    So I commented on the video where she first bleached her hair I commented “in a year we would be here because I been there, went through the same process.” Yes hair will grow but take this as a cautionary tale. She obviously has very strong high density hair and though to the untrained eye it may appear very full and healthy, to someone with experience she has lost at least 30% of the density. Yes color is fun snd beautiful but if you value your hair health and have length goals I highly advise against it. Enjoy your hair journey.

      What’s key is correcting porosity and using conditioner with binding agents. I bleach my hair with 20vol twice a year and do Aphogee 2 step and keratin treatments every month and my hair is dense and healthy. I trim every 3 months, with very little damage.

      I saw your original post and liked it because I’ve lived through it! Had my hair color lifted and toned .. went back for root touch and immediately noticed a difference in the texture. About 6-12 months later the breakage began!!!!! It’s been a long journey for me to get back to healthy hair. Dyers beware!

    I HOPE THIS HELPS FOR ALL THOSE CONSIDERING THE FUN WORLD OF HAIR DYE/BLEACH
    as someone who has bleached their hair over 10 times and dyed it more times than I can recall here is what I would say (btw my hair was at 14inchs when I first bleached it I have medium density)
    1. the lighter you go the thinner the hair gets this is because the sun dries out the hair follicles and when your hair is lighter it attracts the sun more making your hair brittle and can also cause it to break off giving the appearance of damage or thinner hair. ( hence when she mentioned that the orange maintained more thickness than the blonde that is because the orange was much darker )
    2. You are able to maintain curls while bleaching however the more you use bleach the looser your curl pattern will get.
    3. Bleaching your hair will change how your hair feels as well many of us hair dye/ bleach girls are already aware of the texture and roughness that comes with long term bleached hair.
    4. If you are a curly girl your products will have to sometimes readjust to the condition your hair is in after bleach meaning you may not be able to get the same results with those past products that worked on the healthiest version of your hair. Bleach requires a lot of conditioning and moisturizing especially durning the summertime as the sun acts as a natural hair lifter and will change the shade of your blonde all while drying out your hair especially if it is in a manipulated state.
    5. lastly the longer you allow your healthy roots to grow you will notice that your pre died hair in comparison to you bleached ends do not match which usually creates a recipe for a big chop. This in when the realization comes in at just how much tour hair truly has changed after dying it. ( Do what you will with this information)
    I just want to say that bleaching/ dying your hair can be a really fun experience as long as you are okay with the consequences that follow. The being said enjoy yourselves lol And this was really sweet that she filmed an honest update for everyone. Great video!

    • @Truechildofgod
      @Truechildofgod Год назад +3

      @@devyngreen4319 Yeah bleach and dye although similar in description they are very different. Hair dye can lift the hair or darken it only to a certain degree but bleach is made for the sole purpose of lightning your hair by using drastic ingredients to do so. I am unsure what stage you are in , in your hair journey but I do have a couple of suggestions that can help
      A. dye your hair a darker color and keep it moisturized after the hair has been processed by bleach it can not be nursed back to the same condition of health it once was However dying hair dark not only makes it appear thicker but it also makes the hair stronger and serves as a protection providing less breakage due to sun exposure on lighter strands.
      0r
      B. Slowly trim your bleached / colored hair to prevent more breakage . Avoid hairstyles that encourage breakage ( This means no braids as the hair is already sensitive)
      or
      C. Grow out your roots for as long as you can stand it then big chop the rest

      @@Truechildofgod that’s what I’m doing now but I’m so disappointed I have to start over. I did a big chop in 2020 and my hair was flourishing, growing so beautifully just to mess it up and take 10 steps back 😩

      @@devyngreen4319 I know what you mean but at least we learned the lesson and now we have a whole new appreciation for our virgin hair lol just this time choose carefully what chemicals or lack of chemicals you choose to use on it. You got this girl and I know it is growing back stronger and will reach the length you are seeking long as you set time aside to take care of it. I have found that my hair grows when I only use conditioner to wash and stay away from gels. I know a lot of people like to shampoo but that should only be used to take away product buildup. I also stopped using growth oils this is because I have a senstive scalp so everyone is different but my hair on its own produces a lot of oil for my new growth and I have found my hair grows much quicker without washing it so much. I don't avoid water on my hair but when I say "wash" I mean shampooing

    To answer why the orange is healthier than the blonde, the orange is a color deposit which made that bleached hair less porous and less fragile. Blonde hair in its own becomes brittle because the follicle is stressed. It also won’t hold on to protein as well because of the structural damage. Still very beautiful and so are you. Good luck on your recovery journey.😅

    Love this video, I wanted to chime in with 17 years worth of hair coloring experience.
    One of the main reasons the blonde piece is breaking more is because that blonde is a raw blonde with no tone, compared to the rest of the hair that has a copper tone, the copper toned hair is full where the blonde money piece is hallowed and more susceptible to breakage.
    Second the process of growing out bleached hair to natural hair is a long one. And can be prone to more breakage since the spot where the previously bleached hair meets the growing, strong, virgin hair creates a weak point.
    K-18 and Olaplex are great but you want to use them sparingly since the damage from multiple bleaching sessions had already been done.
    Bleach removes pigment and protein from hair, bleach is a enzyme that eats the hair which creates the blonding effect.
    What's most important in the journey back to natural color is a positive attitude which you definitely have and patience with the passing of time, it will grow.
    Definitely enjoyed this video, loved the self awareness, and accountability.🌟🙌🏾🌟

I was just bored of spending so much time looking after it but not feeling amazing about it. I plan to cut a lot of it off. Since I got it coloured 2 weeks ago, I'm obsessively in love again. It's still high maintenence but now I am obsessed enough to not mind the maintenance. I have ultra-fine, ultra-dry, high porosity hair with a sensitive scalp. I have to apply a protein leave in mist daily and a moisture mist daily. I have to shampoo and deep condition weekly. I also steam my hair daily. I don’t know about this one Jaelen. Yes, I agree that bleaching one’s hair can be damaging but I also think it the responsibility of the stylist(s) to either do or not do what is “right” to maintain the integrity of the hair. My hair is bleached but my stylist only does what is best for my hair. She advised me as to when it would be safe to color my hair again and what to do for maintenance in between that time. Now, if he or she gave you sound advice and you ignored it, that’s on you but it almost seems as if you are taking full responsibility when I don’t think you should and also giving a false perception that, “bleach is bad so stay away.” Can we agree that too much of anything is never good and that it was the frequency that became the issue!!?

    • @Sam-cr1nu
      @Sam-cr1nu Год назад +8

      She did mention she double bleached her hair or is it triple?? She also said she would bleach her hair again so she's not saying bleaching is bad stay away she just said doing it too often is not good which I think you also agreed on. It sounds like you both saying the same thing, I think she was just trying to be transparent whilst also not being negative also maybe she didn't mention the stylist cause she agreed to the colour service knowing the risks she was taking.

      Hi. If you don't mind me asking, how often do you bleach/color your hair?
      I just got mine colored auburn. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. But I'm worried now because I grow gray hair, and I don't want my gray roots to be growing out while the rest of my hair is auburn. But I also don't want to be retouching up my roots every 6 weeks for fear of damage. Maybe I'll just use a semi permanent on my roots while the color grows out. 🤔

    • @iwilson3950
      @iwilson3950 9 месяцев назад

      @@stephanies3862 I don’t bleach mine on a set schedule, part of the reason is that my grey grow-out is not too heavy. Despite this, my hair tends to grow-out pretty fast, so within approximately 3-4 months, I could do a root touch-up if I wanted. I will probably get a root touch-up within 4-6 months this go around only because I’m searching for a great colorist that uses a specific product line. I suggest that you consult with a professional colorist to determine a schedule that is tailored to your needs. In between coloring sessions, I take excellent care of my hair. I use k18 products, I give my hair lots of moisture, I style in (low manipulation) WnG 99% of the time, etc. so I could easily color more frequently w/o the worry of really damaging my hair. Hope some of what I shared helps.

I'm hair was breaking close to the roots and coming out in clumps. Luckily i also have dense hair. I didn't go to a curly hair specialist to dye my hair, but the the stylist was amazed with color. I usually straightened my hair for her for touch ups, but unfortunately this time i did not and I'm suspicious that the lightening was over processed and that's what caused the breakage. U blessed girl, you still have hair! The first time i used bleach, I paid $600+ at some bougie salon DT. I got honey blonde highlights on 50% of my hair. As soon as i came home my sis said the ends look like an old broom 😂. 2 months later i big chopped it all off… I had no choice. It was 1 inch in some areas and armpit length in others lol. Picture that skinny creature from lord of the rings or sum.😅 How DF u still have hair ?😮 That’s low key an accomplishment cuz i would have been soooo bald with that much bleach/dye.

      I have honey blond highlights on fragile hair. I lost some hair but that's due to my genetics. How to keep it on my head? Moisturise twice daily, Deep condition weekly with heat for 30 minutes. Olaplex no. 3 every week in my deep conditioner which my stylist recommended. And keeping my hair wrapped in silk or satin 5 days out of 7. I use the entire Aphogee line as directed by their instructions. Daily restructuriser, fortnightly 2-minute conditioner and 4-6 weekly 2 step treatment. keeping my hair covered from UV rays. Trims every 12 weeks. You cannot be lazy with bleach, lightener or developer. It's been 6 months since my bleached highlights and I have no intention of big chopping. Protective styling and wigs from September 2023 until May 2024. I also have no intention of having colour again for 12 months. My hair is too fragile for multiple chemical processes a year. one and done.

    Girl ur literally me but without locs, I’m surprised I still have hair on my head, however I regret going to blue/black, I had to bleach wash 4 times to get it off and that’s what killed my hair and it barely grew after that. I did that twice 3 years that I’ve had my locs :( Redken didn’t help at all and I’m scared to invest in olaplex. I’m just gonna stick to my blonde and orange look.

    9:23 😂i thought it was just me thinking about the thinning that happens but I've gotten my hair dyed twice with red hombre to blonde first time then second time i just slapped a red color on top of the blonde but my hair strands are normal with medium density and high porosity but when i did hombre color the blonde parts were thin i guess because of how weather reacts with direct blonde and i had to cut a bit of hair myself and then when i just got blonde with color on top which is current hair then my hair not thinning and growing longer i don't know what it is but blonde by itself acts weird🤦🏻‍♀️ and i love your hair color even the fade is cute

    I'm watching this backwards. Lol! Came from your Wella ginger video. Lol! Yeah I'm on that Aphogee and Olaplex bleach life...and my hair is more fragile and shorter than yours...Mysteriously my hair is growing back/out faster than I expected. Lol! I'm not bald no mo....lol. I have my sides bald into a mohawk in June. Yeah no way I'm double chemical processing/bleaching....My hair would never tolerate that and I think my stylist who is the only person besides my trichologists who touches my hair would slap me silly if I tried to get him to bleach my hair twice ....lol! He does not play and refuses to do anything that he thinks is damaging...yup he saves my hair from me. My trichologists do not even believe in bleach or styling products. 😅 They got upset when I said I was going to bleach my hair. lol! I told them I needed a change for my mental health otherwise I was going to shave it all. Then they allowed me. lol! Yeah gave myself an anxiety attack on the day of the bleaching. my stylist had to do a lot of handholding. lol!

    I think ruined is a little dramatic, unless you're saying that for people who hate to see someone color their hair.🤷‍♀ You've been using color for a long time and your hair broke off a bit at the ends. It's just a choice to have fun with your hair and accept whatever loss might come as a result of that. Your hair did very well compared to what happens to many who color even just once. It's great to grow it back to full healthy virgin hair and start all over again with color if you wish. Do you, and have fun!🥰 Hair will always grow back as long as you're healthy.💜

    What happened to you happened to me exactly, except my hair was not as long as yours was. Those few inches that needed to be cut gave me a look that felt like a big chop to me. I may consider highlights in the future, or balayage, but I'm going to enjoy virgin hair for a while. I never want to have a chop like that again. Best of luck on your recovery journey! We'll be doing it together 😅

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 9 месяцев назад

      Um.....I don't do touch-ups lol! My hair cannot be double-processed. I'd be bald bald and I need at least an inch of hair for winter to keep my head warm and attach my wigs. lol!
