Democracy is not good or bad by itself. It's merely a means to an end. All people want to eat better, live better, be better. If Democracy achieves that end, it's good, if not, it's bad. A case may be made for the ends to justify the means, but means can never justify the ends. Before Libya's color revolution, they had universal healthcare, universal free college education, and free housing upon marriage. After Libya had democracy, their people's social welfare is gone, their living standard dropped, their life expectancy dropped. In this case, Democracy is, in fact, evil, because it achieved an evil end. If you think of Democracy as good, even in cases where it decrease people's life expectancy, it's a sign that you've been brainwashed, and need to make a conscious effort to undo your indoctrination. Gaddhafi's dictatorship that brought universal healthcare, free college, free housing, higher life expectancy to Libya, an African nation, is, objectively speaking, better than the democracy that replaced it. This is an objective truth that debunks the subjective bias we've been brainwashed with since childhood.

As Argentinian I can say that China presence here is do to the US favouring UK relationships down in the Atlantic. The UK doesn't want investments to come to Argentina so they pressure the US not to invest here in anything. I remember that China offered to build and invest on a sea port in our province of Tierra del Fuego so our ships could travel easier our goods, the ambassador of the US along side the female general came all the way down here to order our Governor to say "no" to China, so he ask them and offer the US to invest on the infrastructure and they responded that "the US isn't interested in that project and we don't want to ruin our relationship with the UK our closest ally" so there you all go. China wins.

It may be difficult to believe, but China's one party state essentially has to *represent all* 100% of Chinese interests (or at least 80-90%) because there is no other party to blame for any mistake. Whereas the U.S's two party state only has *partial representation* by either the Democrats or the Republicans who represent maybe around 51% of American's interests? (P.S Some believe the real figure is actually just 1% of American's interests, if you know what I mean.)

I dont think that will change anything. People call it America simply because it's the name. The same way we call Mexico even though it's technically the United Mexican States. I think the problem is that people fail to see context, which is more of an individual problem. Many people also differentiate the two by calling the continents "the Americas" or "Las Americas". What you're saying is completely minor and irrelevant to the actual problem and relationship dynamic.

    I b0rrowed this from a Malaysian Y0uTuber’s c0mment:
I’m from Malaysia. CHlNA has traded with Malaysia for 2000 years. In those years, they had been the world’s biggest powers many times. Never once they sent troops to take our l4nd. Admiral Zhenghe came to Malacca five times, in gigantic fleets, and a flagship eight times the size of Christopher Columbus’ flagship, Santa Maria. He could have seized Malacca easily, but he did not. In 1511, the Portuguese came. In 1642, the Dutch came. In the 18th century the British came. We were colonised by each, one after another.
When CHlNA wanted spices from India, they traded with the Indians. When they wanted gems, they traded with the Persian. They didn’t take lands. The only time CHlNA expanded beyond their current borders was in Yuan Dynasty, when Genghis and his descendants Ogedei Khan, Guyuk Khan & Kublai Khan concurred CHlNA, Mid Asia and Eastern Europe. Yuan Dynasty, although being based in CHlNA, was a part of the Mongolian Empire.
Then came the Century of Humiliation. Britain smuggled opium into CHlNA to dope the population, a strategy to turn the trade deficit around, after the British could not find enough silver to pay the Qing Dynasty in their tea and porcelain trades. After the opium warehouses were burned down and ports were closed by the Chinese in ordered to curb opium, the British started the Opium War I, which CHlNA lost. Hong Kong was forced to be surrendered to the British in a peace talk (Nanjing Treaty). The British owned 90% of the opium market in CHlNA, during that time, Queen Victoria was the world’s biggest drug baron. The remaining 10% was owned by American merchants from Boston. Many of Boston’s institutions were built with profit from opium.
After 12 years of Nanjing Treaty, the West started getting really really greedy. The British wanted the Qing government:
    1. To open the borders of CHlNA to allow goods coming in and out freely, and tax free.
    2. Make opium legal in CHlNA.
Insane requests, Qing government said no. The British and French (with supports from the US), started Opium War II with CHlNA, which again, CHlNA lost. The Anglo-French military raided the Summer Palace, and threatened to burn down the Imperial Palace, the Qing government was forced to pay with ports, free business zones, 300,000 kilograms of silver and Kowloon was taken. Since then, CHlNA’s resources flew out freely through these business zones and ports. In the subsequent amendment to the treaties, Chinese people were sold overseas to serve as labor.
In 1900, CHlNA suffered attacks by the 8-National Alliance (Empire of Japan, Russian Empire, British Empire (including India), France, USA, Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary). Innocent Chinese civilians in Peking (Beijing now) were murdered, buildings were destroyed & women were r4ped. The Imperial Palace was raided, and treasures ended up in museums like the British Museum in London and the Louvre in Paris.
In late 1930s CHlNA was occupied by the Japanese in WWII. Millions of Chinese died during the occupancy. 300,000 Chinese died in Nanjing Massacre alone.
Mao brought CHlNA together again from the shambles. There were peace and unity for some time. But Mao’s later reign saw sufferings and deaths from famine and power struggles.
Then came Deng Xiao Ping and his infamous 'bl4ck-cat and wh1te-cat' story. His preference in pragmatism than ideologies has transformed CHlNA. This thinking allowed CHlNA to evolve all the time to adapt to the actual needs in the country, instead of rigidly bounded to ideologies. It also signified the death of Communism in actually practice in CHlNA. The current Socialism+Meritocracy+Market Economy model fits the Chinese like gloves, and it propels the uprise of CHlNA. Singapore has a similar model, and has been arguably more successful than Hong Kong, because Hong Kong being gateway to CHlNA, was riding on the economic boom in CHlNA, while Singapore had no one to gain from.
In just 30 years, the CPC have moved 800 millions of people out from poverty. The rate of growth is unprecedented in human history. They have built the biggest mobile network, by far the biggest high speed rail network in the world, and they have become a behemoth in infrastructure. They made a fishing village called Shenzhen into the world’s second largest technological centre after the Silicon Valley. They are growing into a technological power house. It has the most elaborate e-commerce and cashless payment system in the world. They have launched exploration to Mars. The Chinese are living a go0d life and CHlNA has become one of the safest countries in the world. The level of patriotism in the country has reached an unprecedented height.
For all of the achievements, the West has nothing g0od to say about it. CHlNA suffers from intense ant1-CHlNA pr0pagandas from the West. Western Media used the keyword “Communist” to instil fear and hatred towards CHlNA.
Everything CHlNA does is negatively reported.
They claimed CHlNA used slave labor in making iPhones. The truth was, Apple was the most profitable company in the world, it took most of the profit, leave some to Foxconn (a Taiwanese company) and little to the labor.
They claimed CHlNA was inhuman with one-child policy. At the same time, they accused CHlNA of polluting the earth with its huge population. The fact is the Chinese consume just 30% of energy per capita compared to the US.
They claimed CHlNA underwent ethnic cleansing in Xinjiang. The fact is CHlNA has a policy which priorities ethnic minorities. For a long time, the ethnic minorities were allowed to have two children and the majority Han only allowed one. The minorities are allowed a lower score for university intakes. There are 39,000 mosque in CHlNA, and 2100 in the US. CHlNA has about 3 times more mosque per musl1m than the US.
When terrorist attacks happened in Xinjiang, CHlNA had two choices:
    1. Re-educate the Uighur (CENS0RED by RUclips) before they turned (CENS0RED by RUclips).
    2. Let them be, after they launch attacks and killed innocent people, bomb their homes.
CHlNA chose 1 to solve problem from the root and not to do killing. How the US solve terrorism? Fire missiles from battleships, drop bombs from the sky.
    During the pandemic,
When CHlNA took extreme measures to lockdown the people, they were accused of being inhuman.
When CHlNA recovered swiftly because of the extreme measures, they were accused of lying about the actual numbers.
When CHlNA’s cases became so low that they could provide medical support to other countries, they were accused of politically motivated.
Western Media always have reasons to bash CHlNA.
Just like any country, there are irresponsible individuals from CHlNA which do b4d things, but the CHlNA government overall has done very well. But I hear this comment over and over by people from the West: I like Chinese people, but the CPC is evil. What they really want is the Chinese to change the government, because the current one is too g0od.
Fortunately CHlNA is not a multi-party democratic country, otherwise the opposition party in CHlNA will be supported by notorious NGOs (Non-Government Organization) of the USA, like the NED (National Endowment for Democracy), to topple the ruling party. The US and the British couldn’t crack Mainland CHlNA, so they work on Hong Kong. Of all the ex-British colonial countries, only the Hong Kongers were offered BNOs by the British. Because the UK would like the Hong Kongers to think they are British citizens, not Chinese. A divide-and-conquer strategy, which they often used in Color Revolutions around the world.
They resort to low d*rty tricks like detaining Huawei’s CFO & banning Huawei. They raised a silly trade war which benefits no one. Trade deficit always exist between a developing and a developed country. USA is like a luxury car seller who ask a farmer: why am I always buying your vegetables and you haven’t bought any of my cars?
When the Chinese were making socks for the world 30 years ago, the world let it be. But when Chinese started to make high technology products, like Huawei and DJI, it caused red-4lert. Because when Western and Japanese products are equal to Chinese in technologies, they could never match the Chinese in prices. First world countries want CHlNA to continue in making socks. Instead of stepping up themselves, they want to pull CHlNA down.
The recent movement by the US against CHlNA has a very important background. When Libya, Iran, and CHlNA decided to ditch the US dollar in oil trades, Gaddafi’s was killed by the US, Iran was being sanctioned by the US, and now it’s CHlNA’s turn. The US has been printing money out of nothing. The only reason why the US Dollar is still widely accepted, is because it’s the only currency which oil is allowed to be traded with. The US has an agreement with Saudi that oil must be traded in US dollar ONLY. Without the petrol-dollar status, the US dollars will sink, and America will fall. Therefore anyone trying to disobey this order will be eliminated. CHlNA will soon use a gold-backed crypto-currency, the alarms in the White House go off like mad.
CHlNA’s achievement has been by hard work. Not by looting the world.
I have deep sympathy for CHlNA for all the suffering, but now I feel happy for them. CHlNA is not rising, they are going back to where they belong.
    G0od luck CHlNA.

Their respective goals are different, hence the different approaches. One seeks to enslave mankind not at all unlike it did in the recent past. The other seeks to avoid being enslaved by first strengthening those in a similar situation and standing together with them, if only for its own security. This is not a competition for influence. This is a defensive struggle against an evil race of humans (to be blunt), who are so impressed with themselves, they have gone mad.

These same Brazilians have accepted the US rhetoric and come to believe that Brazil's problem is China. Honestly, I believe that of the BRICS, Brazil is the least reliable, because the country is dominated by traitors who want to sell all our strategic companies, preferably to the US.
Maybe you already know that Brazil is about to find another gigantic oil reserve. The current president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, will have serious problems if this new reservation is confirmed, because the pirates (USA and United Kingdom) will do everything to destabilize our Brazil, with the intention of overthrowing President Lula and electing some puppet that sell our oil to foreign companies. Just thinking about that possibility already makes me feel discouraged.

I live in America and was born here but the one thing that really sticks out to me about America is that we claim to be tolerant of other people but we have incredibly supremacist views when it comes to the political-economic dimension. We think we are the end of history but we are just another ideology and another empire. We purposely ignore the fact that the US has arguably the best geography, natural resources, and consumed more energy than any empire in history. We think our ideology made us strong and therefore better than everyone else. We openly show contempt for every other country. It’s kinda insane how we can have so much cognitive dissonance about tolerance. Our leaders are so out of touch and our country is going down a dark path. If I could give a piece of advice to other countries I’d tell them to try and slowly ween themselves off trade with America.

The way how US senators refer to the region as:
"our hemisphere" "our backyard" or in Biden words: "our front yard"
that alone tells you how US government sees the rest of american countries, as inferior, weak, manipulative, puppet countries that either align with the US or become enemies of the US, only authoritarians think in absolutes, and makes many countries see china and russia as possible allies, after all they don't interfere with latin America's domestic affairs, and have not invaded Latin America militarily, like the Chinese proverb said: "it doesn't matter if the cat is black or white as long as it catches mice" China its about business not about political alignment.

The book is about avoiding military confrontation of USA and China. The paralells of what Cyrus has said in this excellent presentation about Latin America or the similar events in the Pacific and with China are obvious. The question is, when will Washington listen, probably not anytime soon because when the US is losing an economic war they turn it into a military war which historically has been a win, win for the US. South America, Central America, The Caribbean and Mexico need to be running their own independent summits which reflect all Latin people. As far as China is concerned, if the investments and the contractual agreements are fair and there is benefit for both parties without either of them losing control over their own nations and a level of respect, even with their differences, is upheld, then it's good.

I was going to comment but reading some of the comment written by some "good Americans" I decided not to. Let me quote some of the comments:
"Well get ready to learn Chinese buddy"
"We refer to you as “our back yard” only because you are litterally geographically speaking, our back yard. It’s not a pejorative. It’s a metaphor, because if the US was a house, your position to us would be, our back yard.
It’s just a turn if phrase to lend metaphor so it’s more relatable and able to be understood how grave the scenario is.
Not an insult and you should not be insulted by it. If you were referring to yourself we would be your front yard."
I gave to examples, the first one is outright ignorant and condescending the second one is paternalistic and condescending
You see, this is why they are choosing China.

You pointed directly to the objectives of America especially America goes to other countries not for helping their economies and infrastructure but for military gains purposes to either selling weapons or warships or figter jets and set the military base in those countries. In other hand, China approaches the less developed countries to help them with infrastructure and economies to gain the trust. This is a best strategy than aim to build the American military base in those countries.

People (average ordinary travelers and the like) have always tried to give a more empathetic lens to these countries and communities and were criticised heavily about their position on the perspective of some these 'global or multi national businesses' and their perspective when it came to how they treat the local population and their overall ESG score. In Argentina, up to 30.000 people went missing due to the will of keeping other ideology off their "backyard", one of many countries affected by Plan Condor to keep the Soviets out. Over 80.000 people confirmed killed or missing, according to surveys found in Paraguay. Almost two decades of repression and fear in the south cone.

The ColdWar was very unfortunate, and was quite destructive. The U.S.S.R. ( and China, to a lesser extent) did pose a significant threat
and required substantial resistance. The U.S.'s predilection for economic warfare - and regime change, and support for dictators - were
all questionable tactics, and cast a shadow on U.S. history.
I am stunned that US invaded Iraq on false pretenses, and then followed with attacks on Afghanistan, Libya and Syria. While I agree
that Ukraine ought not be a Russian vassal, I'm horrified that U.S. policy involved ignoring the Minsk II agreements, and Stoltenberg & Blinken insisting on having Ukraine join NATO. U.S. policy to Russia would be apt if Russia were still Communists intent on destroying

The problem is: in the last 4 or 5 years China has become our biggest comercial partner.
When the chinese government demonstrated its disconfort with the public opinions of Ernesto Araújo about China the brazilian government had no choice but let him go. The business people here demanded some response from the president.

And I don't see the USA doing anything to prevent that and regain it's position. Even the military - the most pro USA group in our society - are starting to move towards China. Imagine calling it "our hemisphere" and referring to Chinas trade deals with the american countries as "eating our lunch". Can you get any more imperialistic? Your hemisphere?
I'm pretty sure there's a lot of nations, (at least to the south of you), that would strongly disagree with such a statement. The hemisphere doesn't belong to USA. Also, "eating our lunch" sounds like a freudian slip that is casually admitting that the american continents is nothing more than sustenance for the USA. Absolutely awful lack of respect for other nations.
Also, this constant idea of calling latin american and caribbean countries the "backyard" of the US ... It's very patronizing and disrespectful. It's like they are not "real" countries. They don't get to live along the street, so they have to stay in our "backyard". You see the exact same with the smaller pacific countries, like the Solomon Islands. They are not treated as a fellow country but as the "backyard" of Australia. And predictably, the people of that nation are getting pretty tired of being treated like that.
Mia Mottley of Barbados was very clear in an interview with BBC how she felt about that characterization; pointing out that they are NEIGHBORS to the USA and should be treated as such. Smaller, yes, but no less a country than anyone else.
The main reason USA is losing its grip is because they have zero diplomatic tact and skill. They have a failing economy and less and less to offer. They have a very unsteady foreign policy that changes every 4 or 8 years, often 180 degrees. Something for example Iran has gotten extremely "done" with. Also, when all their "foreign aid" consists of arming rebel groups and building american military bases, while all the actual money never leaves the USA. They end up lining the pockets of Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and the rest of the ghoulish death merchants over there.
USA built up all its power abroad through force, or threats of force. The only reason they allied with western Europe after WW2 was to get a strategic beachhead against the Soviets. Not because they ever cared one bit about the well-being of the people in Europe. They've tried the same on all other continents, and for a while it worked. But now, there are other powers that can be much more beneficial do deal with. So why wouldn't they?
China only demands that you stay out of their internal affairs, and they'll stay out of yours. With that as a basis they'll trade with you and invest in all kinds of projects. And no, it's not a debt trap. This has been debunked by economic experts over and over, yet keeps repeated in a desperate attempt to smear China.
In the end, it's a VERY good deal for countries that have been bullied by USA for decades. It's the same thing in Africa where the nations still carry massive scars from western colonial times. Then in comes China and treats them like fellow nations instead of pawns. No wonder they sign onto BRI.
"our hemisphere" ... don't make me vomit.
(Edited for a typo that annoyed me, I meant to say all the "actual money" instead of "actualy money")
Edit: Thanks for all the likes and positive responses. Glad to see that more people reacted to this blatant show of "american exceptionalism" at its worst.

What the the US failed to mention is that the vast majority of the countries that China does business with approach China to do business with China, not the other way around. They saw the great results China has brought for its business partners and so they want to be a part of it. So all of these "China is seeking to put countries into debt traps and lure countries into its sphere of influence" accusations by the US is simply another lie made up by the anti-China propaganda machine known as the USA!
It's getting to the point where the US's entire foreign agenda is to sit back and watch what China is doing and then go in there to try to mess things up for China! The US has no strategy nor any good intention for other countries whatsoever when it comes to its foreign policies. Its entire strategy is to undo whatever China is doing with other countries with whatever force it takes to undo it! It's such a loser's mentality! I want to say the US is the Tonya Harding of international competition, but using Tonya Harding as an analogy for the US's shady ways is an insult to Tonya Harding since Tonya Harding doesn't do 1/1 billionth of the crimes that the US government does on a daily basis!
