Why can't the Japanese be the largest in the United States outside Japan, because Japanese really love American culture on TV, American movies and English heard in anime, I don't see any popularity of brazilian culture in Japanese mass media and brazil is not an English country that it doesn't make any sense and so many Japanese largely learn English, right?
Because America is the first to have the Japanese after the philipines and, before brazil, but since I love the Japanese people thinking there are more in the English speaking countries for a lot of them learning English and move to English countries, but Australia is the closest English country to Japan and I don't know why this didn't get millions so maybe this one should have millions in Australia today of this era, since it's too much money to go to another world of far away English countries like the United States and I"m not sure why Canada didn't get many Japanese and North America should be the largest Japanese ethnic strong presence in the world today of this era, not in latin america and even though peru almost has the largest, but has thousands, but I wouldn't mind there is a large strong ethnic presence majority of Chinese or Koreans in brazil if happened, but the Chinese were in brazil for 200 years and it should have millions by now, right?
It's a similar connection how italy has way more anime shows dubbed in italian mass media outside Japan same it's not fair to me that anime shows is not the largest in the English mass media outside Japan, even though there are thousands of Japanese in the west European countries, but no info of the numbers of them in east European countries, but I'm sad my heritage ancestry country don't show any numbers of the Japanese immigrants in Poland, but there are 3 millions of Polish living in brazil, but there are more Polish in the United States like 10 millions of them and secondly I was jealous of brazil for having more Japanese people then in North America and jealous of Italy having more anime dubbed when they are not part of the English world, I wish both cases happened in Poland like the Japanese population and the anime dubbing are both the largest instead italy's mass media and brazil's immigration happened on this world and I want to see more Japanese speak Polish then portuguese and more anime dubbed in Polish then italy, well, I do more think there should been more Japanese immigrants that always learn English as the second language only and more English dubbed anime in the entire English speaking world, not Italian on anime and not brazilian portuguese on the Japanese people, because italy and brazil is not a 6th or 7th countries as English speaking worlds after the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand!
For the reason I said about Poland is that the flags are both red and white do you know that?
Well, I know Canada, I live in Canada that it's flag is red and white, but the US and England flags all have blue with red and white, but brazil is like bla, the flag has like a grassy green background, yellow diamond shaped like it looks like a boring baseball field with a blue odd circle with outer space stars and on the white that it's like a white paper strip have words on them that I can't even read what it said at first unlike other countries, it seems so far I only seen a brazil flag has a non-English title on it is the only flag that has words on it in the world, but when I said boring baseball I know it was a soccer which boring for me as well, but I hate how I once saw back in 2012 I think I saw a Japan flag has the stars on the sun and a paper stripe too with a none-English words on it which is unbelievable, but it seems to be it's gone now and I hate it that I seen it at first sight, I want to see a mixed Poland and Japan flag together, but when I seen the crossed flags I seen the Poland and Japan flag matched together, but brazil with Japan is not, cus both are completely different colours, I have want to see a korea flag with brazil stars and a paper strap saying the 3 words on a circle of the balance circle the red and white colours are represented, because korea flag has a blue colour like brazil has looks like this c2.staticflickr.com/6/5489/31045641566_588c4b4f46_o.png and that c2.staticflickr.com/6/5697/31081399605_6a83830322_o.png with out red looks like what it's called korizal flag, haha,, unlike china the only way we see the china flag has yellow colours like brazil flag too, china has yellow stars matching brazil's yellow diamond so yup just like I don't mind millions of chinese or koreans speak brazilian portuguese interesting with the mix flags, right?!
Okay, back to the Poland and Japan and this is www.tamabi.ac.jp/gurafu/akiyama/SELECTPOSTER/030604_%2012.jpg what the Poland mix with Japan flags will look like, the rising sun rising from the red sea in a bright white sky, hehe!
That's an interesting cute same coloured Poland/Japan mixed flags, right?
I wish there are 1,600,000 of Japanese Polish and I hope in the future they'll be 2,600,000 in the United States of Japanese Americans or North Americans, agree?

Like: Suriname, French Guyana, Aruba, Belize. And the massive indigenous folk of Peru, Ecuador, Central America, and parts of Mexico, amongst others.
And Brazil I guess, although as I understand it, Brazil is felt to be Latino but not Hispanic. Even though Portuguese is a language based in the Iberian Peninsula, which was the historical Roman province of Hispania.

Tens of thousands of Chinese also fled to Mexico in the late 1800s and beginning of the 1900s to escape US anti-Chinese racism.

@kr tu - As an absolute number there were more Chinese in Cuba than the US in the latter 19th Century. There were nearly as many Chinese in Mexico, to where many Chinese escaped the terrible racism and indentured servitude in the US. Chinese became very integrated into Cuban and Mexican life largely in markets, restaurants and...laundries.
Unfortunately, in the 1930s in Mexico during the Great Depression right-wing Mexican business owners and a Mexican fascist movement called the "Camisas Doradas" (Golden Shirts-sound familiar?) whipped up anti-Chinese racism because the Chinese ran a large percentage of the market stalls in Northern and Central Mexico, and these Mexican businesses wanted to eliminate the competition. Five Mexican states passed anti-miscegination laws making it illegal for Mexicans to marry Chinese. This culminated in armed round ups of thousands of Chinese. Thousands were 'deported' in one night in 1931 and then more to the United States in 1931-32 where they were put in concentration camps, mainly in Arizona. Some were sent to China and others escaped to other parts of the US. Many of the Chinese restaurants in Southwestern USA were established by Chinese deported from Mexico.
In Cuba many of the Chinese business people left after the 1959 revolution, many to establish restaurants in New York. But many Chinese working people supported the Cuban revolution and stayed. Today there are three Chinese-Cuban Generals in the Cuban armed forces: Armando Choy, Gustavo Chui, and Moises Sio Wong.
History is far more rich and complex than the whitewashed versions we are taught.
There is also an interesting history of Chinese indentured servants working in Kentucky, USA in the 1840s to allegedly replace slavery. These Chinese workers most likely brought the first steel making to the United States in what became named the "Bessemer" crucible steel method already in practice in China for hundreds of years before Europe or the US started steelmaking.
Also, Chinese were hired as sugarcane plantation workers in Mississippi right after the Civil War. Their Afro-Chinese descendents still live there and in Louisiana to this day.

There's a lot of asians living here and made Peru their homeland , Peru is very diverse , we're a mix of different cultures like African , White , Brunette , Indian , Spanish , Italian , Chinese , Japanese , etc . But we are of the same blood and are proud to have been born in this beautiful country , this mix is seen in our food , traditions , celebrations and other things that are a big part of our identity , I had a girlfriend , she was half Peruvian and Chinese , but I broke up with her 2 years ago , anyways I love your video , greetings

Liz Figueroa there are many more than people realize. My father is from Mexicali in northern Mexico which had a sizeable Chinese community. In Baja California many Japanese and now Koreans settled there for business. Japanese and Chinese foods are popular there, and it is quite normal to see Mexican Asians. Also in Sao Paulo, Brazil you see many Japanese descendant people. I think this is a group of Latin Americans that have been ignored.

I remember as a kid reading a weekly magazine in 1978 in which the cover story was "70th anniversary of Japanese immigration in Brazil" and mentioned that "they've come a long way and today there are about 800.000 Japanese immigrants." And as of 2018 we're like almost 3 million. Indeed a long long way. Saludos to all asian latinos around.

I am a Mexican citizen of Vietnamese parents. I think the problem really is that the US puts all its identity into ancestry. In Latin America, we who are of Asian ancestry walk around in rich neighborhoods and in poor neighborhoods and in all places inbetween and even though we look different, we don't feel we stand out because nobody says anything different, glances over, nor gets surprised if we speak Spanish or anything and in businesses we are just one more customer. It only gets surprising or shocking in the United States because of all the racial or ethnic blocs and classifications.

I've seen several news pieces over the years about Latin Asians but none of them mention my community, which is a shock. We were a colony of Spain for more than 300 years, governed through Mexico City during the first 200 years. There is a Spanish Creole language called Chabacano that is spoken in the Philippines today, which is a testament to our shared history with our Latin American cousins across the Pacific. Abrazos.

Danz Castellòn You can move to Brazil but remember Brazil is going through some shit right now so it's best not to go until things get better. There is a place name Okinawa Prefecture located in southern Japan. The Japanese down there are more open to mixed relationships and marriages because of the American influence and they also have a military base where American men dating and having kids with Japanese women. If I'm not mistaking I think Okinawa Prefecture has the largest Hafu (half Japanese) in all of Japan.

The very first time I met a Peruvian who was of Chinese descent was in 2004.I was working for a company inside a building(from 2003-2005).A vendor had a small shop at the bottom/1st floor selling Peruvian jewelries. One day I was visiting his shop and I remember he told me his grandfather immigrated from China to Peru during the 1930's.His father was born and raise in Peru few years later and he was 2nd generation Peruvian-Chinese born during the early '60s.When I look closer at him,he does have almond eyes and far east black texture hair. But his facial bone structure look had a South American/Peruvian appearance and I don't think he said he was half breed and his name tag had a Chinese descent last name.It reminded me back in 2001,I had a neighbor at a condominium I was living at.She said she is originally from the country of Chile and moved to U.S. few years earlier in the late 1990's.But her parents moved there from England in the '50's.She was born and raise in Chile. You can tell she had a British/English descent look but with a Chilean/South American facial features. She still had an English/Anglo last name with blonde hair but when she spoke her English it had a Latina-Hispanic accent. What I do believe,a country's atmoshpere, landscape, terrain does some development when people are babies.

Asian Latinos get plenty of representation in Latin American media. So many celebrities that are both full blooded and mixed, which the latter is when the father is usually the Asian one.

I grew up in a Korean church in Texas, USA and one my of children's ministry pastors was from Argentina. She was always in charge of the Yucatan, Mexico mission trips because of her connections with the Spanish language etc. In youth group, there were two sisters who were from Brazil. I was aware there was an asian demographic in Latin America, but I didn't know that it was really big.

I grew up with a half Polish-Jewish, half Mexican mother and a half Russian-Kazakh, half Taiwanese father. For me, I grew up with my mom, so I always identified with my Jewish and Mexican heritage. However, nowadays, I identify a lot more with my Taiwanese family as I finally got to meet them not long ago. But it’s weird, you know. Since both of my parents are half white, those genes met in me. Blue eyes, brown hair, light skin. Really the only Asian I have in me is in my face structures, and the Spanish side is pretty much impossible to notice. But I feel proud of all of it, knowing my family all struggled like hell two generations ago, fleeing countries and marrying other refugees to get where we are now.

+Eurasian Writer, Sir, you are 100% right. Genetic studies show that Amerindians are an offshoot of the Asiatic N family, so, yes, technically many Hispanics/Latinos are all or almost or half Asian or have some Asian admixture in their DNA along with that of other races (it varies from person to person). It's just that this information is not well-known down south. Many people know they are mixed but they don't really know what they are exactly, hence the ignorance. Plus, as I write, DNA testing, what we have here in North America (AncestryDNA, FTDNA, 23andme, etc.), is not available in LATAM. I believe that as soon as it becomes available to the LATAM masses, perceptions will start to change. Latinos as a whole will become more aware of who they really are and this may help to reduce or even eradicate their racism towards each other ... their self-hate (we can always hope!). Thanks for posting this comment.

The one exception to this is the Portuguese-speaking country of Brazil. Asians there are usually "Japanese," regardless whether they are of Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, or Korean origin. But to illustrate your point: Argentine actress María Eugenia Suárez is now more popularly known by her nickname, "la China" Suárez, even though she is actually 1/4 Japanese. Suárez's late Nisei Argentine ("second generation Japanese Argentinian") maternal grandmother was Seiko Mitsumori. La China Suárez's username on Instagram is "sangrejaponesa," or "Japanese blood" - a tribute to her Japanese heritage.

      La RAE lo define así:
      ascendencia
      1. f. Serie de ascendientes o antecesores de alguien.
      2. f. Origen, procedencia de algo.
      descendencia
      Del lat. descendens, -entis 'descendiente'.
