I'm a Chinese guy, and my wife is Filipina. When I got to know her family, I was surprised by how welcoming they are. They just kept feeding me and inviting me to family events. Completely different from my experience with my Chinese ex girlfriend's parents. Definitely Filipinos are the warmest Asians.
In my travels throughout the Orient, I noticed some very striking differences between the Asiatic peoples. This was during the wicker furniture boom of the late 70's and 80's, so it was relatively still less traveled areas. When I was with some Chinese friends, I noticed they often always spoke about how much they ate, wanted to eat or needed to eat. This might be the after effects of the Cultural Revolution when the Chinese people would eat human flesh at times to satiate their hunger. The Japanese I met however were very quiet and rarely spoke about food except during meal times. This was when Japan was the second biggest economy and people were excited by all the innovations. The Chinese were very loud, abrasive and often spoke with food in their mouths. The Japanese would cover their mouths and eat very delicately. When I made by way to Philippines the people were friendly, often smiled even when they had nothing to say and had very little food. So many were starving, but they often invited me to dinner.
@ashwinpawar5325. I'm Filipina and I can tell you that Filipinos are backstabbers who also love gossip. They're jealous when someone is successful too.
As a Filipino I Think Indians are very compassionate and Friendly when in terms of Professionalism. And their are also Badass CEO like our CEO right now is an Indian and the recent is also Indian Microchip Technology.
In Philippines, if there a party or fiesta, you still get invited if your not family-related or you just passing by. This is the type of hospitality that you cannot experience in any East asian countries.
im a filipino. there was this korean girl i was hanging out with. everything was going ok until one day when her korean friends saw the 2 of us in a mall, the korean guys went to her and pulled her away from me and we never went out again. on a friendly level, they're okay but having a relationship with a non korean was another matter. but that was 15 yrs ago. im sure a lot has changed and opened up since then.
Nah, many Koreans still look down on Filipinos today, even though they love visiting Cebu and Boracay and studying English in the Philippines. I know this because some Korean vloggers who are now based in the Philippines say it is because of how the Korean media portrays the Philippines as a dangerous and poor country. If you go around their country and ask about the Philippines, most Koreans will say the Philippines is dangerous. But even though that's a harsh reality, Filipinos still love K-pop and K-dramas; hence, many Korean vloggers are fascinated by the Filipino people. If you watched their videos, you would see that they are trying hard to remove that stereotype from their country. Maybe in 5-10 years from now, it will change because of the effort of those bloggers.
I get the same vibe, went to a party with Korean (wife) and Lebanese French (husband) hosts here in Switzeralnd. It was SO awkward, Koreans made sure nobody entered their circle, so we, other non-Koreans (mostly Europeans and I'm the only Filipino) stuck together. Didn't mind coz we were the crazier, more fun bunch lol!
As Vietnamese, I can generally tell what Asians are not Vietnamese, but it's a lot harder when the person is also from Southeast Asia, like Thai, Filipino, Laos, etc...
That's awful, I hope you don't do that but I see where you are coming from. A sweet, beautiful filipino woman at my job had a lot of issues because there were several women jealous of her (in my opinion both appearance and personality) and they eventually got her fired. It's sad that people feel threatened by friendliness, it's very odd

Growing up, as a black person, most of my friends were Indian, one of my best friends was Chinese, and was really good friends with a Korean brother and sister. I really miss then and wonder if they are doing alright.
Growing up as a white person, all of my friends were Indians, and my best friend was Indian, his mother was a beautiful woman. I loved her and she was like my mom.

I'm a Filipino and I approve this message. My first year as an immigrant in the U.S., my circle of friends are from India, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Ecuador and of course fellow Filipinos. Kinda fun and crazy. I never got the chance of meeting Japanese and Koreans but I bet its fun to hang out with them too.

Lol it's true we Indians prefer to get into relationships with other Indians. Every fillipino I've met are so lovely. I believe they are the nicest people in the world not just the nicest Asians
I am Vietnamese. I used to hang out with an Indian office mate. I had never met an Indian like him. So it's only natural he ended up marrying a Filipino wife. His arranged marriage with an Indian wife fell through so fast.
The Indians, Chinese and Filipinos I have met have been so friendly and kind. There were Japanese exchange students at my school one year and wow, they were so friendly. When I opened the door to their classroom, they all came up and said "hello" and were smiling and excited to talk to me. While I did not spend a lot of time with them, I could tell those girls and boys were so bubbly and happy. I don't think this has anything to do with ethnicity/race though but rather personality, values and where you have grown up (so basically environmental factors). Also, those Japanese students, for example, were kids just like me so it was just that universal teenage spirit that they displayed.
Allow me to correct this,… Filipinos are on average SE-Asians, specifically Austronesian (genetically & ethnically). On average, having varying Indigenous heritage (eg: Aeta) including Australo-Melanesian admixture(eg Papuan). They are strongly influenced by Hispanic culture with a hint of genetic admixture(this admixture consist of both Spanish and Native American genetics as a package hence Latino). Historically, they also take influence from East Asia and South Asia with varying degrees of admixture depending on the individual. The Philippines’ modern culture is heavily Americanized. Filipinos from a distance look like a sea of brown skin, dark haired people but zoomed in they are diverse with variations depending on their specific heritage. This summary is based on facts and scientific data. Non-debatable.

Filipino men, and this is only speaking from my own experience, are not afraid to be kind, flirt or talk to women. Ie. I think this woman is cute... I'm gonna talk to her - no hesitation or shyness. Not surprising they marry outside their race the most. Who would have known that confidence, genuine kindness and coming from a friendly culture would help you get dates?!
In reality, it is quiet people that are the kindest people. There is no correlation between kindness and social skills. Character is everything, personality is nothing.
Speaking as a Filipino.... It's true. "I think this woman is cute, so I'm gonna talk to her." I don't see this thing getting practiced a lot in an American workplace, probably because of fear of getting accused of harassment. Which I find weird because Americans are really extroverted people. You'll think they'll be that gutsy, but not quite. But I do think American men will exert more effort, e.g., looking overseas for a future wife.
Filipinos are the most westernized people of all asians influenced by their colonization of Spain and the US, so i could see how that makes sense. Though marrying outside own race doesnt mean getting more dates. Do you have the source on interracial marriages among asian men that you state?
Filipinos want to be friends with everyone. I noticed growing up in the Philippines way back, Chinese were very aloof and tended to stay within themselves. Not sure if it’s still that way now.
I’m Filipino with 1/4 Chinese blood. When I was in graduate college in the Philippines I fell in love with my classmate. I asked her out many times and rejected me all the time. Finally I asked her why she didn’t go out with me. She answered that I was not 100% Chinese. And her father will not approve of our relationship. The Chinese do not usually intermix with non-Chinese and especially in my case Filipino men in the Philippines. Gladys C I still think of you.

The Vietnamese impression at the end was facts! My family really left to anywhere because they were afraid they would get arrested. No plan. As long as they got out, it was good.
Filipinos are hecka diverse and can blend in based on how they present themselves. I've been mistaken as east Asian, Indian, and other kinds of SE asian. And ofc, the darker Fils easily vibe with hispanics / blacks.
I am Filipino and my fiancé is Chinese. From my spending time with both sides of our families, I admit that my side of the family are a lot warmer and passionate as oppose to my fiancé's side. When I met his family at first, I thought they they didn't like me, because their reaction to me seemed lukewarm if not standoffish. My fiancé explained that his family - mostly the elderly relatives - prefer to stay in their "Chinese bubble" since that's where they are most comfortable. And, for the most part, that's how Chinese people are in most things. Knowing that, I try not to take it personally. That being said, wherever I am in the US, I find that Cambodians, Indians, Pakistanis, Indonesians and Thai people to be among the friendliest Asians. Even if they cannot speak English well, they'll still try to befriend and converse with you. ☺ Unfortunately, I find Koreans to be the least friendly. They're either very standoffish or angry/aggressive. I honestly do not know why. I try to talk about K-pop or K-dramas with them, but nope. Maybe I'm just not lucky in finding one that's nice to me 😅😂
I agree with you, Koreans aren't friendly, they giving their superior vibes at the fullest. Yes, South East asians are very friendly. I currently stay in Indonesia and people here smiles a lot, at first I kinda wary abt my safety as a chinese 😅 nightime is still dangerous tho, walking alone is dangerous.
Koreans are only interested in interacting with other Koreans. That's just how they are. They have a similar attitude to Russians in the sense that they are educated about other cultures but they have no interest in partaking in those cultures. They are content around their own people.

The lukewarmness of Chinese people is I think a trait that Japanese people also share. And I think it comes from a similar place where they're cautious to say if they love or hate something. And it also just wouldn't be truthful to how they feel. For most things, we just feel pretty close to neutral about. And even if we have an opinion, it's not super strong. I think this is in contrast to South Koreans who I think, from what ive seen, love hard and hate hard.

Would be interesting to see a whole series of inter-asian-american dynamics. Like amongst asian americans, what would be interesting similarities, bonds, differences or cultural dynamics between how Chinese interact with Filipinos, how Japanese interact with Vietnamese, how Koreans interact with Indians etc
Chinese + Japanese, Cambodian + Hmong, Filipino + Vietnamese, Thai + Lao are combos that get along well from my experience. Koreans are the most insular and like to stick with their own.

Guys, good point about Chinese being not extreme either way. My understanding is Chinese teaching has stressed "moderation" in any and everything dated back thousands of years.
Its just that China is so big and had such long history relationship with all their Asian neighbors that its bound to have no problems coexisting with the Chinese group for every other Asian groups.
I think Japanese are friendlier than Indians tho 😅 Speaking from my own experience, there are so many Indians studying in the Philippines and they’re kinda cloistered and won’t start any conversation. as an Asian who have lived in The OC, Houston, NorCal, LA and Las Vegas. I agree, Filipinos are by far the friendliest. Thai and Nepalese are also very nice and approachable. Koreans are def the most stand-offish. Vietnamese are the most competitive and outspoken. Indians are socially very approachable but also can be Karens. Japanese are the most assimilated to the Anglo-American culture. Chinese are either very assimilated or are very rude if they're FOBs.

I'm Tibetan and by nature I am very kind and expressive. But most people have never met a Tibetan man before so they are very rude or hostile to me since I look so different and my whole life in America has been like that. That has made me very assertive and defensive to insults, which comes across as aggressive or rude so people I meet think all Tibetans are assholes. Which certainly isn't true. I don't think it's fair to make these generalizations about anyone.

First, there are Filipinos all over the world. Pretty much everywhere I’ve been internationally, there’s always a group of Filipinos that live there. A few years ago I went to a Jollibee in Milan, Italy around lunchtime. I was the only non Philippines born in the entire place. That being said, Filipinos have learned over the centuries to blend in wherever they live in the world. Yes. They could be one of the most caring people but realistically speaking, there are a lot of Filipino nurses because there are job opportunities abroad.
Historically, it's literally because the American govt lured Filipino nurses into working for them by promising better wages. I distinctly remember that this started happening when the Philippines was still an American colony or was an American commonwealth.

Philippines was colonized by Spain for over 330 years. I believe in around 1570 China came to Manila but only to trade with Spain, and the Dutch and the British tried to take the Philippines from Spain but they did not stay. Then the US went to war with Spain invaded Manila destroying the Spanish fleet in 1898. Thereafter the Germans under Von Bismarck tried to take on the US for the Philippines but backed down. The US stayed until the end of World War 2. I'm old and as a kid in Manila I've seen Americans all the time even in my school, that was in the early 1960s. So the Filipinos are used to being with Europeans and Americans.

As someone who grew up and lives in a city with a lot of various types of Asians, chinese should be a LOT higher. Sure there are some pockets of chinese that just stick together but even so they're not totally opposed to the idea of making new friends outside of their friend group. I've had some friends in college that were chinese and they were generally very open. You don't really feel this barrier that they don't want to be your friend. Now Koreans, on the other hand...
Growing up in the Philippines, the godmother I was closest to was Chinese. Nothing lukewarm about her. Very affectionate and she and her husband always looked for me. Her daughter was a former Miss Chinatown and she (my godmother) was very beautiful. Some Korean American and Korean Canadian ladies, however, have been very nice to me. My son always gravitates toward Filipino mothers because of me. I tend to get along with Japanese. I got along well with a Taiwanese engineer at work (he retired, though, so I don't see him at work anymore) i loved to listen to his stories about his wife and children and his relative who headed a Taiwanese dance company that performed in D.C. The lady who owns the Korean restaurant here in our small town is a sweetheart. A former Mrs. Korea, so beautiful outside and inside. Her husband is Brazilian American, if I am not mistaken. My son works with a number of Chinese models because they wear his fantasy and avant garde hairstyles so well during shows. And let's take celebs. I found Japanese rockers to be really nice and accommodating to fans, regardless of ethnicity and color. On the other hand, I flew to Vancouver for a Korean celeb's fan meeting and sorry, but I found him snooty, not to mention a number of the staff selling the merch were just as snooty. Yet, I went to the Japan Day fest in NYC during Mother's Day weekend and the Japanese were very warm and welcoming. And seeing the star of the "Naruto" stage play was an added bonus.
Up to now . Filipinos are always have a Warm, friendly welcome to some foreigners who visited our country. We don’t think to be famous, rich , we always thinking about family, get along & a Happy person every single day even don’t have enough money. Compared to our Asian neighbors they always think about the money, business and to be famous , fame all the luxuries things in life. Filipinos are always helping each other neighbors giving or asking food next to my neighbor house.
I have no interaction with Koreans but I’ve seen two YT videos where a Korean woman says Koreans are racist towards other Asians. Most look up only to Western countries. That’s the Korean woman talking (not me).
Most will feed you but not all will shelter you. Housing a stranger regardless if they are a foreigner is pushing it a bit. Heck the neighborhood kids and aunties will even suggest a nearby hotel for you to stay in instead unless you have no money and no other choice.
Vietnamese people are one of the most resilient people I know, they still have that laid back character associated with southeast Asian culture and I think they also mix with other cultures.
Filipinos and Indians speak English very well, so I guest they are more friendlier compared to to others, however try and do a poll of Asians from other nations that speaks other languages. Perhaps language barrier can be a factor.
I am a Filipino married to a Chinese guy. I agree that my hubby's comment on stuff is always in the middle. Like for example he would say that the food is ok. That's the best thing he could say. Also, his family is not warm at all. Good thing our daughter got the Filipino warmthness.
I am Filipino and I lived in the US in three different states for 27 years. In each place my husband and I met and became very good friends with Americans and other nationalities mostly. We went out often, but always in restaurants. My husband and I always took the initiative to invite them quite often in our home for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Then with every group, it became the practice of rotating entertaining in our homes for more personal bonding.

Filipino here, in my 3 decades in US, I get along with my fellow kababayans, Vietnamese, Chinese, Koreans, Taiwanese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Sri Lankans. For other Asians I don't seem to get enough interaction with them to the point we can get into friendly conversations. The most sociable among the types of Asians from my time with them are the Cantonese, Thai, Japanese, Sri Lankans and my own fellows.
As an Asian American guy myself for me born in the USA with Filipino heritage from my mom and Indian heritage from my dad with the topic of which Asians are the most vs least friendliest. All I see with this topic is that any Asian can be good vs bad people where it's better just to see the inside of Asians instead of the outside.
I agree with the Filipinos being the friendliest and Koreans being last on the list. I've experienced rudeness when dealing with Koreans, especially, at Korean restaurants. I'm not sure if it has to do with the language barrier or not, but I am always friendly and patient with the staff at any restaurant. One time, I was asking some easy questions and the Korean waitress grunted, turned around and stormed off. Not sure what her problem was. 🙄 Never went back! Their culture is racist even towards other Asians...speaking from experience (I'm Filipino).
And most Korean restaurants and establishments here in US have Korean writing which means KOREAN ONLY. So if you can’t read that sh*t, you’re not welcomed! 😆
I might be bias but I agree, Filipinos are super friendly and always smiling. Filipinos can go to any country and assimilate easily with the local culture, language, and blend well with society. I am a Filipina and I get along very well with other Asian groups. My friends are Indians, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Thais, Koreans, Pakistanis, Taiwanese, and so on. Wonderful and friendly people. The only contention I observed is between Indian and Chinese employees working in tech (here in Silicon Valley). There seems a friction between them at work.
One of the coolest people I've ever kicked it with worked at Audi as a parts manager. He was indian Immediately he asked me my ethnicity, my hobbies, if I enjoyed my job. I just met this man and he was treating me like a son and friend 😂
My friend who is Indian told me that for Indians, it's about marrying another "family" so that person has to be Indian no matter what. They also have the caste system which creates situations where even within the Indian community, they have to marry within the caste as well as marrying within their ethnic group (so Tamil marrying Tamil or Punjabi marrying Punjabi). Having said that, I found the Indians to be most open to interracial/inter-ethnic marriage to be the Malaysian-Indians, Singaporean-Indians and Indo-Caribbeans. Indians from India tend to be very traditional.
I’ve been all over Asia and I find Filipinos to be the friendliest and Chinese the coldest. Maybe because of language barrier but Filipinos also usually say hi or smile. Chinese won’t even acknowledge you lol

You were surprised? Aren't they known to be friendly along with Brazilians
And yet you Chinese can't do that hospitality and caring towards Filipinos when they travel to your country.
As an Indian I feel that Filipinos are the nicest ppl in the world and not just in Asia.

Filipinos are Southeast Asians with Pacific Islander vibe, with a little hint of Latino, a bit Americanized, with strong influences from East Asia.
Allow me to correct this,…
Filipinos are on average SE-Asians, specifically Austronesian (genetically & ethnically).

It was my American Chinese friend who pointed this to me he told me the Koreans wanted only mingle among their kind but maybe that's half truth it was 20++ years ago dynamics . Filipinos will click with anyone including with Jewish people! in terms of humor. Chinese are friendly as well they just hustle all the time they want to get ahead in terms of finances and that's mostly their goal. Don't leave the Nepalese here they're one of the friendliest cordial pleasant people I've ever met I always love meeting Nepalese people ! They should be 2nd not India. Mongolians too should be on there .
4th gen Japanese-American here. I agree with this list 100% based on my 45 years living in the SGV.
I’m Filipino-Chinese, the Chinese are lukewarm. You can see it in the way they compliment/priase something/someone.😅 Instead of saying the food is good/delicious, the Chinese say it’s not bad.
Maybe it depends on the person? I absolutely flip out when I eat good food
@@andrewcheng2852 yes, it really depends on the person, their character, upbringing, & their chosen friends. The younger generation are more vocal but there are still some who are still more reserved. I noticed that it is common for chinese families wherein they teach their children to not cause trouble as much as possible or not burden anyone. They usually want things done with less hassle.
Koreans and Chinese are the least friendly. The friendliest are the Filipinos, Malaysians, Indonesians and Vietnamese.
Korea itself is the most homogenous country in the world. And its society is very competitive. You may find some reasons from them. But once koreans consider you as a friend, you can have deep relationship with them
Our loyalty or affection is not cheap but once you have it, you have it for a lifetime.
so filippinos and many chinese ,perhaps malay too, makes much more efforts to approach and be open with westerners than thais, japanese and many koreans. they're not lazy unlike them. ok so japan and thailand are not worth it to find good companions. anyway thai and japanese are a torture to learn.

I agree that Filipinos are the friendliest and most out going..but I've also experienced kind and funny Chinese people at the beauty supply shop that I frequented and they were always nice to me and would even carry conversations with me every time I went there ...they were really nice honestly.....I've never had the pleasure of meeting any Japanese people...Vietnamese lots of times because of where I get my mani / pedi done...as for Koreans.. personally I think they are a little to hive minded and fearful...they tend to believe alot of what they hear about other groups of people rather than have actually experienced an interaction with those groups of people and they're somewhat to afraid to step outside of their bubbles unless they are Korean American but then that also depends on where they were raised.
Fillipinos are the friendliest to blacks they even have Afro Fillipinos so it makes sense . Even when it comes to interracial relationships many of my friends are half fillipino half black.
A blac american joined our independence movement against the US before, look him u0
100% Filipinos!
Philippines is not known being a racist country. Very open to every race.
We (Filipinos) treat foreigners nicely but there is still discreet racism in a way that comes out as jokes but not much of hatred towards other races.
Traveled the world over and spent months in the Philippines going back to 1977, Filipinos are the friendliest.
As a Korean American myself, I would like to know what this PLAN is! Let me join in on the PLAN hahaha
Basically the plan has been: Make money but make sure you lift up and help other Koreans
Go to the Philippines and you will understand why Filipinos are the friendliest not just in Asians but the whole world
If there are updated, more recent stats for this, I hope you can make another video about this topic! :D
Hello greetings too I'm Japanese and Filipino 😊
Agreed Filipinos are the friendliest & worked with Koreans for 4 years & they need to open up & be more optimistic about other cultures.
You could go to the Philippines and ask strangers if you could sleep in their homes and they’ll welcome you lol
Bro that's dangerous tho
Most will feed you but not all will shelter you. Housing a stranger regardless if they are a foreigner is pushing it a bit. Heck the neighborhood kids and aunties will even suggest a nearby hotel for you to stay in instead unless you have no money and no other choice.
Maybe if you look pitiful they will let you. If you look fit and could afford a hotel, I doubt it.
So funny when you guys do accents. I ain't even mad!!! Lol😂😂😂😂
This is interesting and FILIPINO people are so AMAZING and friendly. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🥰🥰🥰 Their ARTISTRY is Top 🔝 Level.
The WAY you can imitate each group is hilarious 🤣. Your personalities are EXEMPLARY.
I’m Indigenous Native American and within my Tribes Territory we had a long standing relationship with the Chinese and we exchanged goods and holistic medicine . It’s even in our archives.
Filipino's are the most friendly asians I know. In my life I have mixed with a lot of asian people from different countries
Gonna go to a Filipino/Korean wedding this Fall. Should be an interesting time lol
@@rodpolintan6533, Well, at least you know that the Filipino family will be friendly! 😁
And most Korean restaurants and establishments here in US have Korean writing which means KOREAN ONLY. So if you can’t read that sh*t, you’re not welcomed! 😆
@@tweedledee-z5c That’s awful!😡
Yeah they are the worst, not sure why they think highly on themselves.
Filipino Men got too much Rizz 🇵🇭
I might be bias but I agree, Filipinos are super friendly and always smiling. Filipinos can go to any country and assimilate easily with the local culture, language, and blend well with society.
I am a Filipina and I get along very well with other Asian groups. My friends are Indians, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Thais, Koreans, Pakistanis, Taiwanese, and so on. Wonderful and friendly people. The only contention I observed is between Indian and Chinese employees working in tech (here in Silicon Valley). There seems a friction between them at work.
i'm korean american and can confirm we are still very insular.
Yup. Cantos are very cautious but things are changing.
As a filipino who was once married to a korean……Faaaaaacts 😂😂😂
In my experience Filipino and southern Vietnamese are friendly. Chinese are by far the coldest.
One of the coolest people I've ever kicked it with worked at Audi as a parts manager. He was indian
Immediately he asked me my ethnicity, my hobbies, if I enjoyed my job.
I am Filipino but I am close to Japanese, Indonesian when I was in France. Edited also Vietnamese as well.
I’ve been all over Asia and I find Filipinos to be the friendliest and Chinese the coldest. Maybe because of language barrier but Filipinos also usually say hi or smile. Chinese won’t even acknowledge you lol
