Finally Installing A Short Shifter in the B5 S4!

- Hey Everyone,
Today we are working on the s4 and finally installing something that’s been long overdue. I've always liked the shift feel of this car, but recently it's been getting notchy and not in a good way. I figure the only natural next step is to investigate and see if it's worth upgrading to something billet. We also set some time aside to improve the fitment in the front of the car.

I don't usually comment, but what a great channel and video style! I have a B5 A4 and this channel is helping and inspiring me for the car journey. Watching the video just gave me a sense of calmness in my life and enjoyment. Great work!! I am going to look at this comment 1 year after when this channel reaches at least a million subscribers! Man I'm in the same boat! last upcoming major fix for me: install steering rack repair kit and that will hopefully get rid of an annoying power steering fluid leak. this channel and other B5 accounts on IG keep me motivated :)

I'll keep saying it! Watching your b5 content feels like I'm watching a b5 tv series lol. The style of your videos is just so refreshing to watch with all the effort you put into each video! The short shifter in my b5 s4 is definitely my favorite mod I've done. I have the JHM trio kit and it's completely enhanced the driving experience, also a fun installation imo

I commented on one of your TT videos about the JHM and you mentioned you ordered one before but it didn't show up (same here). I ended up ordering directly from JHM. Fully agree that the feel of the shift is much more important than the shortness. Well done yet again...

Yeahhhh. That's is true that I did order one of these when I first bought the car. I got it from a different supplier though and it got lost in shipping😅 so I just didn't choose to risk it again until now lol

its been a pleasure watching these videos as i recently bought an audi a4 b5 so most the stuff is the same and very helpfull!
I just fixed my sloppy A4 B5.5, five-speed manual shifter... I cleaned the ball and cup and regreased it. I then TIGHTENED two medium sized tie wraps side by side around the cup. (The ball cup is slotted). This decreased the cup ID and eliminating the shifter slop. Cheap, easy and effective. Works great, 20 cents invested.
You should get your lcd redone next. I just got a custom mfd screen done on my b5 by Cluster Modz. I think you would like it a lot.

What are the conditions of the info screens on the TT and S4 ? I'll be tackling that job on my MK1 TT soon enough.

I mean seriously, we're basically in great 90s movies territory now. Snatch and the like. Crazy to see a car guy that involved in filmmaking. Very nice niche, I'm in! Maybe one day you'll make a spiritual successor to Ronin! Then I'm even in with money maybe as an investor or the like
I am a huge sucker for 90s cinema so that means alot to me. I love Ronin haha. What an awesome film! I could make a very compelling argument about De Niro being one of the best actors of all time!
@@HunterDirection I totally feel you. 22 bullets, Ronin, the first Transporter, Go Fast, they have such a nice cinematography and let you feel much more immersed in the scene. Slower scenes, more time to enjoy the details and the effect something has on you, they are nicer, less bullshit, less dumb and more detailed. A great era of movies. Just think Schindler's List, The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption which basically (not) arguably are the three greatest movies ever made. Especially Luc Besson did his part in the car centered movies. Don't know if Sicario was from the 90s, but immensely well done movie. Departed, Fight Club, Oceans 11, the Italian job remake number three...The list is long
You should get the cooler worxs shifter along with the Jhm solid it’s really sick. Then you should get your lcd screen replaced. Then you should get your center drive shaft bearing replaced

So from what I understand, in order to get a really good feeling in an 01E or 01A transmission, you cant just upgrade the shifter, you have to upgrade every part of the linkage. Then and only then will you get that bolt action rifle feeling you are looking for.

All of your cars would look way cooler with the window guards, I absolutely love how they look on my B5A4, 2-Dr XJ, and my Mirage Black edition. Simple, cheap, definitely nice to have when you don’t want rain or wind going in your car but want the windows cracked.
