- Hey Everyone,
Today we are taking a huge step with the old ford. Last episode we got it running and in this one we are going to attempt a first drive. Before we take off, I'd like to make it a bit more livable and sort some issues though.

I live in the same state as you. Used to live in same city. My 1970 F100 had collector plates for the better part of a decade before I sold it. I used it for everything. Haul wood, plywood, lumber, help friends move, soil and bark for my yard. Never saw any trouble doing it.
@@JesseHires That's really awesome to know lol. I figured it wasn't enforced because I've seen a ton of classic trucks with stuff in the bed... but hearing it was a rule caught me a little off guard 😂
These videos feel so well put together, you're almost like the Quentin tarantino of the automotive RUclips world.
😂
Keep them coming, absolutely love it
Haha you're too kind. I still have a ton to learn. Thank you immensely for the support!
Man, I love the look of this truck. The Dentside Fords are easily my favourite of any pickup.
One would think its impossible to find unique car related content these days - glad you proof otherwise. Fantastic content and style. Keep it up, numbers are coming!
Ive never been big into trucks but man these old trucks are so sick
This truck is making me enjoy them a lot more haha
The most cinematic car repair/restore channel on YT. Bravo
If you haven't come across LMC truck yet.. its the fcp euro of old domestic trucks. They have pretty much everything. Bronco Graveyard was also very useful when I had my 79 F150.
Your experience with the truck was about same as mine. Its more equipment than it is vehicle and that's what's so fun about it. Enjoy!
I'm stoked you mentioned them. I didn't know if they were legit or not but that's awesome to know!
I gotta be honest, you're videos are so beautifully and artfully shot that seeing you candidly? In real time? at 16:10 was a really fun difference! In the "feel" of the shot, even though the way it looked was just as good as all your others
2:11 i see what you did. You are becoming too good. Awesome as always, i am starting to check notifications often for your videos. That is new for me :D
Hey thank you! I seriously appreciate that haha. I've got so much to learn still
Started watching your channel due to the E30 and Stayed for the amazing cinematography! Keep up the great videos!
Hey thank you for the support! More E30 stuff next week! I've still got so much prep to do lol
Finally had a chance to catch up on the latest video! Amazing work, as always. You are probably my favorite creator on RUclips right now, these are always SO WELL DONE.
You may know already but I'll mention it anyways - oil that thin on a carburated engine is usually the result of gas leaking from the carb into the engine and then past the rings into the oil. Been enjoying your videos latley, I have no idea how you get such well edited videos out so fast!
I love your videos of course and the humour! This truck is a hoot! You are going to absolutely love it as you progress with the upgrades!
Like always your videos are a joy to watch! 😁 Keep up the good work!
Thank you a ton for the support!
Breaking the law! Breaking the law!
Lmfao right😂 makes me wonder if that tool box in the bed is legal or not now
You wouldn't believe it but diesel engine oil for big rigs is actually really good for old engines that dont have a catalytic converter. The additive package in diesel engine oil is better than top of the line racing oils. And its cheap! It has better shear strength, film strength, stops any oil leaks. And the abundance of ZDDP keeps all the lifters and bearings nice and quiet. It also cleans really well too! Get that next time youll actually feel the difference
Also you can take any carb cleaner that foams and FILL THE LIVING FUGG out of the carb. And let it sit over night and start the car next day. It'll idle HEAPS better and start better too
That's super awesome advice! Love little tidbits like that!
The old west theme for the truck is perfect. Glad it’s come together. Keep rocking bud.
Your description of your drive really makes me miss my 1977 Toyota Pickup. Fun video
Nice video as always, looking forward to your videos every week
Thank you a ton!
Just some tips you might not know. I've got a 76 and it calls for type f automatic transmission fluid for power steering fluid. I've heard using regular power steering fluid will make them squeal. Old engines with flat tappet lifters need oil with higher zinc levels than what common engine oils have now
Thanks. Fun episode.
Honey, wake up, Hunter just dropped a new movie 😊
@@ilyakosterin8368 give it a couple weeks and that will be true if I can pull off my plan for the October horror special 😂
Great progress, great video 👌😄
You always make my Saturdays
That means a lot to me!
16:09 🙌🏽
Nice one, Mr Direction! The truck is really cool, hope you find a way you can use it.
@@geoffsnail3982 yeah it's really nice for what it is! Not being able to use it as a truck is a little lame though
Yay it’s Saturday!
Love it
Man whens this channel gonna blow up
Haha I'd much prefer consistent growth than blowing up overnight😂 gives me time to make my episodes better haha
Great Saturday morning with coffee and your videos. If you really like the truck than maybe you can registered as a no classic. But if truck is going to requiere so many things and time and money just for been decorative then maybe is best to get a newer model
Yeah it's a very interesting situation. It's worth enough that if I registered it as a normal truck it would actually cost more than just buying a beater that's worth less and keeping both lol
👍🏼👍🏼
What's the difference per mo or per yr in classic vs. normal ins?
@@Sam-xt1zk it's a pretty big difference. Almost 100 bucks a month last I checked. I would also have to get the registration changed from being a classic title to a standard car again which has its own process and cost
@@HunterDirection Dang, yeah, that's not worth it vs. renting a uhaul pickup. Classic ins had too many restrictions for it to be worth getting for my E30 when I had it. It's unfortunate. It would be fun to see your wagon tow, just saying :)
What state are you in that has this classic rule?
@@mahreeohhhh Washington state
All of my trucks are able to be registered as classic but I only have 1 registered that way specifically so i can use them. They should've warned you when you registered it as a classic. You're also not supposed to drive them over a certain amount of miles a year and only for test drives and to and from events. You really should pull up the dol website to read the rules on the plates.
I'm also in washington, with 2 vehicles registered as classic out of 17 total. Going to switch over 2 of the others when they are driveable as well since they will be cars not trucks. Wsp probably care more about the rules than your specific city/county cops will
@@fantomhobo yep that makes total sense. I've got another classic and I figured the mileage limits applied. But when I registered they didn't mention the towing or and bed part. Makes total sense with how cheap the insurance is though. I've got a plan in mind haha
@@fantomhobo I'm starting to think that it's a little too nice and too low of mileage to be using to haul dirt and stuff anyways. It almost rather just get a beater truck for stuff like that and clean this one up 😅
@HunterDirection I'll agree it's too nice to use as a beater, and probably suck a little too much has, mid 90s would probably work better as a shop/work truck for you. If i ever get my late 70s chevy on the road again it's rough enough to just keep using as a truck.
❤🥰👍🏿🍻
Almost tought no upload this week. 😅
@@FrancoisProjects nope I was just driving and try not to use my phone haha
@HunterDirection Thanks. Seems like , u have yard ornament, if u can't load anything... 🤣
@@FrancoisProjects yeah I was pretty shocked to hear that 😂 definitely strange.
So what direction are you hunting for next?🤣
That’s very crappy that they would make it so you can’t even use the bed for hauling stuff from the hardware store.
@@DustySteel yeah it's definitely a downside to the classic title. But only a couple bucks a month to insure and not having to pay registration ever again is the upside. So even if I really don't drive it very much it costs hardly anything to own at least😅
@@HunterDirection what about a bed cover for stealth missions?🤣
@@DustySteel lol That would be glorious 😂
