This is not a criticism, you are great guys, but please we want to see you playing the drums you are talking about. We don't want the commercial blabla stuff. Sorry I know this sounds cold, it isn't my intention, I respect you guys, you are awesome, but we are drummer we already know Yamaha is great and makes great stuff. Peace ;)
Yamaha were used as backline in a few shows I played in town and out of state. I was impressed by the ease of tuning and the sound, so I picked up a Stage Custom to kick around town in order to save on my vintage Ludwig kits. It didn’t take long for the Yamaha to become my “go to” kit. The sound, construction, and reliability are unmatched.
I’m very happy with this kit. For the money you can’t beat this one. I did notice though that Japan subbed this out to China. 😂 Even Japan outsources stuff.
Yamaha makes nearly all of their kits in China now, even the very expensive Live Custom Hybrid Oaks, Absolute Hybrid Maple, and Recording Customs. Only the ultra expensive PHX series is still made in Japan.
@@fuzzylogiceire I’d love to play on their best kit ever. I also took the bamboo hoops off my DW snare and put triple flanged hoops on instead. OMG! Nice and crisp now. Side sticking on bamboo didn’t do it for me. Amazing, China is making one of the best drum sets around but they seem to be having problems with building everything else. 🙄
IN THERE OWN COMPANY NOTHING WILL BEAT THE 8O'S & 9O'S RECORDING CUSTOMS MADE IN JAPAN AND THE STAGE CUSTOMS MADE IN INDONESIA PERIOD THAT WAS THERE BEST YEARS GONE A BIT DOWN HILL SINCE THEN AND I'M NOT A YAMAHA FAN BUT I KNOW QUALITY WHEN I HEAR AND SEE IT IN PERSON
Tho Yamaha is one of the best in the business for a long time and a great product no matter the price point , DTX is a sad looking situation. Got people hitting synthetic objects in their own individual world, completely removed from any group/social setting, can't hear anything. Don't promote the destruction of music in over 1/2 a video segment on YT.
I like Yamaha Drums and I have a chance to win a Stage Custom Drum Set. This will be great for my beach house in Sagamore Beach. The Stage Custom is great for studio recording and live performances.
Imho the stage custom sounds as good as the recording custom. I've tried both the old version of recording custom and the new one. And also the old and new stage custom model. They sounded almost the same to my ears. With good heads such coated remo and good cymbals such zildjian Constantinople or k special dry, and a good snare such absolute hybrid maple the stage custom will sounds as good as any high end Yamaha kit. If tuned properly.
Thanks Yamaha! Bought a recording custom in Surf green a few years ago specifically because it wasn’t an option offered in the lower lines. Add to that the product availability issues and Chinese (mis)manufacturing, looks like my lifelong love of these drums is coming to an end.
I,m tired of deep bass drums! Bassy punch can be done with a 14" bass drum! 16 and 18" deep bass drums are kind of one trick ponies!! Give us drummers more options!!
Guys, save money and invest in good cymbals such K constantinople, paiste, istanbul agop, murat diril or sabian, remo coated or evans heads, a good snare drum and get yourself a Yamaha stage custom. You will not regret your purchase. Because in the end it is the drummer who makes the difference.
Yamaha spokesman: Opaque means that NOTHING can be seen underneath it. If you meant to say semi-transparent, say that. I'm a drummer and a professional painter. I know what opaque means. 😂
Other than their website looking like it's from 1995, what do they mean they're coming back/ took a dip recently? I wish they still made their drums in Japan- the ones in the 90's/early 2000's were awesome. Meanwhile, the stage custom I have is a fantastic kit regardless.
They sold the company like a decade ago. You couldn't get anything from the company but whatever was on music store floors and shelves, for a few years. Plus they changed their whole color palate. I was really putting in a ton of work looking to buy my kit. $750 to over 5 digit prices, and everything in between. I couldn't find what color I was looking for in the shell pack alone, never mind add ons being available to even order on a waiting list. I wasn't waiting years, so I moved on and Yamaha was eliminated from my search unfortunately. They still don't seem to have their 💩 together at Yamaha percussion. Still seems somewhat haphazard, as if a bunch of people that know little about drums, are running the percussion side of the company. Like the Star Wars sequels. 🥴
No mention of the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple kits that mysteriously disappeared, I asked several dealers about buying drum components and nobody can get an answer from Yamaha.

@Jesse Jasko Hi dear Jesse, why PHX, RC, Hybrid absolute maple? When you can get a stage custom for a very interesting price and'that will sound as good as any Yamaha high end kit . Rob brown has both the phx and the stage custom and he still prefer to take his stage custom on live and studio. If you are interested I can send you RUclips links to fantastic drummers who played and sounded great on Yamaha stage custom : Will Kennedy, Dave Weckl, Jimmy Mc Bride, Eric Harland, Nate Wood, Jonathan Pinson, Ari Hoenig.
@@metothemoon1227 As much as I love those kits, I have a Stage Custom and a Tour Custom, but they don't compare to the sound and quality of their high end kits like the Live Hybrid custom Oaks, HMC, RC's and PHX lines.
@@metothemoon1227"sound as good" is completely subjective, especially when talking different materials and construction. Plus different hardware for different kits.
@@section8usmc53 I agree with you, m'y motto " Not the drums but the drummer. " :) But yes there are drums that sounds horrible. Imho, these days even the so called "entry level" drums sounds super good.
I’m sorry but 2 new colors in the SC series is so lame given their entire line lacks colors. “We took a bit of a dip.” Really? Love my New Recording Custom but moving to China was bad move for their drum line at least. Yamaha is a legendary drum manufacturer they need step up their game and fast.

It wasn't the "moving to China" that did them in. They've been a mess since they sold the company. The whole percussion side of Yamaha needs and overhaul because nobody seems to know what they are doing or what is going on. Can't find some kits, let alone find add on drums, or even order them.
Actually we are drummer that wants to hear the drums they talked about, we don't need the commercial blabla stuff, we already know Yamaha makes great stuff haha. I’m a Sonor and TAMA guy, but Yamaha does make quality drums.
It’s too bad we couldn’t see any of the kits you were talking about.
Thinking the same!! Lol
Awesome to see new colors in Stage Custom finally. Now, if they would only offer more than satin finishes in Tour Custom......

More colors in the stage custom line is needed!
You beat me to it! I was going to say the same thing, new colors.
Yea it is needed. It’s needed on the tour custom drums as well
@@Jeremy_Sims I agree!
The only thing that Yamaha lacks is finishes. Dw can do any finish but sound not even half as decent as a Yamaha.
Awesome! Love it! I play Pearl but I used to work at Yamaha thank you!

22 in and larger bass drums should have 20 lugs. They tune nicer and sound better.

I wish they would expand the existing SC colors to the hip kit. I would buy a hip kit bass drum in Honey Amber.

Rob Brown a RUclipsr had both the PHX and stage custom and he prefer his stage custom ;)
Why did some Yamaha kits take a "dip"?
What does he mean “Yamaha’s back! We’re running on all cylinders now” I didn’t realize Yamaha was gone.
They still are actually, my local music shop isn’t taking any orders on their high ends kits like, RC’s Hybrid Maple Customs, or PHX’s.
