The fashions are labeled because the dolls have different body types! Barbie, Nichelle, Ana and Lara have the standard adult Barbie body and have high heel feet. Tori, Chelsea and Mari came on the Teen Skipper body, which was slightly shorter and with less ahem, curves and had flat feet!
Interesting! I have the Dance Party Chelsie in the 2 piece outfit but I had to give her some sandals. Still has her necklace though!

I love Nichelle and all of the fashion packs in Generation girl were so fun. Also Blaine’s original face sculpt is so unique.
Yes!!! Nichelle is great! And I want some of the fashion packs too! Hopefully soon. Blaine’s sculpt is so cool! And was originally meant to be skippers boyfriend Zach for the totally yo yo line!
Generation girl is my absolute favorite Barbie line, I was absolutely obsessed with them as a kid (and obsessed now, too duh 🙋🏼♂️) I own them all in each series and the fashion packs and the school, of course!
The Top Model fade out for Chelsie is killing me 😅😅😅

Loved these dolls they were so modern and unique compared to the other Barbie play line dolls. I have I think all first wave, few second wave and only two rooms.

I will say this, I love Nichelle because I think her outfits are so cool. Also, I think you should review the Mystery Squad dolls.
The crazy part was Blaine became Australian and stole Barbie away from Ken when they broke up during that time.
Yes I want to talk about mystery squad!! Apparently some unused generation girl fashions are found in muster squad!! And I love that Blaine has stuck around in the Barbie verse for so long!
I laughed so hard when Nichelle fell out of the chair, I'm glad you kept that in hahaha. But her second outfit is DEFINITELY my fave for sure!

Generation Girl was probably the first playline I paid attention to since their accessories came in regular mainstream colors and not everything was pink plastic. The facial screening looked more realistic as well instead of the large eyes and stars painted on the dolls of that era. Each doll also came with their own unique outfits instead of a variation of Barbies. I was sad Really Rad was cancelled, but I was able to get 2 out the outfits from My Design Barbie. I have the Nichelle outfit as well as Teresa's. I believe they also reused her body for Very Velvet Barbie.
Yes!!! They really wanted these dolls to be as relatable and believable as possible! Oh I have to look up my design Barbie!!!! Wow!!! I didn’t know that !!
I have almost all of the characters of this line, I'm only missing Mariko because every time I find one she's beyond repair so I have passed.
The initial launch of the girls was controversial with parents because of the tattoos and piercings some of the dolls had and you know there's nothing that rails up Karens more than alternative fashion and multiple ethnicities... XDDDD
The original Chelsie had a nose ring, Tori had multiple earrings on the upper part of her ears and of course Barbie's ankle tattoo, so they were recalled in the US and produced again without them, but in Europe the more alternative looking dolls were sold without issue...
Mine have the piercings but my Barbie is the dance one so she no longer had the tattoo, only the first run of wave 1 had all the alternative details after that they suppressed them.
These were a slow seller for Mattel back then that's why they didn't last long, many of them were still being sold in discount retailers here in Europe for many years afterwards as apparently Mattel had lots of dead stock still, I remember buying My room Blaine for five Euros at a local grocery shop in around 2010 I still have that one to this day.
All of mine have been thrifted and bought for one or 2 Euros tops (except for Blaine) so I don't have all of their pieces.
I actually like their bodies as thy also all have manicures and painted rings in random fingers something very common in fashion at the time...
The over sized slouchy backpack was a thing back in the 90's we somehow thought that having the backpack slapping you in the ass as you walk was so trendy and cool looking for a while... XDDD
Ha!!! Both of my Tori’s have the 3 piercings on her ear!! I really hope I can get more of the GG dolls! I’d love to find a Barbie w the ankle tattoo! I’m so glad you have so many of them and got them all for good deals!!!!
@@dolls2remember It's a matter of patience I am sure if you start thrifting for them you can also find them cheap as they were produced by the thousands and specially on the US where the market for dolls is even bigger than here, there must be lots of them around still, also over there inbox collectors are way more common than in Europe as here houses are smaller so people don't have the space it takes to have hundreds of dolls in boxes like over there... :D check if your Chelsie has the faux ear extenders they were big circular earrings that kinda look like a screw's head...
This line was launched when Mattel's quality was at it's peak and I am almost certain they won't reach those levels ever again as they no longer consider themselves a toy manufacturer but an IP company according to their CEO, so quality means nothing to them anymore, it's all about merch and brands for them now in their business model.
I had the first wave of these dolls plus I got Mari too. My sister had the second wave plus Blaine and the bedroom. I still have my dolls, the fashions were awesome

I loved these dolls as a kid! I only owned Tori. I thought they were so cool because they didn't look like Barbie buy each had their own personality and look. They stood out on the shelves.

These are really cool, something about the colour schemes in the outfits is really interesting. They're colourful but not too bright or harsh on the eye. The room sets are amazing 😮
Yes!! It really is a new color pallet for Barbie and lots of detail! The rooms are so cool and nostalgic!
I loved this line, got them when I was almost too old for dolls so I took really good care of them and still have all the accessories. The only character I didn’t get was Nichelle (I suspect she was hard to find, as was the trend for Black dolls in Northern Europe at the time) and today she is my Grail doll.

I had the whole second wave (minus Blaine lol) Tori was the first one my mom bought me and she came with a book which I read like 6 times. I adored these and now I think I’ll get them again😍

I never had a generation girl but i always wanted one. They came after I had already given my barbie dolls away so I wouldn't get back into dolls again until bratz. But i think they evolved into my scene by that time.
I guess i really like Tori because she is the typical blonde hair blue eyed barbie and her look was more the style i wanted to wear. I did enjoy the website though even if I didn't have one.

Pretty sure my barbie has the tattoo, Ill have to check when i get them out my lock up. I got the full 1st set as well as some of the fashions, all very carefully played with and then stored.

Great video and awesome collection!!! So glad I finally checked out your channel 😁😁😁I just wanted to note though that the fashion packs were out of order the “first edition” one is actual the third edition one and you can tell because the my room dolls are wearing those outfits. The “second wave” i believe is the first and the “last wave” is actually the second wave I think or those two might have came out around the same time bc the dance party dolls are shown wearing those fashion packs. Personally I like to call them first wave fashion packs, dance party fashion packs and my room fashion packs just to differentiate them lol. Unfortunately Chelsie does not have any fashion packs which is sad because I know they would have been amazing and also Ana only has one! 😢Also what’s funny is I pronounce Nichelle’s name differently not sure if I’ve been pronouncing it wrong this whole time haha XD

I have Barbie My Room as a Christmas gift. I wanted Tori (because of the pigtails), and Ana (because she looks closest to me). I still have Barbie and her room, but the accessories are gone 😔 If the dolls sold on ebay were reasonably priced, I would definitely get Ana's, Lara's and Nichelle's My Room 😍

@@dolls2remember i got my maxie doll today. She is gorgeous. She has reddish blonde long hair. I'm so glad she's in good condition. But her shorts are a little big for her body. But that's not a problem. I have other Barbie clothes that will fit her.

Now i could make wrestlers with my maxie dolls. My maxie doll also came with hot pink sneakers. That's a plus. Because i don't really have shoes for my Barbie dolls. I have 1 pair of white sneakers and 2 pairs of high heels for Barbie. I have 2 pairs of white sneakers for my ken dolls.

You seem like an advent collector.. and behind you i see boxed and unboxed dolls… what’s your opinion on unboxing collectibles and do you choose what to open and what to keep shut?
Lately I’ve been intentionally purchasing preciously out of box stuff if I know I want to display it out of box. Or if there is something I want but the box is super demanded then I’ll usually take it out. If I feel like something is super rare and hard to come by I usually like to keep it in box :) but overall it is kinda random how I decide lol
Would you happen to know if Generation girl Mari used Kanekalon hair , or Saran?
I’m so sorry but I don’t know!!! I do think a lot of the generation girl dolls do have kanekalon though! I think both my Tori’s do and my Ana does.
