So Elijah was able to hone his skills and gain real world power and not just power based on his age, in a sense.
Elijah absolutely carries the entire spinoff show, and in TVD he's the only ancient vampire that actually acts like an ancient vampire. Compare that to Lexi and his vengeful lover, the absolute worst offenders of the show, and how they talk like contemporary teenagers. Seriously, a 300+ years old vampire doesn't call their eternal lover and companion a freaking "girlfriend". xD

He said those people wouldn’t die by his brothers hands, but said nothing about his own. Then again with turning the house into a landmark making it eminent domain. He’s smart, that’s what makes him scarier. Klaus is brute force. Elijah may be slower to act but he’s tactical and strategic and in the end his way ends up making the biggest impact

Elijah is incredibly powerful. He is calm, unlike Klaus. I am not saying Klaus is weak, but sometimes he is all threats and bark, but no bite. Elijah is a bit of a dark horse. You don't know what he will do until it is too late. Needless to say.... Elijah is my favourite and the best out of all of them.
