
Front and rear?
@@CIPGAS yeah,BC Racing coilovers as well
@@baggedr32mk5 do they have h&r sway bars for b7 s4 avants??
@@eastoakland-S65feen sorry buddy i’ve no idea, have a quick check on their site or google it 👍🏻
Great channel, thanks for all the great info! Your car looks lowered but you went with stock length endlinks? I thought you need to have the adustable when lowered.
The adjustable links help a lot when really low but at the height I am the stock length is fine
Is slammed adjustable would be great so that the bar isn’t always loaded
solowerks spotted ;D
now that you've had it on for a few months, would you recommend it as an upgrade? i've been elbows deep on the suspension on my B4 A4 over the last few weeks and am now looking at this as an upgrade. Cheers for the great channel by the way. Love what you're doing.
Thank you!! And I would 10000% recommend it. It is by far the most fun suspension mod I’ve done on this platform, suspension included.
Awesome mate. Thanks for the advice. I’ll pick one up sooner than later. Looking forward to the goodness. Thanks for putting the effort into a great channel. I’m loving my B5 A4, and your channel is a great source of B5 inspiration.
Any opinions on upgrading the front sway bar links? The rear with the reinforcement seems like a no-brainer from what I've found. (budget daily build)
I would recommend Myle HD links up front as well. Although depending on the balance you want I would leave the front bar stock
Now that you have driven through the winter, did you experience any lift-off oversteer on snow or ice?
Car was down all winter with the vr6 swap so I didn’t get any snow fun
Do you like the 034 more than the Hotchkis? Just curious on what people's thoughts are on the two, I thought the Hotchkis was a stiffer sway bar but it's hollow I think, so idk just curious on what your thoughts are
Can’t say I like the 043 bar more because I’ve never had the hotchkis to compare it to. But the 034 bar is definitely stiffer than the hotchkis bar.
How much did this run you? (Ballparks are cool too).
Runs 5 to 6 hundred for everything
Funny how it seems like many tasks on the B5 S4 require a "special tool." I get tired of going back and forth to the stores for tools. Surprised that a "special tool" is not required to fill up the gas tank! Lol.
Also, did you or are you going to replace the front sway bar?
Hahaha yeah this car will do that to you. That’s why labor costs are so high.
And no I’m going to leave my front seat bar stock. But I did upgrade front endlinks and bushings for the sway bar
@@CIPGAS Out of curiosity, is there no advantage to doing the front sway bar? My car is my daily drive so is currently stock but I am researching suspension upgrades. Still contemplating fixing the heater core myself.
@@jerryreid813 034 bar designed to be used with stock front. Stiffer front = more under steer
@@jerryreid813 Hi Jerry, it's true, on zero threefours website they explain why a front bar is not helpful. Basically your car will still tend to push/plow through a corner with a stiffer front bar.
Hey what suspension do you have?
Solowerks
I'm curious how similar the suspension setup for the b5 S4 is to the b5 A4, and if I could just use S4 parts on my A4. Any knowledge about that?
They are almost identical as long as you have a Quattro car.
