The second Elijah had his memories returned to him, he's given up and been wanting to end his life cause of the regret that he feels for the role he played in Haley's death!! then there was a flashback where Haley and Elijah have a dance and tells him she'll be waiting for another dance. As for Klaus, he's finally getting somewhere with Caroline and has a good relationship with his daughter again!! The perfect ending for both would be Elijah sacrificing himself for the family one final time and in the afterlife Haley and Elijah have their second dance, while Caroline and Klaus travel the world, happy and in love, occasionally keeping in touch with Hope!!

You can still love that person and fall and be in love with another while going through life. It does not mean that you loved that person less or that you ever stopped.
I think the last two seasons weren't that great to begin with. Too much focus on The Hollow. And it turned out to be pointless, just killing everyone off so they could have a Hope spinoff. To me, the show was always about the family, and once they broke up the family, it just sucked from there. I do think it was better to let Klaus and Elijah go together, but we needed an afterlife scene. Elijah should have gotten his dance with Hayley and Klaus should have reunited with Cami since she was already dead, too. I also do not think it was fair to anyone shipping Klaroline at all. Stringing the fans on about their ship for so long and then not even letting them have that ending is just awful. You can't satisfy everyone with a finale, but the way they did this was just not right.
Well the main reason for.ending it so quick was that joseph morgan(Actor of Klaus) is also a director and he had enough of acting for now. However by not showing the afterlife seen. Their may be possibility of them returning in legacies season 4 since rebekah is confirmed to be there. If rebekah is there marcel will be too. If so many are coming there might a even if for 1 episode a reunion of the whole family

And then we don’t get to get who they reunite with the in the afterlife. What about Cami and Hayley? We never got this ending they keep pushing onto us. So yes Klaroline should have been endgame or at least show that it will be endgame eventually when they're both ready

I came to terms to losing Klaus because the actor said he wouldn't be returning to play this character again. So we knew he was going to sacrifice himself to save Hope but what didn't see coming was Elijah also dying and Rebekah deciding to become human only to die as well in the future.

Elijah dies and we see him in the afterlife dancing with hayley. Klaus lives and loves his daughter who does not have to be an orphan. He loves hope and trusts her. He reunites with caroline and they decide to leave together for a while to see the world paris, rome, tokyo. Everyone lives happily ever after. The end

My main gripe is that the deaths doesn't make sense. You Rob a powerful tribrid being in her young teenage years BOTH of her parents. You said during the last season that the HOLLOW can never be killed. Now all of a sudden, Klaus's sacrifice was enough? Why wasn't killing true original Hollow in her own body enough? I’m not mad about the ending at all! I’m a huge Elijah fan. I like Klaus but love Elijah. Anyway, with Klaus taking matters into his own hands and the Hollow being in him what was Elijah supposed to do? It’s been said before how Elijah is always there for Klaus. So for once Klaus tries to get Elijah to move on and be happy with Antoinette. He finally realizes how much Elijah has sacrificed for him. It’s a beautiful thing that Klaus finally puts others ahead of himself. Elijah has said from S1e1 that he would give his life to protect Hope. He has offered many times in her life to sacrifice himself so she could be safe and have her father. He swore over a thousand years ago to be there for Klaus and protect him. I honestly can’t picture him doing anything other than what he did. Walk with his brother into whatever comes next, together “as always”

She went knowing she would die that is not like Katherine at all so in a way she changed for Nadia. I think if it were a stand alone series and not a spinoff, it would be canceled the first season. But because it's a spinoff, my guess, it might last past season one just due to the basic fanbase checking it out. But I thought the trailer sucked. I wasn't impressed. I'm not that impressed with the actress playing Hope now. And the story is way too similar to The Gifted and X Men and a million other shows. We really don't need another supernatural school. The eps that will get ratings will be any they have TVD or TO characters guest in. Beyond that, I think it looks weak. I really don't want to watch another Plec show. I think it's a bad idea.

True I completely forgot about Bonenzo. He died for no reason. Like literally, why kill him if Bonnie could just see him sometimes. Why not give Bonnie a happy ending being able to have the power to bring back Enzo at the end. Weren’t the shows over though? Why do they need to be alive if the shows are finished? Crying at their impossible to believe death is much better than seeing that Klaus has still somehow again after 500 episodes escaped Death again. The fact he’s really gone made it that impactful for me. And totally Shock that Elijah went out with his brother because he didn’t see a future like he saw for everyone else. The brother bond is what the show is about IMO. And it finished that way. It finally one of the one tv shows I actually felt closure for. It didn’t get left with all these questions. And now there is Legacies to continue the Hope story. And watch she’s will have some Klaus in her. Can’t wait to start the season.

FIRST, the originals was never meant to be a sappy romance flick like tvd was. It was about FAMILY. Always and forever. It makes total sense that Klaus and Elijah went out together like they did. Even if it wasn’t necessary for the 2 of them to die, there’s no way either of them would have abandoned their brother in the final moments. It’s poetically tragic but beautiful nonetheless. (Can’t say the same for tvd.) SECOND, ship baiting is the oldest trick in the book. Any fan should know that Julie Plec has a painfully obvious history with it. (See Bamon in final tvd seasons) She’s also been clear that since a large portion of the Klaroline fandom has always been obnoxious and rude (understatement) to the point of sending death threats to other actors/actresses, that it would’ve been their fault Klaroline didn’t happen. Woman is just following through. Overall I’m unsatisfied with the many plot holes and loose ends the show wrapped up with, but I’ll take it. Writing was becoming shoddy and reckless.. like, I’m still at a loss as to why Hayley even had to die or why we had precious plot lines go to (mostly) pointless characters like Declan/Antoinette. ...But after tvd’s ending, I’ll take this. God I’ll take it. Leave the ‘did they or did they not find peace’ to everyone’s interpretation.

I couldn't agree more with your comment regarding Klaroline/Fans. Caroline had know real reason to be inserted in to the show. If it was just a ratings ploy than Julie Plec is brilliant. Unfortunately, much of Season 5 was wasted on new characters and dull plotlines. However, Elijah and Klaus' deaths made sense to me. Elijah died being totally devoted to Klaus which was the story of his life. Klaus died saving his daughter which is the ultimate sacrifice a parent can make. That part of Season 5 was beautiful. The rest was rather lackluster.

Can’t really blame them, but I always appreciate when producers have the courage to go with what makes the most sense for a story than giving into the fan’s whims. It makes SENSE that Klaus and Elijah died together and Becks would become human. It’s what their characters were built on. Hayley was my favorite character and I still believe her death could have been avoided. It would have made narrative sense but I’m not over here throwing a hissy fit just because I don’t like it. As for Caroline, I agree. She was my favorite in tvd but there was no point in having her in so many episodes aside from fan service. Julie was completely transparent about it being nothing more. I mean, even in the supposed Klaroline scenes you have Caroline wearing her wedding ring on full display and you have Klaus reminiscing on how wonderful Cami was. And... on top of that, Caroline goes and says she never understood art, which from a literary standpoint says A LOT about her relationship with Klaus.

I lost respect for Julie Plec. I read that she said in an interview that no one really killed good characters in Hollywood and that when she killed Vicki (in tvd) in 6th serious (they were the first ones to kill a good character), everyone suddenly started to notice the show. She wants to create big big reactions in the people who are watching the serious. And she knowing, that the majority of the people who watch this are teens, and the majority of the teens feel lonely so they get attached very easily to things. So her knowing the strong bond that people had with Klaus, of course she was going to kill him. She wants people to be devastated so they remember the show for more time. And that's a bit twisted. Like she wants this reaction from us, but does she get how much it really hurts? To see your favourite character who you got attached to, just die?
I don't think Julie really gets the concept of redemption if she believes it can only be achieved by death, Klaus had proved in the past that he could sacrificed for his family God he missed most of his daughters life because of that, dying and leaving her alone when he had a choice, when only one of them had to it's just cruel. It would've been like if in the tvd ending both Stefan and Damon died when only one had to sacrificed. And the worst part it's that Klaus wanted to live, suicide doesn't fits him it's just weird he sacrificed before but killing himself it's just wrong??? I cried. It was a beautiful moment between two brothers. I saw the closeness I had with my brother before he past in these two characters and he just made me miss that bond. I cried for it was honorably and just a true statement of brotherhood. "I stand with you, forever till the end". R.I.P

I actually liked the ending. If klaus lived it would be in a way a happy ending and happu endings dont really exist in the real world. But they should have put a afterlife scene like in the vampire dairies where klaus finds peace with cam and Elijah had his dance with Hayley.

😭😭😭 I cried so much during this season. This show, for me, definitely had one of the saddest finales ever. I just am disappointed that both Klaus and Elijah died, I would've preferred that Elijah stopped him and took his place like he wanted and that we saw him dancing with Haley in the afterlife. The Legacies is gonna be like TVD because Hope falls in love with a Human and she isn’t able to tell him her secret. Once he finds out chaos might happen. Tvd Elena falls in love with an immortal (Stefan) and once Elena finds out Stefan is a vampire, chaos happens also.
I wanted to see Klaus and Hayley standing together watching over Hope knowing she will be fine, with proud smiled aimed at their daughter. Klaus, Hayley and Hope all deserved at least one scene where all are togher in her teenage years.

Just watched the season finale and what the hell are we talking about?! I mean, klaus died for nothing, he spent like a month with his daughter if we add all the times in which he wasn't away for some reasons. The perfect ending would have been Elijah taking Klaus' place at the end of 5x12 and in the finale episode Elijah reunion with Hayley and Klaus finally being endgame with Caroline. They had to kill Klaus just to start Legacies, where the actor probably wasn't going to be. It just makes me sad that it was so so easy to create a beautiful finale that would have made everybody happy and yet they screwed everything up. Absolutely disappointed

The second Elijah had his memories returned to him, he's given up and been wanting to end his life cause of the regret that he feels for the role he played in Haley's death!! then there was a flashback where Haley and Elijah have a dance and tells him she'll be waiting for another dance. As for Klaus, he's finally getting somewhere with Caroline and has a good relationship with his daughter again!! The perfect ending for both would be Elijah sacrificing himself for the family one final time and in the afterlife Haley and Elijah have their second dance, while Caroline and Klaus travel the world, happy and in love, occasionally keeping in touch with Hope!!

I think the last two seasons weren't that great to begin with. Too much focus on The Hollow. And it turned out to be pointless, just killing everyone off so they could have a Hope spinoff. To me, the show was always about the family, and once they broke up the family, it just sucked from there. I do think it was better to let Klaus and Elijah go together, but we needed an afterlife scene. Elijah should have gotten his dance with Hayley and Klaus should have reunited with Cami since she was already dead, too. I also do not think it was fair to anyone shipping Klaroline at all. Stringing the fans on about their ship for so long and then not even letting them have that ending is just awful. You can't satisfy everyone with a finale, but the way they did this was just not right.

Well the main reason for.ending it so quick was that joseph morgan(Actor of Klaus) is also a director and he had enough of acting for now. However by not showing the afterlife seen. Their may be possibility of them returning in legacies season 4 since rebekah is confirmed to be there. If rebekah is there marcel will be too. If so many are coming there might a even if for 1 episode a reunion of the whole family

I came to terms to losing Klaus because the actor said he wouldn't be returning to play this character again. So we knew he was going to sacrifice himself to save Hope but what didn't see coming was Elijah also dying and Rebekah deciding to become human only to die as well in the future.

He reunites with caroline and they decide to leave together for a while to see the world paris, rome, tokyo. Everyone lives happily ever after. The end

Anyway, with Klaus taking matters into his own hands and the Hollow being in him what was Elijah supposed to do? It’s been said before how Elijah is always there for Klaus. So for once Klaus tries to get Elijah to move on and be happy with Antoinette. He finally realizes how much Elijah has sacrificed for him. It’s a beautiful thing that Klaus finally puts others ahead of himself.
Elijah has said from S1e1 that he would give his life to protect Hope. He has offered many times in her life to sacrifice himself so she could be safe and have her father. He swore over a thousand years ago to be there for Klaus and protect him. I honestly can’t picture him doing anything other than what he did. I think, since no one really dies or stays dead on these shows, we might see Klaus or the others again, probably as guests for one off eps on Legacies, if the show lasts long enough.

I think if it were a stand alone series and not a spinoff, it would be canceled the first season. But because it's a spinoff, my guess, it might last past season one just due to the basic fanbase checking it out. But I thought the trailer sucked. I wasn't impressed. I'm not that impressed with the actress playing Hope now. And the story is way too similar to The Gifted and X Men and a million other shows. We really don't need another supernatural school. The eps that will get ratings will be any they have TVD or TO characters guest in. Beyond that, I think it looks weak. I really don't want to watch another Plec show. I think it's a bad idea.

I feel like they just didn't get what the fans wanted or they just didn't care or they just didn't wanna relate it to TVD finale which disappointed as well sad to say. I don't friggin' care about the length of the show, I'll watch them for 2 hours if i could. They should've made the finale longer just to get in all the stuff we ACTUALLY wanted such as the afterlife which would've been amazing to see and just give us piece of mind. And they deleted the Klaroline tour of New Orleans scene only to release it a day after -.- I feel sorry for every most ships of both shows they've been disappointed completely. Steroline: Stefan DIED. Haylijah: Just royally fucked over. Klamille: Cami DIED TOO. Delena: Said 0 words to each other in the finale Klaroline: One kiss in the finale and a hook up in the woods with over 15 years of on and off flirting. Jolaric: She DIED TOO. If there's more which I'm sure there is but they've royally screwed us over for some parts.

The ending I was hoping to was Elijah would die, and he gets his last dance. Klaus is still alive and he’s happy with his daughter and Caroline, and they are remembering those two or they are on graveyard and putting flower or whatevs. I HATE THIS ENDING. Klaus deserved to better know his daughter, bcz after all those things, they got thru it. He just deserves. Spending years watching and this is my thank u for watching TDV and The Originals. Honestly I would’ve been ok with Elijah’s death IF I got to see him find peace with Hayley. But Klaus... I cant find any way to be ok with him dying. ESPECIALLY when we don’t see him find peace
That ending was soo wrong in many ways. It was a slap in the face for Haylijah and Klaroline. Klaus deserved better they could have had him finally be free to be happy with Caroline. But Julie killed both and didnt even give them happiness. She abused the fandom and sfter this Legacies wont have support of those fanbases.

I don't think we should blame every on Julie because it's not like she's the sole writer of both shows. There's other writers, when Stefan died we all blamed it on her but it was Kevin who said Stefan should die. I think to let the actors move on you had to have their characters die

Weren’t the shows over though? Why do they need to be alive if the shows are finished? Crying at their impossible to believe death is much better than seeing that Klaus has still somehow again after 500 episodes escaped Death again. The fact he’s really gone made it that impactful for me. And totally Shock that Elijah went out with his brother because he didn’t see a future like he saw for everyone else. The brother bond is what the show is about IMO. And it finished that way. It finally one of the one tv shows I actually felt closure for. It didn’t get left with all these questions. And now there is Legacies to continue the Hope story. And watch she’s will have some Klaus in her. Can’t wait to start the season.
I feel like the writers forgot about the finale until a few days before it was time to film so they just slapped in the end of The Vampire Diaries but changed the reasoning and a few details. Both sets of brothers die in the end and both “want to do ‘it’ together” 😤😤🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I hate that Klaus said what kinda father would he be to let another man die for his child? I was like A GOOD ONE. A good father doesn't leave his daughter as a 15 year old orphan. The show ended with Klaus being a sucky father who left his daughter behind for the third time and for good too.

FIRST, the originals was never meant to be a sappy romance flick like tvd was. It was about FAMILY. Always and forever. It makes total sense that Klaus and Elijah went out together like they did. Even if it wasn’t necessary for the 2 of them to die, there’s no way either of them would have abandoned their brother in the final moments. It’s poetically tragic but beautiful nonetheless.
(Can’t say the same for tvd.)
SECOND, ship baiting is the oldest trick in the book. Any fan should know that Julie Plec has a painfully obvious history with it. (See Bamon in final tvd seasons) She’s also been clear that since a large portion of the Klaroline fandom has always been obnoxious and rude (understatement) to the point of sending death threats to other actors/actresses, that it would’ve been their fault Klaroline didn’t happen. Woman is just following through.
Overall I’m unsatisfied with the many plot holes and loose ends the show wrapped up with, but I’ll take it. Writing was becoming shoddy and reckless.. like, I’m still at a loss as to why Hayley even had to die or why we had precious plot lines go to (mostly) pointless characters like Declan/Antoinette.
...But after tvd’s ending, I’ll take this. God I’ll take it. Leave the ‘did they or did they not find peace’ to everyone’s interpretation.
22amih I agree with your entire comment. The Originals was always about family. That was the only real Love Story Julie Plec owed anything. I couldn't agree more with your comment regarding Klaroline/Fans. Caroline had know real reason to be inserted in to the show. If it was just a ratings ploy than Julie Plec is brilliant. Unfortunately, much of Season 5 was wasted on new characters and dull plotlines. However, Elijah and Klaus' deaths made sense to me. Elijah died being totally devoted to Klaus which was the story of his life. Klaus died saving his daughter which is the ultimate sacrifice a parent can make. That part of Season 5 was beautiful. The rest was rather lackluster.
No_Fan_Girl No_Fan_Girl YES. I feel like most fans that are upset are Klaroline or hardcore Klaus fans that obviously didn’t want him to go. Can’t really blame them, but I always appreciate when producers have the courage to go with what makes the most sense for a story than giving into the fan’s whims. It makes SENSE that Klaus and Elijah died together and Becks would become human. It’s what their characters were built on. Hayley was my favorite character and I still believe her death could have been avoided. It would have made narrative sense but I’m not over here throwing a hissy fit just because I don’t like it.
As for Caroline, I agree. She was my favorite in tvd but there was no point in having her in so many episodes aside from fan service. Julie was completely transparent about it being nothing more. I mean, even in the supposed Klaroline scenes you have Caroline wearing her wedding ring on full display and you have Klaus reminiscing on how wonderful Cami was. And... on top of that, Caroline goes and says she never understood art, which from a literary standpoint says A LOT about her relationship with Klaus.
I get what she tried to do but it grew beyond the brothers. if they killed Hayley allow Klaus to live or vise versa, Hope did not need to become an orphan to build on a new show!!!! I hate this show and it hasn't even started!!!

I was really disappointed because I'm a die hard shipper of Klaroline and I really wanted them together but all together I am happy that Klaus and Elijah died together and hopefully found peace #alwaysandforever #klaroline
I lost respect for Julie Plec. I read that she said in an interview that no one really killed good characters in Hollywood and that when she killed Vicki (in tvd) in 6th serious (they were the first ones to kill a good character), everyone suddenly started to notice the show. She wants to create big big reactions in the people who are watching the serious. And she knowing, that the majority of the people who watch this are teens, and the majority of the teens feel lonely so they get attached very easily to things. So her knowing the strong bond that people had with Klaus, of course she was going to kill him. She wants people to be devastated so they remember the show for more time. And that's a bit twisted.
Like she wants this reaction from us, but does she get how much it really hurts? To see your favourite character who you got attached to, just die?
I don't think Julie really gets the concept of redemption if she believes it can only be achieved by death, Klaus had proved in the past that he could sacrificed for his family God he missed most of his daughters life because of that, dying and leaving her alone when he had a choice, when only one of them had to it's just cruel. It would've been like if in the tvd ending both Stefan and Damon died when only one had to sacrificed. And the worst part it's that Klaus wanted to live, suicide doesn't fits him it's just weird he sacrificed before but killing himself it's just wrong??? I don't know, I didn't like how they build that up.
What really pissed me off was that the whole reason to kill Klaus and Hayley was to have an oprhan Hope to star Legacies. Julie Plec keeps puting money over true fans. AND MY KLAROLINE.

Klaus deserves to live. Hope needs her father after everything that she’s been through. She deserves someone that cares and loves for her. Their development as father and daughter is beautiful. Klaus didn’t even get an endgame with caroline either!! After Julie promised us multiple times!!!! The time they spent together was indeed amazing, but he wasn’t her last love, she was his😭 but we all know that they do love each other and that klaroline is forever. After she finds peace after a long life, I believe that they will find each other again💓❤️
I respect Julie still and I know that she’s the writer so she’s in control. We shouldn’t be bashing or hating her too much because without her, there would be no tvd or to, aka the best shows ever! However, I think the ending could’ve been executed way better for us as viewers. We all love a happy ending for our characters and that’s not what we received. I cried. It was a beautiful moment between two brothers. I saw the closeness I had with my brother before he past in these two characters and he just made me miss that bond. I cried for it was honorably and just a true statement of brotherhood. "I stand with you, forever till the end". R.I.P

Well Julie kind of made fans upset with how THE VAMPIRE DIARIES ended as well. This is no surprise to me. She's making this into a habit along with the other writers Creators and network team. 😭😭😭 I cried so much during this season. This show, for me, definitely had one of the saddest finales ever. I just am disappointed that both Klaus and Elijah died, I would've preferred that Elijah stopped him and took his place like he wanted and that we saw him dancing with Haley in the afterlife. Can't wait for Legacies.
The Legacies is gonna be like TVD because Hope falls in love with a Human and she isn’t able to tell him her secret. Once he finds out chaos might happen. Tvd Elena falls in love with an immortal (Stefan) and once Elena finds out Stefan is a vampire, chaos happens also.
I wanted to see Klaus and Hayley standing together watching over Hope knowing she will be fine, with proud smiled aimed at their daughter. Klaus, Hayley and Hope all deserved at least one scene where all are togher in her teenage years.

Just watched the season finale and what the hell are we talking about?! I mean, klaus died for nothing, he spent like a month with his daughter if we add all the times in which he wasn't away for some reasons. The perfect ending would have been Elijah taking Klaus' place at the end of 5x12 and in the finale episode Elijah reunion with Hayley and Klaus finally being endgame with Caroline.
They had to kill Klaus just to start Legacies, where the actor probably wasn't going to be. It just makes me sad that it was so so easy to create a beautiful finale that would have made everybody happy and yet they screwed everything up. Absolutely disappointed
