    Sharing just because I've seen a few conflicting comments from both the creator and commenters: For IPL to work, it needs to come in contact with the melanin in the hair roots, which means that if you wax or epilate while doing IPL treatments you won't really see results, because their are no roots for the device to target. For best results, you should only shave while using IPL. Cheers!

    • @JJamiah
      @JJamiah Год назад +5

      Actually if you do it right after waxing, it we’ll work because the 🩸 blood will act as the needed pigment. I got IPL after waxing. I also asked the manufacturer themselves before hand.

    • @PinkKoalas
      @PinkKoalas Год назад +21

      @@JJamiahactually it has to be done after shaving because the laser has to cling onto the root of the hair. Waxing removes at a deeper level. Shaving is definitely best.

      @@PinkKoalas IPL needs pigment/color to work. It’s able to do both if you do the IPL right after waxing. Shaving has a longer span. I’m just providing information for those who want to wax. I got IPL 8 years ago for a year and I’m still hairless. I also received laser and I have more hair growing from that than the IPL.

    Yes, this was very helpful! Even though it wasn't to your liking, your results are what I'm going for. I have multiple hairs in single follicles, so that creates major irritation, ingrown hairs, and infections when I'm removing hair. My hair is so thick, so I can see the hairs again half a day after shaving. I can't do laser because it's out of my budget. I'm ok with not getting the results of laser for the price of IPL!

    Hearing you talk about it I was a bit discouraged because it sounded like it is not permanent and you are still having to treat or shave. But for my needs, a permanent reduction in the density of growth and thickness of individual hairs sounds totally worth it.
    I already don't shave often (hairs are dark but pretty wispy) but I don't like the look of my ankles when they're full grown. Making the hair less dense will allow me to stop shaving completely

    I think this was the MOST HELPFUL video that I watched about this topic. My biggest worry and the biggest question about this whole IPL technique/ process was whether it was not going to grow back, the hair that I removed, for about 12 weeks. I hesitated about buying the product because I thought once I stopped using it the hair would eventually start growing back as wildly as it was before, maybe more so. TY for an honest opinion. I love keeping mine smooth, just feels so much better...but do any of you find it easier to allow hair growth to occur then shave or obsessively shave when the tiniest bit becomes visible? Part of me when I do so myself feel its better to wait a few extra days...idk why that is though.

      Before I started IPL, I had this same dilemma. I would usually shave every 3 days. My hair didn't grow exactly "fast," but if I went beyond three days without shaving, it would start feeling stubbly. If I went a week without shaving, it was definitely stubbly. 3 days between shaves was ideal for me. The important thing is just to use a good quality razor and lots of shaving creme/gel, because you get a much smoother shave that lasts longer that way.

    It’s curious to me that they recommend using it every week or two. When I had this done professionally, they recommended appointments about every 8-10 weeks. Idea was that at regular intervals you’d catch hair follicles at the cell division point that was most effective to eliminate. It worked very well, albeit over the course of a year. And after 15 or so years I’m still very satisfied with the results. Of course weekly may catch hair cells at the correct point to eliminate them, but perhaps in the long run it may not be necessary for the longevity of the device or overall effectiveness. Weekly or two might also be a bit much for sensitive skin types, as burning hair follicles from the inside can be rough for a few days.

      Hello, I used to shave before the treatment, but now I started epilating, but its too soon to tell if this way is better :) and yes, after a week you have to shave before the treatment because you will see that your hair is coming back, it will take a while until you will see at least some results :)

    • @jennageer5507

      If you use an epilator I believe the laser device will not work because you are pulling the root out. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to wax or pluck while doing treatments

      Don’t epilate, wax, tweeze or do anything that will pull the root of the hair out. The ONLY way IPL or lasers work is if the root of the hair is present. They work by targeting the pigment in the root of the hair.
