Me at a yamaha dealer... Wow that's a sick wolverine, I'll be back though, gotta go buy a piano for my daughter, you wouldn't know anything about that? Yamaha dealer: look, you're not going to believe this, but...
Bought my x2 850 a week ago tomorrow but I probably watched this review a 100x before I did and it's everything he says it is perfect for both work and play I absolutely love mine!!
Great video, Alex. I wholeheartily agree with your take on "utility" vs. pure "performance". I have a 2018 Honda Pioneer 1000 4x4 with 3 across seating, a large dump bed, and after-market TRACTOR-style tires. My good buddy used to use it at his duck camp down in Arkansas, until we brought it up to my deer camp in northern Michigan awhile back. I use the Honda in northern Michigan in areas where there are no trails (just woods) to recover deer, check on blinds, do a little trout fishing, etc. The Honda Pioneer 1000 is a BEAST. The rear bed holds all my recovery gear and an electric chain saw which gets used frequently to clear blown downs (e.g., to open trails for my Jeep). The Honda will do over 60mph, but I rarely drive it faster than 5mph off road, and only 30-35mph on roads to get to the areas where I hunt. I currently have a Jeep 4x4 (that goes off-road frequently) and I have owned several other 4x4s over the past 40+ years, all of which have been used since new to drive off-road throughout northern Michigan. Do I "need" a side-by-side ORV? No; but I gotta tell you that at my age (68) it has certainly reduced the effort of dragging deer out of the woods and getting to remote spots through a couple of miles of dense forest. My 11-year old granddaughter (who LOVES to camp and fish) is coming up to our Cabin in a couple of weeks and she is going to learn how to drive the Honda Pioneer.
I would like to see more side by side videos. I’m in the market for a crew cab. But I’m tall and room is important. Would like to see comparisons between a ranger crew and general crew for example. Looking for size dimensions and maximum storage availability.
@tammyforbes2101 the f*ck? Lol their different. Yamaha has way more storage, comfortable suspension, diff lock and room in the back. I just have a 12v outlet and 4x4 on my 2019 honda pioneer lol
Loved the Rmax but i will never have the need for a touch screen in a side by side. Would love a 50 inch 1000cc by Yamaha so we could ride the national forest trails.
Awesome video. I have that exact machine. 2024 Wolverine 850 X2. It's exactly what he said it is. Perfect for working on our property and perfect for evening rides around the mountain with the wife. I know he said the price is 15,700, but we purchased ours new here in Oregon for $12,999. We had an optical grade polycarbonate windshield and a canvas back window that zips open installed. Out the door, we paid $13,800. These machines are definitely worth the price! Thank you for the great video!
I've got a 2023 cfmoto zforce 950 sport and the locked rear diff definitely hurts turning radius. Much like this one it has a diff lock for the front that is separate from 4x4. The locked rear is nice to have when you need it, but tears stuff up and hurts turning radius when you don't.
You’re lucky it was raining. I couldn’t imagine the amount of dust you would have inhaled with no back window and a windshield. The vacuum caused would have filled the whole cab with dust.
Went out for a ride about a month ago and it was bone dry, no rain for a long time.... a SXS with no rear window followed me (I don't know why they didn't back off more) and the dust that got in and covered everything was insane after 20 miles!
@johnmorris77 cfmoto dealers add 1250 dollars for delivery and set up fees to those machines though. I searched high and low for a dealership that didn't add that cost and couldn't find one. So I went with this machine. And if you want a Chinese made sxs go for it.
Cfmoto's are China trash. The price looks good until you realize the dealership adds $1250 to the price for delivery and set up fees. Then the price isn't as good as you thought it was.
So glad you showed us the 850 Yamaha! This has been my dream (attainable) SxS right for years. I would love a Honda but these seem like a better fit for the type of riding I do in Alberta.
Not sure where you live, but I'm in Oregon and I got mine 5 months ago for $12,999. $13,800 with a Yamaha polycarbonate quick release windshield and a Yamaha canvas zip open back window. That was out the door.
CFMOTO is a Chinese company. How/why would anyone knowingly support the Communist Chinese via product purchases? Undoubtedly, the designs were stolen and reverse engineered from Western manufacturers. The CCP is colliding with Russia in the Ukrainian war. They are threatening the sovereignty of Taiwan and the entire South Pacific shipping lanes. So, please.... keep doing the 'patriotic' thing and promote cheap Chinese products.
Then there is a 5..6 year warranty to compensate. Having a good relationship with ur dealer or doing ur homework also. I bought a used Toyota and dealership refused to do 1 new tire or oil change. After i called Toyota I got 4 new tires n an oil change. That’s $800 I saved. Always a way.
The biggest problem with CF Moto is there tend to be alot of fly by night dealers. The warranty is only as good as the dealer, and alot of those dealers disappear. We tried selling them beside Cats at the dealer I used to wrench at. They didn't sell well, and they are time consuming to work on. At least on the ones we had 10 years ago. While the basic hard parts were very familiar and not overly difficult to work on, getting access to them was overly complicated.

I picked up a 2023 teryx s for 16,500. Brand new and I’ve been super happy with it. No issues so far and great suspension
I have that side by side for five years and I love it ❤.
Bought a '23 X4 850, so far no issues or regrets at over 2300 miles. Solid machine for our style at 65+ years old.

Damn, Alex flew to Alaska for this one! Thanks for the coverage, TFL!
Yamaha paid for the travel

The manufacturers never give those to reviewers.
Bring back some of that rain Alex! Great video. See you when you get back.
I was hoping you would take that machine somewhere I couldn't go in my front wheel drive car.
i have a 2019 in camo with 4400km that s been flawless so far. cheers!

I believe that diff lock is for the front. I wish the rear wasn't locked full time and had a turf mode. Otherwise this is the budget unit I'd buy
Turf mode is great in theory, noone seems to have been able to make it not a grenade with any decent amount of power unfortunately.

I'm looking to rent one at Windrock Park in East Tennessee next month. $350 for the day. Thanks for the review!
I'd like to see you compare this to the Viking Alex. Great review
Alex , excellent review from Alaska !
Glad you enjoyed it!
What is the horsepower for these machines?@@TFLoffroad
The 850 is more or less 70hp
@@82f100swb Thank you sir for the answer about the hp.

You’re in Ketchikan: it only rains on days ending in -y there.
Great video loved it🤩🤩😍
Would you feel comfortable taking this guy up Red Cone?
Fun review, thanks!
Doesn't Yamaha sell the Viking which is a cheaper model than this? IIRC it uses the big (~700cc) single from the Grizzly ATV.
What’s the hp for the 850 and 1000 models?

$15k still seems high. Maybe you guys could do a “budget” video series sometime.
Yeah, way out of my budget
Do you know of new ones that are cheaper from a reputable company? This is the cheapest I’ve found for a 800

Literally the worst most under qualified person to do offroad reviews. This guy is a 🤡
Just bought one, 23k in Canada we get bent over.
Thanks Tredaue for pricing us out of our little existence that we barely held onto in the first place
8:38 I definitely by the SXS based on looks alone.
Would still liked to have seen a comparison between the Honda Pioneer and Kawasaki mule.
Pioneer is in a different league in terms of off road capability
If it had turf mode and a little larger cargo bed,I would've bought one. Instead, I bought a Can Am Defender HD7.

Release your parking brake
I would not rent that if top speed is 25
Dude you are supposed to stop to engage diff lock.
Wish Yamaha would stop with the sloped front end. It isn't what the market really wants. Same for the YXZ.
I don't know about you, but I like being able to see where I am putting my tires...
Yeah, the poser market. Those who like functionality like the sloped front end and seeing the terrain in front of them.
15,000 and I don't get a windshield and a wiper????
And it’ll be 20k out the door

15k? That price is ridiculous. This spec should be 7-8k max
To much money for that
50 000$ side by side 😂 I pass. That's better still expensive. I thought the smallest models lowest prices were 8000 to 9000$ to start nothing on it
50k? The smallest ones do start at 8-10k
It's 15, not 50.
Honestly, it's a lot of nerve to sell the same side by side as the Rhino that came out in like 2008 or whatever for $15k.
These have absolutely zero in common with a Rhino, including the number of cylinders. The Viking would be closer to a Rhino.
Cf moto. Same or better quality $10,000 to $15,000.SxS
Kawasaki still has a ton of profit build in.
Not in my experience of cf moto quads
