Thanks guys just bought this unit yesterday my dealer said first 20 hr service would be a 280 dollar charge and suggested to let them do it for warranty purposes, but you only get a 6 month warranty anyway so I may save the 100 dollar an hour labor charge and do it myself so thanks this was very helpful.
Great video. I changed my oil yesterday and I had to take my oil filter off with big pair of channellocks also. Must have been the same guy that torqued yours down that tightened mine. 😂
Flip the bed up and reach in there on the passenger side and twist the filter off by hand or a pipe wrench. Add 3 and 1/2 quarts start engine up let it get up over 200deg wait 10 min then check oil without screwing the dipstick in. If everything was drained good it will be right at the very top of the hash marks. I have done this multiple times always perfect with 3.5 quarts
I don't pull the panel off for th oil filter at all. Just access it straight from the back. You can look through the top and reach around the back of that panel, in front of rear tire. Use a slip-joint oil wrench or a strap type.
Great video. Changing the oil on mine next week, first service. Don't have the manual with me. From the video I saw I'd need 3 qts of the ATV 75/90 and 4 qts of engine oil. What grade? Thanks
I filled my engine oil through the hole on top of the engine near the spark plugs I didn't even see the oil reservoir off to the side I hope it's alright that I did this I added just as much oil as what came out. Just over 2 quarts.
Question: So there are two drain plugs for the engine oil - 1 for the tank and 1 for the oil pan underneath? Also, it looked like the diffs and trans take the same gear oil? You explained the procedure much better than the manual does.
Just bought a 2020 Wolverine X2. Trying to get the right side rear panel off. Yamaha saw fit to give me an extra bolt, only it's from the back side behind the seat. Any suggestion as to how I can get this off without cutting it? The panel won't come off with that "backward" bolt/ screw there. Also, what is the filter number for the oil filter? That's the whole reason I was taking the panel off to begin with.
You can reach behind the seat and get it, It's tight , I just did mine today, The whole thing was easy until I got to the oil filter,,,One guy on here says you can get to the oil filter from the bottom , I'll try that next time.....
I know this is an old comment, but for anyone else, you don't need to take that panel off at all. You can access the filter by reaching around the back side of that panel. I use a slip joint oil wrench or a strap type would work, also. What ever you do DON'T take that screw behind the seat off. Pain in the butt and no need. I have a bright piece of yellow tape with NO written on it just to remind myself.
@@OffroadTrolls I know this is very old and the machine is gone . But the filter is very easy . Reach in front of the rear tire and you can easily reach it with a regular wrench no need to take that panel off . Just did mine today .
That's probably because they used the automotive formula of Mobil 1, which is Energy/Resource Conserving. Mobil 1 0W40 EU Formula doesn't have those additives. I have 11K miles on my wet clutch using Mobil 1 EU/European Car formula.
Yamalube is a great high quality oil The factory race teams use it. I recommend MPT motorcycle oil. It has no petroleum base stocks. Its made with ester and PAO base stock. Id like to use amsoil but they wont say if their oil is petroleum or synthetic. Btw, oils in the USA can say they are synthetic but its only highly refined petroleum oil. Only ester and PAO are true synthetic oil I run MPT in my R1 and shifting is butter smooth. I run the same oil all summer and do some track days. I send in a oil sample to Blackstone labs for analysis and it comes back saying the oil TBN shows it can be used for 4 times more than i use it. Thats a whole year and track riding for an entire day with rpms at redline for 20 mins at a time mptindustries.com/product-category/full-synthetic-high-performance-motorcycle-oil/

Glad to help, that’s why we made it! 😎

Thank you, I followed your video as I did the service on my 2020 X2 XTR. Very much appreciated! Made it easy
Thank you! That’s why we made the video, to help others

Great video guys. A lot better then reading the stupid manual when I have to do my first service in a couple weeks. 👍👍

Thanks for the video guys. It helps us newbies a lot. Will definitely be watching this when I do my own services. Thanks again.
More videos of this machine are in the works
Good video....some of us appreciate it. I'll hopefully be picking one up in a week or two.
Be thankful that engine guard comes with the wolverine stock . Other brands you have to buy them .

I believe we used amsoil 10w 40 think it was closer to 3 and a half of engine oil
What do you guys think of the heater system. I have one, and it sucks. Yamaha said the heater wasn't designed for cold weather. (in Canada) WTF?
Great video on the service of Wolverine X2.
I filled my engine oil through the hole on top of the engine near the spark plugs I didn't even see the oil reservoir off to the side I hope it's alright that I did this I added just as much oil as what came out. Just over 2 quarts.
It holds 3 1/2 quarts with a filter change
Do you have a spark plug change video?
what and where did you get all the gaskets for the drain bolts
no mention of crush washers
No mention about blowing out vent lines
Question: So there are two drain plugs for the engine oil - 1 for the tank and 1 for the oil pan underneath? Also, it looked like the diffs and trans take the same gear oil? You explained the procedure much better than the manual does.
Actually there are 3 drain plugs one in the oil tank and 2 right next to each other underneath, yes the trans and diffs took the same fluid
I have a 2019 and for the first 20 hr service it wants you to check valve clearance. Would be interested in that part
Great video guys helped me alot
Glad it helped, more videos of this machine are on the way
Is the XTR 4 the same process? Same locations?
Don’t you void the warranty if you do not use Yama lube?
NO using Amsoil will not void your warranty. From an Amsoil dealer !1

Yamaha makes it easy for oil change
Oil yes..... filter not so much!

Yes, that's how we do ours also. @ChaoticDave69
I like to wash mine first and clean everything. This guy def is no dealer maint type guy.
Is that oil ok for the wet clutch, I've heard of people using mobile 1 and taking out the wet clutch
That's probably because they used the automotive formula of Mobil 1, which is Energy/Resource Conserving. Mobil 1 0W40 EU Formula doesn't have those additives. I have 11K miles on my wet clutch using Mobil 1 EU/European Car formula.
Great video!
Yamaha actually requires 80W 90 in transmission and diffs
I had to stab my original oil filter with a screwdriver to get it off
I don't see any SAFETY GLASSES my friend, only have 2 eyes
Wtf oil filter hella tight and yes channel lock to remove...why so tight

You don't have to remove any of that plastic to get the filter lol. Not one piece
thanks... I'll just crawl under. That's a lot easier.
I just reached in from in front of the back tire, the original filter was tight as heck on mine too!
Fantastic video. Helped a lot. Ignore the sjws in the comments that think its their way of doing things or the highway.
Wash it 1st, oh no Amway oil😁
this link leads no where to purchase
It appears that they have recently changed their website, I’ll be contacting them tomorrow to let them know the link to Amsoil products isn’t working
