Hi Friends, I hope you enjoy the video. I am really loving this stitch but I'm sure that's no surprise if you've seen any of my videos. I am a big cat lover and I appreciate that you don't fuss about the cat hair that usually appears in my videos. lol. Let me know if you've done this one before. It's a lot of fun! x
@@saraferguson1156 oooh , thats a toughie. For crocheting , that’s not going to be possible , I don’t think. You could add embroidery on each individual cat , though 👍🏻💕

This was my sister's favorite stitch. When she died in 2013, I made all of her grandsbabies a blanket with their favorite colors and this stitch. It's a super easy and beautiful stitch.
My local cat shelter is having an art show to raise money and now I know exacly what im going to donate. A cat scarf! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I started to crochet a vest with this motif. I made a little change which I think made it better: For the second row instead of the shell (2dc+1ch+2dc) I made 5 dc. This way there isn't a hole in the middle of the face of the cats :) Thank you very much, as another cat lover I really appreciate this motif.
I don't know how I've lived this many years without encountering this stitch. I absolutely adore it! And thank you for making your videos so clear and easy to understand. I'm going to go loot my yarn stash now to see if I have appropriate colours for the kitties of my life.🐱
I tried to make a scarf using this pattern by following along with another video and it was aweful!. However, I found your video and it was a breeze! You are an amazing teacher and easy to follow along with as you crochet. You make sure we can see where you place your stitches and explain everything very well! Thank you so much for everything including the printable pattern! As a self taught crocheter, you have made my life so much easier!
I have been wanting to learn this stitch! Thank you! On an amusing note, my husband sat down to watch the video with me. I think he’s convinced crochet is some sort of magic. How interesting to think that I can follow along easily with the stitches, but for him it’s gibberish.
@@PlayHookywithMe The only caveat is that it's the most expensive blanket I've ever made. I have 29 cats per row and 29 rows. If I were to do it all over, I'd go 30 and 30 (900 cats) I used nine or more colors; black, light grey, dark grey, dark stripes, white, cream, tweed, gold and orange, all pretty much at random.
I'm really bad at crocheting. I do plan to try this stitch. What has me commenting before I even watch this video is the cat element. I had the most wonderful Siamese of almost 20 years. When I decided to try my hand at crocheting and knitting, he was already quite wisend. I started around 2017, the little fella was born in 2002. He helped me roll every ball of yarn for every bad afghan I knitted or crocheted. As I brushed him, I always worked some of his fur into each and every thing I made so I would have part of him in everything I made for as long as it held together. They aren't pretty works by any means, but they are all perfectly rectangular, and either double crochet or basic knit. There are pull marks from our tug of war as he played and I crocheted. He's been gone since 2021 and I'm just now picking my crochet hooks up again.
Oh my goodness!😍 Now I've just got to figure out a way to use this stitch in the round and make a little long pullover sweater dress for a great grandbaby with it! 🤔 So so cute! Thank you!
I'm so excited to try this! I already can think of friends that I want to gift a cat scarf to. Thanks for the tutorial. Tutorials like these are how I have gained confidence in my crochet abilities. 😊
Great pattern! Thanks! Saw someone mention making a scarf to donate and thought I'd put in my $.02. Having worked this and similar patterns, unless you use "Baby" yarn with a larger hook, the piece becomes too bulky and stiff for a scarf. I made a simple triangular shawl(starting with one motif on bottom, 3 the next row, increasing by 2 each row until preferred size is reached, then added a shell border all around to give it a neat finish) using Baby Bernat in Lilac, Pink an Mint and a size H/8-5mm hook. This came out nice and stretchy, drapes beautifully and elicits compliments whenever I wear it. Thinking of working up another with more Autumnal colors. Another idea, is little "Cat Mats." Mine love to hook their claws in chair seats when they stretch, and my Nebelung sheds long, fine grey hairs that are hard to vacuum off. I've made squares the size of the chair seats using rug yarn, or a double strand of regular worsted or crochet cotton, again size H/8 5mm hook. Single crochet all around edge to tighten up the shape. These are game changer! Have many and can toss in wash saving my upholstery, as I have 3(down from 5) formerly feral cats. I have cotton ones on all kitchen and outdoor chairs as the metal gets really hot in the sun, and acrylic makes me itch. Acrylic ones are super cozy, so I toss one on the bed and a couple on the sofa. Kitties will always choose to lie on top of something ( your book, homework etc lol), so they go for these rather than the duvet or afghan etc. Have 1 Tortie who refuses to eat on the floor with the others, so always jumps up on the sideboard and demands(Full TORTITUDE) her dish be placed there. She was scratching the finish, so I made a rectangle the width of the surface and a little longer than her body. She loves it, as it reinforces how special she is lol. Hope this gives all y'all some ideas for yourselves and donation items. Rescue groups always appreciate comfort items for their shelter animals, so I am making some round mats, crocheted from strips of old sheets over dyed in soothing colors, to give to SPCA. A bit tough to work, but the result is a tight weave that is durable, breathable, holds up to many washings, and my babies love the nubbly texture. These are easier to keep clean and sanitary than blankets, and work in indoor or outdoor kennels. So far have 3 finished, 15", 18" and 21". All 3 were made from 2 fitted and 1 flat Q size sheets, just to give a ballpark figure on quantities needed. Had 2 colors and mixed them so results are quite jolly and homely. I started my own project with your video because it was way easier than a different one I tried, and when I returned to this video, I had to laugh. I'm using the same colors in the same order! Hobby Lobby YarnBee DK soft in Ivory, Pumpkin and Black. So cute!!
I believe this may be the perrrrrfect stitch for the lap robe I plan to make as a bingo prize for the care facility where my sister lives. Happy stitches to all!
Already so excited to start a cardigan with this stitch, 2 different browns, one light yellow/golden and a black would look amazing! And then in an ombre kind of way, omg this cardigan is going to be one of my favourites i can already tell!!!
I made a (long lol) comment above re scarves. This type of pattern can be quite bulky and not drape well for scarves if made up in worsted. I use the finer "baby weight", LOVE Baby Bernat, and a size H/8-5mm hook to create a more supple textile for scarves, shrugs and shawls. A nice little shrug [simple triangle, one motif bottom row, 3 on the next, increasing by 2 each row until piece measures about 45"-50" across (try on as you go, I have broad shoulders), add a nice shell pattern border all round to finish] would make a lovely donation to someone in a nursing home or hospice and would be a nice way to honor your mother's memory.😊
When my mother taught me how to crochet decades ago, she never included the chain the loop is coming out of in her count. I always wondered how my stitches were always off count. This explains SO many of my weird looking afghans. Thank you so much!
Que lindo homenaje a su hermana y que fácil y hermoso trabajo. Estoy usando el modelo para tejer una frazada para mi hija , gracias por compartir y enseñar este trabajo. Saludos desde Chile ❤
Well, I have never seen this stitch before and I plan to use it for my friend who, like you, is a cat lover. I happen to have had dogs the last 20+ years, but I love cats as well.
I’m a dog lover too and only recently got my first cat a couple of years ago. I’m very grateful to my Sadie (border/saint Bernard mix) for letting me bring them in. Especially since they like to sleep on her 😆😅❤️

Thank you so much for this lovely idea. My effort uses black, tan and white, foundation row black, then a row of tan, black, tan, black, white in the center and then mirror image 4 more rows of cats. Finish with a row of black. Makes a beautiful wall hanging!!
I love this stitch and can't wait to use it! I like the wavy side and usually add it as a border to the rest of the project, particularly on blankets, but also on washcloths and at least on the opposite end on scarves.
my aunt gave me a box full of her fiance's mom's yarn, she used to crochet as well and they have around 12 cats in their place, i so plan to do a tiny blanket or something with all of their kitties! thank you for the video!

O.m.g it's beautiful can't wait to try this stitch. I have 4 cats myself and 3 stray babies that I give food to.... I love cats , they can be great company and lovable too.
Absolutely!😻😻😻
Oh I am going to make my husband a scarf for his birthday, he is such a cat lover, he has 3 cats and including me will be 4 cats😹Thank you for sharing this lovely cat pattern with us🥰🧶🐾
Happy birthday! 😻 He’s going to love it, no doubt 😀
I'm thinking about making a blanket with this stitch and a dishcloth for someone who loves cats. Thanks for sharing.
Oh , that will be lovely 😽😽
I started my own project with your video because it was way easier than a different one I tried, and when I returned to this video, I had to laugh. I'm using the same colors in the same order! Hobby Lobby YarnBee DK soft in Ivory, Pumpkin and Black. So cute!!
Hahaha , that’s awesome! 🧶😻
Very cute pattern and the tutorial was easy to follow. Thanks.
I believe this may be the perrrrrfect stitch for the lap robe I plan to make as a bingo prize for the care facility where my sister lives. Happy stitches to all!
Fabulous, yes!!! 😻🧶
Absolutely Beautiful ❤❤
Thank you! 😻
I love this stitch almost the same as granny stitch. That was always main stitch for me, i liked using granny and doing c2c. Thank you for the video ❤
Wonderful! ❤️
Vielen Dank für das tolle Muster und die wunderbare Erklärung❣️
Sieht richtig toll aus. 👌
Thank you so much . Danke! ❤️
Thanks for the beautiful, clear instructions! I made a cute blanket for a charity with it!
Fabulous 😀👏🏻👏🏻😻
This is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Will definitely be making some projects for myself and my cat loving friends. Thanks!
Wonderful, thank you! ❤️
Already so excited to start a cardigan with this stitch, 2 different browns, one light yellow/golden and a black would look amazing! And then in an ombre kind of way, omg this cardigan is going to be one of my favourites i can already tell!!!
That’s going to be gorgeous 😍😍😻
If my mom was still alive, I would make her a scarf🧣. I never saw anyone that loved cats more than her 😻💞😻
Oh, how precious. 😻 I'm sure you miss her very much. ❤️
A scarf is an amazing idea! Down the rabbit hole I go 😂

Hhhhaa haaa cute Christmas scarfs 🧣

Wish someone would come up with a dog stitch. My two sisters are total dog people
I made a (long lol) comment above re scarves.
I made my sister a scrap yarn blanket many, many years ago using this stitch! It was the first large blanket I made. 😻
Oh that’s so lovely 🥰
When my mother taught me how to crochet decades ago, she never included the chain the loop is coming out of in her count. I always wondered how my stitches were always off count. This explains SO many of my weird looking afghans. Thank you so much!
Haha , oh that’s a lovely story. Wonky blankets are well loved too 😆👏🏻💕
Lol..I've got 3 white furboys and a tarbaby girl....so cat hair shows no matter what colour yarn I work! Love this pattern! Thanks.❤
😂😂🙌🏻🫶🏻
I really like the black cats on a white background. Would be great for a sweater and maybe the cuffs of the sleeves.
Great idea 😻
Que lindo homenaje a su hermana y que fácil y hermoso trabajo. Estoy usando el modelo para tejer una frazada para mi hija , gracias por compartir y enseñar este trabajo. Saludos desde Chile ❤
Lovely 🧶😍😻
Well, I have never seen this stitch before and I plan to use it for my friend who, like you, is a cat lover. I happen to have had dogs the last 20+ years, but I love cats as well.
I’m a dog lover too and only recently got my first cat a couple of years ago.
I’m very grateful to my Sadie (border/saint Bernard mix) for letting me bring them in. Especially since they like to sleep on her 😆😅❤️
Very easy crochet pattern stitch for blanket
Hi Roz oh my goodness I love love love this my daughter and granddaughter love cats I will make them both a scarf .thanks so much .I had ferrel cats in my back yard for years fed them and put out huts for them...a great tutorial.💝💝
So glad , Deborah! That has become my life here the past few months with feral cats . 🤗❤️
That's so special roz that they chose you.its a spiritual thing I think.💗
I have shared this with several friends who love cats!
Oh good! Thank you 😽😽
Thank you so much for this lovely idea. My effort uses black, tan and white, foundation row black, then a row of tan, black, tan, black, white in the center and then mirror image 4 more rows of cats. Finish with a row of black. Makes a beautiful wall hanging!!
What a great idea to make a wall hanging 😻😻😻
Excellent tutorial, thank you. I'm making one for my friend's Christmas.
I love this stitch and can't wait to use it! I like the wavy side and usually add it as a border to the rest of the project, particularly on blankets, but also on washcloths and at least on the opposite end on scarves.
That's a great idea! 😍
This is one of the cutest stitches I've ever seen! Excited to make something with this, thank you!
Great, so glad 😀👏🏻❤️😺
Thank you so much! My cats are my children and to be able to incorporate them on my wearables is awesome! I will do a cardigan and a hat with it!♡
Fabulous! 😀💕
This will make a great gift for the cat lovers
🙌🏻😻
Very cute. I’ll try this but finish the ones I’m working on. You are right it is a simple pattern but really cute and innovative.💖
Thank you , Shara! Have fun with your current projects 💕
I love the colour way and it is very striking.
Thank you ❤️
At the end of the video, the yarn ends look like tails! Definitely going to work that into my project using this stitch. Thanks for reaching it!
Great idea!! 😻
Love the cats and the tutorial! I am an advanced beginner and need all the help I can get 😂 I cannot wait to give this a try!
I hope you enjoy it 😺💕
my aunt gave me a box full of her fiance's mom's yarn, she used to crochet as well and they have around 12 cats in their place, i so plan to do a tiny blanket or something with all of their kitties! thank you for the video!
How lovely 😻😻😻
I love this stitch pattern!!! Thank you so much for this great tutorial! Think I'll make a cat cowl first and later make a cat blanket!! Thank you again!
Fantastic ! 😻
I love this stitch. I think I will make a pillow in the colors of my cat Mona who is a calico (I love her so much). The baby kittens are so cute!
Great idea - the kittens’ momma was my inspiration for the colors I used too. She’s a calico 🥰
I made a bag & a scarf, easy to do & if you love cats as I do you all will love it. Thank you for this pattern.
Wonderful! 😀💕
Great tutorial! I made a swatch with black and orange and it turned out great!
Wonderful! 😻😻
This is soooo cute! I’m thinking of black and gray because that’s the color of my cats. Already planning a blanket sweater and cardigan. I’m so excited!!
Perfect!!! 🥰
So cool! When I finish my current project- I am doing this one! Thank you! This is stunning 💕
Wonderful, so glad you like it 🧶😻
@@PlayHookywithMe And yes, I love cats (and horses) especially tortoise shells- the black, white & gold color play grabbed me immediately 🥰
