Panama is an immigration country from its creation. China has one fifth of the world's total population, so 5% of Panama population are of Chinese descendants does not look over represented.
That's the case if the world's population is in a complete, perfect mixing.
We all know there are frictions for immigration.
Most people would hesitate to move abroad, especially when the destination is somewhere central America.

The difference between US and China:
- China brought infrastructure projects that is worth tens of millions of dollar and a generous trade deal to Panama during their visit.
- US brought warships and soldiers when they visited Panama. All US did was to warn Panama to stay far from China or risk getting sanctioned by US.
They brought the people to America & killing the indigenous

There will be more room for engagement, consensus and cooperation between both sides in the years and decades to come like other Latin American countries which established ties with mainland China decades before.

And by the millions, Spanish and Portuguese colonists settled the land as well as smaller waves of Sephardic Jews among them. Later on, Italian, Lebanese, Syrian, Chinese, German, Palestinian, Japanese, French and Eastern European immigrants arrived to the various countries of Latin America after they became independent.
And all of that is on top of our Indigenous heritage, which is extremely diverse in and of itself. The Spanish and Portuguese Empires were the original melting pots.

Yup, it was built by people from my village, Huadu district on the outskirt of Guangzhou in southern china. 80% of the Chinese population in Panama originated from my village. In our ancestral booklet, quite a few went to build the Panama Canal.

USA and Panamá have a close relationship. For obvius reasons; US allow our independence, built the first interoceanic railway, the first canal, the first brige to link both saparated lands of our country and allow us to use the US Dollar currency since 1904. Also many sencibility Canal trades between our countries, things like neutrality, traffic, merch, security by US and more.
So basically we are in the middle of comercial war between USA and China.

Well china's has not invested in Panama as it has done in other latin American countries eventhought there is a large Chinese population in the country,Panamá and china have just recently been formally doing business for most of the millennium Panamá did business with Taiwan however back in 2017 they renounced to acknowledge Taiwan's independence and froze relations with Taiwan to be able to start with China, China will never be able to fully influence Panamá since the country is very independent on its own economic and the USA depends on the canal functions, China is just a passing cloud in the Panamanian sky if anything the only things they have help Panamá with is the new bridge over the canal and even that Panama has fully invested their on money on it china is just helping with the logistic. Panamá dance at its own rhythm.
