    I prefer medium worsted yarns #4. The stitches are easier for me to see since I am over 65 yrs old. I used to love crochet cotton when I was much younger because I loved making lace and the beauty of the stitches.
    I love your tutorial style, and I wanted to see both the Catherian's Wheel and Bavarian Stitch patterns, as I was confused about the written patterns. Now, I'm looking forward to replicating what you did. 😀

  • @naomicurrier1
    @naomicurrier1 Год назад +1

    I generally use a 2 weight to a 4 weight depending on what kind of afghan I am making. Especially for children I go lighter only because 4 weight can get awfully heavy for sleeping under for kids under 5. But as always it's a personal choice.

    I’m planning to
    Make my 7 y/o Grandson personal throw.
    Are these patterns yarn eaters?
    If I used a self Striping
    Cake, Skein etc
    Do you have any idea how many would be need?
    Depends on weight…Yes, I don’t work well with thin yarn (Dk or sport -Hands shakes, a little hard to control my tensions. Arthritis.
    Lastly would a weight 4 yarn be to heavy. They look very dense.
    I appreciate your input
    Immensely.
    Love your tutorials and stitch alongs.
    Thank you so much
    Tiffany.
    🙏🏽🥰

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  Год назад

      Hi there! The only pattern here that might be a bit of a yarn eater would be the Bavarian Stitch but because all of these stitches are flat, not too bad on that.
      I’m not really sure about the self striping question. I recommend you try searching, getting your numbers and that will tell you everything you need to know.
      If you’re not sure how to do that check out my Swatch Series where I share all of my secrets in finding information for a blanket before I begin.
      Click Here: ruclips.net/p/PL6HRmAfbRXTV5Kt9XjOmWPEmXBaVn5nkV
      A size 4 weight yarn is probably the largest size you can go to keep things in the lighter end. After that things get bulkier and weigh more.
      I hope all this helps!! Have fun!

    Hi Tiffany! I can’t find a place to email you, so I am putting my question to you here….😊. I see many videos on how to figure out how much yarn you need for a project, but none on the question of how to USE THE YARN YOU HAVE…example:
    I have 3 cakes of Mandala yarn that I want to use up…I think it is app 1700 yds… it’s the chain… how big to make it… in the past, I have made a chain that I think will be good and I wind up with either running out of yarn for a good proportionate size, or have too much yarn left over because the blanket is getting too tall… it’s good to have some left over, but a lot is of no use…any tips?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  Год назад

      That is a fantastic question Suzanne! I just wrote that down to make a video on it. Until then, what I do to figure out if I have enough yarn to make a blanket is first work up a swatch. I write down the dimensions of the swatch (how many inches wide/long). Then I mark the end of the swatch with a knot (or you can cut the yarn) and unravel the swatch. Measure how many inches of yarn were in the swatch. Take that number and divide it by 12. Now you know how many feet of yarn you had. Take this new number and divide it by 3. Now you know how many yards of yarn it took to make that swatch.
      Find how many yards of yarn total you have to work with and divide the TOTAL number of yards you have by how many yards of yarn you got out of the swatch.
      Now you know how many swatches you can play with. Example, You can make 20 swatches. Ok, you could play with 4 swatches wide by 5 swatches tall.
      How many inches wide was your swatch? 5 inches wide? so 5 inches wide swatch x 4 swatches = 20 inches wide blanket.
      I hope that makes sense.
      I'll explain it all in the video that I make.
      If you would like even more help definitely check out my Crochet Club Membership where I can help explain this to you in person with examples.. I would love to see you there. To check out my membership program click here: members.crochetwithTiffany.com. It's free to try. 😊❤️🧶
