I love your take on how none of the "villains" appear to be the stereotypical twisted or evil monsters. And how the characters each believe that they are operating for the greater good (as they see it). but the main difference between them is the power that they possess and how they wield it. It also reminds me of the quote that "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter". So may people gloss over that, but you nailed it front and center. That's what makes this channel and your content for awesome. A 10 minute video that can make me think all day :) Thank you for these insightful reviews and personal touches with your own takes on it!

Hey, ravenlord! I think they did a great job of exploring how people respond to the pressures and obligations that come with authority. It seems to work the same as it does in reality. Eventually, some people lose their sense of morality in the process of trying to maintain control. The corrupting influence of unchecked power is on full display. Silo's "villlains" seems like normal people with good intentions and questionable means of reaching those goals.

That is the best kind of villain in my opinion, that they're acting out of thinking they're doing it for the greater good, 'cause then they're more complex - they're people, and we also like to see people who care. And it makes us question our own values and worldview.

I just watched 5 of these recaps in a row when I only intended to watch the 1… This show has been one of my standouts of the year - I eagerly awaited each weekly instalment and I became fascinated by the layered characters they have filled the show with. I loved the original characters they focused on in episode 1 and was so disappointed to discover they really had been killed (was hoping they’d come back somehow), only for more characters that grew on me to meet the same fate. I was never familiar with the books so this has all been new to me & I have avoided spoilers as I don’t want to peak before season 2 is out (which granted may be a while!). So I’m loving your recaps as a way of reminding myself of what happened and I like the way you go about explaining each episode.

I don't understand the Syndrome yet, so I hope you'll explore that in future analysis. Keep up the good work always ❤

Without spoiling too much, there is a major trope in dystopian and closed environment genres that abnormalities and disease / sickness are not tolerated very well by the general populous. I have to believe that it is a checkov's gun with a payoff, and not a throw away line line. :)

@@ravenlord4 it's actually so real 'cause it's based on evolutionary phenomenon of leaving the sick and unable behind when there are limited resources so overall more people can survive, which is the exact case with Silo.
But it's used as a tool to control the population for personal gain, 'cause if they let advanced tech to be used by everyone, a cure for it could be found at some point.
Again, realistic writing which I really enjoy.

Do you think that for shows you're gonna cover in the future that you'd be able to release a timeline? 'cause god damn, these videos are good. And for the next show I'm gonna watch that you cover on the channel, I'd love to watch it alongside your videos (I prefer to binge shows to experience the story in a continuous way).

Yeah, I am enjoying doing the recap thing quite a bit so I'll definitely do more like this for other shows. I don't have a plan yet for anything other than Severance S2, but I'm open to doing it for more shows.

I mean they really almost lost me with the Jules v Trumball fight scene. She was able to break one of his fingers while holding on to the round railing but he couldnt even loose her grip enough to get her to fall??? Cmon man
