      My NC2 PRHT SE is the best car I’ve owned from handling and feel perspectives. And it looks great too! Best Miata suspension, best engine from factory (no direct injection), best transmission, and the limited slip is strong enough to throw gobs of power at it.

    RPF1 wheels are the only choice.
    2 lbs lighter than stock when you get a wider wheel at 8”, although this video highlights the even wider 9”.
    Not to mention the strength of them. Used in racing for many years, these hold up to abuse like no others.
    And then there’s availability. These are everywhere.

    The 2.5L Mazda 6 engine with some cams, tune, stock NC intake manifold, a header, and a baffled pan has done 9000 track miles over the years and approximately 30k street miles on the same setup.

    Have a 2014 PRHT Club since 7/17 Three years daily 122 miles round trip to work, most easy to live with as a daily of any MX5. It replaced 2003 NB difference is night and day, comfort wise. Recently had the flapper valves replace in the drain tubes that drains rain water from top it made the car a lot more quiet and when I go by a foul smelling spot like a sewage plant if I close the windows there is zero smell coming into the car unlike before. It is bone stock and it is fine for me. Put 60,000 plus miles on it only repair was evaporator fan and one sun visor.

    I have a 2011 kendo nc2, 44,000 miles, witch I love, I'm seriously considering a bbr 200 upgrade, it's around £2,500 in the uk, but will bring it up to just over 200 bhp, which is where I think it should be, and keeping everything else so it's still naturally aspirated... john

  • @Chilicharger665

    Finally! Idk what your budget is with this thing, but you can put a 2.3 crank in a 2.5 block and make a 2.4 that spins decently high and has more torque than the 2.0. Esslinger Engineering, Fab 9, and Dynotronics are three shops that come to mind that are making awesome NC parts these days. Kinsler is releasing an ITB setup too.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 месяцев назад

      Good to know! I would say budget wise, I wouldn't want to go much more than what a stock clean S2K (already in around $14k with this) would cost in todays market. But if we are talking about being able to buy a built engine and drop it in, that sounds intriguing.

    • @Conner_Two
      @Conner_Two 6 месяцев назад

      The 2.4 would cost under 5 grand. It really is the best buck. Or just 2.5 with cams. It just won't Rev. I'm building a boosted nc right now

    • @redheadmetalhead247
      @redheadmetalhead247 4 месяца назад +2

      @PyroPlays Somehow RUclips didn't notify me of your reply, but if you're still curious, the NC is an improvement over the NB in just about every conceivable way. The NC feels like a Miata for an actual adult, and the NB feels like a 90s rattletrap for boy racers. Again, I've owned 3 NBs, including an MSM, and I love the visuals and styling of the NB, but the NC is just better in every way to me. They don't look as goofy in person (except for the NC1 - that still looks like a soap bar), and looks especially good once you lower it a bit with good fitting wheels.

    Great to see an NC on the channel. My heart will always be with the NA but with just a few tweaks from factory the NC is easily the best handling Miata, which I think ties in to Quinn's comments on the RX-8. Just feels so nicely balanced, and more steering feedback than the ND. BBR's ITB version feels pretty healthy so that'd be one option for sure. I can see myself picking up an NC as my next daily as you go through this series...

    Hello from Maine! I had a black 2012 PRHT GT with the Suspenion Pack, and loved that car (aside from black being near impossible to keep clean!). The PRHT is a better top than the ND's Targa, in-my-opinion: it offers a secure cabin and also a true open-air experience. Congrats, Matt!

Not going to do anything crazy to it. Just gonna put a 2" lift kit, swap 215/70 r15s, and change to the quietest exhaust I can find. It's more for countryside driving than doing anything flashy. And have that open top feeling, of course!

    What a unique club! Black with the black roof. All the ones I have seen have an off roof color which I dont personally care for. I've owned a 2011 prht gt manual since new. I think when I finally pull the trigger on modding it for the first time, I am going for the following oem plus setup:
    Flying miata super q exhaust
    Flying miata midpipe w/ hemholtz resonator and high flow cat, flying miata catted header, and maybe a mild set of cams. Aiming for 180 crank on 91. Don't k swap. If you do you should have just bought an s2k imo. This is a different experience. Its more fun more of the time. The s2ks are more fun at rpms above 7000, but they are torque less down low. Oh and for all the haters that call the nc miata a boat. S2ks are 300 lbs heavier. If ncs are boats then s2ks are oil tankers.

    I'm with quinn on this. As an rx8 guy.. The nc is the best. But genuinely it's also my favorite maybe just on par with the nd2 the nc3 club is just.. Awesome and I defy anyone who has driven all 4 to tell me why outside "oh it's fat or it's too big." is the na is a tin can the nb is a tin can with maybe 15%more comfort. The nc is another league and I got head room. The nd of course is a mile above either and I'm jealous of the front control arm set up... But.. For the money man.. I don't know if you can top an nc3.. Outside the se3p

    • @TheSlipAngle

    Great wheel choice! I will be adding rpf1 to my nb1 but on a smaller lighter wheel size (debating 14 for max lightness or 15 for bigger brake setup) congrats on the new to you nc2, great choice with the club. I have driven the NC2 with the 6 speed manual and the 5 speed manual, anyone else besides me prefer the 5 speed? Felt a little more precise to me.
    As for what to do with the motor, if you are keeping it naturally aspirated and want reliable high revving power then a kswap seems logical.

This will be the cheapest by far to own for a street car out of your list. If you got a little money, e46 m3 all day. E92 same kinda issues as e46 m3 except chassis, and your gonna burn a whole lot more fuel in that v8. If you have even more money, cayman. I'm pretty sure bore scoring issues are part of that cayman generation. If you have owned mostly reliable japanese cars, just be prepared to spend money on the German stuff.

    Now that you've that the new wheels mounted with the 245/40's, what are your thoughts on that tire size? Goodwin recommends a 17x8 with a 235/40 for street cars but as someone else has mentioned, the tire selection is very, very minimal in comparison to the 245/255 selection. I'm looking to do the same setup with a set of 245/40s Conti ExtremeContact Sport 02's, slightly lowered on coilovers with the appropriate amount of negative camber for a street car, but, its hard to find input on how the 17x9 245/40 combo really is. Otherwise, its a 17x9 +45 with a 235/40 Toyo Proxes Sport. Or, a 17x8 +45 with the same tire/size per Goodwin's recommendation. Your setup looks great on the car by the way and is what I'm looking for!

      I put the existing 245/40 geForce Rivals back on these wheels, they still had about half tread and we do have mounting equipment so I figured why not... I'll probably drop to a 225 or 235 set of something 200TW after these wear out.

    This doesn't help my desire for one of these! I'd say pick up a Goodwin Helmholtz centre piece if the axleback was too loud, at least then it targets the drone but you can change overall volume with the rear muffler. (haven't experienced either though, so that's just an educated guess). Depends if you stay with the Mazda engine though as well.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, like you said, it's all going to depend what engine it will ultimately have. I think anything with a header will sound good with the Super-Q axle back. If it's too loud, I can always do the HH mid pipe
