2020 METHOD: How to upgrade from Lion to High Sierra (If Mac supports High Sierra of course!). Apple makes you do an intermediate step of installing El Capitan first. I figured this video may be helpful to some! Hope you all enjoy!

Hey everyone! Want to give a quick update about this video. First of all, WOW! Thanks for all the support, likes, comments, on this video! Glad it is helping many people out! Second, since Big Sur, Apple has changed the website a little bit. There is now no longer separate links for El Capitan and High Sierra, instead, it takes you to a page where you can download many versions of macOS. So just click on either link in the description and it will take you there and scroll down a little to see the download links. Hi, today is Jan 5th, 2021 and I having issues downloading High Sierra. The above link worked and show all different versions of MacOS. However, when I clicked on "High Sierra", the AppStore app came up but did not show any thing about HIgh Sierra. Please help!
Just an update on this issue. It did not work for me when I used Firefox. Switching to use the link in Safari works for me!

Thank you Ben. As everyone else on here has stated, I cannot thank you enough for solving this problem. We have a 2012 iMac in perfect condition and had to erase it and reload the operating system that came with it: Mountain Lion. I could not figure out how to upgrade the operating system and I have been working on this for a few weeks. I would love to see you benefit far more than the thumbs up we can give you. But we did indicate a thumbs up and subscribed also. Thank you for being straightforward and logical and very very helpful!

chrome worked for me
I can’t even get chrome on my MacBook
ye safari didn't work. so i used chrome instead and it worked also if u can't download chrome just go to RUclips or some google service and they will tell you something like your browser is outdated so then you can install chrome.

Benjamin, thank you for the support. I am a newbie with Macs but during Covid lockdown I've been collecting older no longer used macs, updating memory, SSD and OS. Then giving them out to those that need but can't really afford a computer for home study. Thanks for your help!

This came in clutch! I decided to factory reset my Mac and freaked out when I couldn’t update software from the apps store. Lucky, I found this gem and it worked out!

I cant thank you enough, I had almost given up on upgrading my mac air mini 2011. I watch so many videos which lead me to instructions that were not useful. I did exactly what your video says and I am happy to say I have given my MacBook a second chance of life. I will pass it on to my nephew who is in High School. What you need to do is restart and keep shift pressed down for ages until it prompts a login the login then restart again and hold down opt, ctr, R until the recovery mode shows after like a 4 min wait and then you see the Apple logo then you have to click install Mac OS bit and then Mac OS Catalina shows I was stuck on mountain lion for agessss and stayed up so late
this doesn’t work for me it says can’t establish a secure connection to the server

I tried every single Internet advice that wanted me to create a reboot able usb drive, etc. Tried and many times nothing worked, and wasted pretty much a whole day. Thank God I found your video. I threw an old MacBook Pro 2011 into storage because I tried a clean install some years ago, screwed it up. ended on lion and couldn't upgrade from there. I recently pulled it out of storage to give to a cousin who really needs a laptop for school. And decided to try again for him and I came across your video after 4hrs of headache. And it worked perfectly! thanks so much! I'm super excited on two fronts. 1. I was able to finally get it "fixed" and 2. not having to embarrassingly give him a laptop I HOPE would work enough on Lion to help him through school. Now he can work with a macOS that will hopefully be compatible with all the software he may need. thanks so much !

Dude! You get double internet points today! I had to replace my SSD hard drive on a 2012 Mac Air and Lion was the only option to get it running. I say running but more like 'AOL called and they would like to send you a CD to explore the interwebs'. Nothing would work with an outdated Lion OS. This guide is so easy to follow and worked. I tried to download high Sierra, without doing the step with El capitan. It works too. After this, I loaded Catalina. Everthing is fine now, without step El Capitan. Suprising, isnt it?

The downloadpages are so difficult to find. Thats what is very strange. You can find tipps all over the Internet but its so easy this way, nobody knows! Crazy.

@@ianm-y5s Yeah, on my Hackintosh i‘m on High Sierra due to limited drivers of NVIDIA Pascal cards and there I can‘t play Among Us on Steam unfortunately.

Tienes que bajar e instalar El Capitan primero y luego de estar ya instalado, debes bajar High Sierra e instalarlo. Espero te sirva, a mi me funcionó muy bien.

I would like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH I actually needed to Install the El Capitan first on my 10.13.6 High Sierra system... and then the 10.15 High Sierra system, which was so bizzar, but my laptop is a 2009 edition, and now I can finally download all things Mac. Well what can I say. I brought a dead laptop and fixed it. But it was running lion. Somebody told me me I had to to maintain lion Frist then upgrade. But I was hitting expired certs and it wouldn't work. Found your video and into 20mins of installing el capitan. Thank you so much your a life saver.
